America's Best Seafood Markets

"A family-owned Cambridge, Massachusetts fish market in operation since 1928, known for busy mornings and a reliable supply of fresh, seasonal seafood that staff will fillet in-house. Inventory includes oysters, mussels, scallops, jumbo shrimp, and a range of fish from New England and abroad—everything from Mexican snapper to Maine clams—as well as sushi-grade salmon and tuna and pantry essentials for making sushi at home." - Julekha Dash

The 10 Best Seafood Markets In Boston - Boston - The Infatuation

"We’re not sure if Roosevelt’s economic stimulus plan involved sea breams or skate wings, but there’s plenty of both at this Cambridge seafood market. They’ve been open since 1928, and they’re still at it with a great selection of filets and whole fish. Plus, they’ve got a nicely curated pantry section with rice, pasta, olive oil, and tinned seafood. The fishmongers are happy to provide you with recipes and cooking tips, which is particularly useful for those of us new to the high collagen pleasures of skate wings." - joel ang, tanya edwards

Wonderful and lovely fish market. People are super friendly and willing to explain the differences. I got the king salmon and swordfish. Super fresh and delicious when I cooked! Prices are slightly higher than other fish markets (seafood prices are high in general). Parking can be tricky. Street parking so you may or may not need to walk a bit. The store is local favorite and it was crowded when I went. So expect to wait a few minutes to order. Great fish market overall.

I’ve been a long time customer of New Deal, but sadly the service has really gone downhill. On my most recent visit, even after leaving a tip, the staff showed attitude instead of appreciation. It’s disappointing, because I always try to support local businesses, but experiences like this make it very hard to continue. I truly hope they can turn things around, because the community wants to support them, but respect and good service have to be part of the experience.

I stopped by for the first time yesterday and was instantly impressed. This place is gorgeous! Clean, beautifully laid out, and stocked with top-quality seafood. I picked up some swordfish and scallops. At first, I thought the prices were a bit steep, and while the staff told me the scallops were sashimi-grade, I wasn’t entirely convinced… but figured I’d give them a shot. Let me tell you, the moment I got home, I knew I had stumbled upon something special. No smell. Not from the scallops, not from the swordfish — just pure, fresh ocean goodness. Then I tasted the scallops raw… and WOW. Hands down, the best I’ve ever had. Sweet, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth perfection. I pan-seared both the scallops and swordfish and still couldn’t believe it. My house didn’t smell like fish at all! I even left and came back in just to double check because I was in shock 😂. The quality here is unmatched. This is, without a doubt, the freshest, cleanest seafood I’ve had in the area. Safe to say I’ll be a regular. I’m already planning my next trip back! 10/10 — Highly recommend!

Google
Amazingly fresh!! I have visited New Deal Fish Market for more than 15 years for their sushi grade salmon, tuna and hamachi. The fish were as fresh as they could be EVERY single time. We raved about them every time at dinner table. Staffs behind the counter are friendly and love to give suggestion how to prepare certain seafood when asked ! They took care of cutting the fish, clean and skin. Recommend this shop any chance I could to my friends 😁

Google
They have amazingly fresh seafoods! I got mussels from them last week, and I appreciate how the staff made sure that all the mussels were alive when being sold. The mussels from New Deal are also way fresher than those you’d get at Whole Foods. I made white wine garlic mussels dishes twice in a week and the quality of mussels from New Deal is distinctly better. I will never buy mussels at Whole Foods again (half of the bag I bought were dead mussels, and they did not taste fresh at all). I’ve also been buying sashimi-grade fish from them for 2 years now :) really fresh salmon, tuna, and scallops!!

Google
I had the pleasure of buying fish today at New Deal Fish Market. I am making a new dish for guests and had some questions about what to buy. Carl, the owner, took a really long time with me and gave me tremendous advice. I really appreciate his attention and help.

Google
I needed a whole fresh fish to make sashimi for my bf and they told me which one was good. I bought a fish that we don't have in Japan, but their recommendation, Orata, was perfect for Sashimi. We were super happy with the result. I love this place because their people are friendly and knowledgeable. And yes you can get raw oysters here. Highly recommend for sushi sashimi grade fish. Will visit again.

Google
I’ve been going to New Deal for years to get the best fish and seafood in the Boston metro area. I live in Roslindale but make the roughly hour round trip to Cambridge as often as I can. The variety and quality of different fish plus a consistent supply of whole fish is unmatched. Staff is helpful, knowledgeable and good people. Love these guys!

