"I always love my first meal to be a lobster roll from Nancy’s. It’s probably the most famous restaurant in Oak Bluffs and is rumored to be President Obama’s favorite on the island."

Google
Mixed results here - the butter based lobster roll was a bit unfortunate. It was missing a good amount of butter. The mayo version tasted better. The onion rings are thin but good. Don't get quahog - it's all bread stuffing.

Nancy’s is a comfortable place, the staff is very humble and the situation is scenic. The food was good, but expensive. We had hummus and pita n fried calamari as starters. In the main course the lobster roll wasn’t very good, just loaded with too much butter. The baked Cod with the veggies was excellent

This restaurant was recommended to us by our Airbnb host. We elected to sit upstairs in the full service, open air restaurant. We had no wait, luckily arriving just before the dinner rush on a Friday night in July around 6:30 pm. There weren’t any stools around the perimeter open, so we got a table in the first row, but the harbor view is really blocked by the folks sitting on the stools. Was definitely a lively weekend crowd, a bit noisy, even though it is open air. Dusk was nice, though a bank of clouds prevented an actual sunset. Service was good. We had the Baked Cod entrée which was a huge portion of cod, cooked and seasoned well and served with tasty broiled potatoes and steamed green beans that could have used a bit more seasoning. Nice wine selection. The Smash Burger was also a good size and flavorful, though we somehow didn’t get the side of fries with it that we ordered, but coleslaw instead.

Google
We had high expectations for Nancy’s, given its iconic location in Oak Bluffs and the buzz around it — but unfortunately, the experience missed the mark. We waited over 30 minutes without being greeted by a server, and our drinks took longer to arrive than our sushi roll. The food itself was okay, but the service really soured the night. Hoping it was just an off evening, but sadly, it was a letdown for us.

Google
Great place overlooking the harbor. Very friendly and attentive wait staff. We only had 1 foos item which was okay. (Old bay clam chowder fries with bacon. Was different but good) great place to wait for your ferry.

Google
Great stop for lunch when we got off the ferry! Food and harbor views were what we needed, they were able to accommodate a group size of 6 with a short wait too. I really liked the local art vending machine on the second floor!

Google
Nancy's was recommended by a few people we talked to on our trip, however, my BF and I agreed that we could get the same items we ordered from home in NJ...if not a little better. The service and atmosphere were pretty decent, especially the views from the top deck dining room!

We visited on a Tuesday just before 5pm during the 1st heatwave of the year. We needed relief from the stifling weather, and since they were suggested by the organizers of the replica of the Orca (boat from Jaws) we chose Nancy’s Restaurant to cool down. When you first enter, you get the sense of some air conditioning, but then we went up the stairs to the restaurant and there was no relief as they had the doorway to the deck wide open. Normally I’d complain about being seated by the kitchen, but I was thankful for the occasional breeze I would get when the staff walked by. Dehydrated from profusely sweating for the past couple hours, I asked if they had bottled spring water - they did! The 28oz Saratoga bottle was served cold and with a glass of ice (SO appreciated!) I drank the whole thing during my stay. My daughter wasn’t very hungry & just wanted to cool down and since there was no hope of that happening from air conditioning, she ordered vanilla ice cream. My husband ordered the double Smashburger. He thought it was good. I originally ordered the Baba Ganoush with vegetables for dipping. I really wasn’t impressed. I can’t put my finger on it, but it had a weird taste to it. (The spice was the best part.) So it was sent back & I kept the carrots & celery sticks. They DO have a Gluten Free menu, so I ended up getting the Smashburger with nothing on it but pickles and mustard. It was yummy! But I only wanted 1/2 of it (it was double meat!) so I cut it in half and gave it to my husband. I give major Kudos to our waitress for so professionally putting up with my idiosyncrasies during this visit (caused by my intolerance of the heatwave.) This is a restaurant I would revisit in the future - maybe when I can tolerate the weather better. 😄

