"The Gowanus location of Nene’s Taqueria makes some of our favorite tacos in the neighborhood, and their stall in the stadium brings their tender birria to Barclays. There's no consommé, but for $13, you'll receive two toasty birria tacos with crispy-gone-soggy tortillas oozing with greasy shreds of beef. If you're looking to switch up your classic hot dog and french fries order, this is the way to do so." - willa moore, will hartman, bryan kim, neha talreja, hannah albertine
"Nene’s makes good tacos in Bushwick—and across all their locations in Astoria, Park Slope, and in The Barclays Center. But we like their burritos even more. A chewy flour tortilla neatly contains a massive amount of charred al pastor, rice, beans, guacamole, and sour cream. On Burrito Thursdays those very filling meals are just $9." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim
"The name of the game at Nene’s Deli in Bushwick (with three additional locations) is quesabirria—crispy, gooey, cheese-infiltrated tacos. As you might be able to imagine, the union of meat-soaked orange tortillas, stewy adobo beef, and caramelized cheese is one we all should be grateful for, even as you sit on a bench in Maria Hernandez Park ruining your pants with orange meat juice stains no napkin stands a chance against." - hannah albertine, nikko duren, carlo mantuano, will hartman
"The specialty at this casual Mexican deli is their crispy-gooey, cheese-filled quesabirria. Whether you want a birria burrito, quesadilla, taco, or mulita, it’ll be served along with a layer of melted cheese. The union of meat-soaked orange tortillas, stewed beef, and caramelized cheese is something we all should be grateful for." - neha talreja, bryan kim, sonal shah, willa moore
"Everyone knows the birria at Nene’s, the convenience store that transitioned into a taqueria a couple of years ago, but the al pastor and chorizo ($3.75 each) are currently the best choices, decorated with guacamole and ensconced in handmade yellow corn tortillas that are coarse and tensile. There’s not much seating inside — though you may want to stand around and watch the rollicking crew at work — but you can take tacos, tortas, sopes, quesadillas, and burritos to nearby Maria Hernandez Park. Don’t miss the chile relleno burrito ($12)." - Robert Sietsema
