19 Dim Sum Restaurants in NYC | Eater NY

"Inside Flushing’s slick Queens Crossing Mall, New Mulan is a luxuriously draped dining room with cart-service dim sum and a broad-ranging, pristine product. Stuffed vegetables like green pepper and eggplant have a profuse shrimp-paste stuffing, the congee is offered with whatever you want to put into it, rice noodle rolls taste just-made, and all sorts of soups like West Lake beef are available to round out your dim sum meal. Sometimes plates are delivered by cat robots — but don’t be alarmed." - Eater Staff

The restaurant was very full and the tables were occupied by large families, luckily just when we entered there was a table available :) Unfortunately dim sum cars wouldn't pass by our table :( We had to chase the carts to be able to order something. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to eat anything. I would say the food is so-so. I've tried Dim Sum in different restaurants and almost all of them taste the same. I would recommend this place only if you come for a casual meeting with family/friends, drinking tea and talking while eating dim sum.

Had Christmas Dinner at New Mulan, it was an amazing experience. The dining hall looks like it was just renovated, it was very nice and clean. The Sashimi Platter was fabulous, fresh, and tasty, same with the Crispy Shrimp with Walnuts. The server we had was attentive. We will definitely come back again! If you are looking for Authentic Chinese food, New Mulan is a must-try!

I ordered scramble eggs with baby shrimps for lunch. Look what i posted. Its not the first time. I ordered General Tso's chicken over rice. They all are digusting. The rice wasnt good too. They used bad quality rice. Its not like good quality kind of rice moist. Its like near porridge rice. Even a child can cook better than you.

Service (5/5): we came in on a weeknight at 6pm and there was no other patrons so we were wined and dined by several staff until a few later parties arrived. They were courteous and tended to us often. Ambiance (5/5): They just renovated and reopened a month ago! The dining area is also used as a wedding venue spot as you can see the ornate table settings, beautiful decor, speaker systems, and a projector in the front advertising the space. There's also private rooms in the back. One particular one had karaoke going on (and we could hear it..) Food: Chicken with Eggplant casserole : It was very salty but I enjoyed the taste. It came out in a bubbling plate. Salted porkchops: Nice crunchy outer crust. Chicken w Broccoli: Very standard dish, slightly too salty but the chicken pieces were super tender! Broccoli was cooked to a perfect crunch. Singapore Noodles: Tasty! Fried flounder: I loved the crispy skin of the flounder. It tasted fresh. Steak w black pepper sauce: The chunks were tender but they were very large and needed a knife to make some smaller cuts. However the sauce was just alright.

With so many restaurants in Flushing, it's hard to compete. This is a classic Cantonese Family style dining restaurant. Night manager and staff are few in numbers on a weekday. I remember when this place used to be packed all the time. Food is very good but expect to pay the newer inflated prices. A standard banquet menu starts at $588 with about 8 dishes which include a lot of seafood and proteins. Still a good value given the portion sizes. Best dish is the baked pumpkin with oxtail. Excellent flavor and texture. Their marble goby is the fish to try as well as the steamed flounder. I personally liked the steamed oysters with vermicelli - in which you order by piece. They suggest one per person (not a sharing dish). And the classic Signature fried rice is good. This last visit I was there for a birthday party and we were given some freebies, nice touch. (Don't order the fried chicken, too dry).

I like all the dishes here. The staff are very helpful. We ate so much. I like the ambience. The seafood is on point. I do think more people should know about Cantonese places like this one. I definitely will come back.

Google
The food here are delicious. It usually gets busy in the afternoon, so you should come in the morning if you want to get a table. The staffs are polite and they circle every occupied table at set intervals. Therefore, you do not need to worry about the staffs not coming to you. Of course, you can also directly order a dish if you miss the cart.

Google
Pretty decent place for dim sum, lower prices during lunch time in weekdays. Some outstanding dishes, some normal ones, and something could be improved. Recommend: ✨radish cake, 💛pineapple bun, steamed little ribs NOT recommend: vegetable. They didn’t cook well, stems were hard to bite.

