One of the most pleasant outdoor spots in Rome, Necci really hits the spot for its charming atmosphere at lunch or early evening.
It's an institution in Pigneto, being one of the old guard - one of the first places to open in this area's renaissance. Its leafy terrace attracts an interesting crowd, and its quite an oasis in the heart of built-up Pigneto.
The staff are friendly and the menu changes quite regularly. On my most recent visit, for a Monday lunch, I sat outside, with the waiters more than happy to adjust the electric canopy to keep us in the shade. The bread was varied and excellent. The seats were pretty uncomfortable.
I ordered a spaghettoni with anchovies, butter and peppers. It was very buttery with big chunks of pepper, but I couldn't taste the anchovy. Filling, acceptable, but nothing special. This place is ideal for a drink but on my recent visit, I can't say that the food is outstanding.