Yelp
AMAZING place for sushi-grade fish with great prices. The salmon is consistently excellent. They sell a lot of other stuff to make sushi with (nori, rice vinegar, avocado, sushi mats) as well as other produce for dishes that go with fish (lemons, asparagus, etc.). The service is also great. I wanted to buy some yellowtail but the one behind the counter had started to oxidize, so the guy went to the back and got me some frozen yellowtail. That was amazing. We got the cheaper cut of tuna on one occasion, which I liked a bit less, but next time I'll get the more expensive version and see if I like that better. If you're doing sushi nights with your friends, I find that a quarter pound of fish is enough per person. I got about a pound of salmon and a third of a pound of yellowtail for less than $50. We only got through the salmon, which was enough for four people, and then my husband and I had yellowtail the following night. Which is about ~$8-9 per person for sushi, maybe a little bit more if you add in the other ingredients like rice and nori, but that's still a GREAT deal and much cheaper than going out.

Yelp
Has really gone downhill. Poor selection and rude staff. Not like it was under Carl's Dad. I won't be back

Yelp
I'm hesitant to write a review about this place because I feel like I want LESS people to know about it. Every time I go there's a line down the block. I went in the rain and people were there with umbrellas. It's madness. Because it's pretty much the best fish in the county. Well, that probably isn't true. But definitely in Cambridge/Somerville. The fish is incredibly good, they have almost everything you could ask for and they have sushi-grade everything. I got tuna for poke the other day, added soy sauce and everyone thought I was a brilliant chef. My secret? Waiting in this place's godawful line. So worth it.
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
We came here to grab some salmon and tuna for sushi at home. They had a good variety of different cuts of fishes and shellfish. The pieces were pretty decent compared to getting fish at the supermarket for sushi grade fish. You can definitely taste the freshness in each bite.

Yelp
New Deal on Cambridge St is a popular fish market for the locals. I usually come to this place and the Fernandes market up the street for freshly caught fish, and for sushi New Deal is probably one of the best fish market in town. I well came to the market today and it was good to see that the business is coming back.
google avatar

Yelp
This is the fishmonger that your grandmother told you about, the one where you hear stories about that morning s fish trip, the one where you get tips on how to cook that fish the best where everything is cut perfectly. Truly incredible spot family business.

Marie L.

Yelp
Ordered our NYE fish here for a party and it was perfect. So many good fishmongers have closed in the past few years...so glad New Deal is still here and selling the freshest fish.
google avatar

Grace Y.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I come here all the time to buy seafood, and we think it's the best place in the area for it. We always get their fresh fish, scallops, and mussels, and usually everything is great quality. Sometimes the mussels are bigger and sometimes they are smaller though. Everything is sashimi grade and prices are reasonable. It's unfortunately closed on Sundays though.
google avatar

Yelp
New Deal is amazing. As other reviews say, the fish is consistently high quality. But they're also very kind - I recently got there 5 minutes after closing due to terrible traffic, and they kindly opened back up for my son and I so we could get fish for my wife's birthday. They're good people running a great business!

Charissa O.

Yelp
New Deal is a pretty decent neighbor fish market for quick, end of work week or end of the day pickups. I discovered them heading home as a newcomer to New England I found location to be convenient for us distance commuters.

Yelp
During this covid-19 midst, i'm craving sushi. I wanted to try this place out because I heard good things. I went and they only let 3 people in the store which is great. I asked if they had salmon and tuna good for sushi and the worker helped me. He even skinned off the salmon and wrapped the skin back for me. It was pricey, 60$ for a pound of salmon and tuna, but it was worth. It easily could have fed me for three days but it was so good I ate it all in one day. It is a small place but i definitely will come back!

Yelp
Super fresh seafood market in Cambridge makes it quick and easy to pick up delicious fish for dinner! I brought home a pound of the dry sea scallops to cook that night and they were excellent - no sand, no additional cleaning or cutting needed, just ready to season and sizzle. The storefront is also stocked with all sorts of additional groceries you might need for your dish - in particular lots of options for asian or italian cooking. The workers are extremely helpful and very friendly. No shade against Whole Foods, but I will certainly be patronizing New Deal for all my future seafood cooking endeavors.
google avatar

Evina R.

Yelp
Amazing local joint where you can find a plenty of option for sushi grade fish. I bought flounder, salmon, and sea bass for diy sushi dinner at home. Definitely going back for more soon!

Collin F.

Yelp
Decided to come here for the first time and was not disappointed. The filets speak for themselves, they tasted as good as they looked. You certainly won't find fish like this in a grocery store.
google avatar

Angela Y.

