I had a wonderful experience at New Orleans East Hospital. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with professionalism, kindness, and a genuine sense of care. The staff—from the nurses and doctors to the housekeeping and administrative team—were attentive, compassionate, and highly skilled. The facility itself is clean, organized, and well-maintained, which made me feel safe and comfortable throughout my visit. I especially appreciated how the staff took the time to explain procedures clearly and ensured I felt informed and supported every step of the way. New Orleans East Hospital truly serves the community with heart. It’s clear that the team is committed to providing quality care and making a difference in patients’ lives. I’m grateful for the service I received and would highly recommend NOEH to anyone in need of medical care.

Three words can describe my experience at New Orleans East Hospital: Professional, Friendly, and Attentive. I was seen by Dr. Khan (GI doctor) and his team for my first colonoscopy. I was nervous, but everyone was so kind and reassuring. Truly an extraordinary hospital experience.

Overall my experience at New Orleans East Hospital was a pleasant surprise. As a NOE resident I wanted to start receiving some of my health care closer to home. My primary physician scheduled two preventative procedures at NOE Hospital. Although feeling a little apprehensive about this hospital and some negative reviews, through much prayer I decided to utilize the health resources and trust the medical processes and procedures. The outcome of both procedures were top notch. The attention and care given by the nursing staff, technicians, and doctor performed at a level above my expectations. The NOE Hospital provided me with professional healthcare services and an environment that was neat, clean and sterile. By the way, the cafeteria food is great too! I also have two family members who previously utilized the hospital emergency room. That experience was excellent as well. Although both family members could not be treated at NOE Hospital, the medical team stabilized them then transferred them to the appropriate hospitals that specialized in their medical needs. That exhibited professional management and great communication between the affiliated hospitals (UMC and Tulane). Thank you NOE Hospital!

This statement gets five stars from a Doctor who works at New East Hospital. “DO NOT EVER COME HERE BECAUSE I CANNOT GET THEM TO ANSWER THE TELEPHONE.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I called a specific department anyway, it went to voicemail, and the message stated that someone will contact you in 72 hours.

The staff was helpful and friendly, this was my first time as a patient in the emergency room. It was clean and I felt safe. My problem was addressed in a timely manner. I also received a call after my visit.

I want to thank the emergency staff, super fast, friendly. I arrived with severe gastroenteritis, crying, and the doctors and nurses calmed me down immediately. I am very grateful to the hospital, from the reception to the infirmary.

Yelp
IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR LOVED ONES, PLEASE DONT BRING THEM HERE!!!! My experience with this hospital was HORRIFIC!!!!! My grandmother was admitted here and after finding out she was in need of surgery, she was assigned a surgeon. A surgeon with little to NO experience with her surgery. At this point my grandmothers surgery was urgent. We requested to have her discharged so we can admit her to a different hospital for a more experienced surgeon. They REFUSED! They tried to keep my grandmother here against her will, after begging to please let her out. We had to literally call family to come to this hospital and get her out the bed. They REFUSED to transport her with an ambulance because they were upset we were leaving. We transferred her with our own vehicle and University literally save her life!!!!

Yelp
I had an appointment on 6-22-2025. My appointment was scheduled for 8:00 am. With no waiting in the waiting area it took 2hrs for the ultra sound dept to come get me. The same lady that passed by in the lobby at 9:00 was the same lady that works in the ultra sound dept she was just coming to work. I was scheduled for an 8:00am and wasn't seen til 2hrs later.

Yelp
My mom had a knee replacement surgery and the experience leaving was a blessing because we had two angels Caroline and Ashley assisted us to loading my mom to the vehicle. They were very helpful in getting in the vehicle. God bless these two ladies from the 3rd floor Caroline and Ashley.

Yelp
Honestly, this place don't deserve my 1 star review but Yelp doesn't allow giving 0 stars. My aunt had a horrible experience here. The nurse supervisor Denny refused my aunt to leave to have surgery at another hospital after they took over a week to decide that they would perform a surgery. BTW, University Hospital performed the surgery in less than 24 hours. I wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone! It's sad to experience this type of treatment from healthcare providers. DON'T GO THERE WE DESERVE BETTER FOR US AND OUR LOVE ONES!

Yelp
I visited The New Orleans East Hospital, One day, Out of Curiosity. I found, The Security and Staff, Displayed, An Astonishingly High Degree of Intellectual Skills and was filled with Admiration and Great Reverence!!!! I Applaud their Unprepared Readiness; Especially, Because, I was an Uninvited Guest... But Sincerely, Enjoyed, My Brief, Much Worthy Visit!!! By, The Way, The Food was just, To Perfection!!!!! May The Entire Facilitators and Staff... Continue to be "BLESSED"; As True Front Runners of, "OUR HEAVENLY FATHER"!!!!!

Yelp
I have heard so many critiques about this hospital, but let me tell you. You have to go experience for yourself. I switched my pharmacy to the pharmacy in the hospital. Everybody I met was so nice. They greeted me and smiled. And this skinny little lady so pretty though made sure I had everything I came for and walked with me back to the entrance after I got my prescription. These folks feel like family and I like that.

