Naschmarkt - Review - Pleasanton - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Naschmarkt feels like an Alpine lodge thanks to a dimly lit dining room, warm wood, and exposed brick. It's exactly where you want to be when it’s cold out. Settle in and get the pretzel that comes with an intensely malty beer-cheese sauce you’ll happily lick clean when pretzel reserves have been depleted. Follow it up with the pork wiener schnitzel that’s served with a tangy lingonberry sauce that improves everything it touches. The wine list leans Austrian and German—our pick is a glass of dry grüner veltliner, which pairs well with anything rich, like the Hungarian beef goulash over buttery herbed spätzle (another favorite of ours). Aim for a reservation on weekends when the schnitzel-seeking crowds are on the prowl." - Gabi Moskowitz

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Amazing Experience! We had such a wonderful time at Naschmarkt in Pleasanton! From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. Danny, our server, was incredibly kind, attentive, and made our dining experience truly memorable. A huge thank you also to Ismail, the owner, who came by to check on us and made us feel right at home — such a gracious and passionate host! As for the food — wow! We loved the chicken schnitzel sandwich, perfectly crispy and full of flavor. The sausage triowas a highlight as well, with each sausage offering a unique and delicious taste of Austria. And the goulash (or “ghoulish” as we happily called it!) was rich, comforting, and absolutely soul-satisfying. We left full, happy, and already talking about our next visit. So amazing. Can’t wait to come back

Saw this place and the reviews so we decided to try it. Never tried Austrian food. Ordered recommendations by the waiter. Restaurant did everything correctly. Service was better than average and the place was clean and orderly. It may have been our palette and it is very new to Austrian cuisine. Instead of tasting different flavors in every bite, it was more of a stew or covered with sauce. Would it be our go to, probably not but it deserves another chance. Since it was our first time to experience Austrian food, we also need to expand our worldly palettes. Total for everything was ~$250 (1 soup, 1 appetizer, 4 main dish, no dessert, 20% tip, no wine, 1 soda)

Google
RAVE for Naschmarkt Pleasanton! The warm and elegant atmosphere. Our waitress was friendly and punctual. The beer, wine and cocktail options are quite wide. We tried Pineapple Express Coctail, the classic Wiener Schnitzel, Homemade Pretzel, Spatzle, Grilled Sturgeon. The meals were great and a great restaurant in every detail in Downtown. Definitely recommend it!

Google
We were so excited to try this new Austrian restaurant! Very unique to Pleasanton. My friends had the salmon, and the Beef Hungarian goulash. I'm getting the delicious goulash next time! I had the eggs Benedict. It had a little kick to the Austrian sauce and was so yummy! My husband had the fish tar tar and loved it. We also shared the Brie and apricot egg rolls! I will crave those forever! It was so nice to sit outside. They have a full bar inside and the decor is very beautiful and classy. We talked with the owner and the manager. We've met them before and are very friendly.

Google
Wonderful experience - top-notch cooking. Naschmarkt blends authentic Austrian food with the perfect amount of fusion for an overwhelming experience. Yes, the food is not free - good food takes time, effort - but when you taste that Jaegerschnitzel, you'll know where your $$ went. The entrees, desserts are delicious - I enjoyed the SALZBURGER NOCKERL - lightest vanilla souffle I've ever tasted. Wonderful service, our server knew what we were looking for and exactly how to give us the best experience.

Google
Creative Austrian cuisine; the goulash & schnitzel are highly recommended. They also make a first class strudel. Service was excellent.

Google
Finally an Austrian restaurant in the Tri-Valley! Very good food & drinks, almost-authentic Austrian taste (we had the Wiener Schnitzel and the Goulash),good service and nice atmosphere (even when very tightly packed and music on the loud side, still possible to have conversation). Not cheap, but as expected based on prices at their Campbell location and various Bay Area German restaurants.

Google
We had dinner last night at this new location and the food and service were fantastic. We had previously attended the Campbell location, and are so happy to have a Pleasanton location for one of our favorite restaurants. Our waiter, John, was very attentive, but not intrusive. The manger and owner came by to make sure everything was ok. It was a great meal and beautiful environment. The drink menu was extensive and delicious. I would recommend the Barrel aged old fashion. The apple strudel was Devine. We will definitely be returning.

