12 Destination-Worthy Farmers Markets in Northern California | Eater

"Before your Saturday wine tasting itinerary, take a stroll through downtown Napa’s farmers market. (It’s also open on Tuesday mornings, for midweek shopping.) The fruit stands here are favorites — fitting for an area known for its grapes. But don’t miss the prepared food stands; some of the best chefs in the region can be found here, serving up everything from sausage rolls to dim sum. A recent debutant: Pasar, which serves Singaporean street food like bowls of mee goreng with beef and shrimp." - Vox Creative

Where to Eat in Oklahoma City | Bon Appétit

"“TheOSU-OKC Farmers Market(400 N Portland Ave) is the biggest and the oldest in the city, and my favorite. It’s on the Oklahoma State University campus and we’ll go at 8 a.m. on Saturdays to make sure we get the best stuff. Sometimes the farmers we work with will want us to try something new. We mainly work with a guy named Wayne Jesko and his farm, W Bar and M, for lamb, juicy berries, obscure melons, rare dandelion greens, and insanely beautiful, giant Napa cabbage. Another farm called Leatherwood is run by Bud and his wife (pictured above), who grow the broad leaf French sorrel that we use in desserts or anywhere that we need an acidic, bright, fruity quality without using lemon, which doesn’t grow here. They have conventional produce plus bitter melons, long beans, and plenty of herbs.”" - ByAlyse Whitney

This Farmers Market is popping. Packed with fresh fruit and veggies, mostly organic, and sprinkled with other venders like jewelry and market bags, and information booths for local places like schools and healthcare. I had the green smoothie and it was delicious and was served in a jar to keep. From an organic farmer, the tiny tomatoes were sweet like desert and the zucchinis were also fresh and delicious. If I was local I would want to sell my craft chocolate here. The Napa Farmers Market is packed and a happening farmers market.

Simply outstanding in every regard. Great produce, fabulous baked goods, outstanding prepared foods, arts and crafts, and services. Come and enjoy. I just bought fresh black figs, radishes and Ranier cherries. Should have had a croissant!

Napa farmers market is nicely located downtown. I love farmers markets! This was our first visit to Napa and my family were impressed how centrally located everything was around downtown. There’s the oxbow across the bridge, lots to see and do downtown, and the farmers market. Napa is a foodie paradise! I would recommend to visit if you’re ever in town!

We were in Napa, CA for a wedding and decided to try shopping for brunch items at the Napa Farmer's Market. What a pleasant surprise to find such yummy choices!! We purchased Argentinian empanadas, pickled saurcraut, kale salad, organic berries, and freshly roasted chicken and vegetables, as well as gifts to take home. Feasts enjoyed for several meals! Thank you, Napa Farmer's Market!

Google
I'll start off with a tip... before you buy anything, walk the rest of the market to see what other options there are. Because for sure, this looks delicious and it will be but you might be disappointed that you are now too full to enjoy this other thing. Yes, there's cookies and cakes and meats and veggies and flowers and produce and coffee and rotisserie chickens and, yes, empanadas! I started off hungry and ended up not only getting breakfast while walking around, I put together the ingredients for dinner. All of the vendors I purchased from accept Google Pay (or Apple Pay) but there were others that maybe would prefer cash. You'll just have to ask. Not much seating but there are some places where you can sit to eat and drink. And there are port-a-potties here as well as the Exeloo public toilets nearby. Be sure to check the signage on your parking meter before walking away.

Yelp
Saturdays from 8am-12pm this is the place to be! You'll see Long Meadow Ranch out here as well as Madeleine's Macarons. We normally go to their actual restaurant/cafe but it was great seeing them both at one location. We bought fresh farm eggs from Long Meadow Ranch. It is definitely family friendly and a very chill vibe. The sign states no pets allowed however I have seen some folks with their fur babies. From cooked cooked meals, frozen items, preserved produce and meats, to raw sealed meats... this place has it all! The produce is amazing! The line was exceptionally long for a specific fruit stand from Stanislaus county! They offered samples for each fruit and the line was worth the wait to make a purchase. My husband particularly loved the green smoothie stall. My daughter loved her cake pop from SammyCakes! Seriously come check this out one morning! Be prepared and bring your bags! If you're stopping by during the summer, prep your face with sunscreen, sunglasses, or a hat.

