Nestled in a trendy, bohemian district, Nakka is a spacious restaurant with a stylish interior, featuring two dining rooms and a handful of tables on the terrace. The décor leans towards a darker palette, setting the stage for a sophisticated Japanese dining experience.
Food
Nakka offers an extensive Japanese menu, perfect for indulging in a variety of small plates. We opted for a selection of sushi and rolls. Sadly, some of the menu items we were particularly looking forward to, including dishes featuring Wagyu beef and Bluefin tuna, were unavailable. Despite this, the sushi we did choose were very good. The uni (sea urchin roe) was of exceptional quality, lacking any iodine taste and boasting a slightly sweet, creamy texture. We also enjoyed the sushi and nigiri with tuna and foie gras – the foie gras was dense, rich, and slightly sweet, perfectly complementing the lean tuna. The combination of lychee fruit with foie gras was an unexpected delight, a flavor pairing we had never encountered before. While the rolls were meticulously crafted with minimal, expertly prepared rice, they felt slightly dry due to the lack of sauce.
Service
The service was good, though not exceptional, which is what one might expect at a high-end establishment. Dishes were served promptly and dirty plates cleared efficiently. Some servers also spoke English, which was a welcome addition.
Conclusion
Nakka is an outstanding Japanese restaurant, offering authentic Japanese flavors with a touch of fusion. It's a shame that some items were unavailable. I highly recommend this restaurant for those willing to splurge and savor delicious Japanese cuisine.
