"New Braunfels Brewing Company announced the release of its latest beer, called the MRTN HSE FKR, a spicy fruit punch pickle beer. They claim their original pickle beer, PKL FKR, was first brewed in 2015 in collaboration with Texas Tito's, and have since released various versions. The brewery engages in a playful rivalry with Martin House Brewing Company, who released their own Sour Pickle Beer in August 2019. Despite the competition, New Braunfels Brewing emphasizes the fun aspect and has no plans for legal action." - Amy McCarthy

Sorry, only giving it a 3. Tiny little spot with very little seating. A lot of the seating is along 12" benches, facing the walls with uncomfortable metal chairs. On the positive side, the chairs do have backs... The bar might be 6'. They have a very small outdoor space, but not very inviting. The beer selection isn't very impressive. For those of us that don't drink beer, they offered me Jaramillo in bottles (nothing like drinking pure sugar) or some canned seltzer water. Not even enough space to put out water and cups. If you couldn't tell by my review, I probably won't be going back. I'll leave the few seats for the locals to enjoy.

It's really great beer! We drove here from Kerrville, and it was very worth the drive. The beer options were great and complex. There are plenty of options to fill any taste that you may have. The service was really good and the atmosphere was great. A really cool brewery, if you like solid micro brews this is a spot to check out.

I wish my words could express just how great this place truly is. You can tell the passion for people and beer is prevalent with your first "hello" and sip of any of the craft brews. The variety offers something for everyone. Flights available to sample what they have on tap or have a full glass of what you know you'll like. Be sure to check out the Local Libation section for unbelievable tasting creations. We already can't wait to come back to continue to work our way through the menu and see what new creations they serve up. The beer speaks for itself and is offered in bottles and cans to take home and share with friends and family. What will keep us coming back more than anything is how evident the owner and their crew's passion is for making customers happy. I love how they try new things and look for ways to improve their already good beer. Clean establishment with AC inside or soak up some sum outside. Thank you for keeping the cold beer pouring and most of all, pouring out sunshine with your passion and smiles! Looking forward to all our future visits!

Google
A refreshing respite in downtown NB! 14 beers on draft with a wide selection of styles and flavors, 5 varieties in six-packs to go, get ya a gr/crowler. West Coast IPA has nice hops forward, not afraid to be an IPA. Tropic of Hopricorn (hazy) was a little too much for me to call a hazy, little more IPA, but still very drinkable. Friendly, knowledgeable staff; chill vibe; one block off the main street (San Antonio St actually) retail crowds. Take a welcome detour to relax or get this spending fluids flowing at NBBCo.

Google
Last night was very typical of each visit at NBBC. The bartenders are not only an expert regarding their brews, but they also know alot about the area. The beers are very tasty and the brewery has a nice variety. Everything my wife and I visit NBBC, we find that we meet the friendliest people.

Google
Wanted to find an awesome brewery, I found an amazing one. The brews on tap were amazing. The bartender knew what he was talking about, very knowledgeable about the brews and helped pick out some great tasting brews. The atmosphere was awesome, definitely will be going back.

Google
In New Braunfels for the weekend. Buddy said I should check th out. Stopped in after dinner. Place looks small on the outside, but it's got plenty of room. Michael was pouring tonight. I did a flight of beers. Missed the hazy (they were brewing a new batch) Michael was very knowledgeable about craft beer. Favorite pour of the night was a Pecan beer that is not on the menu. 3.8% alcohol, but packed with flavor. Definitely could sit in the hammock or lounge chair and drink it all day Light and crisp. Great brewery with quality staff. Hope to come back soon.

Google
My wife and I love coming out to visit this long standing brewery in New Braunfels. They have changed hands and as always when a favorite place changes hands you are nervous about it. I am very pleased to say the new ownership have been nothing but a positive effect though we do miss the old brewer and owner. They have improved the inside space and they have greatly expanded the beers from what was mostly sours to a ton of excellent more standard beers. The new brewer makes very good examples of a wide range of different beers. They are still serving our favorite pickle beer the previous brewer was famous for. I hope they keep that one but I am enjoying each visit to see what new beer they have on tap. The tap room is very intimate and you can always expect to meet new friends every time you visit. They are also still very dog friendly. If you have not stopped in I would highly recommend to make it a must stop when you are in the area.

