A Collister Center mainstay for Cantonese‑leaning comfort dishes, combination dinners, and dependable takeout. The Idaho Statesman profiled it as an unfussy go‑to—still appreciated by locals for value and nostalgia.

Really good Chinese food! I ordered through door dash and my meal was hot and really good. I am so picky with food, I rather make my own vs from other restaurants disappointing me. But I took a gamble, didn't want to cook and wanted some Chinese food. The hot and sour soup was super flavorful, the pork chow mein was really good! The sweet and sour pork was delicious, and the pot stickers were on point especially with the sauce! I tried many restaurants in Washington, Oregon and Arizona. But this place, I am so happy with the flavors, textures and the sauces! This is how Chinese food should taste! Glad I got to experience this tonight, I found my happy place after being deprived years from great Chinese food. Good job New garden! Thank you so much. 💓

Google
Atmosphere is 5/5 exactly the vibe you are looking for for a spontaneous date night. absolutely no music here, but there is an awesome LED light humming sound to listen to. Food was ready in 5 minutes and pretty good. Bathroom was acceptable (except the mirror above the sink). Looks like 2 people work here, but a great experience nonetheless. Also Chinese zodiac placemat things so again, 5/5 experience.

Ordered on DoorDash. Had chicken lo mein with eggroll and egg drop soup. The lo mein was pretty bland. The soup and egg roll were ok although the eggroll was soggy and the egg drop soup was more like gravy, too thick.

Google
We tried the Almond Chicken, Chow Har Q, and Chicken Lo Mein. I personally thought the lo mein could have a little more flavor all though was quite good, the Almond Chicken was pleasing and the Chow Har Q was good as well. The rice with soy only enough - you couldn't taste the soy sauce! Lol ; if using Door Dash for delivery the pricing gets more on the expensive side. We paid $61.25 through Door Dash for these 3 meal portions and that isn't including tip. We were all satisfied but not everyone was with the total cost.

There was raw pork mixed in our food, when I let the hostess know about she quickly got defensive and called us liers, even tho we showed her the raw pork. She proceeded to raise her voice and got extremely aggravated. Never again will we come back

Google
Ordered a family dinner for 2 and extras over 100 dollar order and recieved half a box of chicken, 6 pieces of pork and seeds, no mustard, one soup for family of 2. The fried wonton chips are not as described. They say stuffed Chinese dumpling on website but they are not. Just really expensive chips. Crazy what your dollar goes for. Oh I recieved 3 big cups of sweet and sour to last though

Google
I stopped ordering food here. Food is equal ro Panda but price much higher. The main reason will not return is the owner. Her personality is not there, sometimes almost rude.

Google
Honestly, the chow mein was so bland and flavorless I had to add a bunch of soy sauce. The biggest issue I had here was I ordered “curry shrimp” and I kid you not when I say I had LESS THAN 10 SHRIMP IN THE ENTIRE TAKEOUT BOX. The rest was filled with hugely chopped onions and bell peppers. Not to mention the sauce itself was so think like glue with little flavor. The picture is after it say for a while and settled, and when I dumped it out to find all 8 pieces of shrimp! The photo is only vegetables left in my “curry shrimp” I do not recommend this place at all. The Chinese buffet is better.

Yelp
I was disappointed that the Mandarin chicken that I ordered and the sweet and sour chicken that I ordered had the same sauce on both. The food lacked seasoning and the fried rice was boring. The service was good , he was very busy with to go orders but friendly to us.
google avatar

Corrine H.

Yelp
I've ordered from them several times. This time the order was wrong, missing Ginger beef and instead was some sort of fried chicken. Really bad service when I called. They were questioning that I didn't know what beef looked like. Maybe I'll get a refund. They said they would refund it, but they seemed really disorganized and confused about what to do.

Yelp
When my dining companion and I walked in at approximately 6pm the restaurant was completely empty other than a take out. As we sat and perused the menu a few more to go orders came in. The music stopped andbwe could hear the music that was playing in the kitchen. The crab rangoon was pretty good, but came without any sauce My food was good but definitely americanized

