Needham House of Pizza

In my years in this country, I've never tasted such a delicious pizza. The texture and cooking time are perfect. In addition to the excellent flavor of the pizza, the staff is friendly, and the space to enjoy it is clean and quiet.

One of the worst pizzas I've had. This is NOT Detroit style pizza. The right side of the pizza had the burnt edges. The left side... look at the pictures. Sauce looks like they tossed it on there with no finesse. The pizza is super thin. Pizza was floppy towards the middle because it was so thin and so much sauce. Ordered a slice of pizza and that wasn't any better. I should've asked for my money back instead of giving away the pizza to a homeless person.

Just ate half of Arties wrap and I was compelled to write a review to share how good it is! I ordered over the phone for pickup and got an Arties special wrap with ketchup and mayo. It’s steak tips, American cheese and French fries in a wrap. The website recommended I add ketchup and mayo so I did. Sooo good! I want to eat more it is just very filling! Caution this is neither low calorie or low sodium. Tastes excellent tho 😁

We just stopped by for quick lunch me and my husband, he got a steak bomb and I got the chicken Gordon blue sub, both came over cooked and tasting terrible, I was really disappointed if seeing my husband spending over $30 with the drink and a slice of pizza, we’re definitely not coming back.

This is the best place for the food!!! My friend leaves here and it’s far from my place, but I always stopped here after I’m visiting my friend and never disappointed!

Pizza is super tasty and crunchy. I had pepperoni with decent amount of pepperoni and not greasy at all. Coupla tables for dine in. Friendly staff. Will come back!

Mostly take-out orders, but they do have table service. We’d heard about the Detroit style pizza and it did not disappoint! Highly recommended. It’s not on the wall menu though, so just ask for it.

During inflation; they are working to keep prices reasonable. Ziti and meatballs 10.50 Small cheese pizza 8.75. Meatball were very fresh and good tasting.. next time I'll order a meatball sub. Cheese pizza was good as always ... Used to ride my bike there in 1967 to pick up roast beef grinders as called then toasted with provolone, cooked green peppers for our family of 7. Called in order on same phone number in my head.... 444-1139... didn't use area codes then .

I don't even know where to start, hands down worst pizza place ive ever gone too. I ordered a Cesar salad which looked great at first but given about half a cup of dressing for the entire salad making it incredibly dry. Then I ordered a roast beef three way hoping they would give me a normal beef like every other sub shop. I was given a grey beef on a sub roll not even a bun. No sauce and globs of mayo on top Of it. Over all worst experience I've ever had at a sub shop and plan on no return . I recommend not visiting

Great little pizza place. Their Buffalo chicken pizza is loaded with flavor with a wonderful balance of the ingredients. There is just enough Buffalo to flavor the pizza but not overpower the rest of the slice. The cheese pizza is a great cheese pizza-you really can't go wrong. Delivery service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend. As always-we will be back!

Had their Detroit style pizza - so good! Not many places offer it so it was a rare find. We were all very pleased by it. Would order again!

I drive for work all over New England and eat pizza with decent reviews all the time. Honestly I don't know why they have decent reviews the pizza is nothing special and maybe a 6.7 at best. I'd try another place in town like I plan on doing next time or give it a shot but don't expect anything but your ordinary pizza

The steak bomb sub was to die for everything was so delicious. My Greek wrap was full of vegetables and feta cheese absolutely amazing..

The entire order was wrong and the food we got was horrible! Won't ever use them again!

The staff was friendly and the pizza was great. The owner introduced himself as he was working the shop with his staff. I will be back to try the subs!

A Needham institution! Consistently good food, satisfying portions, always reasonably priced. Artie and his crew are great. Lots of good vegetarian options including falafel. It would be cool if they added some tofu options for the sandwiches.

My family and I stopped here for a quick bite to eat as a pit stop to a road trip and boy, were we happy we did! The quality was top notch! We got a tuna wrap, Italian sub, and a chicken salad wrap. The portions were huge and we each had half of our sandwiches leftover. Would definitely stop here again!

