This coffee shop is a hidden gem located in downtown Everett. We were pleasantly surprised to see the crowd it attracts in an otherwise quiet neighbourhood. We loved how good their coffee was and also enjoyed a quick bite of their coffee cake. We will be back here to try their food options next time.

Google
Hands down, the best spot to get coffee in Everett. There are such warm vibes the moment you walk into the cafe. The lounge-y couches paired with regular seating makes it a wonderful spot to meet and socialize or get some work done. The coffee, especially the seasonal drinks, are unique and complex. The food (fresh baked biscuits and biscuit sandwiches) are a must! Everything is made with love, so expect some wait & arrive early or at an odd hour to ensure you can snag a seat!

Narrative Coffee in Everett is a standout among the many coffee houses in the area. I I was pleasantly surprised by the quality here. I tried their seasonal Salted Bourbon Butterscotch, and the very first sip told that it was crafted so well. The service was quick, my order was ready in just a few minutes, and the staff were friendly. The café’s brick-and-mortar interiors paired with skylight windows add to the aesthetics. Highly recommend this place.

Google
The atmosphere and service are what make this place great! I know this is an unpopular opinion, but… Honestly, the food I had was not great. I had the biscuit breakfast sandwich with bacon and I’m so glad I got the bacon on it. The whole thing lacked salt and pepper. It needs some kind of sauce or … flavor. I’m glad I got the bacon because that was the only essence of flavor I tasted. Somehow the rest tasted like old fry oil? Who knows! But the cookie is one I feel like I could get at Costco. The iced coffee was bitter even with a bit of cream. The brownie was good though! Sweet and not too dry. It was a just fine brownie!

Google
I only got coffee here, but it was quite tasty! I ordered an iced mocha and they let me know it was made with bitter chocolate beforehand. This is great for me, but I really appreciated them letting me know. I also love that it was made with bitter chocolate! They have a few little cafe tables outside, which was great for the sunny day, but the inside is a cozy, contemporary type of vibe. Will definitely be back for more coffee soon!

Google
The biscuits and gravy were different and delicious. The espresso was also great. Cute little place to check out. They start serving breakfast at 8am on the day we went.

Google
Fantastic coffee shop with a few different premium bean options and a great selection of food in a well light and vibrant shop. Breakfast is until 11a and lunch is 1p. The breakfast burrito sells out quick

If you like pour over, it is a must!! I stopped by on my way to Canada, and definitely a worth visit!! They also carry Manhattan Roasters (European)

Yelp
First time trying this place out with a friend and it was amazing! The biscuit sandwich was made to perfection and I was relishing every bite. The coffee was also good and flavorful. I tried a vanilla latte and my friend got the Americano. The staff was friendly and lots of seating inside. Lots of street parking in the area along with a paid parking lot available adjacent to the coffee shop.

Yelp
The service and staff are great and friendly/welcoming. Everything is a bit overpriced but that isn't the reason for a low rating. I ordered a breakfast burrito, had to pay an additional $8 for bacon and avocado, as it doesn't come with meat. The potatoes inside were essentially raw and crunchy which was terrible. Coffee was fine.

Yelp
I got a 8oz Latte and Buttermilk Biscuit Sandwich with a gluten free biscuit. I absolutely LOVE that they have gluten free options but $3 extra just for a GF biscuit is insane to me. The food was good and it was the best GF biscuit I've had, I just can't justify the price. The code was good, not amazing but I drank it all. The service was great! The cashier/barista was very friendly and offered recommendations. After tip my total was $23 I really like interior and vibes of the place. I wouldn't not come again due to the price but it was delicious so if ur a bug biscuit fan I would definitely try it out!

Yelp
Love love love this place! The ambiance, the service, and food, and the coffee are excellent. We arrived when they opened so it wasn't very busy but by the time we left it was a very lively scene. We ordered the biscuit breakfast sandwich, a side of eggs and gravy, brewed batch coffee, lemon bun, and a honey almond darling. My gosh, all of it was phenomenal. The breakfast sandwich was large and filled with lots of yummy goodness. I love when a breakfast sandwich is filled with lots of green. It had avocado and lots of arugula. Good stuff. The mushroom gravy was very earthy and unique with a nice consistency. The star of the show was the honey almond darling! It's basically a honey almond danish with lots of almond filling. It was perfect and oh so delicious. I love their mugs and the black coffee I had was nice and strong. I'll be back again narrative coffee!!!