Yelp
Dim Sum me some more. Attended a UYE and had a great time met some Yelp peeps that I UFC and actually meeting them for the first time in person. Now, how cool is that. Great selection of Dim Sum items with staff coming over and inquiring which items you like to start. Best time to come here is Monday-Friday. All the Dim Sum cost only $3.95 from Monday to Friday which it a bargain. Grab a couple of friends and have a jolly time. The place was getting filled up as we shared and enjoy the Har Gow, Sui Mai, roast pork buns, etc... Have been here numerous of times with family and friends. New Mulan Seafood Restaurant is not far from the 7 train and is located on the second floor of the Queens Crossing. Pretty design and very spacious facility. Has a comfortable and inviting vibe. Staff is friendly and helpful. Staff came over and refilled the Pu-erh tea and Chrysanthemum tea at the table. Plan to come back for more Dim Sum and try other items that I have not had before.

Yelp
Holy Dim Sum! What an incredible time we had. New Mulan is an experience if you've never been to Dim Sum before. So fun, so good...let's get into it. Head to the 2nd floor of the building to a spacious dining room lined with large round tables that are filled with people enjoying a copious amount of smalls plates. We were seated right by the stage. Yes a stage! They hold a lot of events and weddings here. It must be such a wonderful and beautiful spectacle. I could totally see the potential in this room. The stage has a screen on it that shuffles through ads for local businesses in Flushing. Now the food... it was everything. Roast pork buns, fried taro and tripe spun around the table. My favorite was the salty egg bun. Not only does it look super cute with the decorated face, but it was sooooo scrumptious. Also the chrysanthemum tea was so light and refreshing. Best part, it was about 10 of us and all that food was $16 a person. Their weekday lunch is the was to go with such an incredible deal. You can bet I'll be doing lunch here a lot more for sure!

Yelp
This was an unbelievable-amazing-fun-experience that I can't wait to do again. My fellow Elite (Andie) messaged to invite me to this luncheon she was setting up in Flushing, an unofficial Yelp event. (UYE). There was no way I was going to miss this. Our Elite group here of 10 people are a very special makeup of people who love both good food and fun company. It was so nice to have our community managers from both Queens and Nassau.. Special KUDOS to both Samantha and Jared. This is not one of those easy-in-and outs off the main road or parkway. I drove to Flushing, parked in a lot and walked around the corner. The lots here are reasonably priced, (not like parking in NYC.) From that spot is was a simple walk around the corner enter building and take elevator to 2nd floor. This place is HUGE-BRIGHT-LIVELY with an amazing amount of electricity in the air. There is also a stage at the end which makes this a perfect spot for events too. Our table was at the end so I had to maneuver through the many carts filled with mountains of food being delivered to the different tables. I am afraid that I can't tell you all that I ate because I don't know any of the names of the items. The ones I know are the the pork and shrimp shumai, fried rice, beef tripe with ginger scallion, roast pork buns, and more... many many more. There are plenty of pictures of the food, and our group. I enjoyed everything and kept reaching out for more. That's the beauty of the dim sum meal. This was a great place, great atmosphere and great experience. KUDOs to the team at New Mulan Seafood Restaurant

Yelp
Pretty large restaurant located on the 2nd floor of Queens Crossing mall. We went during the weekend and it wasn't very crowded. We didn't need to wait for a table. Their dim sum prices is $5 per plate as of this review. The dim sum was average. They also have good prices for their specials (lobster with noodles and soft shelled crab sticky rice). The sticky rice was delicious. They open early for dim sum but won't start taking non dim sum orders until 11am.

Yelp
Dim Sum!!! I've been to New Mulan for dim sum several times, and each time was great. The restaurant is very spacious, and I appreciate that there was decent space between the tables. Service & hospitality were good. Dirty plates were removed quickly, empty teapots replenished often. The cart ladies did a good job displaying all the dim sum items. Note that the dim sum selections on a weekday differ slightly from the selections on a weekend; with weekend selections having a bit more variety. Both still very good. One advantage of going on a weekday is the price; with most dishes costing just $3.95 (excluding specialty items). I hosted an Unofficial Yelp Event (UYE) for 10 people on a weekday, and the cost was just $16 per person (including tax & tip!). What a bargain! We were all shocked! I would definitely return for dim sum again. Shout-out for all the Yelpers who came for dim sum today! Great to see everyone!