Yelp
Dined on a Friday afternoon with a large party (12 people). Service was great, although we were the only party sitting inside. There were some customers outside but maybe 2-3 other groups only. Price is a bit on the pricier side. We started off with appetizers, which were all great. Very homey tasting and seasoned well. Spatzle - rich and creamy. Seems simple but tasty. tavern fries - Huge wedges, slightly crispy, and the aioli tasted like Chik fil A sauce. Salted well. Homemade pretzel - good, but eat it quickly before it cools down. Came with a thick cheese sauce. Sausage trio - juicy and had slight char. Meatball Mac and cheese - I didn't note down the name of this dish, but it had a slightly thinner cheese sauce. The caramelized onions also gave it slightly sweet flavor. There were small pieces of meatball in it, which was tasty. For the entree, I opted for the pork Wiener schnitzel. You can choose pork cutlet or the veal cutlet (more expensive). The waiter did say that the veal is more popular, but I tried the pork. It had a light breading and was fairly large and cooked well. I wasn't the biggest fan of the fruit sauce it came with, and wish the lemon slices were chunks so you could squeeze it easily. The side potato salad it comes with is refreshing.

Yelp
I made reservations thinking that I needed to but I got there a bit early and we got seated early with no issue. Plenty of parking around the back for being in downtown Pleasanton. It's a lovely place that can be great as a dinner date, large groups, or friends. The staff was pleasant and attentive! Dinner among friends didn't go as planned. The plan was to enjoy a few happy hour items, drinks, an entree, and maybe dessert. What happened instead was we ended up ordering every HH item on the menu and all the dessert courses. Lol The standout for appetizers was the spring roll. Filling was French brie, veggies, and an apricot chili sauce. The sliders were the next best thing with sausage, sauerkraut, caramelized onions between Hawaiian roll was delicious. The side of fries were better than the tavern fries. The pretzel was just okay, the tavern fries were maybe too crispy for my liking. I probably wouldn't order the other items again. All the desserts were delicious. You can't go wrong with a chocolate lava cake, or a souffle, and an apple strudel. The only photo missing is of the apple strudel. I believe it came with ice cream too. Rating this an honest 3 stars because we ended up only ordering from the HH menu and desserts. I can say that the entrees sounded amazing but we never got to that point. My Radler was amazing though. I'd come back for that next time and an entree.

Yelp
Wanted a place that took reservations and food would be good for my family and kids. This place met the requirements! RESERVATIONS: Made them a day beforehand for 7 and it was easy, got the spot I wanted. PARKING: Parked in the lot behind the restaurant, which is near the bank and behind Elia. Found plenty of spots and walked less than 2 minutes. ATMOSPHERE: It was december so they were deocrated for christmas, it's a nice atmosphere, festive and low lit with little lights on the table. It was mostly older people eating at 5:30 pm on a Sunday night but overall it was a nice restaurant for a date night or eating with family. FOOD: It's austrian food but to me it reminds me of german food. WIENER SCHNITZEL (PORK) - it comes with two pieces. that are perfectly fried and thin, it also has a side of ligonberry jam, lemon slices and then another side of soft cold potato "salad" with dill. The pork was tender, crispy and the kids loved it. Potato salad was interesting and refreshing. SPAETZLE - got it as a side for the kids and I called it "mac n cheese" and they liked it. It didn't have that much flavor, was more buttery/mild and the "pasta" is pretty soft so don't think it's al dente. PRETZEL - got the pretzel appetizer for the kids and they loved it too, the cheese dipping sauce was tasty. the pretzel is bready and with salt on top. My mom got the hungarian goulash and said it was very good as well. No kids menu but they did have cups (plastic) with straws and a lid. Overall, we all enjoyed our meals and they also made the salmon dairy free for my sister that can't have dairy.

Yelp
We decided to try this fairly new restaurant to downtown Pleasanton for our son's birthday because it served Schnitzel, a dish we had tried on our only trip to Frankfurt, Germany almost 10 years ago and while this restaurant is Austrian, the menu looked similar to the one we had first seen in Frankfurt. We were seated in the patio outdoors on a sunny California afternoon and ordered a beet salad and bratwurst for appetizers and for the main course we got the Chicken Paprikash and Hungarian Beef Goulash served with spatzle (pasta), Classic wiener schnitzel served with a potato salad (which was missing) and smoked Bratwurst served with a pretzel bun and tavern fries. The wine and beer lists were extensive and the desserts...apple strudel with whipped cream and vanilla bean icecream and schoko kuchen (chocolate cake) with vanilla bean icecream completed the meal. Everything was absolutely delicious and far exceeded our expectations.

