Very good food! Authentic Chinese cuisine! The 1st dish “Shredded pork with fresh potherb mustard” is very rare dish around the town. The 2nd is “minced meatball with cabbage in clear soup” is traditional dish in eastern China. Strongly recommend their dishes.

Google
The blandest Chinese food in Columbia. Borderline inedible. The fried rice wasn't fried. The egg drop soup was cold and had a funky odor. The chicken and broccoli was flavorless chicken floating in flavorless soy sauce. The broccoli was old and undercooked. Even the fortune cookie was stale as cardboard. Unfortunately, New Mandarin House remains as bad as it was ten years ago.

The owners are nice and welcoming. We stopped in for carry out and it only took about 20 minutes to order and get our food. We ended up getting the sweet and sour beef, sweet and sour pork ribs, beef bulgogi and crab rangoon. Everything tasted amazing! The sweet and sour dishes were not overly sweet which is what I was expecting. I will be going back for more.

Google
Staff were very kind and helpful! I had the jajangmyeong and generals chicken. Having two entrees isn’t really recommended, but I ate them both because they were both that yummy. Now I will enjoy my food coma

Google
Exceptionally good, one of the best in Columbia. Spicy sesame chicken, egg roll and crab rangoon with white rice

Google
Absolutely amazing. There is absolutely no reason for anyone to speak negatively of this place aside from self entitlement. The service was great, the food was true to culture and phenomenal. So everyone can get rid of their Panda Express expectations and come get some real mandarin food. 5 stars hands down they deserve better customers. They deserve more business.

Angelsinging22

Google
They have authentic Chinese dishes and American style ones. Their ducks, both steamed and crispy fried, are delicious. It only takes 15min to have take out ready.

Ding Haochen

Google
The ingredients are fresh, the cooking method is authentic, and it's incredibly delicious with rice.

Yelp
This place is the best Chinese place in Columbia !!!!! I have been ordering from them now for pick up numerous times over the last few months and have never been disappointed . General Tsao and Sesame Chicken always on our list - always fresh and real chicken and not just breading with chicken tossed in different sauces. Lots of good chicken meat in a delicious sesame sauce made upon my order and fresh when picked up - can't beat it. The General is the same - delicious, good quality meat and made when ordered and not just tossed fried chicken in a general sauce as you get it too often af other places. The service is always friendly! The restaurant is clean and easy to order and to pick up. Never waited too long, never was handed food that was not ready yet. New Mandarin House will continue to be my #1 Chinese restaurant in town.

Yelp
Decent chinese korean food here! I recommend the black bean noodles for anyone who hasn't tried it. It's my favorite go-to and there aren't much asian food around the area. The service is quick and friendly. The bulgogi was nice and filled with good veggies. Affordable prices!

Yelp
Food was okay, but super slow service. Might have been better if the waitress wasn't the only person working. Turns out she was also the hostess and the cook. Men's bathroom was nasty.

Matt C.

Yelp
Ordered carry out at 725 the restaurant said it would be ready at 805 I arrived at 8 they said 20 mins 45 mins later I'm still waiting received the carry out at 850 brought the food home NO rice with our meals

Yelp
This place has come back better than ever! The waitress is super friendly and they have some great take-out family deals too! The Ta Chin chicken had always been my favorite, but lately I wanted to venture off the "American" menu and try some of their authentic Korean cuisine. With a lot of help from the waitress, I fell in love with the Gan ja jang mein. They make fresh homemade noodles and then pour, what I can only describe as an American pot roast style of brown gravy with pork, onions, zucchini, and I believe I saw some shrimp in there too over the top of the noodles. It is an amazing dish! I did ask for some of their hot sauce to add heat to the dish.... It was perfect! I haven't had a bad meal there yet. My wife and I both like to try something new each time we go in. A must try little gem in Como when you are looking for great Chinese food!