Yelp
After getting my sashimi from here, I have no desire to get my sashimi or sushi from anywhere else in Boston/Cambridge, whether it be a fish market or restaurant. This place is that good - the prices are extremely fair for the quality that you receive, and the fish choices are always plentiful and based on the freshest options available at the fish market that morning, The staff here are true fishmongers and know what they're talking about when it comes to their fish. They'll tell you the freshest catches that they have that day, the best ways to cook any type of fish you select, and they'll even descale, skin, and fillet upon request. If you're going for a pure sashimi dinner, I highly recommend the salmon, tuna, bay scallops, and yellowtail.

Yelp
The BEST quality and service! I pre-ordered 8 pounds head-on shrimp for an event and they were gorgeous! The team at New Deal was a pleasure to work with and the product was the talk of the party. Everyone wanted to know where I got such delicious seafood from! Would gladly rely on ND again.
google avatar

Yelp
I came in here to buy some oysters. I thought I would be the first one in the door when I arrived a minute or two after they opened, but there was already a small crowd inside. The man who helped me at the register was extremely patient and accommodating, even as I kept changing my mind. The oysters were priced reasonably and were very fresh - my family loved it! I will definitely be coming back here in the future!

Dana B.

Yelp
So fresh and staff is friendly and helpful! We come here exclusively for our seafood and have t been disappointed
google avatar

Colleen C.

Yelp
I have stopped here a few times now to pick up some fish to bring up to my mother's house in Vermont. The scrod and haddock are always fresh, and I love the little section of imported Italian good! Picked up some pasta that was pricey but worth it when I made it with some duck confit ragu! I would recommend stopping by here for sure if you are in need of some fresh seafood.
google avatar

Alexander C.

Yelp
Have come here before and they're very consistent with their options. The selection is extremely fresh and they offer a ton of different fish and seafood and will gladly fillet it at your request. Even with the quality being top notch, the prices are actually cheaper than other markets that have similar quality choices. We order the tuna and salmon here for sushi making and if new deal was closer we would probably exclusively come here instead of other local markets. I would give this place a 6 star review if I could just because I saw their crawfish so fresh they were scampering around the display trying to escape!

Yelp
Our go-to fish market in the area, which saved us amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. The excellent and always ultra-fresh seafood choice at the New Deal Fish Market allowed us to consistently keep up our marine cooking skill while providing much needed phosphorus and Omega 3 fat supply. Hands down best fish market in the Boston metro area.
google avatar

VietCitron T.

Yelp
One of my favorite fish market to get sashimi in the area. Own by 3 generations and the owner is so nice and very knowledgeable about where his fish is from. One time I called in and he reserved 3 fresh soft shell crabs for me. I took my 16 years old here one time and he said the fish market was so awesome that it made him want to apply and work here. Truly a local gem.
google avatar

Yelp
Probably the freshest with the best selection on this side of the river. Well, maybe not just this side of the river. My friend from Southie drives into town on the reg to get his fish here. Beyond the selection of fish, you can find other things, like the best olive oils in town. You'll be met with an honest and researched review by the owner for everything in the store. When we were picking out our olive oil, the owner told us what Oleana uses, and he also had a bottle of Frantoia, which is Eric Ripert approved. If you're being fickle about what to pick up, the owner surveys everything from your preferences to what you will eat with it to where you are from. Our first time here (raw bay scallops for ceviche--super fresh and sweet) we saw regulars walk in and instantly get greeted by their first name. It's basically like what you'd imagine a cool ass fish shop in Cambridge to be like.

Yelp
The BEST place around to get fish. Very fresh, excellent quality, exceptional service. I am very happy to support this local establishment. They do a fantastic job.
google avatar

Davy L.

Yelp
Accidentally stumbled on this and decided to pick up some salmon and scallops. Both were incredibly fresh, even after leaving in the fridge for a day. Haven't been brave enough to determine if it's sashimi quality, but I won't be surprised if it was.
google avatar

Josie S.

Yelp
Absolutely perfect oysters, great service, amazing mussels. Best place to buy in-shell oysters in the Boston area, no doubt.
google avatar

Heidi G.

Yelp
Nice guys, excellent quality & great service. Plus even the fellow customers are friendly. Went for first time last weekend. They didn't have sashimi grade tuna, but we bought some lovely salmon & scallops. And ate like royalty for 2 evenings! Thank you New Deal, we will definitely be back!!
google avatar

Ojus P.