Yelp
Weather was bad, because I am unable to tolerate the rain since it was chilly, we chose to pick up food to go instead and shop at local stores to continue with our shopping for fruits and veggies. The bad weather didn't stop plenty of vendors from selling a wide selection of fruits and vegetables at their stalls. - I picked up three types of pupusas from the food truck. Well-made with authentic ingredients, they were truly delicious. - Purchased two varieties of frozen bao. Parking was a bit of an issue during heavy rain.

Yelp
Fortunately, I was here on the Saturday so I could go by the farmers market. The fruits and vegetables looked amazing. The cherries and berries. There were so many delicious foods to buy. The onions were huge. I would highly recommend coming here and getting a cup of coffee, if you're in town on Saturday.

Yelp
Amazing farmers market with lots of fresh veggies and many food options in downtown Napa. I would recommend going to Roti. They sell delicious, authentic Pakistani food and were generous with samples. I look forward to coming back!

Yelp
Love this farmers market! We don't live in the area. In fact we are about an hour away and drive past many farmers markets to get here. But it's so worth it! There is a lot here! Veggies, artisan makers, food vendors, meat butchers, cheese, olives, sweet treats and more! I highly recommend something from the olive lady. I have tried a marinated cheese and plove blend and the stuffed olives and I ate the whole container myself each time! Also I got bacon the last time I was there is it was dramatically better than what you get in the store! They had some great looking steaks and burgers too. Plus it's located right in downtown Napa so the drive is worth it for use because we explore after.

Yelp
Early Girl tomatoes in October ? So flavorful and sweet. The baby cherry tomatoes are the bomb too. Fresh local meats and fish and roasted chicken are great for take to make at home. Michelin rated Paella, and amazing French crepes can be found here! Food stalls include dim sum, lots of tacos, chocolates, churros, cheese, baked home goods, hummus, green smoothies, fresh local coffee beans, ( award winning) sushi, gourmet popcorn, and Boba Teas. Local breads at "westwon" are local favs. as well as goods made by craftspeople who tan and sew leather goods, make jewelry, boil fragrant all natural soaps candles and essential oils! We are new fans of Golden State Pickle Works from Santa Rosa with the best Golden Goddess and Ranch dressing ever. Kimche is so crunchy and fresh. probiotics! Locals come back for their weekly orders and the owner remembers each human who supports her. Minutes to the Oxbow market, Wine Train and downtown Napa tasting rooms. Locals and visitors support local farms , their produce ,food innovations , and the goods the craftspeople here make with their hands. Support local! Support Human Hands every Tuesday and Saturday before noon.

Yelp
We happened to be able to walk the Farmers market on a Saturday morning. It's always nice to see towns with this kind of local activity which benefits the community and tourists like me. I liked browsing the local produce and sampling their fruits and snacks. We bought 3 bags of Maui chips from a vendor there and also some small sweet buns from a different one. It's worth a look to contrast between what we have in SD. Love Napa's variety of produce! Especially the various types of pears they had available

Yelp
We went to the Napa Farmer's Market for the first time today and it's the biggest and best farmer's market I've ever been to. First off, they had a D.R.E.A.M donuts booth and there was a long line. However, my friend decided not to buy them after he was told that he had to wait a second time after getting to the front of the lines for them to get the donuts ready. They had all kinds of special donuts like Blueberry Cheesecake donuts and Strawberry Fields donuts. There was a fresh flower stand where I purchased a beautiful bouquet of orange lilies and purple flowers for only 5 dollars! I'm going to give that one to my mom along with some red roses. We also got some fresh bright orange zuchinni and striped zuchinni plus some sweet organic strawberries. We will definitely return!

Yelp
Parking is plentiful but not the easiest to find. Definitely come early. If you love kettle corn I heard the last bag sells around 9 am. The variety is wide with goods ranging from fresh produce to pastries. There are also hand made bags, nuts, both cooked and raw meat, and hummus. I do wish there were more hot foods. Overall the Napa Farmers market has a good selection of goods.

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday during COVID and they were very good at following COVID protocols. They regulated the amount of people entering and created a 1-way traffic flow with only 1 entrance and multiple exits at the other side of the market. The food and coffee trucks were located outside of the market on the side. No eating or drinking is allowed inside, as well as no pets. Hand sanitizers were available and face masks were required at all times. The rows of vendors were also spaciously distanced to allow lots of walking space for customers. There was a good variety of stalls from produce, baked goods, cheese/nuts, to handcrafted items. I recommend checking out their website beforehand to see which vendors are available for the day you are going. The market opens 8 AM-12PM. I arrived at around 11 AM and many items at the stalls were selling out so I would also recommend arriving a little earlier. However, I was still able to enjoy some good items sold by the vendors. This was a great experience and would love to come back earlier in the morning next time to try vendors I didn't have the opportunity to try. Definitely a very local vibe.

