As someone who is Turkish, I was pleasantly surprised with the authenticity and the quality of the food here! I and my date had Dolma, Manti, Cig kofte, Beyti kebab, Mushroom Karniyarik, and finally the Kunefe all of which were excellent. The flavors were really good, quality of the ingredients brought the taste of Turkey. The staff were very kind, hospitable. Atmosphere is romantic and great for a date.

I came here on a Saturday night with a date. It was awesome. We were seated at 9 PM, most of the tables were full. The food came out in a perfect time, allowing us to talk between courses. The service was excellent. The food was incredible appetizers through dessert. I will definitely come back to Nar for the delicious / authentic top level Turkish food.

The service was excellent as soon as we walked in. The food was absolutely delicious — honestly, I believe this is the best Middle Eastern restaurant in New York. The prices are very reasonable, especially considering the high quality (and compared to how expensive New York usually is). Shoutout to the chef for the amazing flavors and to our server, who was super attentive and made the experience even better. Highly recommended!

I recently visited Nar Restaurant in NYC for brunch and had an incredible experience. As a Turkish individual, the moment I entered, I felt a wave of nostalgia wash over me.It truly felt like home, reminiscent of my mom's kitchen. I indulged in the Turkish breakfast, which was absolutely fantastic. The flavors were authentic, and every dish was prepared with care. Our server, Ethan, was exceptional, attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. A wonderful surprise came when the chef sent us a complimentary basket of fresh baked goods, which added a delightful touch to our meal. We never felt rushed, allowing us to savor our time there over the course of three hours. Overall, Nar Restaurant offers a genuine taste of Turkey, and I can't recommend it enough. Whether you're Turkish or just looking to try something new, this place will surely impress!

Google
Great atmosphere, great service!! I went on a date here. However, not necessarily wow’ed. About the food: The MANTI was amazing!! I liked the appetizers more than the main. I genuinely believe the Nar kebab portion was too small for what you pay. Like it’s usual to receive two kabobs for about 25/30, and this was much more expensive? Despite of this I want to share that it was tasty. Please don’t lose touch with authenticity of the Turkish cuisine. All in all it was a good experience, and a romantic interior for a date, (good lighting). I simply will summarize it as “I won’t be back craving the food” rating 7/8 out of 10

Went to this flatiron restaurant my Turkish friend has been raving about on a Wednesday night to catch up. Place has a modern feel and seats were comfortable. Started off their on the house sesame bread and olive oil which i couldn't stop at just one. For appetizers, we ordered: - Manti (highly recommended these delicious mini dumplings) - Cig Kofte Roll (had a kick to it - a cold sushi like roll dish) - Zucchini blossoms (fried and stuffed zucchini flowers) The mains were the standout for me in my overall experience with: - Turkish Delight (moist, ribeye steak kebab and packed with flavors) - Lamb shank (tender lamb shank surrounded by a smokey eggplant purée) Desserts were just okay: - Baklava was a bit dry - Kunefe could have been warmer on the inside to give the oozy cheese effect. Spent $80 so was on the pricier side but service was attentive with consistent water refills, definitely had some great dishes, and nice modern vibe. Would like to come back to try their other menu items! IG: Jubes111 YouTube: Jujubi Fam

Had the Turkish breakfast (minimum for two people), which was excellent and probably one of the most authentic Turkish breakfasts one could find in the city (the other one we love is in Brooklyn). Could tell they use quality ingredients from how juicy and sweet the tomatoes were. The olives were great too. Definitely heavy on the cheese (lots of varieties for those who like cheese) and dairy so would not be an option for vegans. They also refilled the Turkish tea which was exactly what it was like in Turkey. Loved the simit that came as one of the bread options; while common in Turkey, somehow many Turkish restaurants/cafes don't offer simits for breakfast. One of the servers was super hospitable and friendly, reminded us of our trip to Turkey, but too bad it was her last day! Definitely coming back for dinner.

