The 25 Best Restaurants In San Sebastián - San Sebastián - The Infatuation

"The outdoor setup at Narru is exactly where you want to be in the nicer months: under the column-lined arcade looking out on the Buen Pastor cathedral, eating seasonal and simple-but-well-executed dishes, and among a buzzy crowd where all the locals go to see and be seen on the weekends. Even if the phrase “cod chin” feels like an oddly specific insult, don’t let that prevent you from trying some of the city’s best kokotxas, served in three styles: sauced, battered, and pil pil. The highlights of the menu are when they let the fancy ingredients shine, so try the oysters topped with an apple vinaigrette and the oxtail ravioli served with foie gras and shaved black truffle." - marti buckley

"Located opposite the city’s Buen Pastor cathedral, Narru boasts a modern dining room in which the menu features traditional, market-inspired cuisine with an unequivocal focus on high-quality ingredients that tries to reflect its own character and provide an element of surprise. It features one informal space perfect for tapas and a second more elegant dining area with tables and tablecloths in which the à la carte (half portions are possible) is complemented by an impressive tasting menu. The restaurant takes its name from the nickname of the chef’s great-grandfather, a former professional pelota player." - Michelin Inspector

October ‘25: The place same highly recommended as one of the up and coming places to try San Sebastián. For a Michelin star place I found the service a bit haphazard, the waiting between some dishes was quite long and also it took a while for the staff to notice when a drink refill was required (less check ins with the tables). There were other tables next to mine who were also getting restless with waiting. The food was mainly good and simple with some dishes standing out more (tuna dish and desserts).

The staff were enough attentive and helpful. We were in the restaurant section and the ambiance was elegant, spacious and comfortable. The food was very good, we ordered different dishes to share. My favorites were fish soil, octopus and mushroom respectively. The bill was balanced.

Reservations needed on Saturday at the bar unless you’re having a quick tapas bite before 8pm. The bar was packed between 7-8.30pm. Nice buzz in the place. Staff tried really hard to find our group of 6 people a space. The pulpo was one of the best we’ve had in the week after having it in several small bars in Madrid and San Sebastián. Cheesecake had great runny texture. Paired nicely with the berry sorbet. Not quite the typical basque burnt cheesecake but a good dessert nonetheless.

enjoyed the Basque cheesecake here. Thin top crust, soft airy core, very sophisticatedly sweetened (not sweet at all) and pairs perfectly with the WONDERFUL raspberry sorbet served on the side (i loved the sorbet equally). Serving size good for 2 @ €10 Pleasant service Beautifully designed modern restaurant

The cheesecake and the grilled octopus were my favorites. But the cheesecake is on another level . Airy, foamy, soft, perfectly balanced in sweetness, and that caramelized top… just outstanding.

Some of the dishes are exceptional - mushrooms ravioli and the lemon desert, but the rest were a bit bland. The service should be improved, too. Yes, I’m a bit more critical but it’s Michelin recommended .

We went there for some pintxos, don’t be scared by the high price, the quality is there, as well as the very fast & professional service. The open kitchen is buzzing & is nice to watch. Food wise everything wa supe tasty & well presented. They seem to have a nice wine list, I would suggest them to present it to the guests instead of asking what type of wine they want. Very good experience overall!

Let me start with the most important: the food and wine here are excellent, we had a tasty and abundant lunch, served by some really nice people (kudos to the sommelier!). But the service in total was not to same level of the food and careful design of the interior. Partly no doubt, to our lack of skills in Spanish, but we love to know what we are eating, and the plates were served without a word. What could not be due to language was that we had to ask multiple times for water or a refill of oil. In the end the wonderful sommelier jumped in and took control - his English was excellent, which helped of course. But again, these are minor points, just to provide a way to improve! The food was gorgeous, the tuna belly heavenly soft, the beef ravioli with foie made us speachless. Then tender beef and two gorgeous deserts We xould not ask for more, and stumbled outside.