Yelp
This is a huge Dim Sum plan that can sit more than 438 people. They offer Hot specials at $3.98. The service was slow as you have to wait awhile for the dim sum carts. Their lobster noodle is really good. Overall no frills but solid dim sums.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Honestly, kind of meh. If I do go back I will have to opt for other dishes. We were originally going to go to Shabu Shabu hot pot next door and I wish we did because I love that place. I love dim sum but this kind of missed the mark for me. Maybe they just didn't have much variety today because it was Christmas eve. Or I just didn't choose the right items. Many items were very good, like the shrimp siumai and rice rolls. Very yummy. Others, like the hello kitty buns were not too great in my opinion. I'm not even sure what the hello kitty buns were filled with but it was sweet. The spring rolls we tried were good not great. The ladies with the carts round often so thats nice. Judging from what I saw, I may not have ordered correctly, because the noodle and rice dishes some of the other tables had ordered looked delicious. My mom and cousin also enjoyed a roast pork dish but I didn't love that either. I do think everything is priced well though. For 10+ dishes and 2 sodas the total was about $82. Not too bad. I think its worth a try if you are in the area and like dimsum, especially with a large group.

Yelp
Wow! Foods were on the lower price end in comparison to most other dim sum places because we were lucky enough to dine inside on a weekday. $3.95 for all SML dim sum, and we ordered a soft shall crab fried glutinous rice which tasted very good and fresh. Fried w it b soy sauce and the dish was full of soft shell crabs. Bill came out to $60 after tax, what an amazing deal! Service was fast and attentive, clean environment too! Please try when you're in queens!

Yelp
Came here for a banquet and for such a large restaurant, the bathroom was small and not in the best condition. The food was good , my favorite was the fried steak. Chicken and fried rice lacks flavor. Service was good as staffs were attentive. If you plan on having parties and renting out the entire area, one flaw is there are columns that will block your view to the stage. Unfortunately where our table was we were not able to see much. There are small TVs hung around the area where you can broadcast with the right equipment.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything was very decent here. The place could be hard to find, located located up a flight of stairs. There was plenty of space, without any need to wait on a holiday. I can imagine the weekends are probably more crowded though. I enjoyed every dish we got, minus a few. The beef tripe, which we confirmed the two times we got it, were too stiff, perhaps undercooked. The fried cheung fun were also too rigid. Their steamed buns also weren't very good. But what was their best was their decadent durian mochi, the creamiest I ever had, with the right amount of sweetness. I would come back and recommend for anyone looking for good traditional dim sum in the area.

Yelp
Came here for family dinner to celebrate my niece's birthday. It was a bit of a trek for me to come from Brooklyn, but you do things like this for the people you love. We had a reservation for 9 people and were sat early. There are two dining spaces -- we sat on the left while the right was reserved for a 100 day baby thing (both spaces could be used for banquet hall events, like weddings). The Good: -Ample space -Well decorated -Best dish was the soft shell crab glutinous rice -Stir fried steak with celery and shitake mushrooms was perfectly seasoned and cooked medium-rare/medium -The Chinese eggplant stuffed with shrimp was really good and flavourful The Meh: -Walnut shrimp had very little shrimp (maybe 10?) -The fried chicken with garlic was flavourless -The snow pea shoots needed more salt -They forgot our baked oyster dish until the very end at which point we had finished the rest of the dinner already. All in all, fine fare, but I'm not sure I needed to come all the way to Flushing for this.

Yelp
Came back with the family, had a large private room in the back, fits three large tables with own karaoke machine. We already had pre selected the dishes so when we arrived our group got settled in and started to karaoke! The service was excellent, constantly cleaning our dishes and refilling our teas. All of the dishes we had today were excellent! Such as the sashimi (salmon, uni and geoduck). Followed by lamb chops, beef with snap peas, fried lobster, amazing king crab (def a favorite), whole steamed fish, crab fried rice and veggies. It was a perfect blend of land and sea dishes. We love this place for our family gatherings!

Yelp
Of all The Chinese Restaurants that I have been to at the Flushing Chinatown Area.... I have to say that New Mulan Chinese Restaurant would be my most favorite that I have been to!!!!! Their Dim Sum Food Are So Delizioso Delicioso Delicious 可口的 Kěkǒu De!!!!!