Yelp
A DARLING LOCAL FARMERS MARKET. DARLING! - Only one entrance. - The attendant takes your temperature. And tells you the rules. They count each person who goes in. - You are not allowed to drink or eat inside. - If you are a big family, only one member of your family can go inside and shop. - Only 50 people at a time. - Try to shop/walk in only one direction, though the layout is not clear. - Only one exit, and they count you as you leave. Seems like a lot of locals go here. They all seem to know each other! Some stalls selling coffee, cooked food, baked goods. Some stalls selling meat, fish, etc. Lots of produce and juices. One stall selling CBD products: soaps, lotions! Another was selling masks and other crafts! Very cute, very darling!

Yelp
Absolutely one of best Farmers Markets I have ever been to. Such a huge variety of vendors. Amazing public restrooms. Great fresh breads from local bakeries. Fresh produce of all kinds. Fresh strawberries. Many fine mini restaurants serving gourmet meals. Best Eggplant Parmesan I have ever tasted. Incredible vegan brownies. Delicious frozen yogurts. Great lemonade. Too many fabulous items to list them all. I was super impressed with all that I saw here.

Yelp
Wish I lived in Napa. Loved how restaurants had fresh ingredients, so now they have fresh ingredients to take back to an Airbnb or VRBO home. Only wish we stayed beyond a Saturday. Will have to arrange that for our next annual visit. So many options, from fresh veggies, seafood, bakery items and more. I did purchase, after tasting some granola with matcha. It had a nutty flavor that I had to get three packages to share with friends back in the east coast. Line for donuts was long so allowed all the families with young kids to stay in that line. Definitely would go back to enjoy the fresh veggies and breads.

Yelp
FIRST TIME HERE. We liked the variety of food vendors. I like to try baked goods and foods from small makers, and this place had plenty. The produce section was nice too. BUT, I don't know what its going on with farmers market that the prices for produce are way more expensive then stores. Even the organic ones. In general, everything here was pretty pricey. We ordered dome donuts (They were good but very oily), some Brazilian truffles (they were just okay but $2.50 each!!!) and got some produce. I must say that this place has the fanciest restroom I have seen. It looks like an elevator and it talks! LOL!!!! This day they had people offering info about the Monarchs Butterflies and giving away plants. I would come back and try different vendors.

Yelp
So the Farmers' Market (c'mon Yelp, get the punctuation right on the name) has moved to new digs at the fairgrounds. I don't think the correct address is listed, but hopefully it is coming soon. It's pretty solid, overall. You have the usual suspects - the stands selling local meats and seafood, expensive produce, enough organics to please the Goop crowd, as well as artisan items, gluten free dog biscuits etc. You can count on The Hummus Guy (5 stars) being there, Toasted has a stall (pro tip, they're cheaper at Hudson's Greens in the Oxbow, but still delicious), there are pupusas that rule, and BBQ. Ohm Coffee is there, but there's a 2nd, much better coffee option a few stalls down. The new location doesn't seem to have as many vendors yet (we went the first weekend), but it sure does feel a lot more spacious. Downside (maybe) is that the stalls are on compacted dirt, so don't wear your new Jordans. Parking was ample, if a little confusing. Not much to say otherwise - it's a farmers' market - if you've been to one, you kind of know what to expect. But that said, it's a decent one with good vendors and well worth your time.

Yelp
Napa Farmers Market was a wonderful surprise on our trip through Napa. SCW, Awesome Sister in Law and Amazing Brother and I all went on a cool but pleasant Saturday morning. I always enjoy Farmers Markets whenever I can and this one is tops. The journey through the market for me is always exciting the first time, you never know what is behind the next stall. What goodies are awaiting discovery through the stroll? I found lots of amazing looking produce and we all enjoyed the organic raspberries and strawberries. We got a couple of pints of them and shared through our stroll. Neither fruit made it out of the market. They were so delicious we ate them all on the spot. I really enjoyed Roti Pakistani stall which the wonderful woman gave us several samples of amazing Roti and chutney. SCW and I ended up getting some Vegan Pakora, Vegan Roti and some jalapeno chutney. If you are mostly plant based like SCW and I you can find lots of Vegan options throughout the market. The vendors are diverse and informative such as the Nature Wildlife rehab stall which has information about what they do as well as cool facts about various animals. Looking for your next best furry friend? Their is an animal shelter here as well with Cats and Bunnies waiting for their furever homes. Napa Farmers Market is a wonderful experience with tons of variety, great people doing some amazing work with animals and some incredibly fresh produce. I am a fan.