I have so much to say but I don't even know where to begin I am just so angry right now. I have never been treated so POORLY as I was last night by Needham Houes of pizza. I will NEVER order or RECOMMEND them ever again.... Stuff service and ever thing else that follows is poor! Over 40 years in business... How?! Called stuff and was hung up on twice! And don't get me started on how Louis (if that is even his real name) the "delivery driver" started yelling at me on the phone because he's lost. I then called back and asked to speak to a Manager/owner. Guess what! The manager refused to speak to me, the owner's sister in law (Jennifer) referred me to his email to complain... What?! Is this how you do your customer? Great customer service experience! Nice to see they value my business!! 3/13/19 **UPDATE RESPOND TO OWNER** Sorry I missed your call, umm.. I only missed ONE phone call (Monday @ 7:53pm) from a "blocked unknown" number and was left a voicemail. I couldn't heard a word in the voice message due to poor connection your phone was breaking up. Let me attempt to make this clear ONE MORE TIME. I didn't hang up on your "delivery driver" or on your "sister-in-law". For someone to just hang up in MY FACE TWICE in the mist of a conversation, it's like a spit in the face. I don't tolerate disrespect on any level. I treat people how they treat me. I would never be rude to people who prepare my food. And it's hard for me to believe with your stuff "years of experience in the food service" your so called manager (sister-in-law) from what she told me over the phone. Would think it would be appropriate to hand the phone to your "delivery driver" to speak to me after a "confrontational situation" like that. That makes NO SENSE AT ALL. For any potential customer reading this.... I hardly complain about where to go out to eat and I'm usually the person who says anything is okay and I don't write bad yelp reviews because I don't like messing w/people's financial situation but this place really ruined my night. Oh by the way, NO I DIDN'T GET MY REFUND BACK and don't worry I did not touch my food.

Being an Elite Yelp writer and a foodie means that when someone asks me to bring pizza to their house for dinner I'm not just going to go anywhere. I'm going to look it up on Yelp, and find the highest rated spot nearby. The people were very friendly, easy going, and professional. My order was ready quickly and on time (believe me you can't underestimate that- I've ordered pizzas for events and sat around waiting for up to 30 or 40 minutes) so I really appreciated this timeliness, best of all the kids loved it! When I got to the gathering, I was talking with a Needham resident & when he asked me where I got the pizza, he said he's often used them for huge events of 300 people and they've been great. I would definitely use them again! PS I should mention we ordered plain pizzas ( that's what the kids wanted) so I can't give input re: pizzas with toppings in this review.

I've ordered twice from here in the past month. I ordered the "buffalo tenders" and it was literally a pile of ground-up chicken bits drenched in sauce. I then ordered a chicken parm pasta dish, and again the chicken was ground up into little and nearly inedible bits. The chicken tasted like it had been sitting around all day. Disgusting. Won't be coming back here.

Nice shop, friendly staff and good slice of pizza. I'm from NY, and I love my pizza- so I can say that this place does a nice job. Check them out if you are ever in Needham.

The quintessential small town pizza joint. Pizza. Salads. Subs. Fries. Ice cream. Friendly service. Reasonable prices. Large menu. What more can you ask for. The small pizza is the perfect size for one. I love their Greek salad with chicken! Always fresh and tasty.

My family has been buying pizza from Needham House since our kids were young, over 40 years ago! It's amazing that this many years later we old folks can enjoy the same quality and service we had then. So, when we're in the mood for Greek style pizza, or my husband's fave, Dad's Meatball Sub, we easily dial them up as their phone number has been etched in our brains for that long! I liked them so much that I even made the workers face masks at the start of the pandemic! I am an almost nightly our salad maker at home, and NHP is the ONLY pizza place from which I will confidently order a take out salad. Their Greek salad is made with the freshest, washed, romaine lettuce and we totally appreciate the effort that goes into making that rather than tossing "pre washed" greens from a bag in the container. Their salad dressing has changed a bit over the years...all are good, tho my fave was the one from back in the early days. Recently we've been ordering BLTs, which are delicious, tho a bit unwieldy, rolled in a large pita bread...maybe tucked in a smaller pocket would be easier to handle? All in all, we have been very happy with NHP, for so many years, and will even be ordering a few pizzas for our granddaughter's small family party this weekend! Glad we still have you in Needham for tasty Greek pizza and beyond!