Yelp
New Mulan is a classic Cantonese Family style restaurant. It's been here for at least ten years+ and still running. I was here several times over the years, perhaps I've never reviewed it. This visit we were here to celebrate my mom's birthday and was surprised to see the sparse number of people. But Flushing is now home to over 200+ restaurants and cafes so not entirely surprised that the traffic has dwindled. Definitely not the lack of their service and food, we had a fabulous time enjoying the great eats. It does run pricier than your smaller family style joints but I like the spacious dining room, it's wheelchair accessible and you don't feel crowded and packed in with neighboring tables. Our servers were very friendly and was responsive to random plate changes and drink requests. Highlights: the stewed oxtail baked in the pumpkin. It's a must try! And the geoduck was delicious, fair price of $55/lb. Can't complain, I don't know how to process it at home so when I can, I'll order it at a restaurant. The salmon sashimi was great too. Presentation was elegant and kept our seafood fresh. My kids enjoyed the house fried rice, loaded with ingredients - shrimp, diced ham, scallions, egg and onions. Think there was diced roast pork as well. It was perfectly cooked. I enjoyed the marble goby fish, loaded with scallions. It was a very pretty dish. The lamb lollipops are a must try as well. The restaurant provided fresh fruit and sweet soup (tapioca and red bean) as a dessert. Will totally return for our next big event.

Yelp
Service: 4/5 Food: 3.5/5 Ambiance: bustling, casual Standard dim sum place. Went on Mother's Day so the wait was longer than usual. What I Ordered: - Har Gow + Shu Mai: classic, decent. - Chive Dumplings: not quite chive-y enough for me - Lava Buns: cute, very runny, good. - BBQ Pork Pastry: good - Sticky Rice: good flavor, decent amount of chicken - Chicken Feet: okay - Beef Ribs: flavorful - Pork Ribs: a little too fatty - Shrimp Rice Roll + Crueller Rice Roll: classics, saucy, good. - King Soy Sauce Noodles: veggie heavy, good portion size - House Special Fried Rice: good variety of meats, decent portion size

Yelp
Came here for a wedding and the food was delicious. There's lots of TVs stationed around which is a plus. I don't think they have the best service but that's most asian places. This is located on the second floor and there's an elevator. The bathrooms are not the cleanest. Heard the dimsum here is delicious as well -- will come back and try!

Yelp
It's our first time and last time. Four of us went in for dim sum and asked for a table near the window, which were empty because we went there right around the time they opened. The lady ignored us, and seated us right at the entrance. She's got bad attitude towards us. They came to our table to take the bamboo steaming cages so many times because they need to reuse them without even changing our plates. My plate was filled with bones, so lost my appetite and didn't want to order more Dim Sum. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are so many other dim sum restaurants 2 or 3 mins away that taste way better.

Yelp
The menu at New Mulan is diverse, offering a range of Chinese dishes. While the food may not be groundbreaking, it's solid and satisfying. The cold appetizer platter we ordered was a delightful start to our meal, with a variety of tasty options. For our main dishes, we ordered the lobster, fish, and other seafood dishes. I must say that they were all delicious. The flavors were well-balanced, and the seafood was fresh. New Mulan is an ideal spot for family gatherings and celebrations. The standout feature of New Mulan is the private karaoke rooms with massive LED screens. The sound quality in these rooms is excellent, making it the perfect place to sing your heart out with friends and family. It's a fantastic option for those looking to enjoy a fun evening of karaoke. The combination of good food and karaoke makes it a unique and enjoyable experience for all ages. The private rooms also provide a sense of intimacy, making it perfect for those looking to enjoy a meal and sing to their heart's content without being disturbed. The service was attentive, and the staff helped us navigate the karaoke system and menu choices. They made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening.

Yelp
They have been running a all size dim sum promotion for $3.95. Food are decent if not greatest. If you don't want to spend a $8 Large size dim sum in this Post-Covid inflation madness, New Mulan is your choice. Service are ok. They serve you just right. This place is spacious, well air conditioned. I dined there alone and received the same good service. They also have quite a few wok fried noodles dishes and Chinese bbq offered in special prices.

Maria S.