Yelp
We tried not to go back to Nancy's this summer, but here we were last weekend for lunch after finding out that The Overlook had a 1.5 hour wait. Deep sigh. We got a table upstairs and outside, which was pleasant except for the bees, and we basically have the same impression as last year. The food is OK, the servers hustle, and...just...this place is what it is. Opted for the frozen pina coladas this time, and honestly, you could put away ten of those before even blinking. That same formula of alcohol+sugar+ice serves them well! Our daughter got a comically overpriced bowl of buttered pasta for kids (eye roll re. that choice) and two of us split the clam strips platter and the salmon BLT. The latter was wonderful except for that fact that it was SO greasy--you seriously needed a dozen napkins because it was leaking everywhere. The accompanying side salad was fine. And funny how we got the clam strips again because we had the same thoughts as last year that you taste more batter than you do mollusk, ah well. Maybe the bellies are better? Anyway, a bit more of a positive experience this year, but overall the same impression in that this is a pleasant enough restaurant that fails to impress but is an MV institution, so respect it for what it is.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch while it was raining. Sat upstairs and enjoyed the rainy views with some drinks and food. I tried the pink panther and show me your spritz cocktails. They were pretty good. The salmon BLT also hit the spot. It was a busy Sunday for lunch despite the rainy weather. A nice spot overall to grab lunch or just drinks. The waiter was attentive enough.

Yelp
Your typical fried seafood summer spot! We sat outside in the picnic table area because we had our dog! Loved that there Were umbrellas for those seeking shade. I got the lobster roll, very standard lobster roll, not great not bad. The whole Belly clams were good but on the smaller side (I know this depends on the season) The dirty bananas were good, however when watching them make it a couple times we notified he was forgetting the banana liquor so it was a classic mudslide a few times which was ok but they should pay more attention. All and all a typical touristy spot!
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
Went back to Nancy's and got the lobster roll and clam chowder (loved that chowder)! Had to get another Dirty Banana from my boy Donovan.
google avatar

Sherry W.

Yelp
I ordered from the takeout counter outside. $16 for an amazing gryo. They use high quality ingredients. There are picnic benches to sit on and eat with a view of the harbor.
google avatar

Jillian C.

Yelp
What a cool spot so close to the ferry! I came here with a group of 8 for lunch on a Friday. We came at the right time because there was plenty of seating for us in the picnic table section, but it was packed by the time we left. The food came out very quickly and the bartender was very friendly. Can't come here and not get a mudslide or dirty banana! The only reason that I am giving Nancy's 4 stars is because the food was mediocre. I ordered a chicken gyro and the pita bread was falling apart. The taste was just okay. However, I appreciated the large portions! I'd absolutely come back here on my next trip to MV.
google avatar

Ambika S.

Yelp
Not sure why this place doesn't have 4-5 star ratings. We loved the views, service and food. It was all very delicious. And their lobster roll is out of the world delicious, it was so good that i miss it and wish i could go back just to eat it
google avatar

Yelp
Waiting for the ferry back to the mainland. Nancy's looked like the best spot for drinks and snacks. Loved the bar overlooking the boats. Great service great drinks . Loved the chowder fries. They are a meal to have.
google avatar

Sydney F.

Yelp
surprisingly really good sushi. the dumplings were okay but the drinks made up for it. there's always great energy inside and outside and although im not a dirty banana fan its always a pleasure seeing donovan!
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
great view of the water esp as the sun was setting but the shrimp was kinda mid. you'd think it'd be better because it should be super fresh?? but it was just ok. also for the portions it was kinda expensive too. order at the counter then you can seat yourself wherever which makes for a more efficient meal
google avatar

Lauren F.

Yelp
Food is good, nothing spectacular. But the place is right on the water and they have a beautiful view and the vibe that you want and would expect on the island. Donovan's bar outside is an extension and he makes delicious drinks, and is known for the Dirty Banana drink. For a fun and fast quick lunch or dinner, Nancy's is a good choice.
google avatar

Barbara K.

Yelp
This a wonderful place! They have patio seating, rooftop and indoor dining to accommodate their guests. The drinks were good, and food is also good. With ocean view, good service often makes this place pretty busy
google avatar

Jack T.

