"Thankfully for Austin, beloved dim sum restaurant New Fortune came back after a three-year shutter, now found near Anderson Mill. Owner and chef William Wong and the team are still slinging all-day dim sum, but for this guide, that means weekend dumplings, bean curd rolls, buns, and scallion pancakes. Saturday and Sunday daytime hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are indoor dine-in services and it offers takeout through Door Dash, Uber Eats, Grub Hub, and Chow Now (links on its website)." - Nadia Chaudhury

"For years, New Fortune was the go-to dim sum spot in Austin before closing during the pandemic. Now, they’ve finally reopened near the Lakeline Mall at the border of Austin and Cedar Park. It’s the only spot in town that offers dim sum on rolling carts (but only on the weekends). " - nicolai mccrary

"Oh yes, one of Austin’s best dim sum destinations is back in a new address, with the same classics — dumplings, bao, turnip cakes, and much more. It’s fair to expect long waits for weekend brunch services. Weekend dim sum hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. There are indoor dine-in services." - Nadia Chaudhury

Very fast service! We visited on Sunday morning at 12pm and only waited for 10-15 minutes. The cart service is great, so many options to choose from, from savory to sweet. The staff was very attentive. Our hot tea and water was always full and the completed dishes were cleaned away immediately. 10/10 definitely recommend, great place to enjoy a meal with the family and try multiple different dishes at a time. I'll definitely be back! Top dishes at our table: salt and pepper shrimp (we ordered it 3 times) and the egg custard tarts!

Food is good and fresh. And the seat waiting is not too long for 2-4 pax. The restaurant is new and nicely renovated and staff is ample. There is a great variety of Dim Sum available here. Personally I like the seasonal stir-fried green beans. However, the server may take a while to come and sometimes forgot to serve beverages and need to call them. Overall, the experience is good. And will visit again.

New Fortune Restaurant offers decent dim sum, but the limited menu could use more variety. Reservations aren't available, so be prepared for a short wait. Table turnover is quick, making it a convenient option for a casual meal.

Better than it's predecessor, New Fortune on Lamar. Service is excellent, food is divine, atmosphere is amazing. We went to the Lamar location almost every weekend, for years until it's closing. We were sad to see that happen for such an awesome place. We have missed two weekends since the soft opening of New Fortune 2. We are here for the Grand Opening tonight and I wish more people were here to celebrate this place, the only real cart service Dim Sum in Austin. You MUST try this place if you haven't!

We were craving dim sum and decided to try New Fortune. The primary selling point was that they have dim sum every day. Score! We were seated right away around noon on a Friday. It’s a large restaurant but nothing fancy inside. The star of the show is definitely the dim sum. We ordered a variety of items. The soup dumplings and BBQ buns were delicious and favorites that will bring us back. Prices were reasonable and service was attentive and friendly. Love it! We’ll be back.

We were craving for dim sum and we wanted to try out New Fortune. We went there for a weekday lunch. We ordered beef flat noodle, har gao, cheung fen, shumai, beef tripe, soup dumplings, sesame ball and fried dumplings. Everything is tasty and in good portion. We are glad that we can have a nice and affordable yum cha meal in Austin instead of driving 2hrs to Houston.

We went there last weekend. The official opening time was 10:30 but it actually opened earlier. The front desk said that they open when the kitchen is ready. We (party of three) got there at 10:20ish and waited for 2-3 minutes to be seated. Our table was in the corner so it wasn’t easy to get the carts, but the servers were pretty nice and helpful. The food was phenomenal!!! The beef tripe really went beyond my expectation and others were also great flavor. Best dim sum in Austin without any doubt. Price was also reasonable, compared to some other dim sum places in town. I’ll certainly be back.

We were very excited that a new Chinese restaurant is opened in Cedar Park! I would like to preface my review by saying that this is a soft opening and I’m sure the owner will work things out and make the dining experience smooth and better for everyone. We didn’t get to try the dim sum since they sold out. We ordered four dishes. It took a bit longer than usual to get all our food together. I have a suggestion though: If the customer orders 4 dishes, it might be better to give the table all the rice. What happened was that the first 2 dishes came out and we had 2 rice. And the rest of the party had to wait for the latter 2 dishes to come out to get the remaining 2 rice. This should be a simple and quick fix. The staff were extremely friendly and it is what exactly one can expect and experience in a Cantonese restaurant. I am very excited to come back again in the near future to try out the dim sum. The restaurant shows a lot of promises and just needs to iron out issues such as long wait time for food and service. But again, the restaurant just opened and it is totally understandable.