Yelp
Great dim sum. Overall I like the food. Only reason I'm giving it 3 stars was because of one particular server. We asked for iced water and she rolled her eyes at me for no reason. She looked miserable and looked like she didn't wanna be there. Whether she had a personal issue or if it was just her personality, she shouldn't be working with that attitude or even be in hospitality business. I didn't need her to be overly friendly but at least be polite to customers. One rude server can ruin it for other servers who are actually doing their job right and deserve a good tip. I just didn't appreciate that.
google avatar

Yelp
Ate here today for my dad's cousin wedding. We all had shared together many different kinds of dishes as a whole family and truly had a great time. The food we all got was pretty good, decent and quite delicious. The service there was also attentive and really fast. We couldn't agree more. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time!
google avatar

Geoffrey N.

Yelp
Mulan has seen better days. While a staple in the heart of Flushing, it seems that Mulan only hires stereotypical rude servers with inflated egos. There is someone in our party who is sensitive to certain foods like garlic. We request that the chef omit any garlic in their food. The server apparently forgot to let the chef know and when we asked him about it, he would just yell out "Garlic?? There isn't any! Show me the garlic!". The server admitted he forgot but was still extremely confrontational. It was also apparent that the server put in "extra large" sizes of our order. There was just so many issues that our food was unpalatable and this reminds us that restaurants like Mulan better do better or be replaced by Din Tai Fung or Popeye's.
google avatar

Alice D.

Yelp
Came here right after opening time and we were seated quite quickly. The space is huge - tons of tables and room for carts to walk around the whole space. About half the tables were full by the time we got there, and when we were leaving, that had increased to maybe 3/4 of the space. Definitely a popular spot it seems! The variety of food they have is great - every dimsum dish you can think of available on a variety of carts. For one other person, I'd say that we got full after 8-10 dishes - if you come with a larger group, it'd be easier to try a bit more for sure. I'm always a fan of the rice noodles, siumai, chicken feet, and fried shrimp pastries. I wanted a bit of the tofu soup that I saw a cart for at the beginning of our meal, but it seemed by the end that the lady walking around serving it had disappeared. We waited several minutes and failed to flag anyone down to ask, so we just gave up on it. When we went to the front to pay, we saw the cart seemingly abandoned by the hot food station. Oh well. Overall, this spot is definitely a solid choice for your classic dimsum experience, albeit the service isn't perfect. There are a ton of people working, but it is hard to get someone's attention if you want more drinks or just are requesting a type of food. In the end, I would gladly come back anyway if I were craving dimsum, but just know the service left a little to be desired.

Yelp
Craving some Dim Sum, we ventured into Downtown Flushing on a Saturday. To my surprise, there was no wait walking into New Mulan at 11:30 AM? I remember the days when there was a half hour wait with the hostess screaming numbers, but I digress. Ambience: many of these Dim Sum restaurants double as old school Chinese banquet halls at night. They are a relic of a bygone nostalgic era, as the decor is right out of the 90's. Similar to how Chinese Takeouts all look pretty much the same, the Dim Sum Restaurants all look like each other as well. Food: this is the reason I come here, not for the decor or service, but for the food. All the usual favorites are there, but something feels off... is it possible that all of this stuff comes frozen from a central supplier? The dim sum lacks the freshness and flavor that I fondly remember. The tea pot has a tea bag inside???? WTF?! TL/DR: There is a saying that you can never go home again ... sadly, the wonderful Dim Sum Experience I remember growing up exists only in my memories.

Kelly R.

Yelp
The staff there was good, they spoke Cantonese and Mandarin. Sometimes it is better to point and pick what you want. Although packed during Saturday rush hour we are able to get 2 full tables for a guest of 14 people next to each other. In the restaurant you order food out of the rolling carts which come frequently and are stacked with the items that we want.  They have the classic Steam Shrimp rice noodle rolls, steam beef noodle rolls, Zhong zi, etc. One thing that I found surprising and interesting was that the Pineapple bread in the New Mulan actually has pineapple in there which I found cute.  Think about it: Pineapple fruit in pineapple bread!

Darren C.