Yelp
I have been to downtown Pleasanton many times but never to Naschmarkt. It was great to finally try it! Service here was super friendly and the restaurant has a nice ambiance. We went on a random weekday for lunch and it was hopping inside but we sat outside on the patio because the weather was nice. The patio is a great option if you would like to enjoy the scenery or chitchat with passersby. The menu has some good variety so we ordered a bunch of different dishes to try. Top two for me were the sausage trio and weiner schnitzel. The sausage was very good, there was one that was a bit spicy and tasted like an herby hot link, the brat was solid and the other sausage (maybe paprika?) was also very flavorful. As for the schnitzel, it was seasoned nicely and not too greasy. Overall, we had a good experience, but one downside was the main dishes took a long time to come, like maybe 30 minutes or more. I would recommend going here if you have time for a leisurely meal, but since we had come from the office and were on a bit of a time crunch, we only had time to eat a few bites before we needed to head back.

Yelp
Wow, this place was much better than I expected and also super cute! Ambiance: Indoor and outdoor seating. Cute date night spot. Food: 1. Cheese pretzel ($16) the pretzel was soft and easy to eat with the cheese beer dip. It was a nice appetizer which you normally don't get other restaurants. 2. Smoked chicken spatzle ($20) sooo good. It was creamy and flavorful. I was impressed by this dish and would highly recommend. 3. Pork classic Wiener schnitzel ($36) this was like a pork cutlet which was also good. It's paired with potato salad. 4. Salzburger nocker ($16) draft beer 5. Blueberry soufflé - preorder this because it takes about 20 minutes. This was soft and delicious with the ice cream. The food surprisingly came out pretty fast and everything all at once. Service: Very friendly and attentive! We enjoyed chatting with the servers. Parking: Street parking Overall, everything was great here and I'd recommend to anyone looking for a cute lunch or dinner spot in Pleasanton.

Yelp
Walked in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with our dogs. It's a plus that this place is dog friendly. Food however was just ok. Nothing really stood out. There was a slight language barrier between us and the server, however it was fine. The interior looked really beautiful inside, and outdoor seating was clean and spacious too.

Yelp
Second visit with work people. Had a lot of what we ordered before and the salmon and chicken pot pie. Great food, great service. It is a great place to try a bunch of different dishes and share.

Yelp
Snice the opening, summer 2025, I have dined here four times. The first time was exceptional, the second time was good, the third time, it seemed the food had slipped a bit and the fourth time was just OK. I will venture to say that with any new restaurant, it take awhile to get into the groove and find the pace and build the culture and staff. I do enjoy the menu and the traditional German/ Austrian fare. The soups are beautifully presented and very tasty, the Weiner schnitzel and pork chop are a must try. the potatoes salad has been inconsistent. I have enjoyed the wines. The one thing that is consistent is the service. It's been very good. I will dine here again and keep it in my rotation of Main St. choices, I think they are just still getting into their groove. The space is lovely and has warm lighting. I do believe they have live music inside on Thursday nights.

Yelp
My friend and I came here for dinner on a Friday evening. We made reservations for 6pm. We were a few minutes late but they seated us right away. The interior is cozy. We just ordered our entree and I went with the salmon with puréed potatoes, cherry potatoes with a lemon butter dill sauce. It was very light and flavorful. My friend had the pot pie and the crust looked so flaky and light. We then had tea and decaf latte. Service was attentive. The manager came around a couple of times to ask how everything was. I would return here again!

Yelp
The staff were very nice and responsive. They topped off our waters multiple times and checked in on us often to see how we were doing. They also offer bread at your request which I found to be well-made. We got the pretzel with bacon beer cheese which was good! They definitely were generous with the amount of cheese they offered. And then for an entree I got the Austrian Beef Goulash. It was pretty good! The flavor was good, the only qualm I had with it was some of the beef chunks felt a little dry in contrast to the lovely slow cooked chunks in the rest of it. Overall a very pleasant experience!