Yelp
This is the most authentic dim sum I've had in Austin so far! We arrived at noon on a Sunday and there was no wait for a table for 2, but by 12:30 there were tons of people waiting for a table. This is cart dim sum, so I was a little worried when we got seated right by the exit, but one of the owners actually stood right by us and made sure the carts knew to come and offer us food. We were trying to only eat a light brunch, so we didn't get everything we wanted, but we got to try the shumai, har gow, sticky rice, shrimp rice rolls, and turnip cake. Everything was good, and we especially enjoyed the sticky rice, which was a good texture and had plenty of meat. Next time we'll try the soup dumplings and the congee for sure! Including a pot of tea, the bill came out to about $40 for everything. Having had dim sum in a lot of other cities, I won't say this is the best dim sum ever, but it definitely satisfied my cravings. I would recommend this spot over the "bougie" (read: overpriced) spots downtown any day.

Yelp
1. Service: Subpar. We were seated at the back of the restaurant where the drinks were. Lots of staff frantically passing by us. Barely any carts. They just went right past us 70% of the time, and I had to wave my arms to get their attention. Our waitress took our drink orders and gave us the check, only after we waved to get her attention. She passed by us frequently but never acknowledged us, even when we directly asked her a question. Most likely a language barrier situation, but she really didn't seem to care. 2. The food. As previously mentioned, we didn't get to experience all the offerings because they simply passed us by. We were right by the kitchen exit, however, we were overlooked most of the time. Very disappointing. The dim sum is average at best. I am from Houston and accustomed to authentic, high quality dim sum. The only dish we truly enjoyed were the pan fried dumplings. They were cooked perfectly. 3. Price. All in all it was over $40 and we had about 4 dishes. I really was looking forward to eating here, but sadly, it was a disappointment.

Yelp
For Austin dim sum, it's not bad. I'm from Houston, so I can't really compare the two. I don't expect a lot of amazing Asian food in Austin. Most of the items were good quality and pricing wasn't too bad. For 6 people, we ended eating (with gratuity) just below $200. We arrived at noon on a Saturday and there was not a wait. However, the food was a bit of a wait. Only about 2-3 carts were on the floor at the same time sometimes it felt like it was the same 2-3 carts. We had to wait a bit between carts to get a different variety. The only dish that I wasn't a fan of was the Chinese broccoli - they didn't use oyster sauce like most other places do (hey - this is my healthy dish!) Service was typical Asian - not your best but wasn't bad. They definitely are friendlier than the Houston Asian restaurants. I don't think our server knew much English so another server would come over. Overall, not too shabby if you're craving dim sum.

Ritu C.

Yelp
Bad service, hair in my food! I will never eat here again Too much fame and so new fortune has a big head! Sometime fame and fortune don't go hand in hand! Stop feeding people shit!

Phuong P.

Yelp
If you can, just come on Fridaysss! Because their weekends are crazily crowded. The weekend wait time is usually 45-60min and it's a chaos from the waiting room to the dining room. I tried going there on Fridays and I always got seated immediately, relaxing vibe and prompt service. Food is of course amazing, the most authentic dim sum I've found so far in town!

Wooseok C.

Yelp
Terrible service overall. Food came out cold and late. Waitress speaks no English and manager doesn't know how to manage.

Yelp
Sweet heavenly bao! I missed this place! If you haven't had a chance to visit this place, stop what you are doing and get over here now! It is better than I remember. Went today with a couple of coworkers and it was all such a blur. The Greenbeans and Bok choy were perfectly steamed, sautéd, and dressed. I don't remember everything we ordered. It all came and went so fast. The scallion pancakes were crispy with the right about of saltiness. Shrimp dumplings were exquisite! Had this chicken with cilantro dish that was crispy on the outside and so so soft on the inside. And after proclaiming more than once that I was too full for another bite someone came by with some soup dumplings!! I forgot how much I loved them! And then and then we had some little mice shaped desserts and sesame balls. Staff was so friendly and helpful. The new space is spacious and comfortable. Looking forward to my next visit! Oh oh oh and the price! For six of us ordering past our fill it was only $26 pp before tip!