Yelp
The food is amazing and I love it. They have so many to choice from that I can't start. The service is amaizng and they are very kind to you if you know Chinnes and some English. The ambiance is very big for more of 6 or up member kf your family

Yelp
Returned today on a Saturday 1 pm. Parked at associated garage (136-20 38th Ave). For parking, you pay $4 for / hours with a stamp from New Milan; free for 3 hours for dinner. No waiting line when we arrived at the restaurant. Service was good. They had dim sum carts and offered most popular dim sum items. We have to special order the 'hello kitty' yellow running custard boa. 奶黃流沙包。they were actually very tasty! Actually running filling inside. Other dim sum are ok. Nothing outstanding that I can think of. Comfortable seating. It's a big place compared to other restaurants. Cash and credit same price. Conclusion: Given the ease of parking and comfortable seating, we will return. Price is competitive. Weekday has dim sum discount $3.95 for all S/M/L dim sum.

Yelp
For a dim sum place, New Mulan hit the spot. We arrived around 1:30PM, so the restaurant was quite empty but there were still carts going around. Im honestly surprised this restaurant has pretty average ratings, but I'd say as far as classic dim sum dishes go, you can't go wrong with this place. Everything was still hot, and they had plenty to choose from. Pricing was average. Although I've had better, I'd still come back here for sure!!

Yelp
Although I've heard multiple people raving about this place -- how they travel all the way to queens just to have dim sum and/or dinner here, I had never been here except for this one time. I was here for a family banquet. I have to say it was quite disappointing considering all the good things I had supposedly heard about them. Presentation was ok but quality is lacking. The foods weren't as fresh as one would hope, to name a couple -- their fish and lobster. Flavors of certain dishes were lacking. And I must say, I've had better canned abalone than theirs. Perhaps some dishes were overcooked -- meats, they were dry. As someone who hardly ever goes to Queens to begin with, I would not come back here for food even when I am in the area. There are plenty of other choices around.

Yelp
Service was poor or non existent. The restaurant wasn't even an eighth filled. There were many wait staff standing around. Only the push cart staff were actually working. Dim sum on the food carts didn't look yummy delicious. It looked rather dry. We got there about 1 pm and there weren't many offerings. Taste was neither bad nor good. Just edible.

Yelp
Came for dinner so can't speak to their dimsum. Service is pretty good. Was very empty on a Friday night which surprised me. Veggies (Dou Miu - pea sprouts???) were very good! Didn't have century egg or salted egg which it normally does. Steamed fish was a bit pricey and very very over cooked - almost rubbery. Wouldn't recommend. It was o strange. Salt and garlic(?) pork chops also weren't great. Again a bit rubbery. I'd come back for the veggies and maybe try different entrees.

Yelp
Ok... I was super excited to get dimsum this weekend and was horribly disappointed. My bf picked this up from the second floor hoping it'd be more fresh than the togo section on the first floor. We were sadly mistaken. I don't know if it's because he went late (around 3pm) but the chicken feet was absolutely disgusting. It smelled sour and there's no way that was made fresh that day unless they left it outside in the 90 degree weather for 6 hours. I have a really sensitive nose and when I went in to take my first bite, I smelled it right away. This is usually one of my favorite dishes so that was a let down! The fried taro puff was also not fresh. It tasted stale and was probably refried as there was a layer of harder taro near the outside. The shui mai, ha cherng and ha gao were all decent. The egg tart was the only thing that I actually enjoyed. I actually called them to alert them about the chicken feet and the person who picked up the call offered to "credit" me. I thought they would just refund that cost but she said if I go there again next time, we could get a free chicken feet. I'm not sure if I'll make it back here though. The smelly chicken feet was a huge turn off and I can't really justify giving them another try, especially when there are other dimsum places in flushing.

