Napizza is a Marina hot spot with satisfying pizzas - Review - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"When you want to devour puffy Neapolitan pies without too much of a scene, get to Napizza in the Marina. The eclectic-looking Italian restaurant (by the people behind Roma Antica) is calm, easy to get a table at, and serves wood-fired pizzas with stretchy crusts. The pies mostly lean traditional, with the exception of the “Americana,” which is dressed up with french fries and hot dogs, naturally. While the quirky combination may sound tempting, hone in on the red pies with the slightly sweet, light sauce—specifically the margherita, which is a prime example of simplicity done well. Going in on any of the housemade pastas is another nice way to fuel up before heading to Silver Cloud to bribe the DJ into letting you cut the line for your rendition of “Super Bass.” Food Rundown Margherita Sure, it’s basic, but this is a great pie. Napizza’s strong suit is their light tomato sauce and this version’s simplicity gives it a moment in the limelight. Salsiccia A bit more filling than the margherita, so if you want some sausage with your tomato sauce and crust, have at it. Fettuccine Alfredo Hear us out. This cream-bomb with housemade fettuccine is decadent, cheesy, and peppery, and makes a case for beige food to have a comeback in everyone’s adulthood." - Julia Chen

Google
We had an amazing evening here. Our waiter Sara was the cutest ever, she and everyone else were so attentive and heartwarming. The pizza was really good and the tiramisu an absolute must-have, such a perfect ending of the day. Will come back here over and over!

Google
Lovely experience at 'Napizza. There was no wait, our waitress checked in on us multiple times while we were there, and the food was delicious! The music playing in the background was also really nice. The only complaint we had was the bottom of our pizza got wet incredibly fast (I'm assuming because of the mushrooms?) Definitely still worth a visit though, we will be coming back soon!

Google
We’ve been to Napizza a few times and generally enjoyed the food — the pizza is consistently good and the pasta, while decent, isn’t anything special. Unfortunately, our most recent visit will likely be our last. From the moment we walked in, the hostess gave off a strange, judgmental vibe that made the experience uncomfortable. The overly performative Italian chatter felt more forced than authentic, and it just added to an already awkward atmosphere. We also felt extremely rushed.

Google
Sarah was our server. She has such great energy!! And the food was just phenomenal! I forgot to take a picture of the fettuccine Alfredo but it was the best I have ever had! (Get the chicken, it’s worth every penny of the $6)

Google
Napizza was the hit of our weekend trip to San Francisco. I'm really wishing it existed when I lived there! No question we'll be back next time we make it to the city. We went after seeing that a reviewer had the best chicken fettuccine alfredo they've ever had and from pictures of the pizza. We wanted to try both so we shared a pizza and the fettuccine. Both were fabulous! The Alfredo sauce has something extra special about it which indeed did make it the best we've ever had. The Neapolitan style pizza was extremely close to what you would find in the best pizza shops in Italy. This was the first time asking for a tiny bit of garlic to be added to a Neapolitan style pizza and it didn't come covered in it. Spot on! Great service too and it was a perfect day to sit outside. The blankets are a great touch. Only thing I would change would be to move the plant from behind the chair I was sitting in, it kept getting caught on my jacket.

Google
I visited this restaurant because my last name is “Na,” and the name “NAPIZAA” caught my attention while deciding where to eat with my family during our trip to SF. We ordered the Fettuccine Al Salmone, Salsiccia Pizza, and Truffle Waffle Fries. all of which were delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the service was excellent, making our experience even better. I’d love to come back for another meal the next time I visit SF!

Google
I had an incredible experience at this restaurant! The service was warm, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. The star of the evening was definitely the Pizza Margherita—perfectly blistered crust, rich San Marzano tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and fragrant basil. Every bite was a taste of Naples. You can tell they use high-quality, authentic ingredients and truly care about the craft. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious Italian dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
Pepperoni pizza: $23, 4.5 stars - oily but the crust was has really nice leopard spotting. I did like this pizza Salmon pasta: $24, 3 stars - Noodles tasted fresh however the sauce tasted quite fishy. I sat outside and the heaters didn't work too well. The restaurant was severely understaffed with only two servers on a busy Saturday for lunch

Yelp
Just ate here tonight. Very welcoming staff and environment (we sat inside). Arancini were fried nice and crispy. Meatballs were tender and tasty. Husband enjoyed the salad with oranges and citrus vinaigrette. Mortazza pizza was WONDERFUL. Pistachio and mortadella, yum yum yum. Ended our meal with the limoncello cake which was refreshing. Would definitely return!