Yelp
This was our first time since this place moved into the northwest cedar park location. It's good to know that they open early (10:30am), and dim sum carts on weekends! Our favorite places are either too far or no longer have cart service. At 10:30-10:45am, it sure was quite busy and glad we decided to stop in for an early brunch/lunch! There was no wait for the carts to come around, the tables are quite tight, allowing just enough wiggle room for the carts to squeeze through. The food was plentiful, although some of the dumpling skins such as the hargow were a little thicker than what I'm used to. The pork shui mai were sinewy with larger chewy chunks but very meaty and a nice size. The Chinese bbq pork buns and shrimp shui mai were tasty, the short ribs with black beans were tasty but very mild flavored. The lotus leaf sticky rice I thought could have been more flavorful, the rice screamed for help, flavorless with very little filling. The taro was overly crunchy but tasty. We may be back to try some entrees off of their menu.

Yelp
Nut allergy warning: Some dishes may have nuts, everything I ordered came out fine after we informed the staff. We came as a party of 3 and were seated with no issues on a Wednesday around 7:30PM. Finally, there was no line! But this was dinner, not dim sum. Order-to-Food Time: 13 Minutes for the Rice Noodles 19 minutes for the Squid Up to 35 minutes for the dim sum dishes (I think our pork buns got mostly forgotten). For three people, we ordered two dishes and three dim sum dishes. TL;DR: the dim sum dishes are ok, the others are pretty good. Stir Fried Rice Noodle with Beef: 4/5. Very sharable but not as much beef as I'd like. Salt & Pepper Squid: 4.5/5. Great portions, very tasty. A little stringy. Pork Buns: 3/5. Served as 3, not much meat inside but good flavor of Chinese barbecue. Szechuan Wontons: 3.5/5. For some reason these felt a little bland. Kind of pricey for only 5. Steam Pork: 2.5/5. A little too fatty for my preference. Service was very considerate and friendly, very family vibe with the jokes. I'd come back again but maybe not for dim sum, especially with a line.

Yelp
It's lunch service on a beautiful Saturday, and you're with a party of three. After driving 45 mins across town for New Fortune 2.0, you walk in, as there aren't reservations permitted at New Fortune 2. You expect a wait time of at least 30 mins, but instead, your party is immediately seated. New Fortune 1.0 was my all time favorite dim-sum go to in Austin. When it closed during the peak of Covid, I was devastated. Although the restaurant hinted at a possible return, there was no official reopening date. Now, three years later, New Fortune 2.0 is back and hasn't missed a beat. Walking into the bustling, efficiently-run dining room filled with people and carts was a sight for sore eyes. Service was excellent and we were checked on often by hostesses and other staff members. We stuck to our favorite traditional dim sum dishes: Shu Mai, Shrimp Rice Noodle Rolls, and BBQ Pork Buns. We came, ate & conquered in just 35 mins-- less time than it took for us to drive there! NOTE: Prices at New Fortune 2.0 are based on the size of the dish. A plate of Shrimp Rice Noodle Rolls (large) costs approximately $7 each, while Shu Mai (medium) are around $5 per plate.

Yelp
Alright, so we've been to the original New Fortune and had them cater our wedding reception, so we're very familiar with the quality of food they used to put out. We wanted to try out the second version to see if it was good. From what we've heard, the owners of NF2 are different from the original owners of NF. We went here on a Friday evening and tried some of their dim sum dishes. Okay, so their dim sum dishes are very much average. They weren't bad, but they definitely weren't good either. For the price we paid, we felt ripped off. They cater to a mostly non-Asian audience, and the quality of their food reflects that. I can't imagine their dedicated Saturday brunch dim sum menu to be any better than what we had that night. We also ordered their Chinese broccoli and Walnut & Shrimp. The broccoli was fine, and the flavor and texture met our expectations. Their walnuts and Shrimp, however, tasted as if they added lemon to their cream sauce, which is disgusting. We couldn't figure out if maybe a cook had accidentally added the lemon into the sauce or if that was just how they made their dish. The sauce is supposed to be slightly sweet, but the lemon just threw the flavor off. It was so bad that we didn't finish it. The restaurant's interior is beautiful, but the lighting was a weird green that didn't match the decorative walls. The service was quick, and we were frequently offered refills on our waters throughout the evening. Overall, we will likely not return unless they drastically improve the quality of their food.