Yelp
A wonderful experience! My husband and I went to the Campbell location many years ago and loved it. We met our friends in Pleasanton and talk them into going to your restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. Oh my gosh, it was wonderful. We all had a lot of fun. Our table was a bit loud for a Monday afternoon. However, we ordered everything. My husband and purchased a lot of dishes to take home because we don't have time to cook. It still tasted great after two days. This location is closer to me since I live in Fremont. We will definitely return. I don't know what to suggest, everything was wonderful. I want to give a shout out to Renée. He was wonderful and made us feel very comfortable.. We are definitely coming back to this location.

Yelp
We stopped in because they had schnitzel. Wow it didn't disappoint. My mom and I shared the meal and it was just enough food for the both of us. I love the pretzel bun paired with the cutlet. The flavors balanced one another. The service was exceptional. I loved the fact he allowed us to enjoy the time, the salad before bringing out the sandwich. Ambiance was relaxing sitting on the patio, watching people pass by.

Yelp
Charming old world atmosphere with small table lamps. The service was good, accurate, excellent with changing out plates and cutlery between courses. A tad tentative when interacting with the customers, but they're still new. Absolutely mo complaints about the food. The starter bread was great. The soup of the day was a garlic soup - creamy garlicky flavor with chili oil swirl, and pretzel bits for crunch. I'd never had something like this. It was fabulous, silky smooth. The entrées were all good. We had Kraut Rouladen, Jager Schnitzel and a pork classic Wienerschnitzel. Spätzle was served as a side. Super good. Meats were all tender and flavorful. Tiny suggestion (that I informed the owner about) - because the serving plates are thin, the temperature of the thin schnitzels cooled down a little too fast. So maybe heating the plates ahead of serving would be a good idea, to help keep the meats warm. We finished with the Salzburger Nockerl - wow! Light and puffy soufflé with ice cream and blueberries. One of our group is German heritage and she said the food was better than some she'd had back in Austria. High praise! Excellent addition to the downtown Pleasanton dining scene.

Yelp
This was my 1st visit to this restaurant. I tried one of their specialty drinks, along with a pretzel. Both were excellent. The meal was very well prepared and tasted great.

Yelp
Naschmarkt definitely delivers on atmosphere. "Hustling bustling" is an understatement! The energy was high, a real vibrant buzz that made you feel like you'd stepped into a lively European eatery. Definitely a pro tip for larger groups: reservations are a must if you're more than a duo! The service here truly shines. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, and impressively knowledgeable about every dish we inquired about. They navigated the menu with ease, offering helpful descriptions and answering our questions thoughtfully. A solid 4.5 stars for the front-of-house team We started with the Beef Goulash. As someone who prefers leaner cuts, I appreciated the quality of the beef. However, while tender, the sauce leaned a tad on the subtle side. I personally would have enjoyed a more flavors and a bit more complex seasoning blend. It was a decent dish The Karout Roulash, on the other hand, was the more intriguing of the two mains. The real star here was the mushroom demi-glace. It was rich, earthy, and truly elevated the entire dish, adding a layer of sophistication that the beef goulash was missing. For dessert, we opted for the Blueberry Soufflé, and it was a delightful end to the meal. The soufflé itself was incredibly delicate and airy, melting in the mouth with a lovely, natural blueberry flavor. What impressed me most was that it wasn't overly sweet, allowing the fruit's essence to truly come through. I didn't feel the need for a bitter coffee chaser, which is always a good sign for a well-balanced dessert. Give em a try!

Yelp
We decided to check out this newer restaurant in downtown Pleasanton after a friend recommended it and other Yelp reviewers have overall given very positive reviews. We were hopeful to try something new with Austrian cuisine... but, we were left underwhelmed. On a Friday evening, we made advanced reservations, only to find that it was not needed given there was plenty of seating remaining on the patio as well as more than enough seating inside. We were quickly seated and offered to dying in the patio. The Ambiance is nice with the modern interior and quaint outdoor setup. We were instantaneously served with ice water and bread at the table. So far so good. Our waiter attended to us not long after and we placed our order for one classic pork weiner schnitzel and one chicken pot pie. Our food did not take long to come and they were all neatly plated. I definitely was not expecting to see that in fact an authentic wiener schnitzel is pressed meat that is breaded and deep fried. I find it quite amusing that my understanding of a Wienerschnitzel has been formed by the fast food hot dog chain. But in fact this would have been my first introduction to the very classic dish from Austria. This dish was served with a side of potatoes and squash in some sort of dill sauce. I definitely was not a fan of the sauce. So it remained mostly untouched. Now on to our other dish which was chicken pot pie. We were definitely intrigued what would chicken pot pie at an Austrian restaurant be like. It came with a ring of phyllo crust sitting atop the chicken pot pie filling that was quite sparse in ingredients. Maybe it's my ignorance, but it definitely was not what I was expecting giving my understanding has been shaped by my past experiences with the classic American Marie Callender's. So while the food was underwhelming and definitely overpriced averaging around $40 and entree, service was also subpar. Our waters were not filled without our efforts to grab the staff's attention; and even when they did come to fill up my glass, they did not fill up my husband's. More likely than not, we will not be returning as they are many other options in the downtown Pleasanton area. Oh well, you can't win them all.