Yelp
Came here to get salmon for a curry and have had their scallops. Amazing. The staff is really friendly and helpful. They convinced me to get the lower priced salmon tail since I didn't need a quality cut for my dish. Saved me about $15 and was still totally delicious. Look forward to coming back and trying everything

Yelp
Where have you been all my life? This place is amazing. I can't believe I haven't come here before. If you love fresh seafood like oysters and sushi, you will love new deal fish market. Everything is really fresh there, they can clean up a fish for you to eat raw! I bought some tuna and salmon. The tuna was about $24.99 / lb, not cheap, but totally worth the price. The salmon was cheaper, and extremely fresh. I brought home the sashimi and made my own sushi. As for the oysters, they are so fresh. They are actually cheaper than the oysters at Starmarket. The oysters at starmarket were about $3 or $3.50 per piece and tasted horrible. Here, they were about $1.50, they even had XL oysters that cost more but were so worth it. The extra large oysters were so huge, and eating them was an orgasmic experience. They actually smelled the oysters and knocked them together (apparently the sound can tell you if the oyster is good) and made sure the oysters were fresh. The folks at starmarket did not do that for sure. You can also grab other things here such as seaweed, rice, some vegetables etc. I want to try to the other seafood next time- they had scallops, fresh lobster, octopus etc. The lobsters were so fresh that they were moving around. New Deal Fish Market is so worth it, the quality and freshness of the seafood can't be beat!
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
I had to update because even after 3 years they never cease to amaze. I bought a whole salmon to cut up into fillet's and freeze. It was nothing short of amazing even by their standards. I ate 2lbs raw as Sashimi before freezing fillets. (FROM 2017)When Wulf's in Brookline closed I never thought I would find a similar replacement. I could not have been more wrong, New Deal is as good or better. Incredible variety and you can't beat the freshness. I buy a 3lb tail section of salmon and we have it over 3 nights and it is still fresh on the 3rd day. If they have the large head on shrimp don't even hesitate, best shrimp I've ever had by far. I also buy fresh tuna and make sushi, never thought I would do this because I'm always hesitant of the quality. Well needless to say I rarely find better sushi grade tuna at any restaurant, and check out their selection of soy sauces, I highly recommend the Kappou Sashimi soy, just unreal. Aside from the fish just walk around at all the other stuff they have; their selection of pasta is outstanding, like Fregula which I had never heard of, now a favorite. And the dried beans, I never buy canned anymore. They have fresh vegetables and fresh herbs. I could go on and on.
google avatar

Caitlin R.

Yelp
Excellent fresh fish and a friendly atmosphere. My boyfriend and I went to pick up a selection of salmon, tuna and oysters for our homemade sushi feast. Garrett was extremely helpful and personable. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Erik S.

Yelp
My go to place for fresh fish in the Cambridge area ha da down. Yes it's a little pricer than a Whole Foods or star market but the extra price is worth it both for the quality and the unique options they have. My go to is the salmon or the scallops but everything else looks fantastic. Highly recommend! Only issue is if there are a few people in line, it can take a bit to get served but that's a small price to pay for amazing quality.
google avatar

Elif K.

Yelp
I am so glad that I found this place on Yelp. Now, instead of going out for fish and pay at least $50, I just go to New Deal and get my fish fresh and come home cook it as I want to. I have never been disappointed with the freshness of their fish. Just a little tip, before you take your fish home with you, make sure it's cleaned all the way as it happened to me couple of times ( which is absolutely understandable as they are always busy) and it's very hard to clean it on your own
google avatar

Brian W.

Yelp
Went to the New Deal for the first time to get some sushi-grade tuna, Called ahead, and talked to the staff and they asked me what I wanted to do with the tuna and made good suggestions. Everything was fresh, (all the fish eyes were clear) the place was clean and the staff was friendly. Will go back.
google avatar

Bradford S.

