Dining in Sandy Springs | Eater Atlanta

"At this Vietnamese restaurant, over 300 bottles of wine are available for retail sale or with your meal. These are displayed proudly throughout a bright, casual dining room where colorful parasols and paper lanterns are festooned across the ceilings. The outdoor seating offers views of City Green’s fountains and bench swings. Executive chef Thuy Bich uses influences from both the northern and southern regions of her homeland. You can get traditional pho and bun, of course, but also try the sauteed dishes like lemongrass grouper, meats cooked in clay pots with sweet caramelized Nam sauce and veggies, and grilled pork chops and jumbo shrimp with a fried egg." - Su-Jit Lin

I came in from Virginia to visit my family and found this wonderful place midday in Sandy Spring on Friday the 13. I sat at a very large and inviting bar seat for lunch even know the restaurant seating was beautiful. The (Vietnamese ) chef came out of the kitchen randomly and joined me in conversation as if we were long time friends! My server Blake and the chef were so incredibly professional and extremely nice to me , a perfect stranger! A rarity in today’s world. I asked the chef to pick his favorite meal for me and he prepared a wonderful Lemongrass Chicken dish that was absolutely incredible! Blake, my new friend and server helped in pairing a delicious white wine to compliment! The wine selections are off the chart here by the way ! My hour and a half in this very local , authentic , delicious and inviting place made my visit to Sandy Spring a memorable experience! It seldom gets any better!

Google
Wonderful authentic Vietnamese restaurant right in the heart of Sandy Springs. They have a fairly extensive wine selection and the attention to details on cocktails and appetizers stand out. I would recommend dinner at the bar for one or two qnd to get a least one or two apps to split before your main dish. Thuy’s wings and spring rolls are easily my favorite (even if they aren’t featured) and it’s hard to go wrong with a specialty roll. I would recommend the clay pot or vermicelli bowls for a main dish.

Food was amazing ! I can’t wait to go back . The best wine and champagne selections. Great service . Beautiful establishment . Perfect for a date night.

Nam Kitchen in Sandy Springs is a true gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with warm hospitality and a beautiful ambiance. The food is absolutely incredible – fresh, flavorful, and authentically Vietnamese. Every dish, from the pho to the banh mi, is prepared with such care and attention to detail, and the flavors are perfectly balanced. The staff is attentive and friendly, making sure you have a memorable dining experience. If you’re looking for delicious Vietnamese cuisine in the Atlanta area, Nam Kitchen is the place to go. Highly recommend!

Google
Spring rolls are delicious. But Claypot pork was too salty and too sweet, couldn't even finish it as the pork meat has a taste that is defrosted and unsavory. Not recommended.

Google
The establishment exudes an atmosphere of sophistication and elegance, complemented by an extensive selection of wines. However, the food menu may be somewhat perplexing, as it appears to encompass a fusion of various cuisines, including Japanese and Vietnamese, among others. Despite this, the culinary offerings are delectable and satisfying to the palate. In conclusion, this establishment presents itself as a suitable venue for formal dining experiences.

Google
You feel like you are part of the family when you go here. Thuy is the best master of ceremonies. Cozy up to the bar and get treated as if you are at her house. Share some stories, listen to hers, and meet the people next to you - all while getting delicious food, great cocktails and a stellar bottle list. Always a great experience.

Google
I stopped in after going to City of Sandy Springs City Hall. Great choice. Had an amazing adult beverage made with Hennessy. It was very refreshing...the Ian Special. I wasn't very hungry so the edamame was all I ordered. I sat at the bar and was able to plug in my laptop while I enjoyed my order. The music was Sade, Luther Vandross and many other soft music artists. Definitely going back. Thanks Ian!

Yelp
One of my absolute favorite restaurants ever. From the pristine and flawless decor to the delicious food and extensive wine selection, I always feel right at home. In fact, I sometimes go just to hang out at the bar and chat with the staff, especially the owner, Thuy. I love this place!