Yelp
Napizza is a cute spot in a good neighborhood. We had a reservation, and it was clear that they weren't ready for us. They sent us a text to push us back 15 minutes, which was totally fine, but even then they squeezed the 5 of us into a 4 person booth. Not a big deal! The food was better than I expected after walking in, but I do think there is better pizza in SF. I did enjoy the pesto gnocchi! I will say, I was surprised that this spot isn't new based on how it was operated with the table and service. Everyone was so nice, but it was disorganized and we had to ask for things a few times. They also made a minor mistake on two of our dishes by switching cheese type on one of our pizzas and adding burrata to our pesto (this was a happy accident as it normally cost more to add ). We asked and they have been around for 3 years.

Yelp
Napizza is a small italian spot in the Marina that is nestled across quite a few other places. It's pretty cute on the inside but what was baffling was that compared to all of the other restaurants in the area, it was particularly empty and no one was eating inside. We asked the waitstaff for a table, to which they responded "do you have a reservation" which was peculiar since once again... completely empty. The food was honestly just fine, maybe I just don't love neapolitan style pizza which is floppy, but the ingredients tasted okay. The service was really great food wise so recommend that but other than that, it's an okay pizza spot.

Yelp
Napizza is a guilty pleasure! When I come to San Francisco we always get a pizza (or two) here. It's hard to stop eating it and we definitely over-eat every time we come since we want to try everything on the menu. Love their Caesar salad. And their Lasagna! And great Neapolitan style Pizza.. can't say I have a favorite here since all the flavors are great in their own way. If you can't decide just pick one with the toppings you generally like and it'll be a hit. There was one time that they made a pizza soggy but they offered to make another one to make up for it. They truly care about their customers and want to make sure you leave happy and I really appreciate that. Btw they have a wood fire oven! Must try if you're a pizza lover

Yelp
I came in with some friends for a birthday and the waiter was super attentive to our group! We ordered a rigatoni pasta, truffle fries, bruschetta, and a margherita pizza. All of it tasted amazing. We also tried their lemon based pizza, which wasn't a fan favorite, but still unique and definitely tasty.
google avatar

Suraj P.

Yelp
Didn't know about this spot but went for my dad and sister's birthday and it was a really great restaurant. The pesto in the gnocchi was fantastic! Pizza was also really delicious. Would definitely come back, it can get a little tight inside depending on how busy it is.

Yelp
I was recommended this place by an Italian coworker and it didn't disappoint! Went here with a friend and we ordered the pizza capriciosa which had ham, olives, artichokes, and egg -- my ideal type of pizza. Great smokey (yet pillowy) crust and melt in your mouth sauce. Also got the salmon fettucine which was super creamy and flavorful (though it was a lot better while hot than after 30 min). Service was pretty fast and the ambiance is so cute inside - it's really quite ideal for a date or friend outing. Love the plates and decorations too.
google avatar

Yelp
If you're craving Italian food but don't want to overspend and wait in a long line, this is a good option! The sauce and vegetables in the vegan pasta were delicious, but the pasta itself was a bit undercooked. The bruschetta was fine but lacking a little flavor like balsamic vinegar. The service was a bit slow, but the waiters were very nice. Food: 8/10, Drinks: 9/10, Service: 8/10, Ambiance: 7/10, Vegan-friendly: 7/10

Yelp
Came back to Napizza for another dinner this week. The staff were friendly and attentive, as always. Got the Caesar salad to split and they were kind enough to put it in two bowls for us to eat out of. For our mains we got pepperoni pizza and the truffle pasta. The pizza crust here is so good! And the pepperoni and cheese were fresh and tasty. The truffle pasta was also delicious. For dessert we got panna cotta and sea salt caramel gelato. I thought the panna cotta was especially good with a little lemon flavor. This is still one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants and I will definitely be returning again!