$4 small pizzas? Really. In a town like Needham? Really. Surprisingly, both of the answers to both of the above questions are YES. Besides parking (which isn't THAT bad), there isn't ANYTHING bad about this place. And EVERYTHING is amazing. Great prices? Check Great food? Check Great, extensive menu? Check Friendly, helpful staff? Check Cool technology*? Check Modern interior design? Check Inviting location & storefront? Check All in all, it's clear this is an amazing place to go. I was so impressed with the technology. iPads that are used for purchases, including signatures and printing receipts. The interior of the restaurant is also very modern, large, and happy. Plus, with $4 (small) and $7 (large) pizzas, there's NO way it will be long until I make the trip back. Parking can be tough at certain times of the day, so you have to try to find an open spot along Great Plain Avenue or Pickering Street. 5 stars.

We've gotten takeout from here twice (and had it at a friend's son's birthday party) and every time, we've been completely satisfied. It's not the most amazing pizza, but it's hot, tasty and consistent. It's a bit greasy, but you don't come here for gourmet pizza - it's good, greasy takeout and you always know you're going to get tasty pizza. I also love that they do curbside takeout - perfect for families!

Ordered pickup from them for the first time. The process was done appropriately and relatively efficiently (maybe could use a little improvement for coordinating the curbside pickup- Sweet Basil Next Door was really doing an awesome job at that!). Really didn't like the pizza too much, it was too greasy for my taste. But the meatball and sausage sub combo was very tasty. Thanks for trying to keep people fed during this difficult time!

Best pizza in town!! The owner is hands on and really cares about their customers. Buffalo chicken is one of my all-time favorites! Go check them out.

Ordered a large veggie pizza my first time. Was pleasantly surprised by the variety of delicious vegetables. Soft pan crust made this the perfect pie. Will visit again! Great local business!

This place is a lot better than the other sandwich place down the street. The Pastrami was sooo good! I suggest everyone try it (with everything). You wont be sorry! It's just delicious. The customer service was good, but it did take awhile for them to make 2 subs about 10-13 minutes. It's ok though coz it was totally worth it at the end. Keep up the good work guys!

I gave them a 1-star rating; however, if I could give this place 0 stars, I would. My friends and I ordered pizza for the Super Bowl at 1 pm so they could deliver it to us at 6:30 pm. We live on a college campus and gave them the exact location of the building we were in. The delivery guy came to the site and was confused about where to walk in, and instead of calling us to let us know he was outside, he decided to leave. We had reached out, and they responded to us saying that the order was out for delivery. Yet, after an hour and a half of waiting, we decided to call again, and we found out the situation and became frustrated. By the time the pizza got to us, it was completely cold, and when we talked to the delivery guy, he said, "Ya, I get it, I really don't care if you don't pay." Later, we got a call from the manager trying to convince us that they did call us to let us know that the pizza was outside and guilt trip us to pay the full service. The manager was utterly unprofessional and was yelling through the phone, disrespectfully trying to guilt-trip us into paying the total price. I was in absolute shock with the customer service. If the manager acts this way, I cannot expect much for the rest of the company. Never ordering from this place again, and I hope you all don't either.

Found a hair in my pizza that was set in front of the cash register where every customer could spit on. Returned it, no apologies or anything just received a new slice. On the flip side, I ordered a sub and it was solid. Good food, bad service.

I get a chicken cesar wrap almost every Saturday because it's convenient. I have been noticing though they are not consistent with there lettuce. Cesar salads are made with romaine not iceberg. My wrap half the time has romaine and the other half has ice berg. My wrap today also had some bones in it still attached to the chicken . I ask phage to add for a Greek owned restaurant there Greek salad is awful. No red onions very little feta and no greek dressing!