Yelp
I loved the layout and I tried the cherry wheat the aftertaste tasted like cough syrup so I got offered Irish red and it was so delicious I loved it The music is great and the place is so laid back and relaxed and the bartender was amazing so sweet and awesome Please come here it's so worth it

Dalv C.

Yelp
Stopped here for a post-diner aperitif! A night cap, if you will. Had a few sample beers: 1) JefaWeixen 2) Pecan Proper 3) Bickering Bothers IPA 4) NEW Braunfels Blond 5) Das Lokal - A sour beer...rich in color - dark red. Very sour and delicious! 6) Pickle Sour Service was great! Host (bar tender) was very friendly and offer me to try any samples I wanted. Ambiance, was that of a small brewery. Love it! You don't come here for food. You come here for excellent beer! All beers tasted very fresh! Loved it! A MUST STOP AT when visiting New Braunfels!!! Cheers!

Kristin L.

Yelp
The grounds and different areas were great. Lots of different options and the drinks and food were really yummy.

Katie N.

Yelp
I always love this place! High quality beer and a good selection of different styles of beer. I need to make it out for their German style beers that they have for Oktoberfest and Wurstfest.

Bethany F.

Yelp
Interesting brews. My buddy and I both got a flight so we tried almost everything that was on the board. These seem to all be Scottish takes on whatever style is listed in the description. They were all good, just not as expected. Be ready for an adventure and give them a shot! Tap-tender was cool. It was not too crazy crowded on a summer midday Saturday.

Karla D.

Yelp
Cute little brewery with good pours. Beer is comparable to many breweries I've visited around the country. Definitely worth a visit if in the area.

Meagan S.

Yelp
Visited for the first time while in town and loved it would def go back! I don't remember the beer I got but the few we sampled were great. Service was great very friendly and the establishment overall looked clean and laid back. Inside seating and outdoor seating area. 10/10

Clarissa A.

Yelp
The beer was average but the atmosphere was a little too mellow. The indoor area was very quiet and there didn't seem like there was much community.

Ally H.

Yelp
Beer was just alright. Back patio was perfect on a nice day. The staff was a bit sassy, but not rude. I just wish this place had a bit more to it. I doubt I would go back.

Chen-Tai H.

Yelp
small cozy and dog friendly brewery. The beer is comparable to many other breweries. worth stopping by if you travel to New Braunfels

Steve D.

Yelp
Stopped in tonight. Ended up spending the evening with Mike the beer tender. Very knowledgeable about different types of beers. Did a flight and a few more. Unfortunately for me the hazybis not ready until next week. Favorite beer was the Pecan be E. Not on the menu. Easy, light, flavourful. 3.8% alcohol. I could drink this all day. Great eat for a hot summer day. Great beers and people here at the New Braunfels brewing. Hope to come back soon.

Daniel D.

Yelp
This is a scam business front. I researched this business after it charged my bank account day over day for charges I did not authorize. They are tied to a transaction I made with a completely different company name that had nothing to do with a brewery. I attempted to call the number listed and it is disconnected. There is no other means of contact. They took withdrew $178 from my checking account. SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM. I have reported this web-site to the FTC and have formally request Yelp to do the same.

Kim S.

Yelp
Nice selection of brews. Pleasant indoor and new outdoor seating. Owners and staff are welcoming and friendly. Located next to a toy store owned by a grumpy woman.

Terrr E.

Yelp
I had wonderful visit. The bartender today was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. He helped make the visit fun. I had the Piper Down Stout, and the Scottish Import, but excellent beers. If you are in New Braunfels stop by. It is well worth the visit.

Dustin T.

Yelp
Pretty neat little brewery that features sour beers. There isn't any indoor seating so it could be miserable on a hot day. Fortunately we visited in January and the weather was great. The beers are pretty good. I would make a return trip.

