my friend called me crying at 10pm asking if it was okay to come over and I said ofc, anything you need, lmk. when she arrived, I realized the situation was worse than I thought and also, I would be a terrible therapist. so I asked, "Do you wanna go to a dessert cafe?" NaYa was open until midnight so we bussed over here.
the line was kinda long but the wait wasn't too bad, we got to look over the menu and lurk overhearing someone's convo in viet lol. the saigonese accent was so strong... anyway, we ordered something savory and the ferrero crepe with vanilla and green tea ice cream to alleviate hunger and sadness. the Hokkaido milk crepe we were eyeing had run out, just like my friend's happiness from earlier in the day.
I will focus the review on the crepe which was pretty good, definitely get the green tea ice cream. quite chocolatey and with plenty of crunch. surprise surprise, this cafe and its crepes were very Asian. so what that means is the fillings were the emphasis instead of the crepe which was more of a vehicle for them and therefore secondary in having any flavor of its own. predictably, main taste is Ferrero.
it hit the spot but yeah. sorta like a sit-down genki? don't come expecting French breakfast for dinner, the crepes lack that oui oui baguette butter flavor and are pretty unambiguously dessert. like even an American would feel indecent eating this while the sky has light in it, which is saying something.
probably... a shrink is more suitable for what we came for? but the sweet treat was really good, I left feeling both better and worse. better because the food/vibes were the cheer and solace we needed. but also worse because I'm lowkey lactose intolerant in denial and there is something both hilarious and profoundly sad about treating serious life stuff with sugar late at night.
A cute cafe for foodies and saddies alike. I'll be back on another teary evening with a friend.
