The best burgers in HTX! Fast and inexpensive what more could you want? Great service and friendly owners? Narwhal Jousting Club has that too! Definitely get the double and I'd recommend salt and pepper fries over the "magical" ones. If you're a burger lover, or simply eat one on occasion, this is THE place to get yourself to!

Excellent burger! Perfectly charred, perfectly pink. The awesome sauce was definitely awesome. The bread was also perfect. Not too much, but just enough. Grab a few napkins because these are messy! Highly recommended. Not too many places to sit, but it seems like enough with the outside seating and some good weather. Parking can be tight and tricky, but it’s available. Or you can park on the street down the way a bit. Don’t let the outside fool you. These folks are dishing up some amazing burgers!

One of the best burgers in Houston for sure. This restaurant is a very small, no frills burger joint situated right near Washington Ave. on Durham. There’s only 3 things on the menu, Burgers, fries and drinks. Burger was made perfectly, juicy patty, grilled onions, pickles and the sauce is very good, tastes like it’s ancho based. All of the food is made to order and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The price for a burger combo here was very affordable compared to most other burger restaurants. If you’re a burger fan then you absolutely need to eat at Narwhal Jousting Club. 5/5, will always be back and will definitely be telling everyone

The char on the outside is the real deal, smoky and crisp without being dry or overdone. Inside, it’s hot, juicy, and cooked exactly right. And the buns are soft, squishy, fresh, and somehow sturdy enough to hold everything together without falling apart. It’s the little details, and they nail every one of them. And then there are the Magic Fries. Magic indeed. I don’t know what they do to them, but they are unlike anything else in town. Crispy, flavorful, and truly addictive, the kind of fries you keep reaching for even when you’re already full. They call them Magic for a reason. Super casual, easy vibe in a cute little house in a funky neighborhood. Think food truck meets front porch of a friend's house. BYOB makes it even better. No fuss, no pretense, just exceptional burgers done right. They only do burgers and fries. Nothing else. So if you want the best burger, go where this is all they do... and do it right. In a city full of options, this one stands out above the rest. Absolutely worth it.

Solid burger and fries that use a different kind of sauce called Awesome Sauce. Everything made to order so it’s fresh and hot. Pretty minimal eating area and parking is kinda confusing. Staff are nice as well. I’d come here again

I have no idea about the tacos, but the burgers are delicious and cooked just right—definitely worth a visit if you’re craving a good, simple combo.

Food was pretty good - their Magic Fries have cinnamon, which I’ve never tried on fries before. I liked that the menu was very simple. Seating is limited.

This is a small neighborhood smashburger spot that can be easily missed but seems quite popular with locals. We came here on a random Saturday late afternoon and it was fairly quiet but still had a steady stream of patrons. There's a little tablet kiosk towards the back end from the entrance in which you place your order and a drink tub you can grab your drink from (I wish this was explained as we weren't sure how obtaining a purchased drink worked). I ended up getting a burger and fry combo and got the magic fries. I thought the burger was good, classic smash burger with no frills. The fries were a bit of a disappointment for me, they were battered but weren't really crispy so had a strange tough/crunchy exterior that was not my favorite. Overall, this was a nice little burger spot for a quick and inexpensive lunch but I wouldn't necessairily crave it or make the drive out just to visit it again.

Just a really good solid burger. Their fries seasoning was unique too. Chill folks running the place. Not much to write home about the interior, but it's tucked away in a neighborhood street. Will come back!

Narwhals Narwhals! The sheer definition of limited time and exclusive, came here to join my family after word from the grapevine there were some good burgers here. Atmosphere: Small, no-frills counter spot with a few seats and a patio. It reads more neighborhood takeout than lingering café, which honestly fits the concept. (Limited parking) Food: Went double cheeseburger with fries. Two thin patties with that smash-style crisp on the edges, melty American, caramelized onions, pickles, and their "Awesome Sauce" on a soft bun. Definitely a solid burger at a great price. The unique thing though that stood out to me is the fries, I've never had 5 spice on fries, but the combination of that with other seasonings really complimented the whole experience. Service: Counter order, but all via computer. You just put in what burger you want and a drink and they bring it to you. Notes/Tips: Limited indoor seating; patio is the safer bet when the weather cooperates. Very limited parking too so plan accordingly No gimmicks--just a dialed-in, affordable burger that hits above its weight. If you want a quick, under-$10 lunch that actually tastes like something, this place earns a spot in the rotation.