Yelp
Chinese food will forever have a spot in my heart. As a kid who grew up in the restaurant industry, Chinese food is food is ingrained into my being. It's hard for me not to be so harsh on other Chinese restaurants but when you grew up on top tier Chinese cooking, it's hard not to be a harsh critic. I came to New Garden today for lunch. I was craving chow mein and I was determined to have some. This isn't my first visit and the last visit was "ok". After reading some new reviews, I decided to give it another shot. The restaurant is pretty plain and to the point, it's your basic Chinese restaurant. It's not overly decorative like other establishments in town. The server that served me today was nice. There was a slight language barrier but we made it work. Today I ordered the L6 today which is Mandarin Chicken and fried rice with a side of chow mein. The fried rice was good. You can taste a hint of char in the rice from the wok. It was flavorful and fluffy. I like when rice is tacky and clumps together and this fried rice did. There was good chunks of char su and green onion. Topped with a little sweet and sour sour it makes such a sweet and savory bite. The side of chow mein was good! It was topped with fresh celery and bean sprouts. It also came with a lot of sauce for the crunchy noodles to soak up. That's my favorite part! The chow mein was lacking flavor so I did add some salt and soy sauce to brighten it up. What failed me was the Mandarin chicken. The star of the meal. I'm familiar to the dark meat of the chicken, battered and fried golden. I'm used to the chicken being tender and savory with light crispy batter on the outside. The chicken that was served today was neither. The chicken was so hard. The texture of the chicken was awful and it was unbearable to chew. You can't even cut the chicken with a fork. The batter on the chicken is hard to explain. It was far from light and crispy. It honestly reminded me of kettle potatoe chips. It was thick and too hard. I had a couple pieces and couldn't finish. The meal wasn't completely disappointing. It had good aspects to it. But after trying this place for the second time, I probably won't be back.

Yelp
I was really looking forward to some good Chinese food tonight and unfortunately new garden fell short. It's cold so I ordered Kung pow chicken. What I received was bland chicken and vegetables. No heat no chilies no spice. Very disappointing for Kung pow chicken and not worth it. Not one chili!!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing. The food was cooked fresh, the restaurant was clean, our waitress was extremely helpful and awsome! Food portions are huge. We ordered on the lunch menu and still took left overs home. We ordered a small soup for each of us. Don't be fooled, the bowl is a normal size bowl and the hot and sour soup was delicious Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
I've been looking for a reasonably priced and tasty Chinese joint since my favorite (Top Wok) closed due to the pandemic. New Garden is my choice now. Garlic chicken and pork fried rice (my old standard) was DELICIOUS! I My wife had beef with broccoli, and again, it was super tasty. I can't wait to try their other offerings in the near future.

Bill T.

Yelp
Friendly service and take out was prompt. The quality of the food was spotty with the range from bland to downright bad. Portions was adequate yet not aligned with the pricing. Too costly for the cheap ingredients and lack of variety in flavors. Will not return.

Rhonda M.

Yelp
We got take out and it was possibly the best Chinese food we've ever eaten! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
New Garden Chinese Restaurant, Boise ,Id. If I could give negative stars I would. I tried this place because there were some good reviews, but I have to wonder if we ate at the same restaurant. This was without a doubt, the worst Chinese food I have ever had. I'm a professional cook, and am usually generous in forgiving a bad meal. But every single container was worse than the last. So greasy it literally wouldn't stay on my fork. Lo Mein over cooked, Beef and bok choy slimy and NO bok choy, Mandarin chicken dry and flavorless. Pot stickers tasted spoiled, fried shrimp greasy and all breading. Even the fried rice was awful...I mean, how do you screw up rice? Seriously, I was beyond disappointed, I was actually angry they had the nerve to charge me for what went in the garbage after a few bites. Don't bother with this place.
google avatar

Anita L.

Yelp
Seriously, the most disgusting Chinese food I've ever had. My first time ever eating any food that I could compare to a dirty gym sock. Makes me upset that you would sell this to anyone. Total waste of money and time. A previous review stated in 2021" I can't even believe a place this bad exists. Don't go there. It's a rip off and the food is the WORST. If I could give it zero stars I would." This fact still stands. Do not walk, RUN AWAY!!
google avatar

Yelp
Best Crab Rangoons I've had in years! I ordered the "Egg Roll" which is actually a spring roll, but I didn't mind that at all, as it was delicious! Moo Shoo Shrimp had real moo shoo pancakes as opposed to tortilla wraps that I have gotten elsewhere. Delivery was about 20-30 minutes sooner than they said. I've found my new favorite Chinese restaurant!

Sheila B.

Yelp
Food tasted like it had been cooked in rancid old oil. Orange Chicken was so tough could barely chew it and the sweet and sour pork was over cooked.