Yelp
Cleanest dim sum restaurant that I've been to, especially for one that offers cart service. Very busy on weekends, especially around brunch time. I'd recommend sending someone in your party to hold a spot in line before everyone else arrives (whole party has to be present to be seated). Lots of parking in front of the restaurant and in another lot to the side of the building. Very large menu with lots of dim sum options, but the shrimp in every dish was really overcooked and rubbery. Beef was also a little chewy but not bad for this type of restaurant.

Kenny N.

Yelp
I arrived promptly at 10:05 AM on a Sunday, just as the restaurant opened its doors (early). Surprisingly, there wasn't much of a line, but unfortunately, not everyone in my party was there yet. The restaurant was already seating guests, so I had to wait until my entire party arrived before putting our name on the waitlist. The wait lasted about 15-20 minutes. Once inside, I noticed the restaurant was small, with narrow spaces where carts could pass through. I was seated near the kitchen, which turned out to be an excellent spot as freshly fried dishes were being brought out, and I had the first pick. The air conditioning seemed to be struggling a bit; there were mini air blowers placed around the dining area. While I didn't find it uncomfortably hot, a member of the waitstaff kindly asked if it was alright to set up a mini blower near our table shortly after we were seated. We ordered several dishes, and overall, everything was quite good and reminiscent of what I remember from their original location. Fried items were slightly less frequent, and I didn't see any noodle dishes on the carts; I wonder if those need to be ordered separately off the menu. Around 11:20 AM, I noticed a smaller groups of people waiting, which might be something to consider if you prefer not to arrive early. However, this observation is based on just one visit.

Jenn M.

Yelp
We came on a Saturday around 10:30. Despite this being the opening time for the restaurant there was already a lot of people. However, with a party of 5 we were seated right away. Dim sum was good, loved the siu mai and cheong fun! Everything was pretty good and service as fast. We got in and out pretty quickly but I wish we would've taken our time as a lot more foods came out on the cart as we were leaving. The parking lot was also er capacity by the time we were leaving at 11-so definitely go at opening time!

Jessica D.

Yelp
I was craving dim sum and made a mistake of trying to go on a weekend. Long lines out the door and they don't seat incomplete parties so it was just a mess. I wasn't even sure how to get on the waitlist. Tried coming again on a weekday and no line but limited food options since they don't make everything on weekdays. Austin to San Antonio has limited options for dim sum and they're all really bad compared to Dallas but I was pretty impressed with New Fortune. The best dish was the shumai. Very flavorful and juicy. Hargow was okay. Good but not the best we had. Chicken feet and steamed pork rib were also good options. I would skip the fried rice. We got it for our kids but again, not the best. The salt and pepper pork chop was tasty and the portion was generous. Looking forward to going again. I know a lot of people complain about the prices but again, not many good dim sum options nearby so it's to be expected.

Megan L.

Yelp
New Fortune is back and just as busy (maybe even busier) than before! I was so sad when this place closed because I used to go with my parents all the time when they would visit me during college, so it brings back a lot of nostalgic memories. You definitely should expect to wait a long time (we waited 35 minutes for a table for 4), and you'll have to wait even longer with a big group of people. However, dim sum is one of those meals that you should only eat with a lot of people because you can try a lot of things. Their tea is really good. I highly recommend ordering a pot of tea. Their dim sum is honestly pretty solid, and prices aren't bad. The four of us paid maybe $25 each? We got a decent amount of medium sized plates, and I walked out feeling really full. Recommend: - turnip cakes - egg tarts!! - congee + youtiao Skip: - beef rice rolls My only complaint is that their timing is really off. There are blocks of 5-10 minutes when there are zero carts out on the floor, so we're just looking around and waiting for food to come out. However, when carts do come out, a ton come out at one time so you'll order a lot. Their dim sum is seasoned really well, and I really enjoyed almost everything we got. Our waitress was really funny and super nice too. I'm definitely going to come back again.

Tyrone B.