Yelp
Had the weather been more agreeable (far too hot and muggy!), we would've totally sat outside on the cutest, most charming and colorful patio ever, but I was still tickled to find that the inside was just as cute and unique. I will say that it is very difficult to navigate the interior, especially with my handicapped Mom, and two children with me - it is very tight and cluttered, with a bit too much of the corny wine shelves and cheesy wine signs. But we love the colorful parasols and lanterns hanging from the ceiling, and the unbelievable orchids! Our server was an absolute doll - she was friendly and prompt. The food - DROOL. My Mom and Dad have been talking up NAM to me for awhile now, and I am so glad to have finally tried it. The pork salad, avocado spring rolls, shrimp pho, vermicelli shrimp salad, beef pho - everything we had, each and every bite scrumptious.

Yelp
Food and ambience amazing!! Best in Sandy Springs! Owner is one of a kind! Big heart - knows her food and wine like no other! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Great atmosphere! Very professional staff! Excellent cuisine prepared with a personal touch! Extraordinary wine, spirits and hand crafted cocktail list with something for the most discerning taste. A true gem with unique character and charm!

Yelp
This place is worse than terrible. Awful. Horrific. Nasty. Just don't go! So disappointing. Rude staff and terrible food. Walk out the door and go anywhere else. Maybe the place will close and something better will go in. We can only hope.

Yelp
The decor is phenomenal and the service was great! This place is known for their cocktails. I asked for a Rum Old Fashioned, which was not on the menu. That was not the best choice because it wasn't very good. I don't blame the restaurant for that though. My friend had the Too Much Ginger cocktail, and he didn't like his drink either. He's had good cocktails there before though. So maybe we came on a weird night or happened to order off beat items. I will give them another shot. The ambiance is superb!

Yelp
Amazing place for food and good time with friends! Even if you are not with friends no worries because the staff are more than friendly to us plus the great service you will get from everyone here. Thank you all, see you soon!

Yelp
back yet again with another group of friends :') there's never any wait during lunch time or weekdays lunch menu is from 12p-3p F O O D 3x pho, beef 16.5 rice noodles with homemade chicken broth, onions, protein (on the side basil, bean sprout, jalapeño, lime) pho shrimp spring rolls everything was so tasty and well cooked. soup was semi hot. only thing is that there is very little noodles :( but plenty of soup base to take home and make a second round of pho at home. the meat is so tender. S E R V I C E sky was our server. she was friendly and attentive.

Yelp
I think if you are going to have a drink or 2 I recommend this place. Interesting interior. Horrible service. We thought the food was ok but not great.

Yelp
Such a cute restaurant. I love the decor! The spring roll was really good. I also loved the lemongrass beef and eggplant dish. The service was also really good.

Yelp
Great Lychee Martini. Not too sweet. Not too strong. Love their salmon spring roll and shrimp spring roll.

Yelp
The owner has been rude to us and other patrons on many occasions. The only reason we ever return is because the drinks were good and we live right down the street. Unfortunately, we kept making excuses to go back, but finally, there was a Breaking Point. Enough is enough. The owner is also the main bartender and reserves the good bar seats mainly for her friends, who she knows will be big tippers. Maybe that's understandable as an employee opposed to the owner.

Shaun W.

Yelp
Would give fewer stars if possible. Went here for years, always enjoyed the food, the bar and tipped well. Over time and on many occasions, I witnessed the owner be rude, racist and anti semetic. When confronted about her behavior, she asked my party to leave and after that, I vowed to never go back. After spending thousands of dollars there and treating everyone with respect, this was her treatment. Sandy Springs is a diverse welcoming town and should have no place for this hateful type of behavior. A big Hawk Thuy to the owner

Doug B.

Yelp
Love this place! Great food and such an amazing selection of wine. You have to see inside.

Yelp
No good deed goes unpunished. I had the worst experience at this restaurant when asking the owner how we could rectify the fact that her establishment charged my credit card almost $3k for a dinner for two. Instead of being apologetic, she was defensive and told me her accountant does not work on weekends. I would have to wait until Tuesday. She didn't wait a week to charge my card?! The audacity! I thought I was being kind by resolving it directly with her instead of disputing the charge on my credit card. She was flippant and lacked compassion for her oversight. Her GM was very apologetic on the phone. He was awesome and I appreciated his sentiment. What a 180 degree flip when I met the owner. It was in poor taste and I would not recommend patronizing an establishment where the owner could careless about resolving her oversight in a timely manner.