Yelp
New restaurant in the Collister center, next to Taqueria El Torito. They have an expansive menu, with 179 items. You may need a two-hour lunch break just to wade through the menu. I ordered a lunch combination of kung pao chicken, pork fried rice and nuclear sauce sweet and sour. It included hot and sour soup. Or I could have had egg flower soup instead. Ordered extra spicy, the kung pao heat was two out of 10. The flavor, however, was good and the sauce wasnt overpowering. The sweet and sour was as expected, deep-fried, battered with a sauce that was too much. Oh well. Service was friendly and prompt.
google avatar

Blake S.

Yelp
general tso bad, egg rolls solid. Kung pao was good.. typical Chinese I guess. Hard to find good chinese
google avatar

Kassondra D.

Yelp
Great Covid precautions. Ordered delivery today and expected it to take an hour but it arrived very fast and was super hot and fresh! I like that their spicy dishes are on the mild side because I only like a little bit of kick. Good crab Rangoon compared to some of the other Chinese restaurants in town. The Hunan beef was our favorite.

Yelp
We took our family here and really enjoyed the food and service. The family who owns it is very nice and we enjoyed meeting them. What we really liked: mandarin chicken, wontons, beef lo mein, chicken chow mein, and the wonton war soup. Fried rice, pork and seeds, generals chicken, and moo goo gai pan were all good. If we lived near, we would be regulars. The kids and adults all liked the food. The prices are very fair. I had it at 4 stars, but the wife lobbied for 5. She said, "I don't even like Chinese food and I liked it all."
google avatar

David F.

Yelp
The "New" Chinese Restaurant in this location is only slightly better than its predecessor. They cleaned the place up a bit but that's about all. The food is the same run of the mill American style Chinese food that I do not like at all. Hot and sour soup? Yeah had this a million times better other places. Green bean and chicken, usually one of my favorite Chinese vegetable dishes comes with black bean sauce. Nothing of the sort here. Pork fried rice, blah. I feel bad for the poor family that runs the place. They are nice and they are working hard, but they don't serve the style of Chinese food that I crave and wish existed more in Boise.
google avatar

Melissa K.

Yelp
Favorite Chinese takeaway place. Our favorites include Barbecued Pork and seeds, generals chicken, and the pork fried rice. If you're looking for yummy no frills Chinese food, this is your place.
google avatar

Lauren J.

Yelp
Really good food here. I live close and had never tried it before. Glad they are in business here. We ordered the potstickers and fried rice. It did not disappoint. The service was okay- new worker who seemed easily frazzled but other than that very friendly and kind. We will be back to give them business!
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Not really a fan. Was sorry Walk N Noodle was closed already. I had the combo lo mein. Greasy!!! I asked for extra veggies, and was told there are plenty already, so no. I asked for crispy noodle, and she said they are. I hate being told a bunch of crap when I know better. I'm just hoping that I don't have gut rot later tonight.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped and got some general chicken Mongolian beef, and fried rice and food was AMAZING I would definitely go back again. This will be my go to Chinese food spot.
google avatar

Adrian A.

Yelp
Chicken was dry, too much onion which over took all of the flavors, not enough sauce on the food, expensive for such a small amount, and left me wishing I hadn't. I hate to be negative but this place was just a big fat NO for the future. I love Chinese food and I order frequently, but this place made me regret it. Bummed!!!
google avatar

Yelp
A neighborhood favorite. I have tried multiple dishes including sesame chicken, pork fried rice and soups. Love the fact that you can eat in and not simply take out. Good portions and good quality recipes.

Julia C.

Yelp
Sweet and sour soup is so thick it's gross and insanely sweet, no sour. Wouldn't even really call it soup. It will be a solid if it goes in the fridge, but instead it'll be in the trash. The chow fun and broccoli beef both have almost no flavor. Very disappointed.
google avatar

Maxx W.

Yelp
Sadly, an assortment of chicken entrees and various appetizers proved inedible tonight. The culprits were poor meat quality - or no meat, just breading - and over sugared, sticky sauce/seasoning

Yelp
So, I had been meaning to try this new place as there are no decent or actually any Chinese Restaurants in NW Boise/Garden City. That which is available is gluey, bland and looks like something the cat threw up. I stopped last night at 6:00 for some take out. First Impressions - The Ambiance is zero. No attempt at light reduction. It feels like a School cafeteria inside. Bright to the extreme. An annoying TV droning on, no music. Kind of a downer. Service - Lady at the front was friendly, a bit pushy and had some language challenges. However, not a big deal. I ordered quickly. The food came out very fast, bagged up and ready to go. Food - I ordered Mongolian Beef and extra white rice. When I got home, I tore into it as I was starving. It was delicious! Plenty of beef, fresh onions, and medium heat. Excellent. I almost ate the whole container. The rice was fluffy, delicious. Nice and hot. I will go back. Best Chinese Food I have had in a long time. Will revisit this review after trying another couple of items. Note: There was a couple leaving after just eating in there and they were exuberant and complimentary. They said they would be back.