Yelp
We had a lunch here on a Friday, not busy, great outdoor seating area. The spaetzle was our favorite, nice combo with included corn and Brussel sprouts as well as chicken. We also had that sausage sampler plate, great tasting sausages & their house made sauerkraut & rotkohl was very good.

Yelp
well now I guess I've been to all the locations (Palo Alto, Campbell and now Pleasanton) and the menu is the same, the service is great, and the food is good. It's more of a special treat or expense account meal though, even without any alcohol you can spend $50 pp, just on lunch. But it's a good experience and I'm sure I'll be back. Outdoor and indoor seating.

Yelp
Great to see another cuisine option in downtown Pleasanton. Took over the former Pairings spot. Nice ambiance. Service was friendly. Generous food portions. Authentic Eastern European cuisine. Bacon/Beer sauce for the homemade pretzel was flavorful, but a tad salty. The goulash and jager schnitzel were balanced and delicious. The meat in the goulash could have use a little more time to be a bit more consistently tender across the pieces. The mushroom sauce on the jager schnitzel was good to the last drop. Be sure to sop it all up with your spatzle.
google avatar

Augusto T.

Yelp
Delicious Schnitzel. I like that Naschmarkt offers something unique to the area. Modern Austrian food in a stylish venue. I enjoyed my cocktail and the classic veal Schnitzel was perfect. Great flavor, crispy outside, tender and juicy. The pork belly could have been good and it maybe was great at one point, but they really dried out the bottom to the point were it was super stiff and stringy. The nice atmosphere was undermined by people playing loud sounds on their phones with no regard for others around them... Also the alternative rock mix they were playing inside went to weird places when Linkin Park joined the fray. I'll definitely be back for the Schnitzel.
google avatar

Matt C.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. I've been to the one in Palo Alto but I live in Pleasanton so this is closer. The service was outstanding. The waiter sometimes is the chef and his recommendations were on point. Full disclosure: my wife and her girlfriends go there after yoga for happy hour, so she's a regular and they know her. My kids were treating us to dinner and we loved it all. I recommend Naschmarkt "whole-stomach-ly"! Which is wholeheartedly but with my tummy! Yummy food, great service, drinks, just what one would want.
google avatar

Karuna K.

Yelp
Ambiance is great, great service. Excellent list of beers , wine and some great hand crafted cocktails. Their dessert menu looks great . Food wise- Lots of options for meat eaters. If you are a vegetarian , there are just limited options on the menu. The items are pretty steeply priced. So you might want to keep this for really special occasions:) I would go there for their drinks and dessert!
google avatar

Kristina M.

Yelp
We were excited to see what the new owners of the former Pairings restaurant had in store for its patrons. They have done a wonderful job with the decor and much improved seating. It's comfortable and modern. The space is quite tight. It was noticeably challenging for wait staff to get around and serve. Removing one of the tables and spreading out the remainder in the row adjacent to the bar should help with this. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. The food was good but not commiserate with the price charged. For what the food is, the price point will probably deter us from making this a favorite spot. For example, specialty cocktails were $18-$20! The most inexpensive entree was in the mid-30s. The sausage appetizer was $39-not worth it.
google avatar

L S.

Yelp
Such a lovely restaurant. So refreshing to get a different cuisine that not only tasted delicious but looked and was presented beautifully. Service was friendly and efficient. Great to have a smaller size portion of entrees listed under appetizers. Just the perfect size for me. Highly recommend. We will definitely go back.
google avatar

Daphne A.

