Get A Table At The Hottest Restaurants In Miami With Chase Sapphire Reserve - Miami - The Infatuation

"Nami Nori makes sense for the Design District. The sushi restaurant, which comes to us from New York, specializes in taco-shaped handrolls you can assemble yourself (unless you’re sitting at the sushi counter, in which case they’ll just hand them to you). The temaki sets of five range from $24 to $32, a bargain considering you can easily spend upwards of $50 if you go a la carte. And the dining room is covered in wood that looks like it came from Japanese cypress trees used to make saunas." - team infatuation

Nami Nori works for a not-too-filling lunch, but not much else - Review - Miami - The Infatuation

"Nami Nori makes sense for the Design District. It’s perfect for an unsubstantial meal right before purchasing a $500 belt from Gucci across the street. It has the bright and clean look of an Apple Store, and it’s as transactional as one too. The sushi restaurant, which comes to us from New York, specializes in taco-shaped handrolls you can assemble yourself (unless you’re sitting at the sushi counter, in which case they’ll just hand them to you). They range from good to slightly underwhelming. The rice has a pleasant saltiness from a quick soak in soy sauce, but we crave more from the fillings themselves. The salmon serrano lacks spice, and sometimes the fish gets lost in the busy handrolls. The tuna poke tastes almost indistinguishable from the scallop. photo credit: Sebastian Lucrecio photo credit: Nami Nori Miami photo credit: Sebastian Lucrecio photo credit: Nami Nori Miami The temaki sets of five are the most financially responsible decision one can make here. They range from $24 to $32, and you can easily spend upwards of $50 if you follow your instincts and go a la carte. The non-handroll portion of the menu has small plates like a (not so) spicy tuna dip that are generally not worth the extra money. Come starving and you might accidentally wrack up a special occasion bill for an otherwise casual lunch. The dining room is covered in wood that looks like it came from Japanese cypress trees used to make saunas. But during the weekend lunch rush, there is nothing relaxing about the place. Servers frantically dart around the dining room, which is narrow enough to cause the occasional handroll to go tumbling off its tray. The pros of Nami Nori (decent handrolls) just aren’t quite enough to make it a spot worth prioritizing. For good handrolls in a similarly sleek space, go to Omakai Hand Roll Bar instead. Food Rundown photo credit: Mariana Trabanino Tempura Misto These tempura shrimp and vegetable fries are topped with calabrian chili and come with a yuzu aioli. They’re crispy, spicy, and they're almost more exciting than the temaki sets. If you get something other than handrolls, make it this. photo credit: Sebastian Lucrecio Nami Nori Salad The wasabi oil and rice chips are the only ingredients separating this from a simple wedge salad. Still, it’s a refreshing starter that'll temporarily hold down a grumbling stomach. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino Signature Set This is the best and most efficient way to do Nami Nori. The set includes tuna poke, scallop, coconut shrimp, salmon serrano, and cucumber black sesame handrolls. It’s a nice representation of the handroll options, and a fine lunch if you're not that hungry. photo credit: Sebastian Lucrecio Spicy Tuna Dip Our server said it was to die for. It’s not even worth chipping a nail. photo credit: Nami Nori Miami Spicy Lobster At $12, the spicy lobster temaki is one of the more expensive handrolls on the menu, but it’s not worth it. The lobster is bland and uneven in temperature." - Mariana Trabanino

Google
My friend selected this location because we both enjoy sushi. It's a small space and the service was decent. We felt a little rush by the waitress but we got over it. The place overall was lovely. The menu was simple and straight forward. It's a bit on the pricey side which isn't surprising based on the location. Now is it worth the price eh, l've had better. Hence why I'm giving three stars which I rarely do. But I was underwhelmed by the food. There are better sushi spots in Miami. We both had the starter set.

Had a great time. The place is really nice but my wife got sick with the food there. I had the vegan option and was spared but she had the standard set and potato salad with salmon roe and was up all night with stomach issues. Won’t be visiting again. Beware of food safety stuff while there.