Yelp
There were three of us looking for a good place to go, and my friend is vegan, so we had less choices to find a good spot. Every place was packed, but we were able to get into here without a wait for lunch. It's a sister restaurant to MF sushi. The waitress said they are Vietnamese, but then I saw sushi on the menu, and she explained that people really want sushi when they know it's a sister place to MF. Got it! The inside is very tropical looking with nice decor, very warm and inviting. They have a spacious bar there, too. The menu had sushi rolls, appetizers, and some lunch choices. I picked the tofu rice bowl. The tofu came out super crispy. It was really bland, but the eel sauce definitely helped a lot! They also brought me some sriracha. My gf got the vermicelli noodle bowl with tofu, and I loved the spring roll that came with it. I was just bummed they do not offer peanut sauce, but they will give you a side of peanuts...that's not the same for me. I like firm tofu, but it did come out way too crispy fried for my liking. Service was good. The waitress was kind, and helpful. She also didn't get cranky when we asked for extra sauce. All in all, decent. I think their prices for some of their items are a little steep. The bowls we got however were fair price. I think the restaurant was a solid 3 stars for me, however I'd like to check out other places I might like better.

Yelp
Perfect for a lunch with a friend to get caught up; quiet and peaceful. The chicken and eggplant was wonderful and the Spicy Jess cocktail had some kick

Yelp
Service was slow Food was good but in my opinion, there wasn't really a lot of options. I enjoyed the cocktails and the patio was cute

Devyn B.

Yelp
Could not say enough good about Nam, Thuy, and her staff. They opened their kitchen to honor my Mother in a way that nobody else could beat. Thuy did everything with 100% love from the flower arrangements to picking the food and wine that Mom would have ordered. She opened up her family and accepted mine as if we have known her for years and made us feel so special. I will forever support this woman and her amazing exquisite restaurant for the rest of my life. Thank you again and it was an amazing night.

linda s.

Yelp
We had been raving to our friends about Nam and the lovely patio. So we sat on the patio, ordered drinks and food, and was shocked when the server walked out with our food in styrofoam containers! We were a party of five, and he must have had a stack of at least 10 styrofoam boxes...to say the least, we felt as we were eating at a fast food joint. Nam is not inexpensive and for the price of our meal, dishes, silverware, and real glasses would have been nice. The server told us they don't use ceramic plates outside because they might break. Really? The food was good, but the paper, plastic and styrofoam cheapened the whole meal. Not only is this type of service environmentally irresponsible because of the waste, it ruins the whole vibe of the restaurant. That was my last time at Nam...there are plenty of outdoor patios to dine at that serve meals on dishes.

Yelp
Superb food, great bar. I will go back. Different from most menus in the area. Good service

Yelp
Walked in through the wine area and luckily they had a high top table near the bar. The restaurant has a cool hip atmosphere. We shared two menu entree's. The Sautéed Green Beans with Tofu and the Shrimp Pho. Both were so delicious. The tofu was very crispy and great. A great spot to go to before the show at Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center.
google avatar

Dan K.

Yelp
An unbelievable wine selection, at super reasonable prices and you can browse through the restaurant and pick out your bottle. Also, consistently fantastic food and service. The green beans and chicken, as well as the short ribs are fire! The restaurant has a neighborhood field with many locals walking to the restaurant to eat. Perfect for dinner before a show or concert.
google avatar

Sharon C.

Yelp
The atmosphere was nice, the shrimp rolls were really good, the staff and owner were all great but just one thing messed up my entire time. People who don't respect social distance. Someone 1" right next to me sweating and gross smelling on top of it. Everyone else that came to the bar had class and courtesy but I guess you cannot expect this for everyone. It's like I have to leave the house telling myself people don't have class and to expect the worst. That's really not the way things should be. Aside from that, this place seem like a great spot. They currently have a limited menu and no dining inside but really nice set up outside for lounge eating/drinking. They also have tons of wine, sake and moe available for full bottle purchase in a showroom style set up.