Yelp
A cool little sea side restaurant about 500 feet when you get off the ferry. Their rooftop and deck space is really cool but not that much of views. Burgers and lobster rolls and cocktails. Food was decent and drinks were fancy but regular. They have a really cool patio space where you can get concessions food and cocktails at a kiosk then go sit at a bench on the patio and look at the marina. Good for large groups and groups of 4.

Yelp
Nancy's was phenomenal. From Franklin's outstanding service, care, and conversation with us to the quality of the food served. Highly recommend if you are in the area and need a place with a view to grab a bite. The lobster salad roll was delicious with large chunks of lobster in every bite. We will definitely return next time we are in the area.

Nancy P.

Yelp
Always great food from seafood to mid eastern fare Also a great lobster roll. And you have to have one of Donovan's hand made drinks. This was the first summer I was disappointed with belly fried clams. Very greasy and some were inedible . Great outdoor seating
google avatar

Winter B.

Yelp
Nancy's is an iconic spot in the center of Oak Bluffs. I ate outside where you order at the counter but you can also sit down here. It overlooks the water very nice view. The prices are steep but so is every other restaurant in MV. They do give you a good size portion which is nice. I really liked the lobster roll. Food comes out quickly. I would recommend for a quick bite when you're craving something greasy and fried.
google avatar

Melanie G.

Yelp
This place is a beautiful place to end the day at Martha's Vineyard! I definitely recommend to sit at their upstairs terrace for beautiful views of the marina at sunset! We started off with the Dirty Banana. It definitely lived up to all the hype! It was the perfect balance of sweet and strong! We then ordered the food: it took a bit long to receive, but there was a lot of people considering it was 4th of July weekend. The wings were excellent. I wish the calamari had been a bit crispier, but the plum ginger glaze was a nice sweet touch. The only negative is the terrace area is first come first serve. This may get a bit hectic with busy weekends! Overall good experience!
google avatar

Odis B.

Yelp
The food is always better than the last visit: lobster rolls and seafood platter are always amazing but I hate being rushed!
google avatar

George S.

Yelp
Simply the best place on Martha's Vineyard for fried clams and fried shrimp...the drinks are great too. My wife and I have been coming here for a generation and it has never disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm going to keep this short for you guys but be cautious going here and make sure you don't have Franklin as your server. I've been coming here every night for a week and a half and I order the same thing every night, a plain bacon cheeseburger. This guy brought out a cheeseburger with spicy mayo and some other stuff on it so I just asked him to bring it back to the kitchen and get a new one and he argued with me and was pretty rude with my father and escalated things with him for no reason. He continued to sit there and argue and ended up ruining the dinner with his antics. I've been coming here for a while now and never had a problem with anyone else as they are all great servers but watch out for this guy.

Yelp
This icon certainly has maintained its shine and is one of the best spots on the Island to eat - on a food and menu basis only. Add to that the view, vibe, and the outdoor seating and you can't go wrong. The sushi is excellent- the yellow tail - which I usually do not even order or eat is my single favorite sushi plate in the world, edging out Uni with quail egg and salmon with or without avocado at multiple diverse different locations. It's fresh, clean, crisp, flavorful but not overly fishy. It's actually so good it's a talked about item. The appetizers include many Nancy's specialty sauces and do not taste the same. For example the Nancy's Shrimp is way different than than the mussels appetizer. Both come with insanely tasty and crispy soft bread to soak up the not overly greasy sauce. Tip -ask for extra bread out of the gate. The calamari is literally perfect. It's not frozen, not overly breaded, and soft and melt in your mouth good. Do not think you have ever tried real calamari until you tried it at Nancy's. I only wish they offered it Rhode Island style. They might, I never asked. Caveats: A wait is occasionally a PITA, but you may not have a wait, and if you do there's an obvious common sense reason. The service can occasionally be spotty, but they are personable and you simply need to keep on them.