Went for my friend's birthday last night . This is a really pretty restaurant with blue seating and a hip jazzy soundtrack. We started off with a couple cocktails, the Nature's UFO which is a serious bourbon drink. And the Forbidden Ember mezcal and pineapple drink which was spicy but good . For appetizers we got the Grilled Octopus which was tasty with a tangy sauce too but my friend thought the portion was on the small side . But I loved my app . I had the Cherry Vine Leaf Dolma which is rice and pine nuts and currants wrapped up in vine leaves with a cherry sauce and yogurt . A nice chew to it and really unusual flavor. Get that if you want to sample a Turkish dish .They also bring you some crispy and complimentary bread with olive oil that we ate all of , twice ! For mains I got the Branzino with burnt rice . The rice had a great flavor and so did the fish but keep in mind this is a whole fish and there are some little bones. So be careful. My friend had the Mediterranean Chicken and grilled vegetables. He described it as a lively flavor because it was coated in spices a bit like Jerk chicken is . And it was juicy .For dessert we had Baklava which was a pie like slice with an unusual ice cream that may have had mastic in it .A good ending though i wish their dessert menu was bigger. Staff were very nice .This is a chill spot for a date or special occasions. Recommended.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious!! We were in town for only a short trip and went to NAR twice - which says a lot as NYC is not short of spectacular restaurants. We LOVED everything we ordered: Day one (lunch): - Nar Icli Kofte (A must-try!!!) - Manti (My fav - ideal amount of filling & flavor) - Sultan's Bliss (boneless shank cooked to perfection) Day two (lunch): - Babagannoush - Stuffed wine leaves (my fav of day two) - Sausage & Halloumi cheese (didn't think I'd like this as much as I did, must-try!!) - Nar Kebab (lunch version) Service was great, very attentive but allowed us to dine slow and at our leisure. Definitely recommend!!

Yelp
Great addition to "nicer" Turkish restaurants around NYC --for date nights. The atmosphere, food, and staff were all wonderful. Even though we had reservations, the place was not overly packed on a Friday night, which I appreciate. There is also seating available at the bar. We got two delicious cocktails and manti (delicious), stuffed wine leaves with cherry sauce (delicious), icli kofte (delicious), and lokum kebab (which were good too, but nothing crazy). I would definitely go back and recommend this place to friends.

Yelp
Been here for a team event on my short trip to Newyork, oh boy! This place gets crowded, we had a set menu and the service was super efficient despite of being very crowded I got the stuffed zucchini flower and vegetarian risotto, zucchini was amazing and very unique, I haven't tried out before and it was very pretty, risotto was okay for me could have used some more seasoning., the baklava was amazing!! Overall a good experience

Yelp
I came to Nar with my partner and his mom for dinner on a Friday night. Neither of us had ever been here before but I was drawn by the positive reviews online as well as their fantastic NYC Restaurant Week menu so I knew I had to come check it out. The restaurant has a very nice, cozy, and intimate feel to it while having lively energy. It was full of people throughout the night so the volume levels got a tiny bit high towards the end but it was perfect for a Friday evening. Service was exceptional. Our waitresses was incredibly kind and very attentive of our table throughout our meal. I also appreciated how we did not feel rushed out of the restaurant and we were just having a good time. We ordered a bottle of this Turkish Chardonnay which was very refreshing and not too sweet. We all opted to do the restaurant week menu since it was $45 per person for a three course dinner! For food I tried: - Squash Blossoms: delicious appetizer! Two warm fried squash blossoms that had a crispy shell and a delicious filling of cheese and squash. They came over a bed of this delectable cumin aioli that complimented the sweetness of the squash very well. Would highly recommend! Good portion size! - Grilled Branzino: for my main I ordered the grilled branzino which was perfectly flaky, tender, and well seasoned. It came with a nice mix of peas and potatoes underneath which were delicious as well as a pea purée that was to die for. I don't even like peas but the combination of the branzino with the pea puree was divine. - Flourless chocolate cake: I ordered this for my dessert since I'm always weak for chocolate cake, specially for a flourless one. This one had a yogurt base so it maintained a rich chocolate flavor with a decadent and moist inside. Not too sweet which I really enjoyed. It came topped with a sour cherry sauce which added a nice tart hint to it. Super good! - Baklava: my partner and his mom both ordered this and I tried a little bit of it. The baklava was delicious! The phyllo was perfectly crispy and the filling had the right amount of sweetness and nuttiness. LOVED the Turkish ice cream on top. It added a nice refreshing and creamy balance without being too sweet. - Quail: my partner ordered this so I included a photo of it because the presentation was beautiful! I tried a bite and it was also delicious. Thick whole pieces of quail that were super tender and juicy were wrapped in this grape leaf that gave it a little bit of a tart balance and over a bed of farro with some nice spices like cinnamon. Super rich and good! Also very good portion size. - Filet Mignon Kebab: my partner's mom ordered this and I also got to try a piece! Flavorful, delicious, high quality beef that just smelled delicious. Really big portion as well. Overall I had a very positive experience here! The quality of the food was top notch and the restaurant week menu was actually a steal (as opposed to other places where it just does not seem worth it). The portion sizes were big. The service and ambiance were also incredibly pleasant. I took a peak at their regular menu and it looks very delicious too so I'm definitely planning to come back in the near future. Would highly recommend this spot!