Yelp
We took our daughter here for brunch on a Sunday, and had no idea about the place coming in (it looked nice, and was close to her). We absolutely loved NAM Kitchen! Seriously great food and drinks, and the service was awesome too. We ordered a ton of stuff: 1. Edamame - pretty standard, but a good portion. 2. Pork spring rolls - the rice wrapper is a bit flimsy, but they were delicious! 3. Chicken+Pork Banh Mi - so good! They're apparently known for their Bahn Mi, and I see why. It was huge, with tons of jalapenos. 4. Spicy yellowtail roll - a big, delicious sushi roll. 5. Beef salad - we asked for them to spice this up, and they DID. WOW. My favorite thing we ordered. If you dig spicy beef salad, usually sort of a Thai dish, get this. 6. Beef Pho - also amazing! Huge bowl of pho, they spiced it up nicely as well! We had a few drinks, the Saigon Night is great. Marko gave us amazing service, and the atmosphere here is top notch. Definitely coming again!

Jacqueline S.

Yelp
We had a wonderful date night! The service is top notch! The yellow tail is to die for! Everything was awesome!

Yelp
A friend of mine suggested this restaurant as a date night spot. My fiancé and I decided to try it out on last Friday. I called and made a reservation prior to, which I highly recommend doing. Otherwise, it will definitely be a wait or you will be unable to dine altogether. When we first got there, I valet parked. While I was waiting on valet, my fiancé went inside to check in. He was seated by the hostess at our reserved table that had our names on it. Shortly after, a waitress, came up to him and questioned if he had a reservation and did he seat himself because she was trying to seat someone else at our table. Luckily, he was there or they would have tried to give away our reserved table, very shady. Once I was able to valet and go inside of the restaurant, he updated me on the confusion. Such a mess *eye roll*. Savannah, our waitress, came to our table to take our drink order. We both ordered two speciality cocktails. Unfortunately, I am unable to remember the names of the cocktails and tried to look on the restaurant's website for the menu, only to find the website is expired. I called the restaurant to make them aware of this situation, as I was just able to look on the website prior to dining. Oddly, the manager told me she was aware of the situation and they haven't updated their website in awhile. She also stated she would "text" me the menu, which I am still waiting on. This is one flaw of this entire establishment, which is the service. They could be a 5-star restaurant, but due to the service, I have major deductions for these reasons. They truly do lack, big time in this area. Savannah brought our drinks to the table, which were really good. We decided to go ahead and order our appetizers. We ordered the hamachi, which was a yellowtail dish with cilantro and jalapeños, topped with truffle oil. In addition, we ordered the Shrimp Tempura roll. Both dishes were very delicious. I highly recommend trying them both if you dine here. After we finished our appetizers, we placed our entree order. Had we known the kitchen would be backed up, we would have put in our entree order, along with our appetizers, as it took a while for our food to come out. We ordered the Spicy Lemongrass-Shrimp and the Claypot-Shrimp. Both entrees came with a side of jasmine rice, carrots, cucumbers, and green tomatoes. The sides were really good and fresh tasting. The Spicy Lemongrass-Shrimp was good, but I don't think I would order it again. My fiancé's entree, the Claypot-Shrimp, was much better. I highly recommend ordering that dish instead. While we were eating, we ordered another round of drinks. It took so long for our drinks to come, I tried to cancel the order. Our waitress informed us that our drinks were already being made and she couldn't cancel the order. Well it still took some time for our drinks to come out. At this point, we were done eating and ready for our check. Unfortunately, I wanted to change up my drink and ordered a spicy drink. This drink was absolutely awful. I'm a fan of spicy, but this drink did not taste good at all. After having to wait for my drink then it came out nasty, I was highly irritated. I mentioned it to Savannah and she stated, "she understood my concerns and would take care of it." I literally took two sips of the drink and did not like it. She took the drink away and brought the receipt. When she brought the receipt, it still had the drink on it. My fiancé didn't want to complain and was just ready to go, as it had already been a long dining experience, but I thought that was pretty tacky. Overall, the atmosphere is great and I think this place is good in the food/drink department, but has some major issues in the service department. I also think it is a little overpriced as well. I hope they can get it together, as I have high hopes for this restaurant. If you do decide to dine here, just know the service maybe slow and lackluster. Otherwise, you'll be good to go, just don't order the spicy drink! Everything else is good to go!