We loved this place! We walked in for lunch and sat at the maki counter. The chefs are right there and prepare your order in front of you—super fresh and delicious. We started with the spicy tuna dip, which comes with crispy rice chips. Very spicy indeed—but we loved it! Then, we each had a signature set, which includes five varieties of their most delicious makis. You can also order as many as you like and choose from more options à la carte. Without a doubt, the best one is the coconut shrimp. The place looks beautiful, and the ambiance is perfect. If I had to say something, the service was a little slow, but since we were at the counter watching everything, it was entertaining. I don’t know if this could be an issue if you’re seated elsewhere. We were told the restaurant is open at night, although it hasn’t been updated on Google. We’ll definitely come back!

Google
We stumbled upon this Japanese bar completely by accident while looking for a different place – and what a discovery it was! The interior is minimalist and cozy, but the real highlight is the food – absolutely delicious. The selection of Temaki is diverse and top quality; it’s hard to pick a favorite. And the mochurros… simply incredible! They reminded me of small, crispy cottage cheese doughnuts – I’ve never had anything quite like them. Everything was so delicate and flavorful that you wouldn’t want to pair it with anything too strong – maybe just a glass of good champagne. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
Everything was incredible and I can’t wait to try the entire menu! Matcha margarita has the perfect balance of flavors. Highly recommend the lobster and the maitake temaki. Don’t miss out on the sesame choc chip cookies for dessert!

Google
Great atmosphere and the open-style sushi hand rolls are a very entertaining way to enjoy your meal. The fish and all ingredients taste very fresh. The service could have been a little more attentive but they were very polite plus food and drinks came out quickly. You can customize your orders or select a set of hand rolls. The appetizers were great and the sesame chocolate chip cookies were the perfect way to end the meal.

Google
I can’t say enough about this spot! My husband and I have become regulars and we live 45 mins away. The parking is so easy! The temaki hand rolls hit every time. The caviar service is fantastic. You must try the triple; it’s toro, uni and a large dollop of caviar. Worth every penny!

Google
Nami Nori specializes in a sushi that more resembles a taco, but my goodness are they delicious. Each bite is an explosion of flavors. The pricing isn't too bad either, but I wanted to commend our waiter. Stephon was charming, polite, helpful, diligent and all around a joy to be around. He'd make even the worst restaurant that much better, but here he really rounds out the great experience. Bring Nami Nori to the west coast, and bring Stephon with you! Food recommendations: get the signature set, and don't miss out on the mochurros (churros made with mochi flour, so just as crispy outside but even chewier inside.)

Yelp
Food was great and unique. Service was good. Fun to make your own hand roll! Sat at the bar and was excited to try something new in Miami. Since we're half in Miami and half in nyc want to check out the nyc location in the west village as well!

Yelp
It was good- not great! Sat easily, no reservation, around 5:30 on a Saturday. The chefs counter is a neat experience. When you sit down they let you know that you can only order the temaki in sets of five. The standouts were the xo scallop, toro scallion, and spicy lobster. Everything was tasty and quick. The portions were really small. For 5 temakis (like a small handroll), one cocktail, and one tuna dip app, we spent $120. The water was $10, because we said still instead of tap - our mistake. The cocktail was fine. Tip was included which is standard in miami now. I wouldn't come here hungry. Glad we tried it, I don't know if it would be on our list to come back to given all of the variety in this area of miami, nothing was memorable enough sadly.

Yelp
So much potential. From a celiac prospective this is heaven - 100% gluten free. From a birthday perspective- this isnt a celebration or feel special kinda place. Patio is a nice vibe but the kitchen somehow easily forgets you exist. Advice to order all at once when you arrive - dont split the order like we did. 2 hours and 15 mins and we had to leave with no dessert for a bday celebration. Appetizers came out within 15-20 min. Main course took over 45 mins and after waiting for 40 mins we left. Server was the sweetest- celebrating his bday too and tried so hard with zero help. He was bussing tables, taking all orders on the patio and no one expediting or assisting. Destined to fail this way. On our way out the door he handed us the cookies we ordered 45 min prior and boxed them for us. Dessert on the car-ride home was excellent. As for the actual food - Best bites of the night were miso sauce with shishitto peppers, plain fries, eggplant, and chocolate chip cookie. The fries - we didnt love the sprinkled topping - but got them re-fired plain and were happy - fries are a gluten free treat. The rice cake with mushroom topping was just ok for me. Eggplant was the star, sweet potato was blah, and avocado toast was blah. Our kiddo loves yellowtail but spit this sushi out. :( Hubs loves the seafood soup - and had 5 hand rolls which he enjoyed (when they finally arrived). Takeaways - dont sit on patio - youre forgotten. Order all at once.