Yelp
Tried this place on a whim. Ordered a variety of dim sums, sweet and sour chicken, walnut shrimp, shrimp in garlic sauce and a seafood vermicelli dish. Dishes were all very flavorful and cooked to perfection. The dining room was big and a lot of people were eating and the service was still on point with the dishes coming out in a timely manner. Would highly recommend if you're looking for some good dim sum and/or Chinese food.

Christina H.

Yelp
My group of 7 came in and it was packed so I advise coming as soon as they open. We waited 15-20 minutes, which wasn't too bad. Food was pretty average but I've also had plenty of dim sum in my life so i can be a tough critic. If you have a strong dim sum craving, this will cure it. My favorites were the chicken feet and Chinese fried dough. Some dishes lacked flavor but everything came out hot and fresh so that was good, plus service was pretty good.

Yelp
Re: Soft Opening Hooray! New Fortune has reopened after closing during the beginning of the pandemic. Their new location is smaller than their former location. There wasn't enough parking in the lot, so my husband had to park in front of residential housing. Dim sum is now available during all hours. Dim sum carts are available only on the weekends. During the weekdays, you can still order dim sum a la carte. Minus one star because the hostess underestimated our wait time by 45 minutes. We were quoted 45 - 50 minutes, but the wait was actually 1.5 hours. Sesame balls and egg custard desserts weren't available on the push cart but were available to order off the menu. Two of the waiters were bad cart drivers and rammed into the back of my chair three times. The aisles weren't wide enough to drive carts, and I'm not even sure it would pass fire exit inspection. We saw turnip-cake while we were waiting but never saw them on the cart by the time we were sat. They must've run out. There weren't as many variety of dishes on the carts compared to their former location. But hopefully, they'll add more dishes as they get established. The gai-lan was just OK. The sticky rice wasn't very good. I've had better elsewhere. Everything else was really good. I'm glad they reopened!

Andy D.

Yelp
Absolutely the gold standard of Dim Sum! Beyond happy to know New Fortune is back, after being closed for nearly four years. I used to go to New Fortune after a night of drinking, and always appreciated their recovery food (Lol). The Location is now in North Austin, and is a nice restaurant compared to the previously had banquet hall. The food is still delicious, affordable, and worth it! Great service, and wait times can be up to an hour on weekends. So plan accordingly! Absolutely will be back for many times to come!

Rebecca L.

Yelp
Oh how every single person that walked through the door looked like they were filled with excitement. We went at 5:30p today (Thurs) but we dang well we'll be avoiding it for the next month or two because they start cart dimsum this weekend. All the time though, you can order off the menu dimsum like we did. Food was good. It tasted the same with exception of the fried shrimp balls which seemed a bit smaller and without a claw. Sui Mai was nice and fatty. Harcao had a decent size shrimp ball. Tripe was very flavorful. Ribs were tender and had gojuberries in it. The seafood lover in me got the best of me because we ordered Lobster Tail Fried Rice ($48) which the flavor was great but the lobster not fresh; bit mushy. They don't have fresh live seafood at this time so I recommend to get those later. We'll be returning for when they have the Dungeonous Crab though and believe this is because they're new and may not have a live tank just yet. Service was slightly slow - as expected they're trying to learn their table numbers and keep up with the constant flow of people coming in. Price: all the Dimsum is about $6-7 each which means it's cheaper than Shanghai but still Austin rent pricing. Be on the lookout for the new dimsum place, Tian Tian, that will be opening at New Fortunes original location at MT market plaza.

Chelsea L.

Yelp
The beloved New Fortune has returned! They have a soft opening right now and I was lucky enough to have a friend get a table for me so I didn't have to wait. The line outside is long and they say it's about 45 min but it's really 1 hour 30 min. The taste of the dim sum dishes were good, though the wontons were cold (room-temperature). There is not a lot of variety and dishes seem to be more expensive than the old New Fortune. Space is very cramped. There is not a lot of space for the push carts to go through, so expect there to be some collisions with the back of your chair. They don't take reservations for Sat/Sun brunch. You may make reservations for large parties (6+ people). They have dim sum all day! Overall, I'm happy that Austin's dim sum food scene is growing but personally, I would wait until the line dies down to try again.

Crystal L.

