Yelp
Hello Yelp Followers: I am reviewing NakedQ BBQ today. First, I would like to say, if you follow my Yelp reviews, you know how hard it is to get a 5-Star rating from me. But, NakedQ BBQ has achieved that. First, let me set the stage: I had not heard of them. I coincidentally parked my car in a strip mall parking lot to run an errand and smelled their smoker when I got out of my car. I knew I had to explore them because the aroma was wonderful. They did not expect me. I walked in and indicated to staff it was my first time there. Everyone (and I mean everyone) thanked me for coming in, helped me with the menu and told me about the options based on my desire which was the following: I want to take home some fork-tender meat, what do you recommend, the pork or the brisket? I was offered a sample of both to help me make up my mind. After tasting the samples, I left with a one-pound container of EACH meat. They were both equally fabulous for the following reasons:
The Pork: The pork was absolutely succulent with a wonderful vinegar sauce that was just tangy enough and a great compliment to the pork itself. The pork was so tender it melted in your mouth when you chewed it. This definitely passed the "tender" test for me. The outer smoke rim on the meat was about 1/4", and here and there in the to go container was a piece of pork that had a little crust on it which, if you love barbecue you know that is what everyone fights over!
The Brisket: The brisket can be ordered sliced or pulled/diced. Based on my request for "fork tender" it was recommended that my order be pulled/diced. Excellent choice. If you are a barbecue meat lover you know brisket can be dry without sauce. I feel the true test of any barbecued meat is if it is tender AND moist without any sauce. The sauce simply makes it better but should not be the "juice" of the meat. Again, I found the brisket tender, moist and delicious. The smoke ring on this meat was also about 1/4".
Neither meat was overly smoky tasting - just enough which I prefer.
The Sauces: There are several choices for sauces including spicy, sweet, honey mustard and the vinegar sauce which the pulled pork is served in. Since staff recommended each sauce for different reasons, I took a to go container of each type and after I got home tried them with both the pork and the brisket. There is no way I could have selected one. The spicy sauce is wonderful if you are a spice fan, the heat is there but not overwhelming. The sweet sauce is very unique even a little smoky but not overly sweet. Staff recommended I combine the spicy and sweet sauces turning out a wonderful combination. For me, combining these two was the winner!
Of Note: The restaurant was very clean. Staff at this location were all kind, enthusiastic and professional. You can tell they all believed in the quality of their products, enjoyed what they did, and wanted to ensure their customers were happy. This is becoming a rare combination to find anymore. Good job NakedQ BBQ team!
I highly recommend you try NakedQ BBQ if you are a barbecue pulled pork and/or brisket fan. I can only imagine their other meats are fantastic as well, but when it comes to barbecue, I am a pork/brisket girl.
The next time I go (and there will be a next time), I will stay and "sit down" to eat so I can try their sides. Therefore, watch for an updated review of this location from me in the future.
Enjoy!