Stacy B.

Yelp
I really wanted some good Chinese food (my favorite), and since I am new to the area I thought I would try this place. I have to say that this is THE WORST Chinese food I have EVER had. For one, the sesame chicken was all coating, and no chicken. The Kung Pao chicken was ALL veggies, peanuts and no chicken. The BBQ pork was not pork, but more like thick slices of cold lunch meat, with no flavor. I am mad that I spent what I did and wish I could have gotten my money back. I can't even believe a place this bad exists. Don't go there. It's a rip off and the food is the WORST. If I could give it zero stars I would.
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
Horrible Chinese. Mandarin chicken was actually Almond chicken, the sweet and sour was overly breaded, and the the actual almond chicken was disgusting. The highlight was the soup. Go somewhere else.

Yelp
Wow! Great Chinese food for Boise - we got quite a few items and they were all tasty. Great service, would highly recommend! The egg foo young, and sesame chicken were fantastic!

Gordon G.

Yelp
Sadly, this is the worst food ever. We ordered combination chow mein, sweet-and-sour pork and potstickers. We asked for pan fried noodles and got over boiled mushy noodles. The shrimp, beef and pork were not good. The oil the sweet and sour tasted like it's not been changed in a year, giving it an almost rancid flavor. You could eat the potstickers if you removed the outer wrapping. I was so disappointed I loaded the Yelp app just so I could warn others. I wish I had read the other reviews before ordering. I may be sick. Don't make the same mistake we did.

Jake J.

Yelp
I was looking for something different than my normal Chinese restaurants and this did not disappoint. I recommend the hot and sour soup.

Chris C.

Yelp
I could tell right away that something was off when I walked in. The decor want thought out. Then again with Chinese food sometimes it doesn't mater. I got a lunch combo with chow mein. They brought me the combo with rice but the waitress came back with chow mein. I had three items two of which I couldn't really explain. One item was cold slices of ham...the other was a breaded shrimp with a lemon chicken roe sauce. It had an odd taste. For sure the breaded shrimp was frozen. It didn't taste fresh. I didn't even try the cold ham slices. I'm not sure I've seen that at a Chinese place before. I barely touched my lunch and figured if I was going to use calories i might as well enjoy it. So I went next door to the taqueria which was so much better. I won't go back.

Travis L.

Yelp
Great place to get Chinese food to go. Not much for atmosphere yet, but they have only recently opened. A little slow initially juggling all the business coming in, but they have really started getting the hang of things. Food quality has always been good. I like the staff.
google avatar

Rose B.

Yelp
We took our residents for lunch today and the server was super nice and sweet. Food was really good and price was very decent. Now we know where to go for a good Chinese food next time. place was super clean too!

Yelp
I have only visited this restaurant twice now but I was satisfied with both visits. This is a family-owned business and they are very friendly people. I ordered a lunch special on both visits. I have found the food to be fresh, hot, and plentiful. The prices are very reasonable and they serve a generous portion. I don't know if the food is "authentic" but it was good. The service was also very good.

Megan B.

Yelp
I ordered through their website. Waited an hour and a half; 30 minutes past their wait time. Called to check on the order to be told that I must have ordered through door dash. I did not. I wouldn't be unhappy had they made any attempt to figure it out but she looked up the address and the name and despite having an email from their restaurant confirming the order she just kept telling me I didn't something wrong. Now I'm hungry and pissed.

Dave F.

Yelp
New Garden is what I would call classic American Chinese food. The food was hot, had generous portions, and reasonably priced. The crab rangoon was crispy with a lot of filling inside. My wife had a combo plate, and I had the Garden Chow Mein. Both were very good. I especially enjoyed the pan-fried noodles in the garden chow mein. The service was friendly and very fast. While there are other Chinese restaurants that I'd choose if I wanted more authentic and semi-exotic Chinese, for classic Chinese American, it doesn't get much better than this.

