I really like Indian food. Enjoy it. I’m not a novice. nYC, LA, Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Miami, Boston, Atlanta, Houston, Sri Lanka and India itself. I’m familiar with it. I also give good reviews, often positive. This was the worst Indian food I ever had. The flavors had no depth. The place is beautiful and impressively designed. Loved the setting. The only reason why I didn’t give it a one star is simply because I could tell they were trying and because the lamb dish I ordered the meat itself was very tender and you can tell it went through a process. One of the things I should have known, is there is no good Indian restaurant that doesn’t smell like curry and vindaloo when you walk through the door. Except for this one. They didn’t even ask me how spicy I wanted my food. The lamb sauce itself had no depth. The “naan” which I have had all over the world, was way under average and didn’t have fresh garlic on it. The saag paneer was like a green smoothie more than a saag and it was incredibly salty , no spice, and tasted much like cilantro. It was so salty I asked alerted them and asked them to take it off my order as I only had a bite. They refused. Customer service was horrendous. Barely any attention and when they do pay attention to you they’re very serious and commanding with barely any eye contact. - I’m a business coach and consultant and have trained fortune 100 sales and hospitality teams.
I was shocked in truth. Because even a small mom and pop Indian grocery bodega makes 4x better food than this well designed, well positioned Indian restaurant.
Maybe it was a bad day. Maybe there are better dishes. Maybe their drinks are good.
I won’t be returning.
