The food was good and it only cost $12 for peking duck, noodles and vegetables. But the duck was served really cold. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be that way. I just didn’t like it.

New Golden Daisy is my favorite place in Chinatown for chow mein $5 and fried chicken $8 by the pound. I've been coming here since I was in elementary school. Back then, it used to be like $1 a pound. Even though the prices went up, the quality remains the same. Very delicious. Since this place is pretty busy, the fried chicken gets a lot of turnover and isn't sitting there the entire day. They are nice people.

Stumbled upon this place while I was walking through Chinatown for the first time. Speaking as a connoisseur of 燒肉 Siu Yuk from Hong Kong, the crispy roast pork here is delicious, very authentic and can rival the best of Hong Kong. Before my visit, I got a turkey sandwich and a bottle of Mountain Dew for 8 bucks, then came to Chinatown and bought the box of fried rice + Siu Yuk + tofu in the photo for $10. The portion was so big I couldn't even finish it. Great value for money 👍 The staff are friendly and can speak Cantonese.

The price is right. $7.99/pound for fried chicken drumsticks. $5 per pound for noodles, tofu, sweet and sour pork. Good place to pick up food for a party. I didn't order but the chicken wings are $10 a pound. It is a good spot to cater food for events.

Had a pound of chicken drum sticks for 8 bucks. Was worth every drum, savory, juicy, and when it’s hot and fresh it’s the best.

Take out only. Lady was very helpful. I ordered the BBQ pork and a pound of chicken wings. The wings just came from the back kitchen. Yes! Great wings! Piping hot and full of flavor. BBQ pork moist, tender and beautiful char siu flavor.

Love the chicken drummettes at New Golden Daisy. I think it's the best for the money! They also have good Chinese deli items including the fried rice, chow mein, sweet and sour pork and tofu. Had a luncheon at work for about 9 people and each person chipped in 15 dollars. Plenty of food that was way enough for lunch and dinner! It's in Chinatown so parking can be a little tough. Fast and quick service. Cash only.

I really love this restaurant. I will give you big portions and it's very tasty. The staff was very courteous and they really wanted you to enjoy your whole experience.

I purchase the whole sized roasted duck and I was satisfied its portion and taste. I appreciate their honesty.

You just have to try their chicken feet! They're so moist! I'll definitely come back for more. The store is not busy compared to the Good Mong Kok next door - so they don't like us standing at their window while waiting for Good Mong Kok... but honestly, that's their failure. By waiting in line and staring at the window, I got so much cravings for their food. If you love fried foods, go here and get some. Like all the bakery nearby, there is no seating so if you want to eat those food right away, make sure to bring your own napkins/utensils and stand around to eat!

It's a little hole in the wall type of spot that once you walk in, it's straight to the point. Two items for $10 out the door. So I decided to get Chow Fun and Char Siu to go. The portions are very generous, but it comes out in room temperature now I have to go look for a microwave to warm it up. Great service, of course. But not for the faint at heart! Lol.

Sadly, this place has disappointed us consistently the last several times. Make sure to watch out for the charge of food. Almost every time, I've been charged $1 more than what I should be and you need to catch them before paying. Last time, chicken wings ($8/lb) were cold and had been sitting out too long. Suggest waiting for fresh wings whenever possible. We also tried the duck for the first time. It definitely tasted old and dry, like it had been sitting out for at least a day or two. It was one of the most disappointing ducks I've had. The only thing that seems to be consistently good is the roast pork but the price is especially high now. Not sure if we will be back anytime soon.

Everyone was right. This is some of the best fried chicken I've had. Top 10. I went to Chinatown on my own lil foodie crawl and New Golden Daisy was a *must-try* for me. Frying chicken is a skill. An art form. How do you bread it? What seasonings do you include? Is it crunchy enough? It's very serious friends. But lucky for anyone who visits New Golden Daisy, you better believe that the folks behind the counter know exactly what they're doing. I visited the biz next door first due to the line and it was shocking to me that New Golden Daisy didn't have a line going out their door as well. Once I was ready, I returned (with cash) ready to order. There's no seating, just enough space for guests to line up and peruse the options available. There was rice, noodles, chicken, duck in the window and so much more. None of the guests I saw going in and out before me were speaking English so I was afraid that I was going to embarrass myself when I got up there. A woman came from the back and gave me a big smile and gestured at me to order. I went with a half pound of wings, not knowing if I could/should order by the piece and not wanting to frustrate anyone. I feel like I barely blinked and she had scooped up my wings and tossed them into a cardboard container. Love it! And then she said it was only $5! With about 7 wings in the container, I think it was a good deal. Let me honest. As I was waiting on my lyft back to my hotel (I was tired y'all, pls don't judge me), I just couldn't imagine not trying these wings while they were hot. I would have given anything for a casual dining space, a chair, a lil stool, idk. But I didn't have that. So I ate a piece of the chicken while standing there waiting for my ride. Some people looked, some may have judged, but guess who was enjoying some of the most delicious, freshly-fried chicken in their life? Me. 5-stars. No notes. Wish I had slipped some in my suitcase to go.