Yelp
I came here with three other friends for dimsum this past Monday morning. I wish we had a group of 5-6 so we could get more variety and try other dimsums. There a few dimsum cart ladies going around (and they speak in Cantonese, so it helps if someone in the group speaks). It's hard to write a thorough review on every single thing we tried, so I'll list all of the ones we tried and highlight the ones I would order again, along with a list of options I wish I tried but didn't because we were too full. ** Items ordered ** - GOK FA CHA - Chrysanthemum tea is a classic and I'd recommend letting this brew in the pot for a bit before drinking - much more flavor when you wait! - SIU MAI - these were good and a staple, I'd recommend - FUNG ZAO - I really liked the black bean sauce for these, very delicious and tender, I'd HIGHLY recommend - LO BAK GO - these were pretty good, too, and our table really enjoyed them - HA CHEUNG - probably one of my favorites here, the crepes were thin and chewy and the texture was fantastic; shrimp was just OK - SIN JUK GYUN - yum, really liked the crunch from the mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and others; tofu skin is a classic - JI MA KAU - black sesame balls were chewy, delicious, and not too sweet; thoroughly enjoyed this sweeter dimsum option - CHA SIU BAO - don't remember much about them but I'd order these if I'm craving them again - GAM CIN TOU - steamed beef tripe is a classic but I got a little sick of them after a few; I'd only order if there's enough people who want to eat them - PEI DAAN SAU JUK ZUK - I liked the consistency and texture. The taste was delicious, too, but lots of rice and not much substance. I ate all the preserved egg & pork and as much porridge as possible, but still left a lot to waste - NO MAI - we got a really big sticky rice dumpling that wasn't wrapped in lotus leaf; it wasn't no mai gai?? I don't recommend this one because it was lots of rice/carbs and not much substance. Our table didn't finish :( We definitely got a couple others, but I'm forgetting some. Here's the list of items that looked good that I wish we ordered - HAR GOW, NO MAI GAI, LAU SA BAO, DAN TAT, PAI GWAT. Overall, food was pretty good and our dim sum cravings were satisfied for a small price of under $20 after tax/tip. I'd come back to this restaurant for dimsum in the future when I'm back in Flushing!

Yelp
This is the 2nd time I went to the Mulan at the food court on the balcony level and they made the same mistake. I ordered duck and chicken dark meat over rice. They gave me a chicken wing and the bone part of the shoulder. No duck. I can't see them chop the chicken as it is shielded to prevent splattering from chopping. Both times I threw it out because I hate chicken wings. it is too much trouble to go back. So I ate the rice and veggies.

Yelp
Pretty spacious, dim sum some were good and some were just a nono. Some dim sum were cold... Didn't have much dim sum cart going around when we got there around 12pm.

Yelp
My go to dimsum for take out and dine in. We love the baked roast pork buns, siew mai and sticky rice in the leaf among other typical dimsum dishes. Stopped by for pick up recently and saw they have dine in now during Covid which is exciting. You can see that the tables are kinda spaced out pretty well. You can always call to order for pick up or head to the food court on the first floor.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite dim sum places in Flushing. I have frequent here multiple times pre-COVID and during COVID. They have good safety precautions during the re-opening. They have contact tracing available, they check your temperature prior to seating, and the tables are socially distanced. They also spray disinfectant periodically around the restaurant. (I am not sure how safe it is if it lands on the food though) They have a wide variety of dim sum. I usually get the hai gow, siu ma, chicken feet, rice rolls, beef balls, radish cake, etc. They also have a lot of dishes to choose from for dinner. If you are looking for a place for dim sum in Flushing, definitely try this place out! I would say this place is a solid 3.5 stars. It is surprising that they only have an average 3 stars on Yelp. I will round up to see if this can boost their rating!

Yelp
Dimsum forever! If you are craving for dim-sum, this is the place to go! Location: It is located inside Queens Crossing Mall. It is a food court, so you have to order, pay and seat in a public table. Lot of food stalls here! Service: the servers are okay, just order and go! Food: my first time here. I ordered SIUMAI: it was delicious and delicate, you taste the UMAMI on every bite! STEAMED PORK RIBS: it was juicy and tasty. They put some pumpkin for flavor inside! MEATBALLS: sorry I don't know the name, but they are meatballs! Very juicy and huge balls. Price rating: 7/10, quite expensive, maybe because they are inside a mall. Definitely will come back here cause it was delicious! I will try next their pork buns and soups!

Yelp
Went there twice for dim sum. Went one evening for dinner. Both experiences were highly satisfactory. Good variety of dim sum items. Good selection of items for dinner.