Yelp
Was craving something new and stumbled by this Turkish restaurant! We had the meze sampler, grilled octopus, Nar Kebab, Grilled Monkfish, and Kazandibi (burned chicken breast pudding but it's not chicken at all haha) All of it hit the spot really well. The service was attentive too and the decor decent modern which was fine. Would recommend to others if you're in the area.

Yelp
Amazing!! Food was phenomenal. We ordered a TON so I'll take you through my favorites. For the apps, the grilled octopus was ridiculously tasty. For the mains, the filet mignon was cooked PERFECTLY and so flavorful. The branzino was plated so beautifully as well and was light but tasty. The mushroom dish was really unique & tasty as well. Would recommend for veggie folks. The baklava + turkish ice cream floored us... SO GOOD. Its a MASSIVE baklava slice with this amazinggg turkish ice cream. I'll absolutely be back. The attentive & kind service with a beautiful ambiance takes this place to a 5/5 for sure.

Yelp
The service was excellent, the staff very attentive and the food authentic. I have sensitivities to chemical dyes and fragrance and had no concern- generally this means the ingredients are of high quality - the shrimp was toothsome and pasta was handmade. Not sure why they have a B from NYC health but we have a lovely time and everything was clean even the restrooms!

Yelp
I was lucky to attend an event here, with 5-course Ottoman Opulence Tasting. They opened in August of 2023, and already made Eater's, Infatuation's, AND the New York Post's Lists of the "Best New Restaurant Openings of 2023." We cocktails to start off this event, Purple Velvet and Raki Mule. Purple Velvet was sweet and fruity, with beautiful color. It was really tasty! Raki Mule was minty and refreshing, with that notes of spice from anise, interesting drink. The candied ginger on top was a nice touch. The first course was Mezze Trio with baba ganoush, hummus, pistachio, and Turkish nuts & spices. We also received some warm pita breads, They were all fresh and flavorful, I really enjoy that as well. The second course was Beetroot Carpaccio. It had a nice sweetness to it, and velvety. The third course was Pan Seared Scallops with Turkish Pastirma. Scallops were super plump and seared just right. The pastirma had a good amount of salty flavor which went great with scallops that needed the extra oomph. The fourth course was Grilled Lamb Rack. They looked impressive, and had great flavor, and hazelnut coating was really tasty. I felt that the mean was ever-so-slightly overcooked. Other than that, it was a beautiful dish. Very filling and satisfying. The last course was the dessert. Roasted Pumpkin & Kaymak Mousse. This was an interesting dessert. It was almost like a mix of sweet and savory dessert, if such thing exist. One of my pumpkin slices was thicker and larger, and not cooked all the way. I did like the second, softer piece. It was elegantly sweet, and tahini went great with pumpkin. We sure had an amazing Event here at NAR. They care a lot about the ingredients, with its quality and where they source them from. And you can taste the quality with every bite. Service was great, friendly and polite. If you want to try some modern Turkish dishes, head over to NAR!