Stumbled upon this place to buy some cha siu (bbq pork) to make a rice dish. I tried a piece to see if it was good and had to stop myself from eating all of it so I'd have enough to make the dish. Will come back to try their siu yuk (pork belly) and other items. At least now I know where to find good cha siu!

Childhood favorite for chicken wings, chow mein, and all the delicious Chinese deli takeouts in Chinatown. Can easily feed a family for $20 here. Be share to bring cash, your patience for lack of parking, and sometimes rushed service. I make sure to stop here everytime I'm in the area for food.

You gotta be kidding me. This is what people are raving about?? $7.99/lb fried chicken wings -- Safeway wings taste better than these! There is no flavor to these whatsoever, not even salted! It's slightly better if you get them fresh from the fryer and slightly better if you air fry a little at home but once they cool down for more than 15 minutes, you can the true flavor of these wings -- which is basically low grade factory stuffed chicken that's probably near expiration, fried in rancid reused oil -- barf, this horrible. Whoever is eating this never had decent wings. The service is also mediocre at best and it's not because of the language and culture because I spoke Cantonese to the lady and she could care less if I was a repeat customer or not. On top of that, they take payment in cash only. The store is tiny and I seriously question their sanitation. Absolutely would not be returning.

Right in the heart of Chinatown. Every time I passed by there was always a line outside the door. Finally had a chance to try the food and it was good. Great for dim sum lovers. It's a small place with a few tables and chairs by the front door. There's a second floor also, but I've never seen it. I've always taken the food to go. If you drive, park at the nearby Stockton garage.

Chicken drumette $7.99/lb were good. Would have been better hot. Curry fish balls $10/lb sauce was quite salty but the fish balls satisfied my cravings. Four drumette and ten fish balls came out to $9

Grew up eating the delicious garlic chicken drumsticks as a kid. Whenever my mom went to Chinatown to buy groceries (every Sunday), my siblings and I would get these yummy treats. Fast forward 25+ years and New Golden Daisy is still in business and getting more popular. I love coming here to get party trays of the drumettes, a favorite item at every event. In Chinatown this is the only spot for chinese fried chicken legs is what grandma says. It's amazing to see people line up next door to be just only within reach of another treasure yet to be discovered. There are two of these stores Daisys on the same block with similiar names. For some reason I always end up entering into the wrong store and then end up in the correct one after realizing the layout. It's all good . Best way to remember this store is that it's right next to the dim sum store.The party trays catering for the chicken wings are def popular here. They sell Togo boxes at $5 per lb. perfect spot for a lunch. This is a one stop shop for catering. This place taught me what black meat chicken was before I even knew what to call it. The chicken is unique to its style. Has a nice fried exterior , the batter is just nostalgic, although it's missing the green onion it still has the same taste. A crunchy subtle sweet exterior

Best Fried chicken!! Fragrant, crispy but still juicy with the special hint of ginger. This chicken will always be a fond childhood memory of mine, spending weekends in Chinatown so my mom could do her vegetable shopping. Pork buns, fried chicken, egg tarts, sesame balls and a cold coke was our go-to lunch on these weekends. I'm 50 now and enjoy getting this for my kids when we visit the city.

Golden Daisy has been one of go-to places for chinese food growing up in San Francisco. What really makes this place stand out the most are their chicken wings! They're some of the tastiest chicken wings I've ever had, and it still reigns true to today. Its flavor profile is so distinct and the way the fry their wings is so different compared to how other asian places in Chinatown make it. My mom always orders these in giant bulks for large parties. And people love them! Eat these fresh like anything fried in general! Its warm, crispy, savory, and it has a slight sweetness to it that makes it very addicting. I remember I killed a large box of it on my own when I was younger. Everything else besides their wings are solid too. But this place stands out the most for their chicken wings! I've come here my whole life and it's still one of favorite stops in Chinatown! Whether if it's for their chinese food or whatever, I do highly recommend getting their chicken wings for sure.