Yelp
Wow! This place has some seriously amazing pizza! We sat outside enjoying the pleasant cool evening and people watching as the area is busy. Our service was outstanding and and they made sure to check in on us to make sure we were enjoying our meal. We stopped by for some pizza and wine and got the tiramisu to go. Everything was really good! The pizza crust had such a unique and delicious flavor. The one we tried, tartufo & salciccia (truffle and sausage) was absolutely amazing. I thought the truffle may have been overwhelming but it was just the perfect amount of flavor combination that exceeded my expectations. I can't wait to go back and try more!

Yelp
Napizza came highly recommended by a couple we knew who lived in Napoli, so if we're going to trust anyone about Neapolitan style pizza, its them. On top of that, we just visited a few months ago and still can't stop thinking about all of the deliciousness over there but I digress. Napizza is the closest we've come and they really knocked it out of the park. They have that crust mastered! SO GOOD! The right amount of air, chewyness and crispness. They also have a good wine selection and great service that transports you back to Europe.
google avatar

Yelp
I love the pizza at Napizza. I drive an hour and a half, every couple of weeks, with my best friend to get pizza here. My favorite pizza is their Margherita. It has fresh basil, tomato sauce, fior di latte & evoo. It's so delicious. I also love their Cesare Salad which has organic romaine, croutons, parmigiano & garlic aioli with anchovies. They have seating outside and inside. The seating outside is covered so it's great no matter what the weather is. I have only had great service from the staff. Everyone is very nice.
google avatar

Adam M.

Yelp
Super good! My wife and I ordered the burrata and prosciutto and the Salsiccia pizza. Very good, especially the burrata and prosciutto. We usually don't get appetizers but we were tempted to get another order because it was so good! Pizza was very good as well and overall not too expensive which was appreciated. Service wad very fast and the restaurant has very nice indoor and outdoor (with heating) seating and great vibes. We'd come back!
google avatar

Melissa S.

Yelp
The guy who tooky order on the phone was so very nice. so excited for my pizza! Also gave my doggo a free meatball! He was so happy

Yelp
We just randomly came in for dinner here tonight with our 2 kids after attempting to go across the street to another spot that had a 2 hr wait. I'm so glad we did! Super good food, awesome service. Complementary bread w/ olive oil was delicious, I got a Cesar salad which was also very good. We got a pepperoni pizza and a buffalo chicken both of which were really yummy. I came in with low expectations and came out feeling like I'd def go back!
google avatar

Ron P.

Yelp
Came with a group of 7 and were seated promptly with a reservation. We ordered 2 Truffle Waffle Fries, Fettucine Alfredo, Fettucine al Samone, Pizza Bufalina, Pizza Margherita, and the Pizza Italiana. Everything was good and I especially enjoyed the Fettucines and the Pizza Bufalina!

Belin K.

Yelp
Roma didn't have indoor seating, so we came here since it's the sister restaurant and it was cold outside. We ordered the lamb pasta and prosciutto pizza with red sauce. The pizza was disgusting and inedible. We both only ate a slice and couldn't finish bc of how salty the sauce was. I don't know if they have quality control issues or if that's the sauce they have everyday, but it was so bad! We liked the pasta but it wasn't good enough to visit again. We were so baffled since roma is our favorite resto. But this is not the spot!

Yelp
There's a handful of good Italian restaurants in the Marina and this is one of them. Fried artichoke hearts: C+ Liked the flavor and the creamy orange sauce but these were WAY too salty. Fettuccine Alfredo: B Also very salty, but I really liked the texture of the noodles. You can tell they were made fresh. Lasagna: A This lasagna was delicious and unique compared to traditional lasagnas that I've had before. They have a pesto sauce on top that gives it that nice pine nut and basil flavor. It also was not overwhelming with the cheese. Prosciutto pizza: B+ Fantastic tasting prosciutto and mozzarella slices, pairs fantastically with the mushroom and truffle oil. Only complaint is the center of the pizza was too wet. But the dough is incredibly light and tasty. Biscotti: B- Decent way to end the meal. We wanted to try their limoncello mascapone cake but they ran out. The biscotti had a nice crumble and I enjoyed the chocolate sauce to go along with the almond flavor.