Yelp
Spent 3 days in Oak Bluffs and stayed at a BnB. I asked the inn keeper where to grab lunch on the day I arrived and he mentioned Nancy's. Boy was I happy to make my way down to the marina and grab lunch at Nancy's. I had the lobster lunch which was a 1.5 lb lobster with potatoes and corn on the cob. The lobster was awesome!!!! I washed it down with a Blue Moon. My wife had the BOYB lobster tacos and they were great also. I was not able to snap a pic of the BYOB lobster tacos but the presentation was nice. It was a half lobster with all the taco trimmings. I highly recommend Nancy's and it is a must visit place while in Oak Bluffs.
google avatar

Jeff W.

Yelp
Lobster Toll not so good. Was hard and without flavor. Fries were terrible try using real potato's instead of cheap manufactured product. Still have heartburn for a $50 lunch.

Marissa L.

Yelp
When I went around 7pm, I hit the end of happy hour so the ambiance was a loud and hectic, however at around 7:30/8 it was less crowded and calmed down. We were able to have an amazing view of the sunset over the water which became one of the highlights of my trip to Martha's Vineyard. The food was fantastic. The lobster meat was packed with flavor and tasted fresh. The only two complaints we had was, we were hoping for more lobster meat for the entrees and the lobster roll was very buttery. We also tried their banana mud slide that they are known for, 10/10 recommend. The service was good for how packed the restaurant was , no complaints. Food came out quickly and the server was very nice. I would definitely commend going to Nancy's if you're taking a trip to Martha's Vineyard, great place to get a drink, food, and watch the sunset.

Yelp
I was visiting the area last week and stopped in Nancy's for dinner with a group of six. We were seated immediately outside, which was a nice surprise. To eat I got the fish and chips. My boyfriend got the clam chowder to start and lobster roll meal. The table also got the calamari and shrimp cocktail. My fish and chips were good but nothing amazing. It was pretty average. My boyfriend said the clam chowder was just okay and had too many things in it. He did like the lobster roll. Those with us who got the calamari said it lacked flavor and had no seasoning outside of the sauce on top. Others in our group also got the seafood boil, which they enjoyed. And another got the sushi and they unfortunately did not like it. Overall, everything was pretty average. There are way better options food wise on the island. It's also pretty pricey for the quality. However, the drinks and views from Nancy are real nice. It's more of a place to go for just drinks and to hang with friends.

Suzi K.

Yelp
I have been going to Nancy's for more than 30 years. Never again. We were served lobster with liver inside the tail which is apparently a delicacy. Not in the U.S., although the manager said his parents love it. It was disgusting, he wouldn't take it off the bill, or replace it with a new one. Worst experience.
google avatar

Melonie O.

Yelp
Food here was ok. I loved their chowder but the lobster roll left much to be desired. Service was good and Ambiance at the vineyard was nice. Would go back and would recommend
google avatar

Madison B.

Yelp
Great drink selections. Witnessed another guest "tell on" my friend and i for wearing swimsuit in a beachside restaurant and we got a talking to. Our bill was insane so let's just enjoy the island life and not focus on other peoples bodies yikes

Yelp
Started our Labor Day retreat in Martha's Vineyard at Nancy's. The vibe is everything here. Overlooking the harbor we scanned the menu while listening to reggae music. We started off with a spicy salmon sushi roll. (good). Next we shared a Shrimp Nancy (superb), fish tacos were mediocre since they were under seasoned and became soggy from being platted with the salad. Margarita had too much ice and not enough tequila and the same for their Mexican mule( tasty but weak). We will return to try their delicious looking shrimp or scallop baskets.

Stacy C.

Yelp
I had the lobster roll and "mixed greens". The roll was small and the salad was literally just mixed greens, no other toppings. The lobster was cooked fine and tasted good but just not worth what I paid because of the small amount of food in my lunch. I would not recommend. What saved this review was the ambiance of the restaurant. Lovely dinning room and nice view. It is not a view of the ocean though. This restaurant is not positioned to view the ocean. It's more of an inlet that you're looking at.

John H.