Read a lot of great reviews about their chicken so we had to try it. Didn't realize this place is right next door to our usual spot when we visit SF - Good Mong Kok. We ordered a box of the fried chicken drumettes. It's about 10 drumettes for $8. We all tried it and it was an instant hit! The whole family asked for 2nds after the first bite. The fried chicken has a slight sweetness to the coating. Not bad. We will definitely order this again!

I heard this place had some fire chicken and they didn't lie. Not to mention it was CHEAP!! Perfect crunch, crispy and flavorful. The fried shrimp were good as well, I got two! Perfect walk and snack meal

Read Cheryl M's review and she knows fried chicken. I've poked my head inside a few times and this morning, the wings were ready! Yes, have them hot! Nice and savory with a good crunch. Also picked up some Char sui, 1/2 fat- 1/2 lean to add with ramen tonight. Definitely going to be a regular stop for me.

So given that this is probably my last review of 2022, it was time to "go big or go home". I've been vibing on Grubwitmike and his great cheap eats insta reels. He did one on Golden Daisy and I knew this was food that I needed to have in my stomach ASAP. Next trip through SF we stopped by Good Mong Kok for our usual dim sum hookup and boom, right next store was NGD. Got a small order of drumettes and some BBQ pork and damn was it good. The chicken was super juicy and salty sweet in an indescribable way, sooooo good! The pork was also very juicy with hints of star anise and a great depth of flavor. This place is now on my top SF eats list. Get some!

Pro tip: Try the chicken wings Highlights: The chicken wings had really good flavor and a good crunch. I'd try eating these as hot as possible for optimal deliciousness. Lowlights: It's a small shop and hard to find parking. I wasn't super blown away by the roasted turkey, but it's still better than the regular American Thanksgiving turkey.

Cash only! The ladies behind the counter don't speak very good English and can come off as rude but they are really nice and sweet. I was waiting on line next door, glanced over and the piled high noodles and roasted meats in the window immediately grabbed my attention. The meats were juicy looking and not dry. Didn't look like a ton of food coloring was used either. The roast pig looked crispy. I could not be helped but drawn in. I waited my turn and ordered. I like my honey BBQ meat half fatty and half lean. The lady took her time to pick out just the right one for me. For the roast pork, she trimmed the fatty pieces which was really nice of her. As I glanced in the back, I saw the master chef roasting another pig and I knew this place would be amazing. Not many places have that large of a back and roast whole pigs like they do. I was running errands and did not get to enjoy the meat until about 4-5 hours after purchase. Everything was still delicious. The roast pork surprisingly still had some areas of crunchy skin. With a few minutes in the air frier, the meat will be epic once again.

After I picked up dim sum next door from Good Mong Kok Bakery, I strolled into New Golden Daisy for fried chicken and noodles. There was no line (maybe because it was only around 8 am) and the items were just made. For $27 (CASH ONLY!) I got a huge amount of food! They are very generous here. I asked for 15 pieces of fried chicken, a large chow mein and a small chow fun. The lady was really nice as she was preparing my takeout containers and asked if I wanted napkins and plastic forks with my order. New Golden Daisy offers fried chicken, a variety of noodles, fried rice, roast duck, char siu, tofu, and even a wall of chicharron! Everything is in steamers and all you have to do is point at what you want at the display counter. This place is strictly take out- no seating inside. Although I was planning on taking the food home to share with the family, I couldn't help myself and wanted to try a piece of fried chicken immediately. It was perfectly fried and lightly salted. Once I got home, I placed a few pieces of fried chicken in my air fryer. Mmmm...tasted even better when extra crispy! The noodles were okay. They don't come with much char siu but it's good for the price. My girlfriend purchased some pork belly and she said it was delicious. I should have bought that too. Darn. I would come back for the chicken for sure. Great for a quick bite to eat or if you need a party tray to bring to a potluck!

My go to whenever I'm in Chinatown for their fried chicken drumettes! Been coming here for years! The tray of fried chicken turns over quickly so you will most likely get a fresh batch. The oil that they use has always been consistent and I've never had a bad batch where the oil tasted rancid. You can always ask and wait for the next batch to be brought out by the kitchen if what is out is almost gone.