Brent L.

Yelp
Pretty decent establishment with a good variety of beers. But as someone else mentioned, they specialize in sours. They did have one Heffe when I was here today, but they said they are discontinuing it and only going to offer sours. Sours are really not my taste, but to each his or her own. I sampled a couple of the sours and they were ok, but again, just not my cup of tea, so I won't judge them on that. Staff was very friendly, very knowledgeable about the different beer selections. The clientele that we hung out with and spoke with were also very friendly and cool. Bar area was kind of small but there is also a bit of seating back in the brewing area. And yes, they do offer flights.

Anthony C.

Yelp
We stopped by here because our friends live here in town. We are from a micro brew and wine Mecca. And we were throughly impressed with all of the brews here!!! We tried all 8 beers they had on tap at the time of our visit! The blond one and Orono were some of our favs. But the pklfkr was different and good. I also really loved their shivas tears. In all I was throughly impressed. I would HIGHLY recommend this place!!!!!!

Megan B.

Yelp
Everything was amazing and they took amazing care of us with our geriatric fur baby! Very good convos.

Terry E.

Yelp
Nice place to go to enjoy good craft beers. I had The Piper is Down Imperial Stout. I really liked this beer. The bartender today was awesome. He was friendly and knowledgeable. he made my visit more enjoyable. I highly recommend this establishment if you're in New Braunfels.

Mike S.

Yelp
Fantastic craft beer. Service is great. Check it out and chill outside for a while. It's awesome!

Yelp
best brewery in town new in town have met nothing but good people

Grix P.

Yelp
Dear city of New Braunfels: I hope you understand what you have here. New Braunfels brewing Co is in my opinion, one of the best breweries of Texas, definitely the best when it comes to sours (in my humble opinion). I am gonna go ahead and sound like a pretentious douche, but my husband and I are huge fans of sours, and we have been to over 60 breweries around the country. This one is absolutely a keeper. The brewery is ran by a family that lives in town, they do everything from cutting the fruit that goes into their beer, to brewing and marketing, so don't expect fanciness, a very small group of people runs the entire show. They are usually very good about updating their menu on facebook. Remember, this brewery specializes in sours, you will not find the regular styles like Lagers, IPAs and Stouts and such. If you are looking for anything other than sours, please skip it instead of giving it a bad review. The tap room may be tiny, but it's packed with awesomeness and flavor. The staff is super nice and knowledgeable, and they are always ready to help you and tell you all you need to know about sour beer. This brewery is not a place to hang out for a long time with your friends, but more of a place for doing a quick tasting and take some bottles home. This is absolutely not a good place for large groups. I recommend that you buy a flight, which is $8 for 4 small pours, that way you can taste different things. If you want to commit to just one, the prices are very reasonable. My favorites are Saison de Nefle, Hell yeah! and PKL FKR. We like their stuff so much that we bought a membership to their club, which is totally worth it.

Ruby L.

Yelp
I really liked this spot. It's small and cozy. It was super early when we went. They literally were opening their doors as we rolled in. We stayed for a good hour. The service was good. I see a lot of people complaining about their sours lol. That's literally all the serve! It is a brewery that specializes in sour beer. I personally like sours and ciders so for me it was great, but If you prefer IPAs then this might not be the spot for you.

Krysmrtn M.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this gem waking around New Braunfels. What a great place to visit! The beer was great and the customer service was exceptional. Thank you Michael for a great Sunday! I highly recommend this place! So charming.

Ashley M.

Yelp
The different flavors of beer were each delicious in their own way and the cashier was helpful and kind.

Itsabout T.

Yelp
Wheats and sours, that's it. Two beers I never drink but NB Brewery specializes in them. A small store front brewery in the heart of historic downtown. Very friendly staff were quite informative. Only the second time I have tried a sour, first time at Jester King and I did not like. They gave me a free taste and off I went. We quite liked the sours actually better than some of the wheats. We tasted 5 of the 8 taps and liked all but one. The sours are like a double fermented beer inoculated with live bacteria and can be quite puckering. Some are barrel aged up to a year. If you're in town I highly recommend stopping in. You can even wander around the small brewery on your own. Oh btw, they will pour you a cup to go. New Braunfels allows open containers, drink up!