Yelp
Food was amazing! The claypot was great! We had great service and the bartender made us original refreshing drinks of our choice!

Yelp
I went on two occasions and the experiences were completely different and I had the same exact meal both times. First time - went on an a Saturday (5pm ish), I was really impressed by the foods presentation, taste, and freshness. I ordered the avocado appetizer and got the eggplant dish for my entree. Dessert was the guava cheesecake. Everything was good including the jasmine tea. Walked away happy and ready to return another time soon. Second time - we went on a Friday evening (8pm ish) and I ordered the same exactly things I did as the first time I was there. The lettuce in the avocado appetizer looked old consistently in all of them, they were browning. The eggplant entree looked completely different (see from my pictures). The jasmine tea was really bitter, borderline disgusting, I couldn't even finish it. The only good thing was the guava cheesecake. Not really sure if it was a different cook or due to the time of day or what was going on but the level of the food fell from an A to a C. It was a really sloppy experience food wise the second time I went and doesn't make me want to go back anytime soon. We ordered lemongrass tofu, eggplant, beer (not carded), jasmine tea, guava cheesecake and our total was around $70. The decor and layout of the restaurant is nice and they have a long menu list for alcohol, i think even bigger than their food menu. The service is good and they seem to have a dress code that is pretty interesting.....
google avatar

Lena N.

Yelp
Food and service was horrible. My pho came out cold and the noodles were clumped together. Worst pho I ever had.
google avatar

Tonya K.

Yelp
A great Friday night spot for a girl's night out. So many selections of wine and your able to order a bottle to drink outside on the patio. I strongly suggest the eggplant and string beans for a meal. My daughter loves the watermelon drink that the owner makes. Also family friendly during the daytime.
google avatar

Madalyn J.

Yelp
The cutest atmosphere and great food!! Love that it is also a wine shop. We love grabbing dinner here and then grabbing drinks at the bar afterwards! Easy parking in the deck right next door. Everything is always delicious!! Highly recommend the chicken vermicelli salad!
google avatar

Sophia Y.

Yelp
Came here w my daughter and ordered beef pho, chicken egg rolls and shrimp w rice plate. The chicken egg rolls would have been good but they were heavily seasoned inside with black pepper. I have never tasted so much black pepper in my life. The shrimp w rice plate was very good. The beef pho was NASTY. It not only looked nasty like someone's leftovers, it had very thick random cuts of meat inside. And some were raw and never cooked through bc it was so thickly cut. The noodles were all loose floating around as if it was eaten out of. The broth was very murky and not clear. They give you a tiny little container of siracha with the saddest tray of old bean sprouts and herbs. The bean sprouts were not even whole. They were bits and pieces with brown tints in the edges. VERY DISGUSTING PHO. YUCK!!!!!
google avatar

Vincent C.

Yelp
Over priced, Americanised food... but good atmosphere for a wine bar if you care to know
google avatar

Amanda J.

Yelp
This place is my absolute favorite restaurant in Atlanta. The Pho broth is phenomenal. Incredible atmosphere and drink menu as well. Everything I've had here has been so good. I always recommend it and take my friends!

Yelp
I tried NAM kitchen for the first time last week and I really enjoyed the food and service here. The place itself is very cozy and nicely decorated. Our server was really friendly and she recommended a few of her favorite dishes. I ended up ordering the vermicelli noodle bowl with pork and it was delicious! Very light and filling. Their portions are big which is awesome because the prices are a little steep. At the end of our meal we had their matcha cheesecake which I believe is a seasonal item. It was very good! Definitely recommend this place.

Michael S.

Yelp
The food was ballin, but the booth/bench seats in the back make you a foot taller than whoever you are sat across.
google avatar

Yelp
I love love this place. I always come here with my friends. It's also great for a date night as well. I love their food. They had great options for my non meat eating friends. The place is super cute and the owner, Thuy is super fun and friendly, she makes you feel like family!