Yelp
Great pizza! Opens late, lots of pizza selections, indoor and outdoor seating, friendly service, and overall good vibes They also have vegan options! Got the pizza margarita with no cheese

Yelp
Cute Italian restaurant nestled in the Marina. The interior offers an intimate setting with attentive staff. They have a pizza oven so I expected the pizza to be delicious. We ordered the gnocchi, and the Tartufo & salsiccia pizza. The pizzas are made Neapolitan style and came out slightly burnt thin, crispy crust. Ours was topped with truffle fondue, potatoes and sausage. I wish they thinly sliced the potato's and definitely ask for chili oil on the side. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly and had a tangy tomato sauce. Overall solid date night spot for delicious Italian food! If you love my food reviews, you won't want to miss my hand picked selections on my San Francisco Food Guide: https://www.thatch.co/guide/2wvy4127jj86e/view?s=Ub4baw7kAgWP41IcYrZ6an3xEVp2&s_f=e&s_t=ios_share&s_b=n

Yelp
We walked by this restaurant after visiting the palace of fine arts and interior was so cute! We got seated right away around dinner time and service was really quick. What we ordered: The pappardelle tartufate pasta was my favorite dish! It was so savory with black truffle cream on top of mushrooms and sausage. There was a generous amount of mushrooms. Second was the bufalina pizza. The pizza was thin and crust was not too hard to eat and mozzarella flavor was not too strong, balanced out the tomato sauce. The sacchetti pasta's flavor was so unique, sweet and cheesy at the same time. The fresh pear and walnuts = perfect combo.

Yelp
===TL;DR=== - Truffle waffle fries - Mozzareila in Carrozza - Lasagna Bianca - Salsiccia Pizza - Capricciosa Pizza - Pesto pizza - Aperol Spritz ===TMI=== Trying out a pizza place! Surprise surprise. What drew me in was the Christmas decorations. Their interior looked really cute with the chandelier and logs, modern cozy vibe. Brownie points to the table lamps, it sets the mood. We ordered a bunch of pizzas to share and tried some of their sides. I'm usually not a lasagna fan but the one they have here was delicious. Also love their meatier pizzas. Thin crust and not dry, just how I like them (I even ate the crust & I usually don't). Truffle fries is a must! Tying it all together with a glass of aperol spritz, how refreshing. Pro tip: check in on yelp for free tiramisu. First off, the photos on yelp don't do it justice as the cup was bigger than I thought. Secondly, it was divine. Please do share as it's really sweet! If you like Italian pizza, they're a good recommendation!

Yelp
Napizza is a modern Italian restaurant in San Francisco's Marina district. A friend suggested we try it for their good Neapolitan pizza. Highly rated at 4.5 stars on Yelp. Service was just okay. Took a long time to order. Safety Pluses - Online menu, Delivery services available, online ordering, outdoor seating Food Review: Arugula Salad ($12) Arugula, pears, gorgonzola, walnuts, dried cranberry & citrus was a good sized and solid salad. Nice balance of ingredients. 8.5/10 Spaghetti alle Vongole ($26) Spaghettoni, Manila clams ,garlic, breadcrumbs in white wine sauce was made using gluten free - vegan penne tube pasta so it wasn't the best. Al dente and not a lot of clams. 6/10 Pizza Salsiccia ($24) Mozzarella, Italian sausage, wild mushroom, onions looked good with lots of sausage and ingredients. Charred crust and wet center. Good flavor. 8/10 Overall - Good Food - Good Decor - Very Good Service - Good Value - Good Would we come back - Maybe

Yelp
We got the mortadella pizza to share after a late night out and it did not disappoint! We devoured it in a matter of minutes and we were then ready for dessert. Upon checking the Yelp app we realized we'd be eligible for free tiramisu but unfortunately they told us they were out when we asked about the deal. We'll have to come back to try more later!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for a late dinner. I appreciate this place being open late since most places in this city close early. We ordered the fried mozzarella, salmon pasta , and these little bread balls with prosciutto and burrata, that I forgot the name of. My favorite was the appetizer. It was fried to perfection. Also liked the pasta it was a generous portion of salmon and rose sauce was very flavorful. Would def come back here. Service was quick and our waiter was very friendly.