Yelp
Dear LCMC, I am emailing you on behalf of my husband, active duty member FCA3 Kenneth B Pearson. jr.; in regards to his ER visit on the 29th day of December 2021 at the New Orleans East hospital. At approximately, 5:30pm my husband checked into the Emergency room because he had become very ill. His symptoms included: vomiting, severe stomach pain, fever, & headache. Jenna Gypso, was the receptionist checking in patients that night. I overheard Gypso talking to my husband in a very disrespectful and unprofessional manner. My husband was in excruciating pain and Gypso could care less. She told him to "go sit down" as if he were an animal. I have two small children and I assure you ,we have never spoken to them with such a vicious tone. Jenna was very hostile to him and several other patients. So I went up to get her name. While doing so, Jenna screamed for security simply because I asked for her last name. She followed me on to the elevator and made false claims of harassment. The security guard saw that I was very polite and did nothing but watch Jenna be very dramatic and watched her microagression. I felt I needed security because she was so thuggish. So many black Americans have suffered at the hands of health care workers like Jenna Gypso because of our disparities. After hearing the way she spoke to him I knew I needed to make everyone aware of trash that's working our community. No one deserves to be spoken to that way! Especially when their in dyer need of medical attention. I really hope she is reprimanded for her hostile behavior in a work space that is supposed to be a safe environment. Racist people like Jenna Gypso should NOT be working in health care where so many people of color are being treated for their medical needs. I had to drive my husband across town to receive the medical attention he needed. Being that he serves his country everyday something needs to be done so no one else receives this hateful treatment from Gypso or any other racist working in health care. Sincerely, Denikqa Murphy

Yelp
I strongly do not recommend this hospital to anyone even if your dying serious. My friends including has had the most terrible experience yet from any hospital. You have to wait at east four and a half hours to see anyone by then the pains do to my health problem had worsen. There was a child who passed and all they gave her was an ice pack. After the fourth hour waiting room was completely pack including me. Patients were very frustrated. Parents with sick kids were literally loosing it. Every time a patient would ask after a room , staff would be rude an give us all types of excuses.

Yelp
I visited a cousin at the hospital. I was there for 2 days. During the time I was there, the staff was super courteous and timely. If she rang, they were able to meet her needs immediately. When she couldn't handle the cafeteria food, they provided snacks from their personal fridge. They didn't enter the room too often but they also didn't leave her there as if she were alone. I was impressed with the service.

Yelp
If you're HIV positive, steer clear of this hospital. When you're put in ICU, then told you're being discharged the next day. This practice is only FAST TRACKING its infectious patients without following thru. I have called, every so call authority figure and asked that our conversation be recorded response "I'll MAKE NOTE OF OUR CALL" Others have complained about this hospital but my spouse wanted to give it a try. I tried having him transferred to another hospital, but they claimed its not something they do. They refused to allow him to get his meds out of his truck, so for 4 days he was unable to take his HIV meds. He is 68, weighs approx. 128lbs. and his condition is poor. I wish not another patient goes thru this. This is only a brief summary of what happened. Not going to get into the testicle Right lump went untreated until I called everybody at this piss poor hospital.