This place has the best Chinese drumsticks and chow mein in San Francisco! Whenever my parents go to Chinatown, I ask them to buy some for me. When I was a kid, it was only $1 for a small box of chow mein and $1 for 3 drumsticks. Even though it's around $4 each now for a total of $8, it's still one of the best deals in the city for yummy food!

This place has been around for decades and is popular for their little fried chicken drumsticks (drumettes). They have a great blend of spices and flavor to them. They are sold by the pound and are great for a snack or party. They also sell other items such as char siu (bbq pork), roast pork, roast duck, soy sauce chicken, chow mein, and chow fun.

since this shop was sold to the new women owners, it has been very disappointing. when the shop was owned and ran by guys, the drumlettes was "to die for", now they aren't as addicting as previously. while to cost went up, the taste has gone down. maybe the guys didn't give them the recipe when they sold them the shop. most of the time, the chicken drumlettes has been sitting out and is cold, tough; that speaks volume on how their taste declined. the only thing good is that the place opens up early so you can get that chicken craving out of your system. also, it's early enough so there's not a lot of traffic when you chuck the bones out the window.

Living in Humboldt I really miss good Chinese food and this place did not disappoint! Got a whole roast duck and a pound of bbq pork to go (price was very reasonable) and after a 5 hour drive home finally dug into my goodies! Both duck and pork were delicious and worth the 5 hour drive!

Had to get a pound of the highly recommended fried chicken wings since I was in Chinatown. I didn't try one until I got home, so they were cold by that time. Even then, they were very flavorful and tasty. My son liked them, too. Would probably be really good hot... maybe soon after coming out of the fryer. The wings were small, so you get a lot in a pound; would make a great snack for a lot of people! The pound was $8.00, a bit more than I was expecting, but prices have gone up on everything, so I won't quibble about it. Nice people behind the counter; friendly and welcoming. I would definitely order again if I'm in the area!

Located next to Good Mong Kok is this hidden gem. I waited in line for Good Mong Kok for a good half hour and saw so many people walking in and out of New Golden Daisy. After picking up some dim sum from Good Mong Kok I decided that I had to try the wings here and I am glad I did. The crisp, saltiness, and tenderness of the chicken is *chefs kiss*. Only think is that I wish I had some rice to have the chicken! Second best wings in SF hands down behind San Tung and right infront of Manna's soy wings

This review is for the fried chicken only. They were perfect. Fresh out of the fryer, crispy, hot and well seasoned. This time I only got a half pound (about 8 drumettes) because it was just going to be a sample snack. It was only $4.00! Next time I will definitely get more!

We ordered chow mein , fried chicken Drummets , stir fried Chinese broccoli ,sliced bbq pork and a roast duck for a small gathering. Easy pick up and everything was as expected. Cash only place

I've honestly never head of this place until my family asked me "do you want to get some really good fried chicken?" I didn't have high expectations in chinatown but I was starving from walking around chinatown all day. We ordered: 1. Fried chicken wings: Incredible! I was mind blown how good it was and not expecting how fresh and crispy it would be. I was also insanely hungry so maybe that may boost the taste a bit but I was very impressed! The seasoning was excellent and not too salty like a lot of American chicken wing places are. 2. Roast Pork (Siu Ju): SO GOOD! The pork was super flavorful and skin perfectly crunchy. I think it was about $10 per/lb which is about standard price. This is also crazy that this counts into the review but they didn't try to cheat me like a lot of other places do where they throw ineatable bones into my order to add to the weight. They also asked me what cut I wanted which I appreciated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall, highly recommend if you want hot food in chinatown that is good quality and not too expensive. Love their meat and the service was good. No lines either.

I was in the area and saw the shop! Might as well grab some drumsticks for the road! Still as tasty as I remember but prices have gone up! About $17 for two pounds of that tasty fried chicken now! Oh well, I'll still buy it for the noms :-)

Food has gone downhill. We bought a pound of the fried chicken wings and it hardly had any batter on it compared to the past. It still had flavor but not like before. Maybe it was a bad day but these wings definitely were not crispy, crunchy or worth the $8 a pound.

