The orange chicken was good, everything else that me or my friends tasted was below average

Love this place! It’s a go to for me as a local college student. The tofu is great and they’re very friendly. If there were a tofu lunch special I would change my rating to 5 stars as there is zero vegetarian options for specials. Recommend!

Google
The food was ok, but not great. We ordered delivery through a third party app. The vegetable fried rice was tasteless, the dumplings were missing from the order, and the fried banana was way to dry to eat by itself. The General Tso’s tofu was good.

I’ve had a lot of Chinese food in my life but this one WAS DIFFERENT!!! 🔥🔥🔥 besides the crab ragoons everything was good to me ! Rice was Latino styles with pork in it which made it better. Don’t listen to the people under me they’re clearly Karen’s and Liam’s lol But like I said besides the crab ragoon I give this spot a 4 stars and I’m from 1 hr away. And shout out to Ling Ling at the cash register! Such a sweet lady ! I’ve always been told if the restaurant looks ratchet on the outside it’s deff gotta be good !

Ordered it via DoorDash and I got chicken wings with tostones along with chicken teriyaki and shrimp fried rice. It was filling but overall great!

Got delivery through Urber and the delivery was great! But the food was honestly some of the worse Chinese food I have ever had. I got Plain fried rice and my husband got pork fried rice and they both looked the same and both where uncooked and tasted like plastic. We also both go the chicken finger, beef teriyaki and crab ragoon plate. The ragoons and chicken fingers where old, you can tell they had been sitting there all day. And the teriyaki had decent taste but where also older. Duck sauce they give tasted like "dirty farts" as my husband would describe. Unfortunately we just ended up throwing the food out. We will never be ordering from here again.

Google
I love the food here. A go-to takeout spot. Great flavor, good portion sizes for the price, good variety and options for vegans/vegetarians. The staff is nice whenever I pick up my food. There's no real ambience or reason to eat-in tbh, I have never felt compelled to do so. There are some tables for those students who may want to grab a quick bite just in case but it's all very utilitarian, probably because of the building being old and the neighborhood not getting the love it deserves outside of Clark. Regardless I will continue to order my takeout over and over here IMO.

Google
I am pretty upset. we ordered and spent about 100 bucks. The green beans smelled like they were no good. They looked questionable too. My dumplings didn't taste good. Neither did the lo mein. Unfortunately they forgot our order of chicken so that's sucks. However the chicken fingers were great! Wouldn't suggest going.

Yelp
The portions here are bigger than most places ... that seems to be why a lot of people are leaving such high reviews. In Central Massachusetts, getting more of a mediocre thing is seen as being better than getting less of a great thing. Because this food is no better than your average mall's food court Chinese food. It's average, at best. But there are heaping servings of average. Let me start out by saying that Americanized Chinese food is my favorite food on the planet. I've eaten at the finest restaurants in the world ... and if I had to choose one thing to eat forever, it would be Chinese food. So, let's just say I've had Chinese at just about every restaurant in MA. Los Angeles has notoriously terrible 'junk food' Chinese food. There's none worth wasting the calories on there. China Lantern is bland, boxed, fried and reheated stuff ... very little taste other than the sugar. The crab rangoon were the worst I've ever had. It tastes like a smudge of cream cheese, a scoop of sugar, no crab and fried between giant dough. So disappointing ... crab rangoon are my spirit animal. The General Tso's Chicken tasted like it was fried, frozen and re-fried. Crunchy ... very little chicken to bread ratio and the sauce was little more than sugary syrup. I tasted no garlic, ginger or orange peel. One-note and blah. The fried rice ... I knew when I saw the yellow color that I was in trouble. We all know the really good fried rice is brown. It tasted like the bags of Goya yellow rice you mix with water. Hardly any pork or egg and certainly not made fresh. Even after 3 packets of soy sauce, it was still bland. Instead of freshly made duck sauce, you get the generic packets. No hot mustard. Needless to say, I won't be coming back. Yong Shing is about the best Chinese I've found in the Central MA area, even though the quality has gone down hill quite a bit there, it's still 4 out of 5. Chum Lee's in Shrewsbury would also be a 4 of 5. When you get out into the North Shore ... Jade East in Tewksbury, the Billerica/Chelmsford places or The Kow Loon on Route One, you are really talking 5 star 'junk food Chinese'. If you want a mountain of average food ... this is a good spot for you. If you want the best tasting Chinese, go elsewhere. Chinese food is hard to get wrong ... so this disappoints me greatly.

Yelp
Very disappointed; dishes were largely tasteless, over- breaded, or downright odd. No chopsticks or soy sauce with delivery. Sauce leaked all over the bag. Won't order again. Waste of money.

Yelp
The best things that this place has going for it are that it's open later than most Chinese places in the area, the prices are good and the lady that runs it is pretty friendly. I really did try to like this place and I gave it numerous tries. . I love Chinese rice, and could live off of it, so I pretty much judge any Chinese restaurant by how well they make their fried rice. This place does not sell fried rice it's really more like yellow Spanish rice with onions in it. Not much flavor to it at all. I tried the fried chicken wings, and found them also flavorless and a little bit under fried. The sesame chicken is quite different than what most places serve. It's really just the breaded chicken fingers with sesame sauce over them. As you may know, chicken fingers are a little breadier than regular chicken chunks, so the whole dish was just a soggy ready mess. The general tso chicken appears to be pre-fried and then fried again when ordered. Sadly, they taste like fried chicken with sugar sauce on it, nothing else.