Yelp
The quality of food is 1.5 stars and the speed/friendliness of service for takeout is 5 stars. It was $12.95 for the spicy sesame chicken that was 80% fried batter/sauce and 20% chicken (probably less). And the "fried rice" was literally just stale rice and soy sauce-no vegetables or seasoning. Threw away most of it because it was barely edible.

Yelp
I had not been back since they first opened. I had hoped with time things would have improved. That has not happened if today was an example. I ordered sweet and sour chicken with fried rice i got small chunks of tasteless over cooked chicken. The vegetables were raw and had a large helping of sticky fried rice. Our other order was the Lo mein combination which was soggy noodles 1. Shrimp 1 piece of chicken. I understand that these are difficult times for the restaurant industry but some places should close up and call it quits.

Yelp
Have tried several dishes from New Mandarín House and never been disappointed. Our current favorites are the BiBimBap and the Teriyaki Chicken. The staff is kind and the restaurant itself is nice for dine-in.

Rosemary H.

Yelp
I usually order pick up and never had a problem. My food was always hot, tasty, and fresh. I came back from a work trip and was so tired and ordered delivery from here. I won't be back at the Mandarin House for a long long time. My fried rice was smelly the beef inside it was raw inside and crab Rangoon was stale. Not to mention the sweet and sour has some kind of mucous looking thing that came out. I threw it all away. They really disappointed me. Idk who was working or cooking Thursday evening but they literally tried to make me sick. I don't forgive it.

Yelp
We used to eat here years ago but had some similar experiences as in the older reviews with rude staff - so we stopped coming here. However, it is advertised as being under new management so we thought we would give it a try again. As with some far eastern food establishments, the language barrier is amusing at times, but the wait-staff was always upbeat and attentive. Last night we went with friends and ordered 4 main course dishes. We also ordered 3 waters and one soda. The bill was $49.XX plus tip for everything. I got the General Tso's chicken, the other got Hunan Chicken, a shrimp/veggie dish, and Szechuan Chicken. All meals came with soup, pork egg rolls, and white or fried rice. Everything tasted pretty good and the service was fast and portion sizes were good. 3 stars is A-OK and it is definitely that.

Yelp
For starters, Mandarin House doesn't boast the greatest in your run-of-the-mill "Chinese" entrees. If you're not ordering the Special Jam Bong, or the Gan Ja Jang Mein, then your chances of disappointment in this establishment multiply tenfold. However, if you order these two dishes, you'll quickly find that Missouri's finest Asian noodle dishes are held away in secrecy at this restaurant held humbly in Columbia, Missouri. You'll be warmly greeted, but pay no mind to the menu as you've already know what to order as per this review. Mandarin House understands the soup, the sauce, and the fact that their noodles are hand-tossed and shredded from scratch ensures that these guys have no competition when it comes to how good these two dishes are. Simply put, the negative reviews are because you're looking in the wrong areas. Trust in this review; order these dishes. I promise you that you won't be disappointed, and that you won't find anything like it.

Yelp
This place is really good and consistent too. Veggies are always fresh, good rice and options. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Mandarin House is one of our favorite's for local Chinese cuisine. They offer a wide variety of dishes on their menu including lunch and dinner specials. My husband always gets chicken fried rice and I always get their beef with broccoli with egg drop soup. Their beef with broccoli is delicious and saucy and comes with an order of fried or white rice. It is always an even ratio of beef to broccoli, unlike some places where you get 3 pieces of broccoli for every piece of beef :( We also always get an order of Crab Rangoon which is the bomb - It's salty and a little bit sweet, always served warm and crispy. The egg drop soup is also amazing with tons of flavor! They have some not so good reviews, but we really enjoy their food! We have dined in the restaurant and carried out our food. The restaurant decor is kind of awful, but I go for the food, not their decor! If you can get past the decor, I promise you will enjoy your meal, they even have a couple tv's. When we order out, our food is always ready within 20 minutes, which is awesome. If you feel like trying something new out and you have a hankering for Chinese, this is worth a shot!

Ashley R.