Caitlyn S.

Yelp
We definitely hadn't planned to stop by New Braunfels Brewing Co on our last brewery tour, but while we were at Faust Brewing, the bartender let us know they were having an anniversary party. We decided to stop by and see what they had to offer. It turned out that most of their beers leaned toward the sour end. Sours aren't necessarily my favorite, but I was intrigued by the pickle beer. (Not a fan.) However, they had some dark sours that were actually delicious! This was our third brewery of the day...so that may have influenced my taste buds, but no matter...I still enjoyed them. And the anniversary party was hopping and it seemed like a lot of people love this place. We'd like to go back and check them out on a non-party day, just to see what they've got. Definitely on our list of places to go again!

Frances M.

Yelp
Sour sour sour. This is place to go when you are not a wimp and willing to try some fantastic beer. Expect sour. Don't come here and taste the beer and make a fuss because you don't like sour beer. My favorite is PKLFKR. YUP. Pickles.

Anita C.

Yelp
People make or break a business and Stuart and Carlos are the friendly faces that are very knowledgeable. Their specialties are sour beers and worth the try. You can't go wrong with a flight. Great location next to Got Toys. Make them part of your weekend downtown NB adventures.

Ibrahim S.

Yelp
everything is sour.. please think twice before you get anything we got 2 flight ,it makes 8 different kind of beer everything was sour

J B.

Yelp
They are now offering non-sour beer that are all amazing! And they've extended their seating area. It's under new ownership.

Mike M.

Yelp
Do not do business with this company - I have no idea about their product but I leased them a piece of equipment and have had collection problems - severe - lied to me - STAY AWAY

Chiqui B.

Yelp
We had an accidental run in with this brewery. We happened to spot it as we were getting out of our vehicle on our way to another place. The open sign was calling us, and for it being past 8:00, finding a brewery open that late is unique. The tasting room is fairly small with a few bar stools and a bench in the brewing room. They invited me to go in the brew room to take pictures. These brewers are some of the nicest we've met so far. Great company and conversation. They even recommended some other local businesses, which I now have bookmarked. The beer: they specialize in wheat beer. That's not typically the style of beer I enjoy, but I did find one called the "Hot Child"- a cucumber and jalapeño infused beer. We only had time to have one beer as their tasting room closes at 9:00. Currently their tasting room is open Thursday-Friday 5-9pm. I hope to see these guys at Wurstfest someday.

Amie W.

Yelp
This place is a must have for all craft beer lovers. There is a very diverse beer menu and a beer for even the pickiest of beer drinkers. Every beer is so flavorful and unique and the staff is very knowledgeable on them all. The new owners are great and I will definitely be back.

Bobby N.

Yelp
While in NB I stopped in this family-run brewery and was greeted with a wonderful little tasting at the expertise of Michael (bartender/brewer) and Jackie (owner). Their knowledge of beer was as refreshing as the cold ones they served me. Great spot and great people!

Dallas P.

Yelp
I like their beers, even the PKL FKR, but I'm not a fan of sours. This tasting room is small, no food, but the location is good.

Lindsey C.

Yelp
I was sooo excited to taste these guys beer. Thier website promised some adventure in a cup. Ummmm DISAPPOINTED, is all I can say. 1. They don't change the website, but to quote the guy pouring, "nothing in life is a sure thing". I'm pretty sure the "on tap now" list is supposed to be a sure thing. Thanks for not only being a Dick, but for wasting my time. 2. All of the beer follows the ode if a little spice is perfect the whole bottle must make it better. Not good. I tried 6 of the 8 beers hoping for one I could finish. NOPE First clue I should have just turned around was the bartender asking me if I was hungover. (Nope, but thanks for telling me I look like s°~× before saying welcome to our brewery) NEVER AGAIN

Marjorie C.