Jennica C.

Yelp
Very delicious breakfast. Ordered the breakfast biscuit sandwich, my husband ordered the Benny biscuit. Along with two coffees. The service was superior and the ambiance is nice and calm. Does get crowded so recommend going on an off time to get a table.

Ivan K.

Yelp
While mocha looked amazing and frothed perfectly it was sour - like extremely sour. We've tried twice on different days and it tasted sour. Couldn't feel the chocolate because of that sourness. Because the house made biscuits with jam are always on top I can't give them less than 4 stars but we won't be back for coffee.

Rebecca H.

Yelp
Narrative is a go to coffee spot in downtown everett. I love the ambiance. It is spacious and the tables are nice and clean. I think the chai is a little too light/heavy on the star anise for my taste, but I like the coffee. It is a little price imo, but the people are always nice and it's always a nice place to catch up with friends.

Kaden T.

Yelp
I've been going to the Narrative location out in bellingham on and off when visiting friends for a few years. I lived in Olympia and went to Olympia Roasting company every Saturday morning for the good brew, food and vibes. So stoked to find this out in Everett after moving back to the snohomish county. It has been so difficult to find a coffee company like this out here, 5 stones does a great job. But the single origin, rarity roasts that Olympia and Narrative offer are to die for. The service here is impeccable, from ordering at the coffee bar, to the chef all the way to the back of house. Expect to pay for all the amazing service, drink and food. Worth every penny. Thank you Narrative for setting up shop.

Yelp
Sweet spot with good breakfast, fun coffee drinks, and a nice tea selection. Things are made fresh and do run out! Was lucky to get the last mushroom biscuits & gravy of the day, so good. Inside vibe is nice and airy. Order at the counter, get a number for food and they bring it. Call names at counter for drinks.

Kim K.

Yelp
Wandering around during jury duty to find where a good place for lunch was and stumbled upon this spot. It was quite busy at lunch but there was still lots of seating options. I got an almond milk chai, side salad, and the biscuit. It was all delicious!

Dazzle R.

Yelp
Can I live here?! The space is so welcoming and earthy, comforted, the sounds of espresso machines and smells of warm coffee and spices. The high ceilings and skylights create an ambiance of boho meets old-world charm. The surrounding raw brick makes you think of the history they would tell if the walls could talk. They offer a simple coffee menu, I opted for their Chai tea latte that although the spices were light, the flavor was refreshingly unique and tasted 'real'. No concentrate here! The avocado toast on sourdough was absolutely divine. The arugula, radish, and pickled red onion really made all the difference in elevating this dish! The Breakfast Biscuit egg was cooked to perfection, and the aioli added a kick making it so savory. Prices are a tad on the high end, but so worth every penny for the quality ingredients and complex flavors delivered here.

Sarah S.

Yelp
We came in on Sunday about noon and it was packed! We admired their decor and their cafe before ordering two lattes and a pinwheel. They are definitely on the pricier side ($7 a latte!) but we enjoyed the ambiance. It was a good latte and a good pinwheel, we just wish their menu had more of a price range.

Heather M.

Yelp
Most favorite thing about this spot was the atmosphere and hip vibes. Decoration and open space was great. Service was polite and knowledgeable. Just wasn't a fan of the coffee whatsoever. Paid $23.50 for 3 drinks (6 oz, 8 oz, & 16 oz). Not something that stood out to me whatsoever for how much it cost.

Chanel T.

Yelp
Adorable, random and tasty coffee house in Everett, I ordered the bourbon butterscotch latte. It was delicious but also $8.50 eek! Definitely a splurge coffee and wanted to fry it because that is what they were popular for. The avocado toast was perfect! Those pickles onions Loved the thick bread from Couix bakery. This was $20 after I added an egg. Not pictured but a buttery croissant my son seemed to enjoy it and gobbled up. Overall, this place is a quaint little coffee shop and would be perfect for an afternoon date with a special someone. My only suggestion for not making 5 stars was the cost. One coffee, avocado toast and croissant was $40 after tip. Yikes! That is a huge amount for what you get. The price tag was steep but no complaints about service, food and coffee. Next time, I'll try their pour over and skip food.

Michael T.

Yelp
Very snooty (Rude) and way too expensive! The coffee was tasted burnt and was lukewarm. They definitely need to work on some things here maybe someday I'll try it again.