Yelp
Probably the worst Chinese food I've had. Fried rice has NO vegetables. It's literally just crispy rice. Lo mein had lots of mushrooms, which is weird for Chinese food. Chicken fried rice was just rice and chicken...no egg or veggies. Very bland, no flavor. Waste of $40.

Yelp
I do not understand how this place is still in business. We ordered takeout, was given the wrong items - it took forever, and the taste was so unbearable we ended up throwing it out and making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Maybe we just caught the on a bad night, but for that reason alone we will not go back.

Yelp
Food is fantastic I had the generals chicken and it was the best I've had in columbia. My mom got the king Paolo chicken and loved it. The egg rolls were some of the best if not the best I've ever had. The hot and sour soup was good too.the lady that was serving us was very nice and upbeat, and gave great service, and the food came out very quickly. 10/10 would recommend and will be definitely going back.

Yelp
I have no idea whether or not the food is any good, or anything else about the place - except that they closed 40 minutes early on a Saturday night, so the drive over there (after checking their hours of operation online, and these were confirmed to be the same as the hours posted on the door) was wasted. I'm not going to be making that drive again. Close early - permanently lose customers. If you don't get enough business between 9 PM and 10 PM on a Saturday night - change your posted hours.

Vona K.

Yelp
Great place for an easy, vegetarian dinner. The vegetables are fresh and cooked just enough to still be crispy and flavorful. The veggie lo mein noodles are a great texture and flavor and include a good dose of yummy vegetables. The veggie fried rice is OK, could use more flavor, first time I see one without carrots and peas, but they provide a lot of fried egg and it goes well with their garlic broccoli dish. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and take out is always super fast 10-20 minutes! This is our go-to for Chinese take out.
google avatar

Yelp
Lion's Head soup is ok! Singapore Chow Mei Fun is the worst one of all meifun I ever ate. It taste lile plastic! I cant image the cooking way! Dont choose here if u have any another choice!

Yelp
Mandarin House is the 2nd best Chinese food in Columbia. This is the same restaurant that used to be located in the Columbia Mall and has since relocated -- they serve a lot of American-Chinese fare but also some more traditional Chinese / Korean dishes. I've visited the place a number of times over the last 9 years and haven't had any bad experiences! The service has always been good and the decor isn't too bad, considering the strip-mall location.
google avatar

Dusty W.

Yelp
Really pleased with the food. Love the general tsao chicken. And the triple delight! Ask for spicy and they'll also give you an extra container of spicy sauce - love it!!!
google avatar

Rich Z.

Yelp
I have never written a review for an establishment before but felt compelled after ordering from Mandarin House this evening, This was not only THE WORST chinese food that I've ever had, it was easily one of THE WORST MEALS I HAVE EVER HAD! My wife and I ordered combos of general tso's chicken and shrimp w/broccoli. The wonton soup had one measly small wonton and the soup was incredibly salty. General's chicken was horrific. It was charred and inedible. Please save your money and go someplace else! I hope this was just an "off night" for Mandarin House. I can assure you that we will not step foot in this restaurant again!

Yelp
Best Chinese and Korean Food I had in Columbia! They have variety selection of food and very good quality. Definitely try their MEATBALL, real authentic Chinese food. I will recommend this place to my friends and go back to try more.
google avatar

Yelp
I've had an intense loyalty to the Mandarin House for over a decade now. Their entrees are much tastier and less generic than say, House of Chow, even if their decor isn't as snazzy. The owner also spent some time in Korea / speaks Korean, so you can order some Korean dishes like japchae or kalbi from her. She's also very good at just giving recommendations for the table when you're feeling too tired to even order. My regular combos at lunch: shrimp with garlic sauce, beef with broccoli Entrees: kung pao shrimp, ja jang myun (Korean), jam bong
google avatar

Patricia S.