Still THE BEST and my all time favorite fried chicken drummettes after all these years. It's garlicky and fragrant. I'd say it's possible cheaper than buying and making your own wings. I have so many fond memories of walking thru Chinatown, and then popping in for some fried chicken to eat while walking down the street- first as a kid, then as an adult and now taking my adult kids. Always dependable and certainly a staple of many Chinese house parties. Please don't ever go out of business.

Delicious fried chicken but... the chow mein needed more flavor. There's a decent sized line of tourist for these cash only restaurants to be ready to wait ~20 mins for yummy takeout fried chicken.

Straight forward & to the point. They have crispy pork & noodles, chicken feet, etc. i came strictly for the fried chicken wings and drumettes. For $4 I got three wings two drumettes, it was crispy and crunchy - the texture was on point. Flavor was decent, needed some more seasoning. Perfect snack while waiting in line for the bakery next door haha

Everyone is waiting in line for the dim sum place next door while missing some really amazing wings right under their noses. A lot of BBQ meats too; they're good but not anything that different from the other BBQ joints in Chinatown. So definitely load up on the chicken wings. Chicken Wings: The reputation is spot on, their wings are delicious! For starters, they only sell the drumettes which is the far superior half of the wing (compared to the wingette) due to the amount of meat, easy access to that meat and all the crispy skin surface area. The skin is super crispy, even after sitting under the warmer for a bit and being transferred home. And the taste is awesome, some sort of nice spice blend going on in the thin batter. Only downside is that they must be very high in sodium since eating a pound made me super thirsty an hour or two later. Char Siu Pork: Marinated heavily so there is flavor throughout. Thicker than jerky, but got some of that nice chewy texture. Definitely good alongside some rice since this is very intense. Crispy Roast Pork: Love the super crispy skin. The roast pork underneath is just ok. Not heavily marinated. Also, doesn't taste that great cold so you might want to warm it up a bit when you get home.

Seven years later, what's changed? A. New owners - I no longer see the older dudes with the gruff 'tudes. B. Staff - Two ladies manned the counter... what?! Unheard of in Chinatown back in the day. C. Lines - The line you see in front is, unlike days gone by, not for their famed fried baby drumsticks (drummettes), but it's the customers lining up for the trendy and inexpensive dim sum and buns next door. I ordered three party plates of food for surprise birthday party for my brother for a recent Sunday morning. I ordered three things: 1. Soy sauce supreme chow mein - Not the best I've had, but we finished 2/3rd of a 5 lb. pan. 2. BBQ pork chow mein - Again, getting what you pay for, not destination quality but certainly nice for a bargain meal. 3. Fried baby drummettes - This is their signature dish and the reason for lines in years gone by. Gourmet Kitchen, just four or five doors north, made their name for this until the owners either retired or sold the business many moons ago. Still very solid with a slight ginger and garlic flavor in the flour batter. Reheat them at low heat in the toaster oven and it's about the same. Warning: when doing this, pull a paper towel to soak the excess oil that permeates from the heating process. Kudos to this place for toiling on in the ever changing Chinatown carousel of business. Sadly, this is a growing trend as those neighborhood favorites continue to disappear. Perhaps, when the Central Subway Station is completed, we may not recognize Chinatown anymore. Time will tell.

I've been coming to this place ever since I was a little kid and I've never tasted fried chicken drumsticks remotely as good as New Golden Daisy's. This place is really a diamond in the rough. Their drumsticks is without a doubt the best I've ever had and what I associate Chinatown with. They're crispy on the outside and perfectly flavored on the inside. It's obviously best tasting while it's fresh out of the shop but it's just as delicious when it's cold after you've had it out for a few hours. I bought two pounds of fried chicken drumsticks and 1 pound of thick Chow mein under $20! In my opinion, this place doesn't really enforce social distancing much. They have a sign outside promoting social distancing, but while I was standing outside waiting for a customer to leave, another customer just walked in and the staff didn't say anything. This place is small and not big enough for two customers to be inside at the same time. The staff also told me to come in while the previous customer was still in there and that made me feel like they're not really taking social distancing very seriously. To sum it up, the food is perfectly awesome and my only concern is the safety and well-being of both the staff and customers.

Been going here for years and in my opinion this place has the best Chinese style fried chicken drummettes in all of SF and Bay Area! Lots of tasty items such as char siu, roast pork, duck, tofu, fried rice and chow mein. Very reasonable prices and great place to order large party trays as well.