Al M.

Yelp
This is very good food. Pizza is proper Neapolitan style. Fantastic dough cooked right. Pillowy soft with light char at the edge, just crisp enough in the middle, bit of leopard-spotting underneath. Yum. Caesar salad was very nice (big enough to share and they'll plate for 2 gladly). Special was a lamb pasta which was crazy good. Tender bits of lamb, rich gravy, handmade pasta. Some nonna was working all day in that kitchen. No dessert or drinks this visit. But we'll definitely be back to try more. The dining room is small and energetic. (I could have done without the techno music tho). Server was terrific and the manager came by also. Price was more than fair. They're doing better food for less money than many other restaurants in the area. Bravo Napizza. A terrific meal!

Dhia M.

Yelp
excellent service . vero italian pizza !! ( they have both indoors and outdoor seating ) .
google avatar

Maria-Elena T.

Yelp
We started with the fried artichoke and the fried mozzarella. Then we split the four cheese pizza and a Margherita pizza with arugula. The fried artichoke was awesome but a little too salty. Mozzarella delicious! Both pizzas were good. My friend swears by the mortadella pizza but indulged my two pizza choices to split. They were good and complimented each other.
google avatar

Miriam E.

Yelp
Great ambiance, fantastic service from the moment we got at the door and the pizza.... wow.... so sad I don't live in San Francisco!!!
google avatar

Jared D.

Yelp
This is my favorite pizza place in the city as of the moment. My favorite pizza from here is the margarita and it always comes out fast and delicious. I love when I get the pizza right when it's comes out of the oven and it too hot to handle really, but I think that is when it taste the best. Friendly staff and again I love this place. Nice and airy dough with beautiful tinge on the edges.
google avatar

Mari C.

Yelp
Really good pizza. Friendly service. Ambiance is nice.bthey have outdoor seating which is nice on weekends with warmer weather
google avatar

Sergio A.

Yelp
Food was incredible. Mock-tails were so pretty and good. Servers were friendly and helpful. My friends were in the area to watch a show in the Presidio area. Such a cure restaurant and the surrounding areas were also beautiful. Only about a 10 minute peaceful walk away from The Palace of Fine Arts. It's definitely worth the pleasant stro from The Palace of Fine Arts if you find a good parking near by.

Jake V.

Yelp
Slow service and a grossly undercooked pizza. So many options in the area, try somewhere else.
google avatar

Yih R.

Yelp
I am biased because I only ordered a cappuccino and a soup here. I think I need to come back here, order different things, and update my review. I really liked the coffee here, it was not too sweet, and the bitterness was right on point. However. I was not very impressed by the soup. The soup lacked the anticipated richness and diversity of flavors. All ingredients lost their own taste. Overall, not a memorable dining moment, and I'd hesitate to recommend it. But again, I will come back to order more things. The place itself is cool. It gives a sense of Europe-small tables, floral table cloth, and warm lights.
google avatar

Patrick C.

Yelp
went in for desserts and they were ok. Tiramisu in the cup was the best. But tasted mass produced. Just my food and service I'd give them a 3. But my friends pasta looked delicious so one more point.
google avatar

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
Excellent service. We ended up with 3 apps and they were all delicious. Highly recommend the pizza, pasta (gnocchi) and dessert! We took our tiramisu to go, it was heavenly!

Luke H.

Yelp
This place saved our evening. The marinara sauce on the Margherita Pizza was insane. 10/10. Thank you for seating us so late!
google avatar

Emily X.