Joy J.

Yelp
Great experience! You could taste the layers in the coffee. My biscuit and mushroom gravy was something I've never had and days later craved it again! Can get a little loud inside but overall a nice seating area

Ramya A.

Yelp
Very nice ambiance and service. The biscuit is delicious but the fish could have used more sauce.

Steven E.

Yelp
Food Was good, Chai was delicious. Great customer service. Vary chill Ambiance and general a good vibe for coffee, Brunch or studying

Susan R.

Yelp
Stopped in on a whim this morning, needing coffee and mini brekkie. Ordered mini brekkie, gluten free with a side of bacon, a cappuccino and a black coffee to go. Everything is amazing! Staff is attentive, nice and efficient! I'll be back!

Suejung J.

Yelp
Still love this place. Been doing a "gluten challenge" where I've reintroduced gluten for a celiac panel, and if I have to suffer anyway I might as well enjoy what I'm consuming. I got the biscuit, the normal biscuit, and I don't know what I was expecting because the gluten free one is pretty amazing, and not "it's pretty good for being gluten free," but "it's pretty good period." So the regular gluten filled biscuit is also phenomenal. They're in parity, you can't really tell them apart by taste or texture, just by how your system handles gluten if it cares. I'll still come here for the gluten free biscuits, london fogs, mochas, latte breves, and eggs and ham and bacon. This place is popular and not fast, so consider this ahead of time. They do take to-go orders online so you can place an order on Toast and then come pick it up. I've done this when I've wanted something but was short on time. Otherwise it's a nice place to hang out at if you have the time.

Leslie B.

Yelp
Love this for atmosphere, great coffee, and friendliness of service. Knocking a point off as it appears they have no VEGAN options entrees, they have granola, etc. But that's not interesting.

dave c.

Yelp
I've been waiting for my sandwich for more than 20 minutes. At 20ish minutes into it I asked the cashier when or if, she was rude in attitude and said "can't you see it's busy in here? " Nope, never going here again. Edit- I threw half the sandwich away. It was the worst biscuit, it seemed left over from days past, and fried to cover that up.

Sofie D.

Yelp
The latte was fine, but $9.25 for a 12 oz. flavored latte (the largest size) with oat milk is beyond insane when other places nearby have comparable (or better) espresso drinks that are much less expensive. The servers and atmosphere were nice, but you certainly pay for it.

Louise F.

Yelp
Stopped by for breakfast/brunch on a day trip to Everett. Friendly service, cozy coffee shop, the fluffiest biscuits, and a solid breakfast burrito. Great start to the day.

Jimena H.

Yelp
Very nice and cozy inside which is always a plus. Food was good but nothing too special, definitely thought there would be some fruit or something on the side considering the price.

Jax D.

Yelp
This review is based on the location and food. If you find yourself going to a wedding in Snohomish, WA and need a good cup of Joe, keep reading ... Being the amazing yelp reviewer that I am, I needed to tell you about this unexpected coffee shop either you'll either want to stop in for a a winters break, or a summer road trip to Vancouver. Was here for a wedding and wanted to take the off times pre/post wedding to explore this little town. We went to a local record shop for vintage records and decided to see what we could find to eat. Opened Yelp and found this gem. The coffee was made to order. The dessert cookie (chocolate chip) was delightful (next time asking for it to be warmed). The breakfast options were many. The reason why I am giving one star less, is there was no buses and no ease to find seating. You're either fighting for a seat, or the previous customer left the table a mess and no one was cleaning, wiping or sanitizing tables down. The store team was brilliant. Could've been an off day because they were straight to the point without asking if we needed recommendations. Overall, I'd stop here again to experience the wider brunch/lunch menu.

Luis S.

Yelp
Food was fantastic. Everything tasted fresh. Service was pretty fast. Ambiance is very modern and clean. Biscuits are made from scratch and they taste like it! Breakfast is worth the money. Hostess did a great job explaining the menu.

Katherine C.

Yelp
Never been here but thanks to fellow Yelpers. The Salted caramel Bourbon latte was to die for! And the brownie was decadent and moist. The biscuit and mushroom gravy was fantastic. Biscuit not dry at all and the gravy was savory with a hint of spice on the finish. The baked eggs was a little to the dry side. Like half of it and then the rest was perfect. My hubby was so enthused he wanted to return. Staff was super friendly along with the lady sitting across from table. Noise was low as everyone was respectful and maybe remote working too lol. Great place!