Yelp
Made reservations here and were greeted right away by the friendly staff. We sat outside to enjoy the beautiful day. For our appetizer, we had the pretzel with beer-cheese sauce was tasty. The Hungarian goulash is a must when you come here. Please see my pictures. The portions were generous, so much so that we had no room for dessert. Will have to come back for the blueberry soufflé. Thank you for a delicious and friendly experience!

Danielle P.

Yelp
Great food, also went above and beyond when door dash forgot an item and personally delivered it to us. Have never had that happen before. 10/10 recommend
google avatar

Cee Q.

Yelp
10/10 would recommend. We love the schnitzel and spatzle. We have ordered a lot of different dishes here and all of them are really good! Even have taken things to go and the food is still fresh and tasty!

Yelp
We started off with a pretzel for an appetizer. Amazing. Hubby and I had the Jageur shniztel, friends had the goulash and the traditional Schnitzel. Everyone loved their meal . Finished off the meal with the apple streudel. Service , ambiance (live musics), food everything was great. Can't recommend enough

August Z.

Yelp
I visited this place on a warm evening with my friend. The food was nice, and environment was cozy. It's just a little pricey though. If I want to eat goulash again, I may choose to cook it myself - for a much cheaper price. But for those who don't know how to make goulash, this is the place to go!

Yelp
If you are looking for an authentic taste of Austria without boarding a plane, this Austrian delight is a must visit in Pleasanton!! The Hungarian beef goulash paired with the gooey Spatzle was amazingly rich and delish!! Eric & Danae our barkeepers were so attentive and so much fun!! Blood orange cosmo!! Ask for it!! A place where you can unwind, connect, or simply disappear into a good drink and not to mention the soft subtle voice of music playing by the band!!

Yelp
We had dinner last night at Naschmarkt and it was great. Food, service and ambiance were all first rate. We got there early, about 5:15, and were seated immediately at a table for two. The dining room was nicely decorated . The restaurant is very narrow but fairly long with a long bar on one side and a row of tables down the middle and on the far side. There are also several tables outside at the entrance. Service was prompt as we were asked whether we preferred still . sparkling, or tap water. The water was supplied along with bread and butter in 2 or 3 minutes and the waiter took drink orders which arrived promptly and the waiter took our dinner orders. We both ordered the Jagger Schnitzel with Spatzle. It was excellent and very Viennese. Everything was excellent and the best Schnitzel I've had outside Austria. We chose the pork rather than the veal. This is what I call a special occasion restaurant with superior food and service at matching prices. I felt the prices were appropriate, but too much for most frequent visits. We will be back, but it will be a while.

A S.

Yelp
Great service, Great food - must try. Great ambiance. Very warm & hospitable staff. Wine selections very nice.

Yelp
Quality of food was excellent, owner and manager were very engaged and service was great. Naschmarkt will be one of our go to restaurants.

Yelp
Last night was my first time dining at this restaurant. Our group sat outside, which was quite nice! The inside of the restaurant looked nice as well. 5 out 5 stars for the ambience. This was my first time dining at a German restaurant. The food was good, however it was on the pricier side. Despite the price, I would comeback. The biggest turn off was the service. Our server was practically MIA most of the night. We were having to ask other employees for refills on our beverages and more bread. My girlfriend attempted to get another round of beer, which she never ended up receiving. Our server barely checked in on us and wasn't apologetic when we called him out on the long wait time for food and the lack of attentiveness. Not sure if he lacks the training or management gave him too many tables that night. Our tab was $300, not including the tip. For that kind of money, I expect better.

Yelp
We just finished our lunch wnd was amazing!! My salmon was perfect and the goulash was so good! I think Pleasanton as a culinary destination is really stepping it up. Try the place . Worth it!

Yelp
Food is great and authentic. Really nice interior. Great place for lunch or dinner. The staff are also very nice and the service is great. Full bar and TVs. Definitely a great option if you're up to some comfort food! Desserts are great too!

Yelp
Very nice restaurant, the food is great, the staff is friendly, would like to come here occasionally

Yelp
We decided to stroll the Main Street in Pleasanton around 6. There was couple events earlier and therefore the streets were still blocked which allowed pedestrians to leisurely enjoy the outdoor sun. We wanted to try something different and walked into Naschmarkt without reservation. Luckily, there was a table available. Waiter appeared shortly. We ordered Austrian Maultier, beer and homemade pretzel which came with cheese sauce with bacon bits. For entrées, we had Hungarian beef Goulash and grilled sturgeon. It took a while for the foods to arrive but they were well seasoned and delicious. We finished all the food and had no room for dessert.