Yelp
Pretty minimalist space. It's a nice experience. Very good quality food. Everything made fresh to order, in front of you. Everything is small 2-bite handrolls. Mostly unusual types. They also have some appetizers. We had spicy tuna dip with homemade crackers. It was very tasty. But the waiter tells you right off it doesn't come with enough crackers and recommends getting an additional order. This place is very expensive and I honestly find it really obnoxious for them to do that. Just throw a couple more crackers on the plate. It really only needed like two more. Also I definitely recommend getting the temaki sets rather than picking your own 5 pieces. It's much less expensive. Overall, I'd say it was fine. Not amazing. I think this was a one and done.

Yelp
I'm surprised by the low reviews so far, but they mostly don't have anything to do with the food. I just had lunch here, did counter service, and I thoroughly enjoyed it and would come back. I saw another review that the price is high, but I actually disagree. I think this is a great deal for hand rolls / also think that the amount and quality of fish is better than what I expected at this price point. It's in the middle - I wasn't like this is the most insane bargain ever, but the pricing was very solid for what I got. Arguable that the scallop hand roll elsewhere would be closer to $20. Is this the most classic omakase / hand roll place ever? Not really, but I enjoyed everything that I had. I enjoyed the extra toppings and crunch on things. I did the signature temaki, and I would eat it again + I did add a domestic uni to my set. It was super clean, minimalist, staff was friendly, and food was really solid. Fast because it's a hand roll spot. Will be returning, and I hope these yelp reviews even out soon / they get their ops together more (even though it was great when I went).

Yelp
Incredible Food Tarnished by Tumultuous Operations Having heard a lot about Nami Nori from New York, we decided to give it a try. A word of advice: reservations are highly recommended, as this place fills up quickly. The Food: Nami Nori's menu is simple but remarkable. From the kitchen, we tried the shishito peppers and mushroom dip--both were incredible. They were full of flavor, with unique ingredient combinations I hadn't seen before but that worked beautifully together. The real star of the menu, however, is the temaki. You can choose from preset menus for around $30 or build your own mix of 5 temakis, which typically costs $40 and up. Note that there's a 5-temaki minimum per order. We tried one preset menu and selected 5 custom rolls. The temakis stood out for their fresh fish and distinct ingredient pairings. While some combinations were innovative, the quality of the fish was the real highlight. Overall, I would rate the food 4.5 stars, especially considering the price. Expect to spend around $40-50 per person (excluding drinks). The Operations: Unfortunately, the operational side of things significantly marred the experience. While the servers were friendly, the entire process was chaotic from start to finish. We had reserved outdoor seating, but despite available tables, we were seated at the bar because other outdoor tables had "just been seated." The bar area was hectic--it took over 15 minutes for a server to take our drink order and even longer to place our food order. Water glasses were barely refilled, and our food took 30-40 minutes to arrive. It's clear that Nami Nori is still working out its operations. The current state of disorganization made the experience far less enjoyable than it could have been, overshadowing the otherwise incredible food. Final Thoughts: If Nami Nori can streamline its service and improve the overall dining experience, it has the potential to be a 5-star destination. I'll visit again in a few weeks and update this review accordingly. For now, the outstanding food deserves another try despite the rocky service. My Criteria: 5 stars: The best food I have ever had, or an excellent option given the price. 4 stars: Good food, a restaurant I look forward to trying again. 3 stars: Good food, a restaurant that I am indifferent to. 2 stars: Below average experience, will not go again. 1 star: This restaurant should be closed.