Yelp
SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Came here on my birthday a few months ago and had one of the best biscuits I have ever tasted. The jam served with it was not from a jar. The biscuit was huge, soft, butter and just a hint of sweetness. It is also expensive so I waited to go back. Fast forward to today! I recently had surgery and my appetite returned so I thought I would treat myself to a biscuit for breakfast. What a mistake. This biscuit today tastes old and very hard on the outside. I don't know if it is day old or over baked. It is definitely darker in color. I want to say it is old and reheated bc it is dry and has a weird taste and smell to it like it was brushed with oil or butter or cooked in it in an effort to try to reheat it. It is crunchy and dry and big. What a huge waste of money. I am so incredibly disappointed. Also it was served with what tastes and looks like mashed up cranberry jelly from a can. I wish we could get our money and time back as it was over a 45 minute trip for such a disaster. The biscuit was the ONLY thing my family liked from our first trip. The drinks are overpriced and not good tasting. The food was not good. The employees were not friendly. Me and friend had planned on meeting here with our group in the New Year but we will be going somewhere else! The place is cute but is very overcrowded and noisy.

Julie T.

Yelp
Excellent food. Highly recommend the avocado toast with fresh crusty bread topped with avocado, an abundance of olive oil and fresh lemon infused micro greens, pickled onions, sliced radishes and a scrambled egg for good measure. Yum!

Charlotte B.

Yelp
Staff was super friendly! Loved the atmosphere super chill. The food was amazing and the coffee was perfect!!

Nicole K.

Yelp
The atmosphere was amazing, the people that work there was breathe of fresh air. Inside it was an open concept and the wood beams in the ceiling were beautiful. Did I tell you that the people that work there are great especially Keziah. She just juggled that front counter like she owned it! I just totally fell in love with them. Oh I almost forgot the main thing, the food! I loved it, the food was super delicious. Go try it yourself and when you see Keziah tell her Nicole said hi.

TJ Q.

Yelp
Gotta agree with the other yelpers here. Great vibe and everyone was so friendly. Ordered the baked eggs which were absolutely a perfect light breakfast. Got the iced coffee with some cream. So good. A little WiFi and some work. Overall a must stop when in Everett!

Angelica K.

Yelp
The best spot. It was a Monday morning super busy. It don't seem to quiet down for the few hours I was there working. The staff is amazingly friendly and the service is fast. I didn't get to try any food, but everything I saw coming out the kitchen looked amazing. Great WiFi connection and even better coffee.

Sunny H.

Yelp
It was mid. Website looked beautiful and reviews seem attractive. But the americano was too weak. I think they use light roast so perhaps not best suited for americano. So then I also ordered lavender mocha after. It was also underwhelming. Disappointed. Biscuit was pretty decent though. Will prolly skip next time and drive through without stopping.

Hoai Huong P.

Yelp
The coffee was delicious and biscuit was delicious. The biscuit was crunchy on outside, soft on inside, buttery flavor but not overwhelming. I love the special milk they use. My only complaint was it was super crowded and some people table squat to study even though they only have one cup of coffee. It's crowded and hard to get a seat.

Matt C.

Yelp
Best pour over I've had In a while! Not too crowded, and super delicious food! The interior is super cute and clean as well.

Peter M.

Yelp
I was growing weary of crappy hotel coffee, so when I was in Everett I insisted we go get real coffee. Cool place, nice staff. Industrial and millennial. Wife got some oat milk concoction. Checked out. I got the lime and coffee ice drink. I came around. It's weird combo. Like someone spilled their limeade in their coffee. I sort of liked it, then hated it, then back to sort of liking it. Their meals looked good. We got some spinach filled pastry, that went uneaten. Not because it didn't taste good, just no one realized what we had ordered and were let down it wasn't sweet--our fault, I know! Chocolate chip cookies however, did not go uneaten. Solid cookie. Would go again.

Jason M.

Yelp
Greaaaaaaaaate coffee here and equally delicious breakfast. Service is always quick and without event. The interior has more of a downtown working ambiance but that's expected given its proximity to government buildings. Highly recommend.

Sudipta R.

