"Nathan’s Famous in Dyker Heights is shutting its doors after 40 years in the neighborhood, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle reports. Located at 650 86th St., two blocks away from the Gowanus Expressway, the iconic hot dog shop will live on in the memories of local diners, many of whom showed up this week to bid the restaurant farewell. Resident Dario Veloso, now 53, says he’s been dining at the hot dog parlor since he was 12. The restaurant sold its 20,000-square-foot building plus the land it sits on for about $12 million last year, according to the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. It’s unclear what will replace it. The original Coney Island store remains open, along with dozens of other concession stands and shops in NYC." - Carla Vianna

A friend took me there. Wasn't looking forward to it cause I thought Nathan's was just hotdogs. But I ordered a Philly cheese steak and was surprised how well prepared and delicious it was. The fries I ordered were really dense and filling, not light and airy. And the oreo ice cream shake, though very sweet, was a real treat to down after eating that onion with peppers cheese steak. The employees were very friendly and attentive. I don't remember what I paid, but I don't care. The food was great and the service was good. Hope I have the same experience when I go back next time.

Love this location, though management was playing Christian pop (really) during the holidays. Well, at least they seemed to have stopped that now! I mean, I wouldn't want to hear "Muslim rock" or whatever, neither. Too bad the prices remain exorbitant. Ample parking, though, plus a convenient location, and restrooms, too. Spacious, well-ordered lines, good workers.

This one is quiet and i really love the cheese fries but the menu combos are a little overpriced compared to other fast food chains. I really like the food though they have a special on Thursdays 5c a hot dog from 5pm to closing. They have someone bringing the food to you now.

Delicious food, way better than the original location at Conley island. Prices are a little high but it is sit down service and you don't have to tip so I think it is fair. There's also a parking lot that is free which is rare for the area and the staff is always extremely friendly.

Good quality and friendly staff. I can’t really complain. The reason it gets four stars is that nothing is ever perfect. But if I had to list some improvements, they may need to look into fixing up their drive through speaker system. Sometimes it’s hard to understand the staff members and it’s hard for them to understand you. They haven’t messed up an order yet for me though despite that. And it really isn’t the fault of the staff as they do what they can.

I had the 2 hotdog chili cheese fries! Delicious!!! And the customer service was even better. We were treated like everyday, long time customers on our first visit. And they served us at our table. My new favorite Nathan's loc.!!!!!!!