Yelp
Our search to locate BBQ for lunch ended with a pleasant discovery, the Napa Farmers Market. Be on notice that no furry-four-legged family members are permitted. The market albeit is small in scale, it offers a great mixture of friendly vendors offering; produce, meat, baked-goods, arts, crafts, live music, seafood, and food trucks. We didn't find BBQ for lunch, but had a great dining experience nonetheless! I had authentic El Salvadoran food, Pupusa ( a thick freshly made to order stuffed flatbread cooked on a flattop grill.) They offer several filling options. My choice, chipotle chicken and cheese and topped with a cabbage slaw. In addition I ordered a blue corn tortilla chicken taco and Plantano's with condensed milk topping. I also ordered a strawberry Aqua Fresca. The food and service was top-notch! Thank you Napa Farmers Market.

Yelp
I had my first experience at this Farmers Market recently, and it was fabulous. I was shocked at how big it was, and how many vendors there were, and so much variety! There was, of course, lots of wonderful produce, as well as cheese, meats (both to cook or grill and for charcuterie), bread, and fresh flowers, but there were also so many other things to choose: bao, dumplings, lasagne, meatballs in sauce. There was also lots of food truck fare. I was specifically looking for anything I could freeze for an upcoming meal. I was not disappointed. The vendor all took cards (that I saw) so I guess my trip to the ATM was not necessary. There were volunteers everywhere, so you could ask questions or find something specific.

Yelp
Have you ever visit Napa Farmers Market? Or any farmers market? Today was an eye opener for me as I finally had some time to stop and experience a farmers market in my city for the first time. For as long as I can remember, I drive by it every morning on my way between two offices that I own here in town. I used to think that farmers market is all farm to table produces (tomatoes, carrots, lettuce....). I was dead wrong. They've got food trucks here from various vendors. They've got info booth from different agencies that are here to raise awareness to various causes, arts and crafts...the list goes on. Forget the supermarket from now on because I rather support local business as much as I can. I didn't have much time to visit every vendor but I will make it a point to give myself extra time and stop here more often moving forward. Anyone want to join me for some fresh morning air, a good conversation, and a mind stimulating experience, please come.

Yelp
Drove by and saw there was open. You can park on the street. There are bathrooms there. This is a pretty good size farmers market. They have a good selection to good produce. There was a few other things. It was a little pricey but good quality things.

Yelp
So glad to see Napa found a home off Pearl and Soscol for this market! Currently it's only offered on Saturday but come April it will go back to Tuesday and Saturday's!! So much to live at this market. I still bee li e to Chef Andres for his eggplant parm, veggie lasagna and his tepanades or pesto sauces. I love that he does not bread his eggplant! Delicious!! We love all the produce and fruits here as well!! Some great gift items too! They added a "bbq" open spit guy who roasts chickens and ribs and the spit rolls over the potatoes. So when you get those amazing potatoes on the bottom you get all that flavor! Wow. Also upper crust bakery is here and don't miss their breads! Loved their rye sourdough which is divine!! Also their cookies are great!!! Also nice to have Santa Rosa seafood here as well!! always a good stop for the smoasted salmon a no crab cakes always staples in our fridge!!! Just amazing market!!

Yelp
Small but VERY versatile! Gotta love Napa, flowers (that last 2 weeks), top quality bread, authentic French crêpe, handmade Italian pasta, probiotic drinks, farm raised beef, eggs, organic vegetables, fruit, mushrooms, cheese, coffee, granola, handmade leather goods and jewelry, pet adoption, chef demos from Napa's top chefs, etc. Has been my weekly getaway. So excited it's all year round now and goes til 1pm

Yelp
We've visited markets across the Bay Area and this is one of the best: not crowded, great prepared food options, cool crafts, and plenty of produce. The Mexican food truck and crepes were highlights. Parking was straightforward in the adjacent plaza when we arrived around 10AM on a Saturday. This is definitely a great spot to stop and get food on your way to wine tasting or enjoying a day outdoors in the Napa Valley.