We were in a bind the night before a big party and our caterer called us to cancel. At 5pm on Saturday night, peak rush, Artie at Needham HoP took my call and set us up with a huge catering order for the next morning. Pizzas, salads, chicken, everything. Saved our 2 year old's birthday party! Everything was on time and fantastic. Our new go-to spot.

The meatball was not edible, it's like the liver of something caged up all life. The container was leaking sauce all over.

Won't go back here again. Tried to call in an order yesterday, got put on hold, and then I waited about 6 or 7 minutes with no response. I could here the employee taking an order (which is fine) but then I heard it completed, and then heard another few minutes of him talking to co-workers. Gave them another try today, got 2 large Italian subs. The subs have 3 slices of deli meat, and one slice of cheese - close to $20 with 2 drinks. I'm all set

I get pizzas from here like once/two in a month. Ive been to all the pizza shops in Needham. I like here the most because they come Correct most of the time. I hate burnt backside. They never burn the back side. It's Very clean. And, the taste is also correct to my taste bud. All this tells me that chefs here care about what they make. There is nothing more to improve as far as their cheese pizza goes. But, they need cans of Sprite, coke, and coke instead of plastic bottles. Can we all agree we like beers and sprite taste better when It's in a can? And, I wish they were really cold. Anyways, if you want cheese pizza, don't look further, this place is the place to go in needham.

I stopped in for lunch about a month ago and had the grilled Ruben. Very tasty for a quick sandwich. FF were good, not great, but good enough. Staff was very polite. For a quick sandwich, it's a good spot.

Good food and great staff. I work in Needham and have become somewhat of a regular. I have lunch there about 2 or 3 times a month. Now that they recognize me, they occasionally give me a free slice of pizza or coke - which is very nice of them.

I love their onion rings!! Their hawaiian pizza is absolutely delicious. However, I was quite disappointed in their salads. I had my co-worker buy me a salad once and their salad dressing was so sour that I could barely even swallow it. Wayyy toooo sourrr. It looked like italian dressing or something similar to that but hence, why my review is only 4 stars. But nonetheless, if I am ever hungry I do tend to come here as it is convenient and they are quick here.

Needham House of Pizza -- fantastic pizza. The "Detroit style" was fabulous. The sauce and meatballs were homemade; much better than the "average" pizza shop. Friendly service and the owner is a gem.

Needham House of Pizza is an amazing place to get takeout from or go to in a small party due to a lack of space/seating. The pizza and chicken nuggets are good and the prices are fair. For anyone who is interested there is no free wi-fi.

I was looking for a quick place for lunch after going into Jimmy's Tailor on Washington St. in Needham so I ran into the Needham House of Pizza. $4 for a small pizza! Sign me up. Cost notwithstanding, were were the pros and cons of the pie: Limited cheese coverage, didn't make it to the edge of the crust. Sauce was a little too sweet. Good crispy crust; however it was a little tough. Decent classic parlor pie. I don't think it would hold up as a carry out but pizza is always best when eaten "in house". Order here all the time. Good consistent food. The Burritos are Great! I prefer the chicken burrito with everything on it they offer. You won't be disappointed

Had a great sausage and meatball sub. Great, friendly service. Would def come back to try more. And tho yelp is trying to convince me to write more all I really did was have a good sub and bottled soda so there's not much to add to that. Stop browbeating me, Yelp

Best burrito!!! This unassuming little pizza place made me a great burrito-- lots of chicken and veggies, light on rice, no cheese or sour cream (allergic). Perfect balance with jalapeño peppers and hot sauce. Yum!!!

I just finished an amazing Greek salad with grilled chicken in a whole wheat wrap. It was so full of flavor, I can't recommend it enough. The chicken was delicious and plentiful and there were sliced tomatoes, olives, diced cucumbers, hot peppers, and feta. The secret must be in the dressing. Yum!

Hands down the best pizza joint in the area. They use all fresh ingredients and make their dough from scratch every day. My go-to is the Italian or pastrami sub - steak tips are also solid. Definitely stop by if you are in the area.

This is the best pizza in Needham by far! I could not recommend their food any higher. The pizza, subs, and salads are all delicious. You are missing out if you don't stop by Needham House of Pizza while in Needham!