Yelp
Have had Bul go gi 3 times. On each occasion it was prepared well except for lacking flavor being a little dry. For some reason, the waitress and the cook were always reticent to provide the missing sauce. That's all that was needed to make it a sublime dish. The last time we ordered, we ordered bul go gi as carryout and specifically asked for additional sauce. Sure enough, it was dry and sauce deficient when we got it home. My husband actually went back to get the needed sauce, and was told that they didn't have enough to give us more. Really? We love the food but are unwilling to deal with this ridiculous stupidity. Mandarin house could be the best Asian food in columbia, but they aren't worth the aggravation. It's not fun to have plead for what should be provided without request.

Yelp
Posting because I have read some bad reviews. I had a great meal, and will definitely be back. I loved that I could make my "Spicy" Sesame Chicken mild. Lots of unique flavors. I also tried the Beef and Broccoli and it was good.
google avatar

Catherine R.

Yelp
The food was okay, but just okay. When I asked what was in one of the sauces, the woman at the register said "just ketchup and soy sauce". I did not order that dish. I got chicken with broccoli - it was pretty good. I was there for takeout at lunch, and they were busy with people eating in. As a result, the employee at the register was pretty short with me. I might try it again sometime, but I'm in no rush.

Alex D.

Yelp
Horrible!!!Worst General Chicken in world. Threw it away after one bite. The price does not match the quality. I would not eat it even you give money to me instead of I pay it. It is just that horrible.

Yelp
Craving Chinese while on travel for work.. I was excited to find this place and ordered immediately.. boy was I disappointed.. food was hard stomach. I would not recommend this place to anyone...

Yelp
After not eating at Mandarin House for a long time, we dropped in for dinner tonight and found that it is under new ownership. We were greeted at the door. The dining area was very clean and tastefully decorated. We ordered dinner specials. Egg drop soup was tasty, and our entrees were nice and spicy. I had the kung pao chicken. The chicken was tender, vegetables were crunchy, and the sauce was flavorful. My husband's twice-cooked pork was also very good. We will return to see what new items are added to the menu.

Veronica P.

Yelp
Tonight was my first time eating at New Mandarin House, and it was great! The owner was very welcoming and attentive. I asked for her recommendation out of three items that sounded good, and she chose the Beef Bulgogi. It was delicious!! I did the dinner combination with hot and sour soup, pork egg roll, and rice. I also ordered the crab rangoon. The whole meal was delicious! I will be back again soon!

Weston F.

Yelp
We were given a flier for this restaurant sometime after moving to Columbia, it sat on our fridge until one of those desperate Friday nights when we wanted take-out that wasn't pizza. The food isn't bad, and the delivery was fast enough. The driver was quite polite and was extremely non-confrontational. However, the price for what you get just seems high. In fairness I've been in a much smaller town for sometime, and my memories of Chinese takeout are from sometime back, but I remember being able to purchase two dinners and sometimes a side on specials for around $20 or at least close, not counting tip. I have yet to spend less than $30 here yet. I will continue patronizing the restaurant and it's delivery service, but I will use it less often than I might normally if I felt more comfortable with the price I pay for it.

Yelp
We ordered through Order Up - the food was exceptional - I even ordered a Korean dish and was very please with it. We will definitely order from them again.
google avatar

Tan U.

Yelp
Soy sauce flavored wonton soup, fried rice is mixed with white rice, food downhill since new ownership

CeeCee K.

Yelp
WARNING TO VEGETARIANS: I ordered the vegetable fried rice and found a piece of chicken in the mix of pieces of fried egg. When I confronted them about it and they made me a new one, Thank goodness our waitress was a vegetarian because they almost charged me for both orders. Also we ordered lo main with no mushrooms and there was mushrooms in it. The chicken was hard and broccoli was not fully cooked.

Leah H.

Yelp
Excellent food, excellent service -try the authentic menu! We had egg drop soup, jam bongs, king Paolo chicken, and chicken fried rice.

Kathrina S.