So many great options! Great local products and friendly people! The roti place is amazing! Lavender honey is a must!

Yelp
The Napa Farmer's Market has endured a number of indignities recently- from the rain&wind, to being located next to a cineplex, the homeless shelter, a fitness center, and a hotel. They have many of the same vendors as when they were at the Oxbow, but their setting is a lot less rural; it's between two major intersections. They have a nicer, larger dining area. They had musicians playing relaxing acoustic New Agey music. At the same time, the parking&driving situation was chaotic. Most Napa Valley Farmers' Markets are at parks- from the Calistoga one beside the Sharpsteen Museum to the St. Helena one in Crane Park. This one has a less pleasant location. Pro-tip: Get there early. By 10 am, it's a traffic nightmare vying with space for In Shape, people checking into the Hampton, and folks trying to get to matinees.

Yelp
Wow wow wow, I just realized that despite thinking I've been to farmers markets before, compared to this, I haven't. And btw, this is in a severely limited capacity during COVID where they limit the number of people and the merchants and farmers are also limited. The fun of visiting here on a gorgeous sunny January early afternoon, stalls and stalls with every imaginable fruit and vegetable plus dozens other items,,e.g. dairy products and home made honey ... bursting with freshness and ripening at peak times, the colors and smells is hot damn all the way. I can only imagine what coming here would be like if there were no pandemic and frankly it's on my bucket list. Yeah I know--that says a lot about my life that I don't have grander visions, but it also gives you a sense of how beautiful this market is. It's also incredibly picturesque located along a river back and smack dab in town, so charming it's as if from a fairy tale. We are so lucky better, it's unbelievable. Not to mention i I loved the feeling of being able to support local farmers!
google avatar

Roger B.

Yelp
The Vendors while advertising Organically Grown Food Products, utilize environmentally damaging single use plastic produce bags, despite the availability of biodegradable choices. They will not change until it is mandated, as it is in SF & Berkeley Farmer's Markets. The only power I possess is to Not patronize these Vendors until they make a better Earth friendly choice. Hope it happens soon.

S J.

Yelp
NO pets allowed. And you have to go to FAQ on their website to even see that. It should be more prominent on their website.
google avatar

Yelp
Really nice farmers market with a terrific selection of fruits and veggies. Bera Ranch has the best apricots and peaches I've ever tasted and Big Ranch Farm always has delicious veggies. Lot's of crafters, several bakeries, and a small selection of food vendors. The standouts are the papusa stand and the sorbet cart. Don't miss either of them. Best I've ever tasted. Great crowd, lots of parking. Just wish it was open past 12:30p.m.
google avatar

Chera T.

Yelp
Not bad but not huge either. I had imagined it to be larger. I think the farmers markets need to refocus on actual produce. Who doesn't enjoy fried delicious treats and crafts but when there's only four actual produce stands in the whole market, something is off IMO. Overpriced produce at that.

Diane S.

Yelp
Napa Farmers Market is amazing. At this moment I am eating delicious fresh picked raspberries and aged goat cheese I bought this morning. Unfortunately I was too late to get an apple turnover from Monday Bakery so clearly I'm not the only one who loves them! (although my friends all stocked up on the scones, muffins and oat bars). The variety of food and vendors keeps it an enjoyable destination whether you are a local or here as a tourist. Along with the fruits and vegetables you can buy honey, cheese, hummus, fish, vinegars and oils, baked goods, samosas, gourmet sandwiches, tamales, pupusas, cornish pasties, kettlecorn, soaps and lotions, jewelry, leather goods, bags and more...you can relax and listen to music and did I mention that on Saturday mornings you can also get your knives sharpened.

Yelp
My experience probably would've been much better if the ladies working the event itself weren't so against dogs. I brought my dog on a walk and decided to drop by the farmer's market, thinking that it was a normal thing to do. Apparently not. They aren't dog-friendly so don't even bother bringing your dog unless you want to get yapped at by the "state-officials" (as she and another lady so-called themselves). I highly doubt it; both ladies were very unprofessional and the situation could've been handled in a much better way. She continuously scowled, "You need to be 20 feet away from food vendors, right now you're about 18 feet away, you need to move back". Well ok, why don't I just go grab my yard stick? Wait, Sorry lady, I don't have one so how was I supposed to know I was 2 feet too close? Other farmers' markets don't act like my dog is the Black Plague, so I'm going to bring my business elsewhere.