Yelp
We've been going to the Vineyard for 10 years, and Nancys has always been a trip staple. This year, however, we were left very dissatisfied. We waited over 40 minutes for two drinks, and had one of our ID's confiscated and the police called to check it's validity. It took over an hour to get the ID back, and while we ended up getting the ID holder a drink, nothing was comped and no apologies were given. Food was okay, but for three of us it came before our drinks. We were one of five tables there. We will not be going back to Nancys.

Yelp
Went to Nancy's for the first time when visiting Martha's Vineyard. I enjoyed the Caliente Fresca as a refreshing slightly spicy mix. The mac and cheese was quite good, but very filling and rich. I ended up eating about half. No complaints with the amount of lobster included in the dish and it wasn't super cheesy, which I appreciated.
google avatar

Ahashta J.

Yelp
Every blog, post, article and book I read mentions this place. Believe it was Melia Obama's previous place of employment, but don't quote me on that. Anyway, it was hard to passed up. We opted to order take out along the side as opposed to sitting down upstairs. There is self seating out there and very crowded. We went back to the house. Lunch for a family of four was $120 without beverages. It was delicious. Lobster roll, warm was the better of the two. Slathered in butter and wrapped in great fresh toasted bread. Lobster roll, traditional tossed in mayo and wrapped in same great roll, was good too. We had a pint of fried jumbo shrimp, classically prepared and cocktail sauce was good, very horseradish forward. My son had the bacon cheeseburger, says it had good char and plenty of bacon. Large fries and buffalo wings completed our order. My daughter wants to return for more wings before we go home. Friendly and efficent service was the icing on top. Worth the wait. It was packaged neatly, survived the bumpy ride despite all the butter and sauce.

Yelp
The location is great, the upper patio has a nice view onto the Marina so it's a good spot to enjoy the sunset from. I ordered the clam linguini which tasted fine, but lacked flavor overall. Maybe some salt, pepper and a squeeZe of lemon could have elevated it - overpriced otherwise - not worth the $32 they charged for it. It came with so much liquid sauce that I asked for some bread, for which they charged me another $2. Go for the views, but if you want to go for the food, this isn't it.
google avatar

Chia B.

Yelp
Nancy's has an excellent location great for day drinking, watching a sunset, or having drinks with friends at night! If you go to Nancy's, go for that and appetizers. I tried the clam chowder, Nancy's roll, cod fish tacos, and the Gigi. My clam chowder was ok. Not the best you'll get in the area, but better than the chowder served out of state. The Gigi was underwhelming. The cod fish tacos were disappointing. They tasted completely bland and I struggled to eat them. Nancy's sushi roll was the star of the night. If I returned I would focus on the appetizers and sushi.
google avatar

Michelle D.

Yelp
Very good food and service nice ocean Nice ocean veiws. Off the harbor it is at the vinys
google avatar

Susanna Y.

Yelp
Excellent service, the staff is incredibly accommodating. The food, on the other hand, wasn't as great as I'd expected based on the reviews. Two of us were excited to get the lobster mac & cheese and sure it tasted pretty okay, but for the price -- frankly, it was kind of disappointing. The portion size was small. The cheese sauce consistency was watery and not as flavorful. Most surprisingly -- there wasn't much lobster meat. I could've gotten more lobster meat had I ordered a lobster roll for a cheaper price. Beyond that, they make their drinks strong, the views are gorgeous. But, the food isn't too great.
google avatar

Jim S.

Yelp
The lobster roll was perfect. Not overly done with too much ingredients. Fresh lobster and a little mayo. The roll was toasted with butter. Delicious. We love over looking the harbor. The service was good and the ambiance just right.