Yelp
The best - hands down. We're so lucky to have a fishmonger like this in our area! I've never had fish or service of this quality, it's absolutely outstanding. They also have great Japanese and Italian specialty foods that can be hard to find elsewhere (I get 00 pizza flour there), and just enough produce and staples to make this an easy stop for quick meal fixings on a weeknight. You get what you pay for here, and while that may mean you're paying more than what you would at a grocery store, the quality of the fish and knowledge of the staff is absolutely worth it. If you think about what an outstanding dish would cost at a high-end restaurant, buying fish here and making your own is a remarkable value. If cost is a concern, I'd encourage you to try out some options like the Salmon Collars, Local Hake and Mussels for a really tasty fresh meal that's easy to prepare and economical.
google avatar

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Sushi grade, sushi grade, sushi grade! I love their salmon and tuna! Roughly $18 per pound for salmon and $20 per pound for tuna. Highly recommend this if you are planning to make sushi or if you want to eat it sashimi style. I typically eat this with Korean soy sauce (less salty with a hint of sweetness) and wasabi that I make from wasabi powder and water. For two people, I would say that three quarters of a pound is enough with rice and some veggies. Doing it this way is a lot cheaper than going to a restaurant and paying $2-3 per piece. This place has grrreat quality fish! A bit pricy but you get what you pay for!
google avatar

Mari T.

Yelp
Got 3 pretty big size of sashimi grade blue fin tuna filet for $28. I made poke and was plenty for 3 adults. Everything there is sashimi grade I was told. I looked at Nori(seaweed paper) for sushi and one package was around $10, I know that is over priced so I'd recommend to get sushi ingredients at H-Mart if you are making sushi.

Alan B.

Yelp
This place is great. We have been here a few times when we want to make sushi. Their fish is always fresh and very high quality. Yes, it costs more than the grocery store, but you are paying for high quality and expertise. They have all of the things you would need to make sushi if you dont already have them, and are more than happy to talk to you about the fish they have available that day and recommend the best options for you. Street parking is available. In the times of Covid they;re only allowing 3 people in the store at one time, so there is a line, but the line moves quickly. Go here for your fish once and you'll never need to find another fish market!
google avatar

John T.

Yelp
This is definitely my go to place for fish in Boston. They always have a wide selection of seafood from octopus to sea urchins to branzino. The staff will clean the fish and scale it for you, if asked and the manager is always friendly and accommodating. Although I now live farther away from the market, I still travel the extra distance so that I know that what I buy is both high-quality and fresh.
google avatar

JoJo F.

Yelp
Attention all you sushi lovers - you have got to try this place. Just started making my own sushi and was a bit nervous about it. I tried this place which was suggested to me by a co-worker and a sushi-holic and boy was he right. I tried the atlantic salmon, big-eye tuna and hamachi (yellow-tail) for rolls and sashimi - great! They have everything you need to make tasty sushi at home at a fraction of what you would pay at a sushi restaurant. 6 of us ate for under $60 bucks! They had great looking whole fish as well as beautiful cuts of swordfish and halibut, including an impressive assortment of shellfish. This is a seafood lovers paradise!

Yelp
I just went here with my mom and had a HORRIBLE experience. My mom is the closest person to a fish expert I know. She grew up catching fish and all kinds of shellfish in China and she still goes fishing multiple times per week weather permitting. She could tell that their fish wasn't that fresh (estimated that they were caught many days ago by inspecting their eyes) and being the brutally honest person she is she voiced her opinion. They were really offended by her comment and basically told us that they had been open since 1928 and we better GTFO if we thought their fish wasn't fresh. I don't think being open for a long time necessarily correlates with having super fresh fish...anyways it wasn't just one fishmonger being rude either...pretty much the entire store ganged up on us as we left. They also tried to convince me that their lobster which is 2 lb+ for $12.99 a lb is a better deal than Market Basket's chicken lobsters (1-1.25 lb) for $3.99 a lb. I'm sorry but there is no way I'm going to buy that argument, even if the chicken lobsters are "filled with water" as the guy claimed. We've been buying 5 lobsters multiple times per week from Market Basket and they have always been extremely satisfying. The funny thing is we stopped by Fernandes Fish Market nearby on the way home and my mom made the exact same comment. The fishmonger there was still friendly and courteous and even though we didn't get any fish I am more inclined to visit that place again than go back to BAD DEAL FISH MARKET (prices are exorbitant for the quality of fish and rude service). I've been here a total of 4 times and the past experiences were just average. We mostly purchased Jonah crab and once we also bought some fish roe. We stopped going because we just don't like Jonah crab that much compared to the sweet delicious meat of Maryland blue crab. Needless to say we will not be returning.