Perfectly cooked cheeseburger. I've been wanting to try this place for months and I am a fan! So excited they are a few blocks from my house. The magic fries were a surprise with the spice blend that is truly magic. The owner and staff were very warm and welcoming, parking is easy-highly recommend checking them out!

My brother picked us up burgers from here and it did not disappoint! The combo deal price wise is great and it's delicious on top of that. It's got great flavor and very hearty. The fries are also great - note that it has a unique, different flavor with being more fragrant!

Great value and great cheeseburger - nicely charred and crunchy on the ends - also magic fries are crispy with a sweetness to them. We paid on the screen and they brought out the food to us. Casual seating inside and outside. Highly recommended!

This is a cute little burger spot near the Heights that offers a straightforward menu of burgers (single or double cheese) and fries with some light seasoning. We tried it after hearing about them from friends. Ordering is super easy at the screen at the far end of the dining room. Prices are reasonable for fresh burgers and fries. About 6.50 for a single cheeseburger and 10.50 for the single with fries and a can of soda. The dining area has about 5 tables and there are a few benches to the side of the house near the parking lot. Overall, I enjoyed the burger. It was juicy, flavorful, and just the right size for me. The bun didn't seem to be heated or toasted, which would've been even better in my opinion. The fries were battered and appeared to be crispy but they weren't actually that crispy when you bite into them. They're not bad, but the texture/consistency is not my personal preference. I think it's a solid burger spot given the price and quality. I'd likely go back for the single cheeseburger if I'm in the area.

AWESOME burger and fries!!! Wow, this is one of the best burgers I've had in a very, very long time! And the price point cannot be beat anywhere in Houston! And the awesome sauce, you Must get that on the burger! It is now in my top two burgers in the city! And the fries are crunchy and perfect also. Christopher was very friendly and explained the process as it was my first time there. I highly, highly recommend this local burger joint to everyone!!

Really like this place. It's small and has a few tables to sit out inside and outside. They close at 6 so get here in time. We ordered and were served within five minutes. The food was fresh, the fries were crisp and the beef patty had tons of flavor!! Has that homemade burger taste. I will definitely come again. The price is great for the value and the were super inviting and friendly also.

Warning: This is not a fast food establishment. My dining partner and I waited 20 minutes for our two cheeseburger combos. We decided to try Narwhal after all the rave reviews. To be honest, we must be missing something. The burgers were just okay. My partner's burger was burned. He would have sent it back, but we didn't want to wait another 20+ minutes for another one. The "magic fries" were well-seasoned and tasty. Overall, we have had better, and we won't be back. We'll stick with Lankford's in Montrose.

I found Narwhal Jousting Club on TikTok even though it's only about seven minutes from my house (the algorithm clearly knows me better than I know my own neighborhood). They used to offer a larger menu, but they're exclusively on burgers and fries. And honestly? They understood the assignment. The restaurant operates out of a small house converted into a casual dining spot, with both indoor and outdoor seating available. Ordering is easy through a kiosk, and the menu is straightforward: a single or double burger with fries. I went with a double burger, no cheese, extra pickles, and extra onions and to my surprise, there was no extra charge for the extras. As someone who loves pickles and onions, I appreciated how generously they were added. The onions were especially flavorful and well seasoned, and I could smell how good the burger was through the bag before I even opened it. It was juicy, flavorful, and honestly one of the best burgers I've had in Houston. I'm not a huge fan of the fries, but the burger more than made up for it. You can choose to dine in, eat on the patio, or take it to go like I did. I will definitely be back!