Yelp
We ordered delivery and waited for about an hour as suggested. We tried calling to see where our food was but no one answered. It said on Yelp and their site they were open. Guess we were just waiting an hour for nothing. Disappointing.
google avatar

Rebecca S.

Yelp
We had a really good experience here. The owners were extremely accommodating and friendly. The General Tso's Chicken was a house specialty. It was great. We got one dinner special, and it was enough for the two of us to share. This was our first time here and we will be back.
google avatar

Eric B.

Yelp
I used to love this place. However the food quality is way down. Couldn't even stomach the food. Won't be back

Luke C.

Yelp
Ordered delivery; food arrived quickly. Unfortunately, it was awful. I ordered the spicy orange chicken and opted for "very spicy." The sauce was thin and very bland. Tasteless, really. And the chicken tasted like fried balls of air. My party ordered other dishes, including General Tso's chicken (very mediocre). I really like American Chinese food, but this was appalling. Much better available in Columbia: ABC Chinese and Szechuan House come to mind.

Karen I.

Yelp
Dinner last evening from recommendation from a friend. Hot & Sour soup was more like chicken soup, no vinegar, bland taste. Ordered hot tea, came luke warm in tea pot, husbands iced tea, instant with undissolved powder chunks in it. They got entree wrong but quickly brought correct to us, which was just ok. Had to request appetizer twice. New owners clearly don't know what they are doing. ABC Chinese is much better choice.

E N.

Yelp
The hot and sour soup is fabulous. The crab rangoon is delicious. The service is ALWAYS wonderful. I highly recommend eating at this restaurant!
google avatar

Rob B.

Yelp
I've eaten at Mandarin House many times, and the food is significantly better than at most Chinese restaurants, including being less greasy. The service is great, and the quiet atmosphere and reasonable prices make it a great place to grab dinner.
google avatar

Sara N.

Yelp
Went here only once and I'm not that interested in coming back. I went during lunch time during the week and the place was basically empty except for myself. They had a small buffet if I can remember but I decided to order off the menu instead. I ordered some sesame chicken but I could tell it wasn't fresh at all. I debated even trying it, but I took a bite anyway and it certainly tasted bland and awful and soggy. I picked at it for about ten minutes, put my napkin over it to give it a decent burial and left very disappointed.

Mark O.

Yelp
This restaurant has progressively gone downhill and I'm not sure why. We recently ordered from there, and could not digest the chicken due to its stringiness. Personally, I chewed for what seemed like an entire minute, and decided not to swallow it. Instead, I spit it out. Worse yet, the management didn't seem to care, not offering us a replacement for our next order or anything. We now frequent a different Chinese restaurant. Good riddance.
google avatar

Ben C.

Yelp
This is the place to be for Korean-Chinese food. I believe the owners are Chinese that lived in Korea for awhile. The jja jang myun and jjom bbong are very good. The star of the show is the hot braised shrimp - or ggom bbong saeoo.

Sarah M.

Yelp
I literally just left and the staff were not friendly at all. They didn't say and didn't say bye. Doubt if I would ever return. I refuse to spend my money at a place that don't make me feel welcomed.

Brian K.

Yelp
Wonderful experience, very friendly staff, awesome food. The squid BBokUm was absolutely delicious. My son ordered beef with broccoli, and although a very common dish, it was probably the best I have ever tasted. Service was prompt and courteous. Will go again...many times.

Stuart P.

Yelp
The original Mandarin House in the Columbia Mall was one of our favorites. This location has relatively new ownership. The staff greeted us with smiles and a big hello. Service was very quick and we were treated great the entire meal. Our waitress was quick to bring us whatever we needed. We ordered the Generals chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Beef with Broccoli along with Crab Rangoon. The food was phenomenal. A lot of chinese restaurants you get grisly meat instead of real chicken or beef. This was real chicken and beef in huge portions. Our daughter even stated so out loud. The crab rangoon was so good that we devoured them in minutes. The only downside were the egg rolls which were okay but nothing special. I would highly recommend giving it a shot