Yelp
First let me be clear: This is about an exchange I had on the phone with New Deal fairly recently that has turned me off completely. If someone can't provide good customer service then they are SOL in my book. I'll bring my hard earned dollars elsewhere, thank you. So I needed to purchase a decent amount of seafood but had a couple questions to make sure this place could accommodate my order. They are much more conveniently located than going to the fish markets by the pier so I gave call, I inform the person who answered that I intended to purchase a quantity of product for a special occasion. I went on to say I have a few questions. His response was a rude, gruff "Make it quick, I'm busy today", pretty much verbatim. Well, last time I checked, you usually don't treat customers like that especially if they will be giving you a decent amount of business. I responded with a simple "I think I'll go with someone else". I wouldn't stoop to his level and return the rudeness factor. I've got better things to do with my energy. Then I promptly hung up the phone. Never once was I anything but polite. Needless to say, I took the trek to another market and was well taken care of. All my questions were answered and each person I spoke to was polite and helpful. New Deal needs a new attitude. The guy at Stop & Shop treats his customers better!

Yelp
New Deal Fish Market is a family business of papa, mama and their son. A lot of clients here are Japanese because fish is sashimi-grade. Pros: Fish you get here is sooooo fresh and yummy! And is incredibly cheap! If you are Japanese they know Japanese names for all the fish, so it's very helpful. The son is especially very helpful, he can suggest you how to cook things too. And believe it or not, they have the BEST Kalamata olives and cheese in town. Forget Whole Foods! If you want seafood/olives/cheese, go to New Deal Fish Market!! I am Japanese and I know my fish. My nationality is born to be snob about fish. When we say they have good seafood, it means they REALLY have excellent seafood. Cons: Parking is not that easy. There are street parking (meter) but only on the main street. The side streets are resident parking only. And the store is closed on Sunday... I can only get there on weekends, so I can only go there on Saturday. But it's family-owned and they need a day off too, so I understand. Hours: Mon 3pm-7pm, Tue-Fri 10am-7pm, Sat 9:30-6:30, Closed Sunday

Love their fish here! Most fresh that I have found in all of Boston! A quick in and out run. I like to make poke and sashimi with their salmon and tuna. Wish I had some right now!

Yelp
I never made my way here, until this past Saturday. I had a long conversation with a friendly dog owner at the park. He just happens to be a Sushi fanatic (as am I) and raved about New Deal. This shop is run by a family from Italy...but it carries the freshest fish you will find anywhere to make Sushi! They even carry Italian, Portuguese and Japanese goods to complete your meal. The store is small, but everything is fresh. Their assortment is amazing and the owners will help you in any way possible. The owner even gave me ice to pack the fish on, even though I only had a 10 minute walk. He said "It makes all the difference in the world." I purchased salmon, tobiko, rice, nori paper and tuna....All under $35. If you ask, they will cut the fish for you. They even ask how many people you are planning on and suggest portion sizes for you. The stand out at this shop is the owner. A nice older man, he asked where my family was from. When I told him Sicily, he proceeded to tell me about their cheese and olive selection and tell me about where he was from in Italy. He even recommended a wine for my dinner that would compliment my selections. This man knows me well. I get good vibes from this place. Local, friendly, from Italy, fresh products and a distributor for my Sushi obsession. Who could ask for anything more?

Yelp
Has this place been around since the Great Depression? I think of Franklin Roosevelt every time I pass by. But now, I will finally think of what it really is: The best place for sashimi grade fish in town! I love local family businesses and this is a great one. They have it all and the quality is the best. It's also nice that it's father and son and there is no snobiness or pretension directed towards clueless questions about such costly grades of fresh fish (from people like me). I am still baffled by the modern aesthetic of their business cards. In my deranged imagination, the son dates a graphic designer. It's old school quality with new appeal. Whenever I go here I feel like I am in an independent film. Also, does anyone else think it's funny to pretend that you want to sew the salted cod pieces into a nice jacket or quilt? because I sure do. and ps. if you are unsure of how to slice your sashimi you can youtube it dude.

Yelp
When I mentioned whole foods and the guy laughed I knew I was in the right place. Fresh! Delicious, wish I could shop here every day. Sushi grade? Yep! They've got it all. Date Rating: 2 (10 if you're cooking for them, great fish!) Pick up Scale: 1 Strong Suggestion: come often, ask what's fresh.

Yelp
AWESOME!!! My first fish market experience in Boston, and thank god!!! The woman who helped me pick out fish for a sushi party I was having later that night was sooo helpful. She even gave me recipes to take home. I picked out a sea bass, which they filleted and sent me home with the head and some other part that I can make soup with later. I got salmon, two kinds of tuna, and some tobiko (little bright orange fish eggs) and the entire sea bass for around $40. We had left overs after feeding 10 people sushi!!!!! I suppose it's also important to mention that the fish was delicious. I highly recommend New Deal for the price and the service. I will even make the long trek back from Dorchester.