Yelp
NAM Kitchen has literally become our favorite place to hang out in the greater Atlanta area. I wandered in here last year, because I couldn't stay in the dermatology office waiting room (three doors down) without wearing a mask. So, I wandered into NAM Kitchen, like Lucy discovering Narnia. Upon entering, the stacks of wine crates guide patrons to the corner of the bar, while also separating the dining room from the entrance. Thuy, the lady who runs the place, always decorates the room for the season, from hanging upside-down parasols to twinkle lights and hanging plants. The place always feels very comfortable. I have to admit that, other than phở, I never really enjoyed Vietnamese food until I ate here. Now I can't imagine a sandwich more enjoyable than their banh mi. Thuy also has special events that she invites regulars to attend, probably once per quarter. These are also spectacular, with wine tastings and special plates served over the course of three evening hours. If you haven't been yet, you should. My wife and I will be the two at the corner of the bar.
google avatar

Monica E.

Yelp
What a sweet spot this is! The decor is awesome and it feels like a very intimate restaurant. I went with a group of girlfriends and we were seated right away. I got the spicy lemongrass with chicken which was to die for! The portion sizes are great, the flavor was amazing! My friend got the steak pho and another got the tofu spicy lemongrass. All of us enjoyed our meal, and it was such a fun environment! You should check it out! I did struggle to find parking so I ended up paying 5 dollars plus tip for valet!

Erin S.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant and retail wine shop. The spring rolls are amazing and the wine selection is great -- and at an affordable price!
google avatar

Jasmin N.

Yelp
heard good things about this place. have tried to come here twice , closed both times. super disappointing. hours conflict with what's said on their website.

Tina M.

Yelp
Drinks are good, expensive but very good. I wish I could eat the food. I had the avocado rolls and they were great! Apart from the edamame and Pho that is the only thing I can eat here that is gluten free. Such a let down. And the staff unfortunately is not well versed in what is or is not gluten free so we made the decision to stay and have dinner under poor info. Soooo disappointing. I was so excited. I am leaving drunk and hungry. Good thing hubby is driving. It doesn't take much to substitute glutenous soy sauce with gf tamari or gf soy sauce...how awesome would it be if they did. Then almost all dishes would be available to most everyone. But for now if you have issues with gluten, have a drink at the bar and then go across the street to select where you will have a great meal and plenty of options. That is what I wish I had done.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with this restaurant! Everything about it is amazing. There is a really great outdoor seating area... the inside seating is roomy and the decor is adorable. The food is out of this world... it's served super hot and absolutely perfect every time! Our server was just lovely! She was friendly and knowledgeable and beyond helpful. We had an awesome experience here. Can't wait to go back! Thanks NAM Kitchen!

Yelp
First of all, this place was hands down one of the best restaurants I've been to in awhile. The area is great, parking was easy, service was amazing, great food and drinks as well! Garrett aka Alien was just the best waiter everrrr. He recommended all the RIGHT THINGS! We started off with the shrimp tempura, salmon rolls, and tuna tartar with chips! Amazinggggg!! Then we had the Grilled beef short ribs and OMGGGG *chefs kiss* I highly recommend. I even took another order of it to go! The drinks were great as well (shoutout to the bartender). Overall experience was 10/10, I will definitely be back soon! & hopefully Garrett is my waiter again :) thanks for the amazing service!!!

Yelp
Great vibes and great food. We ordered the beef pho and the pork clay pot. Both were amazing! It was the perfect pairing for us to share. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This place is great. I love the outside patio, it definitely gives me a downtown feel. I came here just for drinks but I did pop inside to pay. There are so many nice things to buy inside, a great selection of wine and wine glasses. I had the lychee martini, it did not disappoint. I will definitely come back in the future

Yelp
A perfect addition to the neighborhood. The space itself is an architect's dream, from the woodwork to the wine racks to the multiple flat screens (which were doubling as artwork with slideshows scrolling). Bonus! There are special touches throughout the space. Sat at the bar and ordered the Beef Pho. It was wonderful in taste and aroma! Fresh veggies and a mouthwatering broth. You can never go wrong with a hot bowl of pho on a cold evening! The bartender was very attentive, chatty, and made a killer cocktail. All the things I love in a bartender. Killer wine selection with a few beers on tap and bottle. Nam's ambience perfect for date nights and family dinners. They offer larger table for when the gangs all together and smaller nooks for when you want to be close. But honestly with a wraparound bar who needs a table. ‍ 2 hours free parking in the garage is another perk.