Yelp
New Fortune is back and they have brought their game of dim sum and all their tasty dishes back to NW Austin! The fact that they're right by my house and it's a walkable distance is even better than having been formerly at the N Lamar location. We stopped by Friday on their second day of business and opening things and goodness, were they busy. We were prepared for a wait, and ordering 15 dim sum dishes on weekdays from their all day dim sum menu was via menu but it took a good while. Of course if we had known it'd have been 2+ hours maybe it wouldn't have been such a huge order I would've put in, but I give them grace for the Austin Asian community being so thrilled and showing up with their pocket books and their loyalty for this household staple! My favs were def the bean curd, Crystal shrimp dumplings and shrimp balls! I'm so so excited that there is legit dim sum cart service options in proximity of North Austin, and lunch special options as well! Parking is abundant, the owners and service was friendly and they are working hard to make sure everyone is getting their noms and taking care of business! Can't wait to go back again after the hustle and bustle calms down from grand opening!

Charli V.

Yelp
Grand opening the new location today. The building is nestled behind a gas station and boat store. Parking is ample and plentiful. Will update with food review after eating

Yelp
I showed up at about noon on a Sunday and the restaurant was packed. Many parties waiting to be seated, but luckily, it was just me and my husband dining, so we only waited five minutes. My husband is a vegetarian and my dim sum favorites are meat based, so he chose to order off the menu instead. The service here is pretty prompt and all the servers, to include the hosts, were very nice. Usually, when I go to any tea house, such as ones in Vegas or SF, the staff is super curt and don't necessarily want to be bothered unless they know they're personally getting a tip/$$. Not to sound like a glutton, but we usually order a lot of food, but this time around, we were catching a flight home, so we didn't overeat. My husband ordered veggie chow fun and the salt & pepper tofu. Both of those dishes were super fresh. I felt the chow fun was just a little under seasoned but the noodles were cooked well, as were the vegetables. The tofu was really good too. I felt like the tofu bits were coated in panko/corn meal, which was surprising to me, but all the same, very tasty. The plates I always order at dim sum: har gao, dan tat, spare ribs, and sticky rice. The dan tat/egg tarts tasted exactly how they should; eggy and buttery with a flaky crust. The har gao/shrimp dumplings were good. The shrimp were slightly overcooked, but still all good. The spare ribs were nice and savory. I wanted a little more spiciness to them, but there's chili oil on the table, so problem solved. The sticky rice was only ok. The rice had a dry stickiness to it and had very little flavor. There was a good amount of sausage slices, but I don't recall anything else stuffed into the rice. Overall, the restaurant is clean, the staff is nice/cheerful and accommodating. It seemed like the tables turn over fairly quickly, so I don't think you'll have to wait too long for a table. The parking lot is also big, you shouldn't have any problems finding a place to park.

Yelp
Service friendly and easy/frequent carts! No line on opening at 10:30 on Sunday, but filling up fast

Spring L.

Yelp
Literally best dimsum spot in Austin. You know a spot is authentic when all the servers speak canto and they're playing a chinese cooking show on tv and you're surrounded by old Asian grandmas chowing down on chicken feet. Also the bill came out to $25 tax and tip included and we ordered almost everything off the dimsum menu. Run, don't walk here. Totally worth the long drive out of downtown.

Yelp
Was excited to visit this new location, especially after New Fortune (1?) on N Lamar closed, but left disappointed. Same cart service and dim sum classics, but the quality and flavor were not up to par. The texture of the har gow and cheung fun were off - if you are familiar with dim sum, this is how you usually measure the quality of a dim sum restaurant. As we were getting ready for our second round, we found that all the carts had disappeared as well, around 12pm :0

Yelp
We went to New Fortune when it was in Lamar. Found it when it reopened after the worst of Covid. Sadly Covid killed it off and it closed. They reopened as New Fortune 2. It's literally almost exactly the same. The food is very tasty and is served hot with ginormous portions. We got the General Tso and egg fried rice. A perfect combo. The service was Chinese friendly which means they anticipated our needs which is refreshing. What was missing was the dim sum. That doesn't start until July 9th and we will be back. The dim sum served at New Fortune was amazing so I don't expect to be disappointed.

Yelp
I thought this place was very underwhelming. I don't think it's the best dimsum in town, except for maybe the chicken feet. I wanted to give them 3.5 stars but that's not an option so I'll round up lol decent service, food came out fairly quick. The chive dumplings were good and juicy but the shumai dish was a bit dry. Nothing special about the spare ribs. The salted tofu pork grew on me after a few bites. At first it was overwhelmingly salty because of the fish sauce but tasted better when you combine it with rice. I don't think I would order it again though. I would probably come back just for the chicken feet and maybe to try their other dishes. It's a very nicely decorated restaurant.