Yelp
Came here during weekday lunch. Pretty quiet as it's close to the Xmas weekend. Cozy and warm feeling. Kofte Kebab $24 - my favorite dish among what we ordered. The Kofte is seasoned very well. The spice was very tasty and something I'm not familiar with so it was interesting. Rice was seasoned very well as well. Babagannoush $13 - second fav, typical goto. Done well, great flavor not bland not overpowering. Manti $26 - a bit underwhelming. Served lukewarm. Dough was thick with little filling inside, so the proportion is that dough is more than filling, I almost couldn't detect there's filling. Yogurt does not taste "smoked". Nar Icli Kofte $18 - thought the top layer would be a crust but it's like a dense cornbread texture (?), also serves lukewarm, yogurt helped. It was an okay dish. Not a cuisine I tried often so it was interesting, portion is quite small for the pricing. We were the only group during the lunch time. I believe not many customer is familiar with all the food terms in Turkish and our waiter seems not interested to explain the menu to us though I looked clueless. He was only interested to get us order wine and then another glass of wine.

Yelp
I was here for a private event. The space is bright and well designed. We had a 5 course tasting menu and everything was fantastic. The dishes were creative and beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. The staff was helpful and friendly esp considering they were serving a full resturant and prepping for a second city right after The menu consisted of. Modern Turkish and actually lives up to the hype. Mezze Trio - baba ganoush, hummus, pistachio, turkish nuts & spices Beetroot Carpaccio - mixed greens, chef's choice vinaigrette Pan Seared Scallops- turkish pastirma, turkish spices Grilled Lamb Rack - hazelnut parsley duqqa, mashed potato Roasted Pumpkin & Kaymak Mousse - tahini, roasted walnut, sugarl

Yelp
Enjoyed our dinner at Nar. Went in without reservation and they sat us immediately. Beef kabob is juicy and melts in your mouth. Complimentary bread and olive oil. We asked for a second round of bread with our main course. Ordered an appetizer( beef kabob) arugula salad, sultan's bliss( lamb shank over smoked egg plants) filet mignon kabob and a side of ottoman rice, and Ended the meal with a large piece of baklava and Turkish coffee. I wasn't the biggest fan of the rice but overall a great experience.

Yelp
The restaurant is overpriced. Be sure to carefully read the menu, as you might be surprised when the bill arrives. This will be my first and last time at this restaurant. There are plenty of great Turkish restaurants where you won't feel like you're being ripped off.

Yelp
Beautiful, classy atmosphere with soft music in the background, dim lights and nice table settings! Just had a cocktail which was divine!

Yelp
We were craving a home style breakfast and this brunch really hit the spot. We ordered a lavender mojito, barefoot walk (strawberry lemonade), Turkish brunch for 2, eggs Benedict and Turkish toast (French toast with apricots). Deliciously fresh authentic Turkish breakfast. I definitely recommend this place and will definitely come back for dinner!

David R.

Yelp
Nar is a well appointed Turkish restaurant with polite and quick service. All our starters and mains were delicious and the desserts were amazing. There were 5 of us and the kebabs, fish, the Turkish specialities were all great! We will be back!

Yelp
I had high hopes for this new spot to be a local neighborhood go to! The overall experience fell below expectations, however. My table sat down for at least 15 minutes and while the restaurant was not busy, with several table open, nobody came by to check or even offer us water. I had to personally stop a server to ask for water and service. Placing our order was a bit confusing due to language barrier, which is ok, but at one point we decided to not ask for anything special other than what is on the menu. Just to keep in mind if you need special accommodations. We ordered a few apps and mains, which were tasty, but in NYC when there are so many competitive Mediterranean places, I would not run to come back and dine here.