Yelp
Came here for the first time for a banquet. Restaurant had a stage in the middle and was nicely decorated. Food was the usual Chinese course meals that they have in most banquet meals except the prices seemed to be higher than other places. Overall, everything tasted delicious and service was prompt for the amount of people there

Yelp
New Mulan has been a saving grace for me during Covid. I miss the hub bub of old ladies pushing dim sum carts with steaming plates of fresh dim sum and celebration dinners with many courses. Before Covid people were flocking here to dine in one of their grand ballrooms a larger one which is bright and bustling and if you're seated in the other ballroom you are treated to a room with a slight elegance decorated with hanging crystals, richer tones, and a quieter dining experience. Plus I have never waited longer than 20 minutes for a table. During isolation I needed my creature comforts and I especially missed having dim sum. Several times I have come to order take out on their regular floor upstairs where their restaurant is. There was a table separating and small plastic sheet. They were taking care to spray after each person would come up to the register to order or pick up. All my regular goodies were available like silky beef or shrimp rice rolls, shumai, hearty beef balls, and shrimp har gow. They also had my favorite late night dishes of young chow fried rice and chow fun and seafood pan fried noodles. They are known for their lobster noodles but unfortunately I have not been able to try it yet. They used to also have fun juice drinks with character heads on top for the kiddies too. They now share outdoor seating downstairs in the food court area outside on their small plaza-like area near Paris Baguette. Although it is not the same dim sum experience as before Covid the one upside is that I no longer have to share my dim sum, like having a whole rice roll or plate of har gow to myself but you can if you want to. Now the only thing missing from my yum cha experience is the tea but there is always bubbletea you can get downstairs in Queens Crossing while waiting for your order. Customer service has also been very good. I can order by phone and then pick up and pay in person to reduce the time spent waiting there. The price for the dim sum also seemed to be the same. I once had an issue with a bill but the cashier was patient enough to explain it to me. Overall good reliable place to get dim sum and other traditional Chinese dishes.

Yelp
I came with a party of four at 10:30 on a holiday weekend, and the banquet hall was already bustling and about half full (likely to be completely full in an hour's time). Our table was near the kitchen door, which guaranteed priority access to the dim sum carts; we didn't have trouble flagging down any carts, but given how large the space is, we could see some of the tables getting less love. New Mulan had a pretty good selection of standard dim sum items, and the majority of them seemed fresh. Highlights were the pork preserved egg congee, fried dough stick rice rolls, tripe, shumai, and salted egg custard buns (in cute hello kitty shapes!). I would pass on the taro puffs (strangely fishy). It met our expectations as a run-of-the-mill dim sum parlor in Flushing with hot tea and freshly steamed dishes.

Yelp
I can't complain about the one upstairs. Thus far they've served us with great food. But! the New Mulan Express downstairs is a definitely no for me. I felt like it's whatever they couldn't sell they push the left overs downstairs AT PREMIUM prices. 4 orders for $20 !? and it's NOT EVEN LUKE WARM! Felt like I was eating it right out of the fridge. You would think the steam around them gives it the affect that the food is still piping hot. There's SO much more better options out there in Flushing. I would NOT recommend the New Mulan Express downstairs. Since I couldn't find a check in for the express and by default it is associated BY this restaurant it has to fall into their ratings here.

Yelp
Came for dinner and everything was surprisingly good! The favorite was the eggplant casserole dish. Great flavor! Prices were reasonable. Tables weren't packed tightly together like other Cantonese restaurants so it felt comfortable. Service was good and food came out quickly.

Yelp
New Mulan is part of our dim sum rotation and we've been coming here for a few years now. it's located in Queens Crossing and i felt like it has slightly less traffic due to its location. pre-Covid days, there's usually a crowd on the weekends, but it's not as bad as other spots. the restaurant is actually consisted of a banquet hall and a slightly smaller, more quaint restaurant across the hall. we do prefer sitting in the banquet hall tho, seems like the dim sum carts come around more frequently. they're not doing indoor dining right now, but they are offering take-out in the food court. quality, taste, and portion seemed to be on par as before. i was able to get 6 dim sum items for $28, not too bad IMO. it's worth noting that they're cash-only at this time. will return again to grab dim sum and Kung Fu Tea that's located in the food court as well!

Yelp
I've been to New Mulan a couple times before, but not for dim sum in awhile. We were seated and served immediately. The food was delicious and seemed fresh. I recall it being hard to get a table when it's busy, so perhaps it should be taken into account that we did not go on a weekend or a particularly busy time.