Yelp
Great restaurant! We spent half our time thinking about what we were going to try when we come back again! Everything we had was delicious.

Yelp
I've been looking for an authentic Austrian restaurant and heard obout Naschmarkt in Campbell, but wanted something in the East Bay. Now that I've found the Pleasanton location, I'll be a regular! Vergelt's Gott!

Yelp
While the food was good, the experience left me questioning whether it was worth the price. I'm not familiar with Austrian food, so I don't know if the dishes were priced appropriately. But if you're going to charge a premium, at least provide the service that matches it. Our server seemed scattered and inattentive. It took a long time just to place our orders. While waiting, I couldn't help but notice a series of mistakes: wrong bills handed to table, to-go boxes nearly given to the wrong party, and some awkward maneuvering in between guests that felt unnecessarily intrusive. When it's finally our turn, our server tried to bring over the appetizer plates when we near finished the appetizer on the bread plate; we assumed that the extra plating wasn't coming and just dug in. As we were getting our main entrees, our server arrived with one of our dishes, only to pause, swinging it uncertainly while confirming with the owner if it should come with some peppers on the side. It might have made more sense to check with the kitchen first. In the end, the owner stepped in to bring it to our table. At the end of the dinner, he tossed the dessert menu to me while standing at the one end of the table. When we did not order desserts, he snatched the menus off our table with a bit too much haste. At one point, he raised his tone correcting a busboy in front of the guests. It was not a great look. To be fair, he did have some good moments. He introduced himself clearly and professionally, took the time to explain the specials without rushing through like some servers do, and offered his dessert recommendations. He also encouraged us to take our time when we wrapped up, mentioning to let him know if we needed boxes. I'll give him credit for these efforts. However, the small details add up. The food was enjoyable, but the service though makes me hesitate to return.

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner earlier this week and found a nice new surprise downtown. Service was great and attentive and the food was delicious. I'd come just for the pretzel and drinks alone; my husband loved the cheese! Great food and I'm sure we will be back!

Yelp
Incredible experience and the owner is the most wonderful person! The goat cheese purse salad was fantastic. The bratwurst and pretzels were so good! Also, we loved the desserts! Definitely a fantastic new addition to downtown.

Yelp
So happy that this upscale restaurant is in Pleasanton. I treated myself to dinner after a long workday and the service was exceptional! I liken the restaurant and service to that of a fine dining, white table restaurant. Where there is a main server, a helper, and another who cleans crumbs from the table between dishes. Attention to detail was extraordinary! The food is amazing!!!! I ordered *Classic Wiener Schnitzel *Homemade Pretzel with Double Smoked Bacon Beer Cheese *Apfel Strudel Dessert

Yelp
The food is very tasty. Both the Classic Wiener Schnitzel ($45) and Jager Schnitzel ($38) were excellent. The spatzle & potato salad that came along with those dishes were just so-so, and nothing we'd run back to. The Chicken Pot Pie ($40!!!) had a very cool ring-shaped presentation, and it was quite good also. Unfortunately, as was stated by another reviewer, the prices are simply too high. In looking at the menu, I'd say most of the entrees are about $10 higher than they should be (even given the atmosphere, quality, etc.), and the cocktail prices were even more ridiculous. $20 for a Manhattan is a joke. That basically means you're paying $26 for one cocktail, after tax & tip! That's a HARD NO! And this is coming from someone who is plenty familiar with paying $15-16 for specialty Manhattans at various restaurants around the country. I was initially leaning more towards a 3 star rating due to the steep prices, but went with 4 stars due to the food itself & the restaurant setting. I hope this place gets a bit more realistic with their pricing, but I unfortunately don't see that coming.

Yelp
Food was excellent and desert menu was one of the best I have seen locally. Came for lunch and enjoyed it a great deal. All the dishes we tried were great! Will be back.

Yelp
This place is definitely on the pricey side. The indoor seating is really nice--almost has a speakeasy vibe, which is a cool touch. The food wasn't bad, but nothing particularly memorable, especially considering the price point. Decent experience, but not sure it lives up to the hype.