Yelp
Nice new spot in the design district. Tuna app is delicious and the fries are out of this world. Some of the best I've ever had. Hand rolls are good but didn't blow my socks off. Shitaake mushroom might have been my favorite. If you come hungry you will have to order a lot and it adds up quickly. Good experience but not dying to return.

Yelp
Been seeing this on instagram and decided to try. Had high hopes since I love the hand roll style. The food was absolutely incredible. From the furokake fries to all the different temakis, what a hit! Dying to try the churros desert! They've just opened in miami so naturally the service is still trying to find their flow! The price is the sake was a bit expensive for no reason, but then again, miami design district prices! The ambiance is vibes! Felt comfortable and cozy!

Yelp
I have a hard time giving places 3 stars when I enjoyed the food and the service was good - but man, is this place expensive! Between two people, we each had 5 hand rolls and split the churros and it was $70 each. The rolls were small, but tasty. I did not leave full, by any means, and was grateful to be going to a second dinner afterward. You might say- well you should have known you'd leave hungry going to a hand roll bar. WRONG! Omakai Hand Roll Bar has huge, fat portions for half the price, and just as delicious and high quality. The difference is a larger menu at Nami Nori and a more unique taste- which i do appreciate. On to the rolls- the scallop roll was delicious! And made in a way that i have never seen on a menu or tasted before. It was sweet, spicy, and salty! Very good. The toro and scallion, though a classic, was extremely fresh and tasty. The spicy crab dynamite was served HOT, crunchy, and creamy. The kanpachi & lobster also tasty. Service was quick and knowledgeable, though the hours are definitely strange. Maybe it's because they just opened. All in all, though the food was good, because of the high prices and the fact that for the price, I left hungry - I won't be going back.

Yelp
Yumm alert!! Hello perfect lunch spot. Visited for Valentine's Day lunch and it was delicious. We sat at the sushi bar, is a small restaurant very light and simple decor doesn't scream miami in your face. The attention was on point and so was their food. We chose their hand rolls special and they were oh so yummy, with our favorites one being the shrimp and their miso. Is funny because the miso and cucumber one is the last one they give you and in your head looking at it doesn't look that appetizing but boy it is delicious. Their ceviche was also perfect. They have house cocktails which we found yummy but lacking alcohol, switch to rose which was a great choice. Will definitely come back for lunch again, great addition to the design district.

Yelp
Very different and particular, somewhat like an omakase ambience and cute decor. I loved their take on hand rolls considered here "temaki" that come with your choice of 5 or you can choose chefs preference. I sat at the bar and the service was nice and friendly!

Yelp
Quality of food was beyond amazing. A bit pricy for the amount of food that's offered. Service was spectacular! No icecream on the dessert menu, but there's a delicious icecream place next to it (alcohol infused too).

Yelp

Yelp
Nami No-Thank You! Come on people.....get your act together. If you are going to seat people at a crammed bar, at least have the hospitality and presence of mind to clean the counter before seating the guests and placing menus on the dirty counter. Details matter!! Also, the waiter forgot to replace our plates after the first course, jumbled around with my chopsticks (just leave it!!!), didn't ask if we wanted another drink after the first round, and was simply too poorly trained to even notice or care his service was terrible. This place is for the Miami cattle following the herd to the supposed next hottest import from NYC. Please don't New York my Miami!!! Next!!!

Yelp
We went to Nami Nori at the Miami Design District for lunch this last Saturday . I did not have a reservation and the hostess placed my name on the wait list. It took almost an hour to get in. It seems that the hostess was over realmed . Finally we got our table we placed our order with the waiter named Walter who was taking orders from all front tables and sushi bar, we order miso soup and sashimi and 6 of the hand tools. Drinks and soap and sashimi was served within 20 minutes but we had to wait more than and hour an a half for our rolls. They said they had a glitch in there system. As the order did not arrive I finally gave up and ordered the bill, just got tired of waiting. All of a sudden my ordered arrived after I ordered the bill. I refused it as I told the waiter that we were leaving after waiting for our order for such a long period . The manager arrived , she apologized for the delay and offered to not charge me for the food and drinks I ordered of which I kindly refused. We accepted her apology and received our rolls and paid our bill. The food is very good but I would really avoid this restaurant until they get their act together.
