Yelp
New shop opened October 21, 2023 (soft opening). This is their second location (first in Flushing, Queens). Surprised that it's not listed on Yelp yet, so I added them today.
I finally had a chance to visit; I came with my cousin on Friday 12/19/2023 afternoon after lunch to grab some treats to bring home. It was a quiet and slow day; not very busy, but other people came in after us. We all were excited to browse to see the flavors, and the gentleman at the register was kind enough to explain their offerings.
There are 2 order kiosks in the front before the display counters, or you can place your order at the front register. We ohhh and ahhh over the display and asked for recommendations and popular flavors. The gentleman suggested the original. I asked about the "saltiness" content between the Salty Boy (because of the pork floss) and the Taro Salted Egg (salted egg) and he just said "they are salty" which didn't tell me much. I was intrigued and wanted to try them all.
There is a great combo where you can buy any 6 flavors egg tarts called "Nice to See you" for $21 ($22.87 with tax). That sounds like an amazing deal so I head over the kiosk to place my order as there were people that enter the shop and wanted to look at the display (I moved away to give them a better view) and saw that everyone else just order at the front register. Perhaps the kiosk is too high tech for them? When you look at the display, it's a narrow space to look and go to the front register, which was why I moved away to the kiosk.
I ordered: Original, Pineapple, Chocolate Bobo, Ube Cheese, Salty Boy, and Taro Salted Egg Yolk egg tarts. There were 7 flavors total (the last being Durian), but I forgone that. There was an option to heat up the egg tarts or have it not heat up. Since I was taking them home, I forgo the heating option and can heat it up myself when I'm ready to enjoy it. Inside the lid of the box has heating instructions via microwave or oven.
I had tried 4 out of 6 to date (as of 1/01/2024), and I have to say my favorite is the Salty Boy and the Taro Salted Egg Yolk so far. I love pork floss, so I enjoyed the sweet egg tart with the savory saltiness of the pork floss (in my onion, it wasn't really salty at all... it would just be considered a savory egg tart versus a sweet dessert egg tart). The Salty Boy can be a bit messy to eat as the pork floss can tumble off. The canned pineapple has a slight sweetness that was mellowed out by the egg tart, so it wasn't anything special. I really enjoyed the Taro flavor ( I took a few bites before I even got to taste the salted egg yolk). The ube cheese was okay; it didn't taste too cheesey (definitely not salty), and the ube was more overpowering than the cheese; but then I was never a huge fan of ube. I'm also not a huge fan of salted egg (I even avoid salted egg mooncakes), but I enjoyed the taro flavor with it. I can't wait to try the last 2- original and Chocolate Bobo.
I think it is worth a try, but overall, nothing tooo crazy. Some may not consider them to be worth the price, but it's like $1 or so more than a regular egg tart or a regular portuguese egg tart... so why not? Go ahead, try them. It's unique and awesome. My cousin didn't find the pineapple to be good as it's just canned pineapple baked inside the egg tart, and she loved loved loved the original portuguese egg tart.
Also, I bought a Taipan regular Egg Tart to compare to Na Tart Egg Tarts. One of the pictures shows the top is the ube cheese, which is thinner than the bottom Taipan Egg Tart. Just an fyi if you wish to know the sizing and thickness. Presentation of Na Tart is lovely and cute. The Salty Boy has a large handful of pork floss, which was good (I am a pork floss fan). The Chocolate Bobo looks sooo good, which is why I'm saving it for last.