Yelp
I took my daughter into the ER with vision loss, while waiting I noticed that everyone was sitting in close proximity of each other and some unmasked.I noticed how disgustingly unclean the Hospital was. While In Triage with Nurse Rachel she's texting with her Ex Husband, she actually laughs and says he won't stop texting her. I'm not sure why she thought it was appropriate, as we were there for an Emergency! Spoke to Ashley who said she spoke to Rachel and that the area would be cleaned. A worker came out with spray and sprayed around the room.Security asked what was she doing? She says I got a phone call that someone complained about the smell in here. Ashley came out and stated that we were up next and we were only waiting on a bed.We waited from 10:35 am until afternoon before we were taken to the back. EVS worker wiped off the hand sanitizing station and proceeded to talk with another worker while rolling around a trash can and discussing my complaint. I was afraid that we would actually leave sicker than we came in. Once in the back we asked if my daughter needed to submit urine. We were told no, so she went to the restroom which had an elderly person in a gown alone with the door open. We were directed to another restroom which was deplorable! As soon as my daughter returns to the room a paramedic enters and states he needs a urine sample. We were just told no. Imagine the disgust in having to prolong the visit and wait to have to use the restroom again. One Dr. came in my the name of Dr. O while my daughter was out finally getting a urine sample. She said she would return right back. Not only did she not return but we waited some time for another Dr. to come in. Dr. Hue enters and states we need an MRI, which I'm not understanding because I would think it would be an CT scan but ok. At some point the same EVS worker enters our room and grabs a trash bag. Not even two minutes later a Nurse enters the room and state that we can't stay in the room. I'm not understanding this because you have us crammed in a filthy waiting area with some unmasked individuals but we can't stay in the room with my daughter due to co vid restrictions. They started at IV on my daughter and we waited. It's now 1:50 pm and I go to ask what is the problem? As I'm ready to take my daughter to another Hospital! Dr Hue said someone is on the way right now for my daughter to get the MRI. At 2:15 pm daughter is trembling and says that the arm with the IV is painful.Call for a Nurse at 2:15 pm no one shows up! I go out into the Hall and I see Dr. Hue, I tell her that we are leaving and going to another Hospital. She says we can't stop you but do I want to wait because it won't be much longer. They were waiting for my daughters labs before they could do the MRI.So now I'm like that's not what you said before. I go to speak with Ashley and suddenly she is busy after she has been sitting at the Nurses Station. At that point I was terribly annoyed, I felt unsafe, I felt we didn't matter and that my daughter wasn't being provided good care and I was ready to go! My daughter stated she wanted to stay because she felt pretty bad and as if she couldn't walk. So I went outside for some fresh air at 2:36 pm and my daughter was eventually taken for the MRI while I was downstairs. While leaving the floor I noticed an terrible odor of feces only to pass a room where the door wasn't closed completely and two Nurses in full PPE gear/ blue suits were changing a patient. Once my daughter went down for the MRI, the person performing the MRI apologized and stated that she was at home on call. The lack of cleanliness, the rudeness of the staff and the fact that a worker would be so bold to discuss a complaint with customers around tells me that no one seems to be held accountable for their actions here.My daughter was released and not in any better shape than we came. She wasn't able to get the MRI because she was trembling too bad. The best part of the entire visit was the male Paramedic that treated me daughter in the back. Not one other encounter outside of that was good! In fact not only will we not ever return but I wouldn't send my pet frog for treatment! I will make sure that others in my Community are informed about the facility and the lack of care and cleanliness! The dirt didn't just get there, that's things that accumulated over time. Anytime the EVS worker can stand around and talk while a place is unclean, well this is what you get. The fact that no one has addressed those issues is also a problem! If I were a Nurse and I couldn't provide great service and be caring then, I would find another profession; this isn't the profession for those who don't give their all everyday! People rely on you when they're down and are at their weakest point. I rather go somewhere further and take my chances than be taken here! Released at 3:50

Yelp
Best kept secret in New Orleans!!!! Injured my ankle at work. I was transported to New Orleans East Hospital. Entered the Emergency Room in great pain the staff was extremely professional from the intake staff to the X-Ray technicians. Expecting to wait 4 to 6 hours my injury was assessed and treated within a hour and a half. While I do not look forward to injuries or sickness I will definitely head from the Westbank where I reside to New Orleans East Hospital. I would like to thank the professionals for handling my medical care. Truly grateful.

Yelp
Had an MRI scheduled here. Strange because my doctors office is uptown but nevertheless I showed up for my 2:30 spot at 2:15. First thing I noticed is the hospital is EMPTY. You hardly see anyone. Then I learn that the tech who was supposed to do my MRI couldn't come in - and they never called anybody to replace him!! The staff was very nice and a gentleman named Eldon said they would get someone. Very sweet. Well I waited an hour and 40 mins. The tech was also very nice and had to come from another job to do this scan. We get started, I'm in the machine and it breaks down! Maintenance had to be called to change s filter or something. That took 30 mins. Reboot the machine - 10 mins. Scanning starts - and the machine breaks down again. I'm walking out the door 3 hrs and 45 mins after my appt time without a completed MRI. And they want me to come back???? Never.

Yelp
Worst hospital in New Orleans. If you have an emergency , I highly recommend going somewhere else. I ended up leaving after waiting 2 hours and the doctor trying to rush me and then leaving the room again for 30 mins . It was a terrible morning and experience. When you are hurting, that's not at all what you want. Go else where !

Yelp
My name Tasia Williams I was there a few days ago , & I have sickle cell the doctors treat sickle cell patients bad as if all are there for the drugs . I only have crisis once or twice a year which I've explained that to both doctors . Well any way both doctors discharge me twice and I still was feeling horrible told both doctors I was having chest pain nothing was done so I went to university hospital only to find out I had PNEUMONIA! One doctor gave me dilaudid for pain I asked him for Benadryl his response was what for I told him the pain meds makes me itch real bad. This not the first time that I've Experience this problem at that hospital

Yelp
Went to emergency room for a kidney stone. It started to get a little busy once I got there. But I was still back within 30 minutes! Everyone is incredibly nice and helpful. My doctor even referred me to a urologist at the same hospital. I would definitely recommend and will be back for any needs I might have.

Yelp
Horrible experience. Had an appointment scheduled for 1/6/2020 only to get there and be told that my appointment was cancelled without even a phone call from the staff. Received another call to schedule an appointment again on 1/23/2020. Appointment was scheduled for 2pm. Arrived there at 1:40pm filling out the paperwork heard my name called only to get to the window and be told that the appointment was cancelled. This hospital is a waste to the taxpayers dollars. Very incompetent staff. What a shame the facility is very beautiful. Will never go back there again.