Yelp
Weekend service has the carts. People line up as early as 9am. For a party of 10 people we showed up at 11am on a Sunday. Next time we will treat it like tailgating and have chairs and a cooler. The wait was about an hour, but there are plenty of shady spots under trees to hang out in while you wait. Great service - the host and our server were so friendly and attentive. The carts have so much variety. Dirty plates are immediately cleared. The dishes were all amazing. Highly recommend you bring a big group so you can try as many things as possible. Definitely coming back.

Yelp
Ahhhh the memories of the old "New Fortune". Welcome to New Fortune 2, it's like nothing changed just a smaller space and complete with crowds too. As far as dim sum goes for Austin this place still has got it and certainly worth trying for any local lover. Atmosphere: I was actually impressed with the decor, I believe the building also used to be an asian restaurants previously, but the spacing and theming is a bit better than their last location. Food: Here it is one of the few dim sum spots in Austin that actually serves with carts in that traditional style. That just completes the whole experience, and makes it feel even more community like. With that said the choice of food doesn't disappoint, from the siu mai and the chicken feet, I had cravings and left happy. Service: I went during the dim sum service which in ways can be a bit chaotic, but expected. Carts of food come out with people serving them. It may not be as english friendly for some but the servers there will try to assist the best way they can. Every once in a while I get dim sum cravings. So easily every once in a while I'll be returning here as my go to spot.

Yelp
Recently went a few days ago and ordered a few of same items from last time and new ones (steamed spared ribs and the honey walnut shrimp). Definitely do not recommend their honey walnut shrimp as it had this unpleasant overly sweet aftertaste and barely ate half the dish. The dimsum didn't seem as fresh this time. I will have to try to come on the weekends to see if there's a difference in quality.

Yelp
Was wanting Dim Sum and this was the closest. One Hour and a half away. Absolutely worth it. Every dish was fabulous and the carts go around very organized. Didn't miss anything! Cant pick one favorite...all great. Service fabulous and decent dim sum prices. Will make the trip again.

Yelp
难吃,还贵,四个人吃80刀都吃不饱 小笼包还不如在自己家微波炉的 完全是骗老外的 以后再也不来了 Bad tasting, expensive, 80 bucks for 4 people and nobody was full, XLB is worst in the city and they're selling them 3 for $8. When the novelty wears off and they close again, I will open a supermarket called New Fortune 3 and sell packaged mass produced frozen dimsum and microwaves.

Yelp
Soft opening...no dimsum on weekday dinner. But had the Vietnamese noodle and the fish soup. Loved every dish we tried! My friend had told me her family tried to come twice but couldn't get in on the weekend! We were lucky today we came after work! I'm loving Austin because of many authentic different dishes!

Yelp
Went to the newly reopened New Fortune and I think it's a solid dim sum spot for Austin. Went during soft opening so not everything was available and service was slow. We were seated in the small side room due to our large party. It's been pretty busy since opening so I suggest getting there prior to opening.

Yelp
Honestly my expectations were not that high for dim sum in Austin and I'm not an Austin native so I don't know the other variations of this restaurant. That being said, this place was decent. We got here a little after 10am on Saturday and were seated right away. The dim sum was decent. Nothing really stood out to me. We liked the shumai the most because it was the warmest dish between all the other ones we ordered. The turnip cake I thought had a sauce come with it but we were told we didn't need one. I'm pretty sure at other places, we got oyster sauce but that's fine. The tea was yummy but got cold fast since we were right under a fan. Overall, this place isn't terrible and if you're craving dim sum I'd go here.

Yelp
SO GOOD- how truly lucky we are to live so close to this fantastic dim sum spot. Our whole family from age 4 to 42 was so happy with our dinner- there's something for everyone from familiar to adventurous. The staff could not be nicer and the restaurant is beautiful. We will be back!

Yelp
Pretty busy when we got here on a Saturday afternoon. Waited for 10 minutes in our party of 3. The carts remind me of an old school dim sum spot from another place so it's nice to see. Service is quick and prices are fair. The food is good and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for good dim sum.