Yelp
Great ambiance and coffee, for a casual Sunday. The decor is very welcoming. And usually, this is a very crowded spot (not surprising). We stepped in for some coffees to go and strolled around the farmer's market right outside.

Zermin A.

Yelp
Review for attitude not food! This place is open till 2pm and stop serving breakfast at 1pm! Boggles my mind! It's NOT like the kitchen is closed, they have a special menu with food items for the last hour! Again boggles my mind. We were 8 mins late! Got there at 1:08pm, and they refused to serve breakfast! They did the same to the person ahead of us who got there 4mins late! He was disappointed and so were we! I mean how could u not even give a 10min grace! They were happy to lose business as long as they didn't have to actually work for the last hour! Weird!

Annie G.

Yelp
Try the mushroom gravy biscuit. You won't be disappointed. It's a bit pricey here, but the customer service and great vibe are worth it.

Monika C.

Yelp
I am sitting here in the middle of the chatter, wishing I would have worn looser pants, or that I could at least pop that top button open. Is Narrative expensive? Yes. Do you get what you pay for? Absolutely. Today I got the Limewired ice coffee (they juice their own limes!), and I'm not joking when I say the combination is not something I would have ever tried but I'm pretty sure it's going to be my go to when I'm here. When they say refreshing they're not joking. Hubs got the Tame Filtered Coffee and said it's "great". We couldn't decide what we wanted so we ordered the Avocado Toast (full sized) and the Breakfast burrito. I'm not a big eater so if you're not sharing (or not sharing with someone who has a bottomless stomach) I recommend getting the half size. The breakfast burrito was really good and definitely was packed with meat, no skimping here. Ps, I sat at the bar and got to watch them make chai tea, no $hitty concentrate boxes here.

Dan J.

Yelp
Great ambiance, delicious biscuits, and wide variety of coffee selections. Tall ceilings with ceiling lights made for a very airy and well lit seating area throughout the cafe. Their biscuits were freshly baked, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The butter tasted freshly whipped and the rhubarb jam had a good amount of tart. Service was a little slow for the small amount of food we ordered but the food quality made it up for it. Will definitely come back for more!

Aline G.

Yelp
This is a gorgeous, peaceful coffee house with a wide open space and lots of seating especially for those of you that are able to work virtually. It's got lots of natural light, plants tastefully set around, and a couple big couches for groups to share. I was searching for a good coffee house and stumbled across this one. The reviews are spot on in regards to the amazing food and even more amazing coffee. I ordered the biscuits and mushroom gravy with an egg on top. These biscuits are to die for - buttery, flaky, soft, the right amount of crust on the top and bottom. The gravy was savory and not overly salty and just look at that beautiful egg on top. 10/10! Definitely worth sharing because it is a good amount of food. My husband ordered the biscuit Benedict and it was a giant serving, also worth sharing as well. The Benedict overall was good, but the hollandaise was interesting. It was very bright and maybe just slightly too acidic, it was very vinegar/lemon forward which I was not expecting. 7/10 just because of the sauce. For coffee I ordered the iced lavender mocha, just to try something new and different. The coffee definitely gets lost in the mocha and just had a pure chocolate milk taste with a hint of the lavender. If you're a lover of mocha's, this is the drink for you! My husband ordered a pour over with a roast that the barista recommended. We didn't have to wait too long for it and the flavors were so clean and refreshing to drink. I'm not sure what roast but it was very blueberry and lemon curd forward. Each barista in here was so attentive and caring, taking the time to chit chat and ask about yourself. It was such a wonderful experience! I will 100% be coming back here in the future. Thank you for having an amazing coffee shop and employees!

Natasha A.

Yelp
Biscuits Eggs Benedict- say no more. Coffee is good but all I remember is the eggs benny

Mary D.

Yelp
Went at 11am on a Sunday and it place was packed! The food was great and service was quick. Seems like a great place to get work done during the week but seems super popular so I would maybe avoid it as a place to work during the weekends during peak hours. By just before noon the line was gone and there was more seating! Super cool space and I would definitely recommend!

Georgia D.

Yelp
The coffee and snacks offered are very good, excellent quality. The employees are friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable on the coffees they're serving. A wonderful bonus is the look and feel of the inside of this shop. Big, beautiful skylights, exposed beams and brick--very lovely. This is a great spot to visit!

Bailey R.

Yelp
Great coffee stop in DT Everett. Eclectic vibe. Only complaint is that it can get packed!