Yelp
Laid back brewing place. Small bar inside but you can walk through the brewery and they have picnic tables in the back. You can order a flight of beers. They have variety of sour beers on tap. I really like their hefeweizen which is smooth and easy on the palate.

Drew P.

Yelp
We were just looking for a beer, but I love sours so it was a nice surprise that they specialize in sour beers. I had the Jose rosé gose after sampling a couple of others. Nothing was extremely sour, so this might be a good starting point for someone new to sour beers. Very knowledgeable, friendly staff.

Lucas E.

Yelp
Sweet little brewery tucked into the downtown brewery. Really enthusiastic and knowledgable staff! They can tell you all about their brewery and their beer. Really small inside area, but a nice little beer garden out back. No food. Also, importantly, if you don't like sour beers - I wouldn't make the trip. That is what they specialize in, and every beer on tap is some form of sour except one.

Kurtis V.

Yelp
One staff member was awesome and pointed me to some of the best beers I've had AT OTHER BREWERIES! The other staff member kept interrupting us with irrelevant stories about himself. It was very annoying. The beers were terrible. All had zero taste because all 8 on tap were incredibly sour. Zero diversity at all

Ellen E.

Yelp
This place was decorated really well and had a cool vibe. The inside area is small, the workers were really friendly. This place was mostly sours, but they had a good hefeweizen. I happen to like berlinerweiss' and the OLV FKD was delicious. The others weren't really my type of beer I like, but was a good setting to get a flight and try something new.

Chris P.

Yelp
If you love sours, this place is for you. Six solid choices but #1 (Blondine) and # 6 (Fyre Dancer) were our favorites. Small inside but outdoor patio available. Did notice very clean bathrooms and Danielle was very friendly. Recommended...

Linday C.

Yelp
Baby Brewery of Quality and Delight I'd like to say this is the perfect dive to spend some great relaxy escape time because this place has all the perfect elements of a comforting dive bar (cozy, welcoming, quaint nice and easy and fun as hell) but is decked out very nice and pretty so I'd call this a Posh Dive Bar Brewery. Yes 5stars of delicious suds. All top notch quality. Impress your friends or woo some opposite sex by taking them here for good times! All the beers I tasted I would buy in a store.

Katie B.

Yelp
We had a great time here before dinner and a concert at Gruene Hall. The 2 guys working were friendly and informative. We got 2 flights so we could try all 8 beers on tap. Great variety and some really unique ones (mexican something or the other, brewed with lime, absolutely amazing). We enjoyed the sample flights and bought two beers to take home. The kicker is, I hate beer. I detest it. I found this place online and decided to basically be a cool wife and do this with my husband. And I ended up loving most of the samples. If you like beer and you're in New Braunfels, you have to stop here and have a drink!

Mark G.

Yelp
Great for Saturday afternoon. Had El Despobladoband I really like it. Not for the faint of heart. The Shivas Tears was mellow and smooth. Definitely will grab a growler of Himmelweiss - a Vanilla wheat beer my wife loves.

Franklin C.

Yelp
I rarely write reviews. For this place in making an exception. It's rare to go to a place with such unique, often incredibly delicious beers. It's hard to find great American wheat beers, but they're here. It's hard to find great American sours, but they're also here. The staff is friendly, gregarious and informative, and every one of those beers is worth trying, even if you end up hating one or two. Phenomenal: Self Medication (sour red wine/bourbon barrel age!) Saison de Peche Saison de Lenoir Les Fleurs de Mal Very good: Uber All the wheats Wicked fuel (like alcoholic nitro coffee. Kind of amazing) Insane: Pkl Fkr (tastes like pickle brine. Seriously. And I couldn't stop drinking it) They have new things rotating through pretty regularly. You may not like everything, but if you're into sours or wheats, you may find something that blows your mind.

Crystal M.

Yelp
This is your hangout if you enjoy sours. While it's not my absolute favorite type of beer, I did particularly enjoy ZRO FKS GVN, which is a spicier version of PKL FKR (also good). You can try 4 beers on tap for $8, can't beat that!

Chris H.

Yelp
A little small, but great beers. Location is great, if you want to have a litter brew and walk about downtown.