For what it is , it's good for the double meat burger I wish they had bacon the fries and burger were freshly made . Super small inside but it was empty so not bad very cal. The lady fixing the order was nice . The only think I disliked is my first bite the burger patty fell apart other than that all great . Definitely need to add some bacon and not so much seasoning on the meat it was a bit salty when I tried it alone . Great place to try out .

FYI one double cheeseburger online costs more than a double cheeseburger combo (fries and drink) in person. wish you could order takeout ahead of time so you don't have to wait at the store without getting ripped off. They really need to update the site with online ordering and not thru door dash

Had always noted this little shack but never paid it any mind but glad that I did! Ended up getting the cheeseburger combo with burger, fries and drink which came out to about $12, which is not very common here in Houston so they have great value. The burger was delicious! The meat was well seasoned and juicy. Maybe a little thicker than a smash burger but had the crispy bits on it. Bun was nice a buttery as well. They did initially forget my fries which I caught on the way out (which is why I gotta take off 1/2 a star), but I am glad I did because they were great. Fries were crispy and also seasoned very nicely (not sure exactly the seasoning but its not just salt). Talked to the owner John and he was super friendly and down to earth. Small spot on the inside with not much of an ambiance and the menu is limited to burgers, but it's no frills and straight gas! Highly recommend and will be back

Truly such a good burger. I was a little nervous parking at the new location as there are a ton of no parking signs, but upon entering, I was so glad we went ahead with it! It was quiet at the time. Ordering at the kiosk was quick and simple, and the back-of-house team popped out to make sure we were all good! We didn't have a long wait, but long enough to know you're getting something fresh. The price is lower than other places, AND the flavor is better!

This place is 10/10!! I had the cheeseburger combo which comes with their magic fries and a drink for $10! The burger is AMAZING...best burger in Houston! You can tell the patty is homemade. It is perfectly paired with their sauce, melty cheese and caramelized onions. The magic fries are so delicious and different. They are perfectly crispy on the outside and have a sweet and salty magic dust on the outside which works. The service was fast as your order at the kiosk and they bring out your order. The inside is small but welcoming. There are a few tables for dine in. I highly recommend you try them out for an affordable and delicious burger.

We came and we ate, it's a simple little spot burgers & fries only order at the kiosk and 10 minutes later your burger comes out. It's messy and I love me a messy burger. It's rich so get ready, 5 spice fries so get ready.

Good and juicy burger with a great price. A bit on the salty side. Seating is limited but service was great. Would recommend doing take out if your party has more than 2 people.

Today I finally got to try this place. It did not disappoint! I got the single cheeseburger and fry combo. The burger was excellent and the owner was very nice. The fries were great although I was not a fan of the magic seasoning. It has a sweetness to it almost making the fries taste like sweet potato fries. However I can see how some people will love it. In the future for me I know to stick with salt and pepper! I'm saying the future because I will be back. If I am at home or coming home and want a burger, there is no need for me to go anywhere else! The single is huge so you feeding you get the double

Burger and fries were great. The double cheeseburger combo was for about the same price as Whataburger, and definitely cheaper than a place like 5 Guys. I haven't been to Whataburger in a while so it might even be cheaper than them which is crazy considering the quality. Staff inside was extremely friendly. 10/10 burger, will definitely be coming back!

The burger at this place was great. It didn't make it home. It melts in your mouth. I never eat pickles nor onions on my burger but I did with this one. 13 dollars for a double patty fries and a can drink was worth it. Everyone inside and out was very nice. I got my order in 7 minutes. . I will be back.

I came here with my Narwhal friend who was visiting from The North Pole. We agreed that this was our favorite spot to sip and fuel up on great food and good bev for all of our Houston adventures. The Narwhal Dog was his favorite. My favorite had to be Beef Pho Real sando. The space was comfy and inviting, and the customer service was top notch! Thanks Chris and friends--we will definitely be back!

We will definitely be back! We got the steak sandwich, tots, and a chili dog. The chili dog has an Asian chili on it, with tons of flavor! There's a really cute little patio to sit on and eat.

Amazing kitchen! The food was delicious and the owner was so friendly. Service was awesome! Would definitely recommend for someone looking for good food with a neighborhood feel that is reasonably priced.