Yelp
Kind people, good service and good food! Well priced with large portions! The best Chinese takeout I've had on Main Street. Recommend for any college student with a craving.

Yelp
We ordered delivery from New China Lantern a few days ago. It's a pretty standard chinese delivery place. I ordered the customary spring roll and scallion pancake appetizers. On first glance, the scallion pancakes look a bit floppy, lacking the appealing crispness. They were a bit more greasy than usual but nothing that interfered with their ability to mop up sauce or overall enjoyment. The spring rolls were disappointing in size, especially considering they only come in pairs. They were appropriately crunchy and had the usual fillings. They didn't try to sneak in any shrimp or pork or anything, and left that to the egg rolls. My fellow vegetarians: do not fear, they have an impressive vegetarian menu. I was intrigued by both the mapo and kung pao tofu but ultimately the sesame tofu called my name louder than the others. I was expecting an entree with veggies and shit mixed in but no, I guess you only get vegetables OR tofu but not both. The sesame tofu is essentially a hunk of tofu cubes absolutely doused in a delicious and sweet sauce, topped with sesame seeds. This was very enjoyable and thankfully, not too greasy. I am obsessed with string beans so I couldn't pass by the stir fried string beans without adding an order to my cart. The saltiness of this dish contrasted nicely with the sweet sesame tofu. I knew my GF wouldn't be happy if I didn't order at least lo mein OR fried rice. I was in a noodle mood so threw in an order of their vegetable lo mein. This was pretty standard albeit more flavorful than some places that somehow manage to fuck up vegetable lo mein. This was a good order and I would get this again next time. I was satisfied with New China Lantern and it deserves a spot on your Chinese delivery rotation.

Yelp
Very good quality food. I had the orange chicken and my friend got some beef teriyaki and chicken fingers. We both agreed they used a good quality of meat. The sauce for the orange chicken was very liquidy and not a gooey texture like most places. I feel like that could work but the flavor wasn't wonderful. I'd give them another try as the service was very prompt and the quality is there. I'd probably select other items however.

Yelp
All sucks its terrible Food ambience and service They do not have the ability to understand how discomforting it can be when the sweepers sweep the floor with dust and we eating the dish hot served

Yelp
I genuinely cannot recommend this place enough. The sesame tofu is the best tofu I have had in my entire life. Genuinely this is the only place I order food from. The wait time is quick, the people are lovely, and the location is convenient. Get the sesame tofu. Please. You will not regret it.

Yelp
Super hot, super fresh, high end ingredients, quick service, flavorful, reasonably priced, humongous portions, best I've had in a extremely long time! I must try, they have a customer for life.

Yelp
Ordered delivery. Food arrived hot and was delicious! Fried rice and beef chow mein. Will certainly be going back!

Yelp
Finally.. A place where the plates are overstuffed with excellent food, it arrives early and still warm !!!

Yelp
New China Lantern has constantly been my go to palce for food when I am looking for something different from the Clark dining hall. The portions are amazingly sized for the amount of money that I am paying. My only complaint would be that sometimes that food takes a little bit long to prepare but that is simply due to the amount of orders that they have.

Yelp
This restaurant has the best food. Everything was delicious! I especially liked the dumplings, fried rice and chicken curry. We just did takeout, everyone was very friendly and the food was ready quickly.

Yelp
Survived on China Lantern meals during grad school days at Clark - Curry Chicken for the win. The owners are wonderful people.

Yelp
The service was a little off-putting but it's very quick to order. The people at the front are the same who make the food so you need to be quick to order or give yourself some time to look at menu at the front and let then know you're doing so. The food was fantastic. I got the Sichuan chicken combo and first impressions were very good. It seems that their combo boxes are huge and it definitely takes at least 2 people to finish one. The rice is flavourful but a little dry so add some soy sauce. The chicken is not crispy here so go if you're into oily and savory meats. Seating and venue isn't great but it's a hole in the wall place so expect that. Overall not bad.

Yelp
The wings taste like flour and the crab ragoos are rubbery...."OH yea if they get your order wrong they wont fix it".... If they are delivering because they to "busy" SMDH ...I GUESS THE SANE "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR IS TRUE" NASTY....

Yelp
Absolutely love this place, I always stop by when I'm in town. They give you extremely generous proportions, at an excellent price. Make sure to try their Black Pepper Chicken dish! Easily one of my favorite Chinese dishes of all time!

Yelp
Price to quality, this place has great lunch specials. The dinning area is not very pretty, but I can deal with it for a $6 meal.

Amber L.

Yelp
I received an order using Uber Eats. The food was fresh and hot and there were generous portions. I will order again. Thank you

Alma V.

Yelp
The food here is probably the best Chinese food I've ever had. I do wish the boneless spareribs had a bit more sauce but everything else I had was perfect!

Jacob P.

Yelp
Being a college student finding a Chinese place with low prices, good food, with large portions is difficult to come by. New China Lantern, whips up a fresh lo mein daily. The man at the front desk is a true 5 tool star in the food industry. Through icy conditions making the journey to our dorm, as well as wheedling the GOLDEN LADEL!

Andy H.

Yelp
This is by far the worst Chinese place you can go to and makes me never want to go to another Chinese restaurant again, the service was terrible, they got both my order and my girlfriends order wrong and would not change it. The rice was basically raw, the chicken over cooked, it was like a plate of grease. The crab rangoon, one of my favorite foods to eat, this place somehow made it so disgraceful its like cardboard wrapped in cheese. Do not recommend unless you're desperate for food nvm that just go to mcdonald's across the street.