Yelp
I went to Oak Bluffs during the July 4th holiday week in Martha's Vineyard for the first time. Nancy's had been highly recommended to me by various friends who reside on the island during the season, so I decided to go there for lunch right after I got off the plane from New York. It offers indoor and outdoor dining options. Both levels of the establishment were filled to the rafters so be prepared. The first people I met were DeeDee and Victoria who are part of the staff. They are amazing servers and best friends and made me feel right at home. They took great care of me. After I finally checked into my Airbnb, I decided to head back there later that evening for dinner. They greeted me with big, warm smiles and were happy that I had returned so soon. I met friends there later that night and during the week, including a close girlfriend who I was vacationing with. I arrived in OB a day before her. All of the food I had was delicious! They have a very extensive menu with different price points so there's something there for everyone. My favorites were the warm lobster roll (I didn't try the cold, which is usually my go-to), the lobster dinner, which my girlfriend and I really enjoyed. (It's served with small potatoes and corn on the cob.), oysters, and their delectable sushi selection. Everything was on point. For drinks, everyone seemed to be enjoying the dirty bananas, which is really just a mudslide blended with a half banana. It's their signature drink and hugely popular. So if you're heading to MV, be sure to head to Nancy's and tell DeeDee and Victoria that JuJu sent you! Have fun and travel safely.

Yelp
I am extremely happy that I made it to Nancy's on the last night of my week long trip to Martha's Vineyard. The entire experience was near flawless! Franklin our server was friendly, extremely attentive, and come to find out he was new to Nancy's. The food was delicious. I have to highly recommend both the Mussels that we shared and the Clam Pasta. They both came out sizzling hot and seasoned to perfection. I ended up ordering not 1 but 2 Coco Loco Margarita's to wash it down, what a refreshing cocktail thanks to Franklin. Overall a great experience and I will definitely be going back my next visit. Highly recommended!!!

Yelp
Atmosphere: It's right on the pier. Beautiful place. Always packed. Indoor and outdoor seating. I mean it's Martha's Vineyard, You know the vibe. Wait time for seating: 25 mins to an hour (it really depends). Make reservations Order to table time: 10-15 minutes (not bad at all given how packed it is) Food: I ordered grilled salmon. It was cooked to perfection. With that many people, I thought the food wasn't going to be as good but I was surprised. One of the people in our part ordered their lobster roll and love it. Overall a great place. If the wait is long no worries. There's plenty to do. Also, if you're getting frustrated due to longer wait. Don't be in Martha's Vineyard, you're killin the vibe bro

Sadye B.

Yelp
Drinks here were great! Food was decent but there was good service. If you are looking for a quieter dinner, I recommend sitting inside. We sat outside on deck and it was very loud.
google avatar

Jeannine N.

Yelp
I was told to come here for the lobster rolls, and I am so happy I did. The lobster rolls were absolutely delicious. I even went up for seconds. This is an "order at the counter and retrieve your own food with the buzzer" type of place. The patio outside was very casual. The food was so delicious even to the point that people were sitting outside in the rain, under umbrellas, just to enjoy the food. I will definitely choose to have my vineyard lobster roll here again . A good lobster roll is not only determined by the yummy lobster, but the crusted buttery bread underneath. Enjoy! ~Nini

Yelp
Tourist trap. Food is overpriced and mediocre. The cod was over cooked and dry. The drinks are weak. Service is rushed. If you have the ability go further into the island for dinning. Don't waste your money.

Dalia V.

Yelp
We ate lunch at Nancy's on 6/20/24. Pros: wait staff were pleasant and professional; the shrimp and grits meal was very good. Cons: the fish in the fish and chips meal needed a knife to cut through it - it was so overcooked; best way to describe their Ceasar salad with lobster is ceasar soup (it was swimming in dressing) with a small dollop of lobster. Add an ok grilled cheese sandwich and 3 mediocre drinks, the $155 bill was not worth it. Much better restaurants in the area with just as nice views.

Yelp
Over priced drinks but good in general! Beautiful view on the water, will come back again!

Yelp
Delicious food. Self service style. Right on the dock, casual atmosphere. Recommend a visit.

Yelp
Food and service was great! Such a fun and relaxing place to eat while on Martha's Vineyard! Lobster and Mac and cheese was soo good! Definitely be back

Yelp
Food purchased from the outside grill area was ok. The onion rings were onion straws.