Yelp
The pizza came out lukewarm. Otherwise, the pizza sauce and sausage were pretty good. The tiramisu was creamy, but a bit too sweet for my liking.
google avatar

Allison B.

Yelp
Amazing food, the pizza was great! However the staff aren't really friendly - they don't seem to care about their guests. But, again- great food!!
google avatar

Giz M.

Yelp
I did take pictures but every dish I ordered was very tasty ! The sauce on the pasta. The pizza, appetizer, everything's wonderful. Love it.

Yelp
Ordered the Margarita pizza. Delicious and fresh tasting. It was a pick-up, so boxing was good too. I wish they put vents in their boxes.

Yelp
Late night dinner in the marina chestnut and Scott , Napizza Nice little restaurant Seated outside service was good had a margarita, pizza and chicken fettuccine overall cool vibe decent place. It's a margarita pizza.

Yelp
We ended up in the Marina, and while everyone else was being a Santa, we were eating pizza. I had Napizza bookmarked for a while. So let's get to da pizza. We ordered the potato white pizza (Rosmarino). The potatoes were really yummy, and there were plenty of sprinkles of rosemary. The CRUST was super bubbly and chewy. Everyone knows I love a crust with excellent dough and chew to it. It was the thickest Neapolitan crust that I have experienced in years. The decor was really aesthetically pleasing and such a cute spot. And our waitress was very personable. The menu of pizzas includes both red and white ones. I want to return to try the baked garlic pizza app. They also kindly said they could make any non-veg pizza into a veg one. Overall, Napizza is a solid pizza!
google avatar

Denise C.

Yelp
Really fun to eat more pizza in San Francisco Pizza towns are best like Italy Dad u gave me the best time Calzone today sausage cheese spinach Huge and tasty Marina restaurant
google avatar

Alexander C.

Yelp
The food I got here was mediocre and amateurish. I got the polpette, pizza rosmarino (potato pizza), and four cheese pizza. The polpette were dense and unappetizing. The pizza rosmarino is advertised as having beautiful thinly sliced potatoes coated in garlic and rosemary, but the potatoes I got were chunky, diner style, tasteless and undercooked. The pizza overall was very bland. The four cheese was overpowered with smoked provola and the rest was just tasteless. At the end of the meal I had that feeling of regret where I just wished I hadn't wasted all the calories (and money!) on that food.
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
My friends and I were able to get a table without reservations on a friday! We didn't wait long either so we got lucky cause the place was packed. The food was very good, we shared a couple pizzas which was honestly enough for the four of us. The dough was really nice and doughy. The ingredients tasted fresh and service was attentive and friendly! This was also the first time where each staff we interacted with spoke Italian! That was pretty neat because it felt like being in Italy or should I say Eataly. If you like neopolitan pizza, this place is good!

Valeria D.

Yelp
Ordered pick up. So tasty!! Highly recommend. The service is very kind. The restaurant is surrounded with moody lighting.
google avatar

Hutch C.

Yelp
This place lived up to its billing! Great salads and pizzas (we had a big group so we tried most of them!), but my favorite was the salsiccia. Not sure if it was the owner (or the manager) but he was super friendly and gave me some tips on how to improve my pizza making at home (even offered to let me take home some dough). Fun atmosphere and good wines as well!
google avatar

April L.

Yelp
Have been here several times and never leave disappointed. You can easily make reservations, I've also been able to walk-in. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. My favorites are the Prosciutto Bianca ($21). I am a sucker for prosciutto pizza and this one has the perfect balance of truffle flavor, with lots of mushrooms and prosciutto goodness. Crust was also perfect. I also really enjoy the Lasagna Bianca ($20)- probably my favorite dish here. So unassuming, but so delicious. Not too heavy, but so comforting. I get it every time. I also enjoy the Pizza Ail Aglio ($11) to share, as it has the perfect amount of garlic and isn't over or undercooked. The Tiramisu is also quite delicious and decadent. Overall, the service and both are both absolutely amazing, so if you're a fan of Roma Antica- I highly highly recommend coming here.