Yelp
Great food, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere. From the appetizers, to the main courses, to the desserts... everything was delicious. Highly recommended!

Yelp
The space is absolutely beautiful inside. Food: The semolina beef yogurt appetizer dish is so unique and something I highly recommend getting. Definitely go for lunch because the express lunch is such a good deal. The yogurt soup is very good and flavorful and not something I have seen on other Greek menus in New York. The salad was also super flavorful. It was savory from the veggies but had a sweet and tanginess from the dressing. Service: What really set this place apart for me was the service. I was checked on multiple times to make sure all my food was okay and I noticed the same attentiveness to the other tables. Our waitress was so incredibly sweet and seemed genuinely happy when I would reply that the food was good - like she genuinely wanted me to be enjoying it.

Rebecca F.

Yelp
This was a 5/5 experience for sure. The ambiance was great, the waitstaff was very attentive, and our food came out quickly. Speaking of the food... It was INCREDIBLE. we did the restaurant week deal and got 6 different dishes between the appys and entrees. everything was worth ordering again. my two personal favorites were the shakshuka and the bronzino. but honestly you can't go wrong with anything. we will be coming back!

Yelp
We were in the area and saw this was well reviewed so gave it a go. Sat outside for late brunch as we had our dogs in tow. All the food was really good. Not too heavy but very tasty. The service was the highlight- really friendly staff across the board. From the owner to the servers, everyone just seemed genuinely nice. Must be a Turkish thing. While we don't live in this part of the city if we're back in the area will stop by for dinner. Very much recommend!

Yelp
This 8 month old restaurant not only serves delicious fusion of Turkish culinary but an extraordinary well trained restaurant service - one of the best I experienced in NY. The atmosphere is over the top! Very well priced and a fresh new take to ethnic fusion culinary New York style.

Balim S.

Yelp
This is by far the best Turkish restaurant I've been to in the states and truthfully one of the best overall restaurants in general! From the food to the ambiance the experience is unparalleled. Their dishes are flawless!!! Everything was perfectly seasoned, cooked and finished! All their servers and hosts are also super friendly and very welcoming! They are also all Turkish it seems which makes the experience not only more authentic but also very helpful to parties who are not familiar with Turkish food!

Diana M.

Yelp
I can not recommend this place enough. I went for the restaurant week menu and to try a more interesting cuisine, and it blew me away! My date and I had the lamb kebabs, chicken alla turca, manti, and the chocolate yogurt cake. All of it blew us away - not only the quality but the attentive and genuine service. The servers are truly experts in the cuisine and culture. The restaurant itself is a hole in the wall and so elegant yet cozy.

Neslin K.

Yelp
tasty food, nice ambiance! I wish portions were slightly bigger. I think Manti should be on the main course it was yummy

Yelp
Delicious food and great service! Ambiance is very nice & calming! Our family favorite!

Yelp
We had dinner at Nar last night. Beautiful, elegant space. Excellent food. Attentive service. Best cocktail and mocktail we have had in a while. So happy to have them in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Enjoyed ourselves- very cute restaurant, attentive happy staff, good food. My husband is high maintenance and loved it.

Yelp
Growing up Turkish American and having lived in Istanbul for 10 years I am no stranger to Turkish cuisine. Let me tell you, I have never had food like this before! The concept of "modern Turkish food" is not simple and wow!!! Their execution was perfect! My family and I swooned over all the dishes. Our favorites were the filet mignon kebab with roasted red onion on a purée of red lentils, wild sea bass with a potato and sucuk hash, the dried eggplant dolma and the made in house baklava my 4 year old loved the grilled octopus which reminded me of dining al fresco in the summer nights down by the Aegean coast. That said, they really marry the various foods of Turkey's different regions to an elevated pallet in a refreshing and unexpected way. This wasn't home style food, fast food, or rustic at all- unlike many other Turkish restaurants in the city! This was an elegant, whimsical and delicious meal. Service, atmosphere and decor were also lovely. I can't wait to go back!