Yelp
Decided to try them out. Excited about the new restaurant in NW Boise. Walked in to place a to go order. Good to see them busy at 8 PM. Two take out customers ahead of me waiting to order and pay. Little slow on the front desk. One person taking payment for seated customers and take out. When I ordered I asked for extra hot mustard. I always do, but never get it for some reason. But this place forgot it all together. No chop sticks either. Check the bag they always say. Dang. I didn't. Asked the lady twice because she didn't write it down. Maybe a little more help up front is needed. Food is average. Generals chicken was like Mandarin. No heat. Had to add my own chili sauce from home. Noodles were good but different. Bland. Egg drop soup was fabulous. We will try again with a delivery order. See how they do.

Yelp
Local Chinese restaurant on State street that has good grub at a very good price and you get a free soup with every meal dine in only. I come here about every other week. Today I had the shrimp curry and when I left I even asked them if I could take some of the curry sauce home and they were more then happy to make me some to go. The family who owns this place are super kind and accommodating. If you want Chinese food and dont want to pay an arm and a leg, come visit.

Gail W.

Yelp
Did a take out order this last Sunday and the food was awful !!!!! The egg foo yung was tough and tasteless The crab ragoon was so salty it made you almost gag trying to eat it. The beef and broccoli was bland and the beef was tough while the broccoli was mush. It will be a very long time before I return.
google avatar

Kelly R.

Yelp
I love their Chicken Chow Fun Noodle dish. I had a business dinner here and everyone loved their food. So stoked about this place. It's the best Chinese food in Boise.
google avatar

Spencer H.

Yelp
Eaten here a few times and worth the recommendation for sure! Delivery was fast and the food was hot and crisp when it arrived. We got enough for leftovers because we enjoyed it so much the first few times. The crab rangoon is stuffed to the brim, chicken Lo mein will be another item added to my "regular" order and the egg rolls are satisfying for sure! Mandarine chicken with sauce on the side! Yes please! Thanks for the satisfying meals and we will be back for sure.
google avatar

Valerie D.

Yelp
Really like this palace. The servers are so nice and attentive. The food is good and we also get a combination. This is a small place. We needed this place.
google avatar

Andrew F.

Yelp
I wanted to like this place. It's local and owned by a family and I love supporting that kind of thing. I ordered a curry dish. It ended up being this slimy sugary sauce with a few pieces of chicken. I picked through the food but left most of it on the plate. I won't go back.
google avatar

Christian B.

Yelp
Pretty good classic chinese! I ordered through DoorDash and got the orange chicken and beef and broccoli and they were both pretty good. They gave me a ton of orange chicken. It was super hot when I got it and even ate leftovers the next day and it was good. A bit run-of-the-mill on flavors but would try again.
google avatar

Julie S.

Yelp
Where do I start? Called for a delivery order and everything was delivered on time. We sat down to eat and my husband took a bite of the egg roll and spit it out saying This tastes like motor oil! So my daughters boyfriend took a bite and spit it out. I smelled them and they smelled funky. I called the store to tell them they had something wrong with there oil. They said nothing is wrong egg rolls are fresh. I said I'm just calling to tell you there's something wrong and you need to do something about it and she said what do you want your money back and I said no I don't care about the money I care about people eating this food it's not good they might get sick from it and she hung up on me I called her back and she hung up on me again. I don't think this is how you handle situations I wasn't hostile or anything I just want to warn her that somethings wrong with their cooking oil. Anyway we won't be going there anymore and I do not recommend them to anyone else. I recommend Golden star. And no I do not work for the Golden star I just enjoy your Chinese food.

Yelp
Went into New Garden Chinese Restaurant today for lunch because when I came over last night for dinner the place was absolutely packed! It may be the food that had this place so busy but in the long run it is going to be because to him or service. The lady that greeted me at the door had a huge smile on her face and was pleasant the entire time she serve me. I felt like I was an important customer and she checked in with me several times during the meal which I appreciated. For my lunch, I decided on the daily special of pork fried rice, mandarin chicken, an eggroll, and a bowl of hot and sour soup. Normally hot and sour soup has a little bit more tang to it but it was still decent. The rest of the food was predictable but that is exactly what I like in a Chinese restaurant. I have almost completely written off Chinese food simply because there have been times where the food is a little too homegrown. The pork fried rice at New Garden was perfect after I added a little bit of spicy mustard and the Mandarin chicken was perfect. By the way, the lunch was $6.50. A great bargain. I'll be going back for sure!!!

Yelp
I went at lunch. Food was tasty and very hot. However, as soon as I got back to work I got sick! :(