Yelp
Love the dim sum here. The service was great, been twice already and we were seated relatively quickly which, given the crowds at time, is fantastic. We brought a big group so we were able to try a lot of their dim sum options. Everything was delicious, while the carts could've come a bit faster, outside of that everything ran smoothly. A fan favorite were the chicken feet and Shumai of course. Can't wait to go back on another Sunday.

Yelp
I've gone back for Timsum & ordered sui mai, sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf, chicken feet, pork ribs, turnip cake. Would NOT order steam BBQ pork bun & har gao; not up to HK/cantonese standard. #137 Claypot Chilean sea bass is good 5-stars. I want to give overall 3.5 stars but there's no 1/2 star option.

Yelp
Had a great time for the first day with dimsum carts. Arrived at 10am for the 10:30am opening.. we were second in line and had a large group. Because of our size, we were seated in the side room.. not the best location at first with carts but we let the servers know we were there. Most dishes arrived hot but not everything was available in the 1 + hour we were there.. still working on the kinks most likely. The dumplings were awesome and homemade.. as were the custards and the buns.. glad new fortune is back and excited that the dim sum carts are still rolling in Austin! Will try them again.. giving them time to get settled and the crowds to calm too.

Yelp
Man oh man I wanted to love this place so much!!! Ok let's get into it. -Parking I'd say slightly tricky to get in the front but I believe there is some in the back If u fallow gps it will take u right to the restaurant but met with some friends there n they had trouble fining the turn it's right next to shell gas . - prices unfortunately fair for the Austin area on dim sum. We went on Friday a few of us got dim sum. The other half got the lunch specials Lunch specials is a great price ! - quality dim sum was very filling, ok flavor but nothing exceptional loved the fact it was like I said before very large n filling the other la lunch specials were ok not a lot of flavor in our opinion Lots to pick from as far as options - inside: beautiful, clean lots n lots of seating - customer service the worst ! Idk if she was having a bad day but it was extremely rushed (now I can understand if it was busy or close to closing but it was 12 and it was us and 4-5 small tables in the whole place) She was rude , very short with us, seemed like we were a bother n when was asked for condiments that were on other tables as well as vinegar/spicy oil she didn't bother to bring after being asked nicely several times It just kinda put a damper on the whole experience Will be back though I feel maybe it was an off day and really want to try Saturday/Sunday cart dim sum Nothing but love

Yelp
Food and service was fantastic. All the dim sum arriving on a cart reminded me of my visits to Hong Kong and sitting around the table with my family as we selected the dishes we wanted as it went by. I'm thrilled this is in Austin and I can get my fix when I want my favorite dishes.

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere. I knew I was in a fabulous place when out of 10 or 12 tables I was the only non-Asian. The staff was courteous and friendly. The dim sum was amazing! Probably the best I've had...(even better that I had in San Francisco.) My friend and I split 5 different items; it was plenty of food and we loved every bite. Will definitely return!

Yelp
Unfortunately I didn't get any photos, because I got too excited. So glad New Fortune was able to come back after closing due to COVID. It's one of the few cart service dim sum places in Austin. My group of 6 got there around 11, and we waited a little over an hour to be seated. It was busy due to all the excitement of new dim sum and/or cart service dim sum, so keep this in mind. Be patient with them, as I'm sure they're working out the kinks. Otherwise, I can happily attest that New Fortune has maintained their quality of dim sum from the original location/restaurant. Busy and bustling, but cool delicious dim sum. The parking lot is small considering the popularity of dim sum on the wknd, so be aware you might need to consider ride share services.

Yelp
So glad New Fortune is back as it's the only legit dim sum restaurant in Austin! The new space is nice though I don't think as big as it was in the previous location. They still serve from the carts and the staff was all really friendly unlike many authentic dim sum restaurants I've been to. The food is good quality dim sum comparable to places I've been in Houston and Asia. Ones that stood out to me were their soup dumpling, shumai, char siu buns, cheung fun, sesame balls, and surprisingly the green beans, though we were surprised the vegetable dishes were the "specialty" pricing which was the most expensive. The wait was about 15-20 minutes at 1 pm on a Saturday which wasn't bad. There were some moments when the carts were getting a bit scarce and we were trying to flag one down to get a dish but that's part of the dim sum experience!
