Yelp
Food was good, not great, but satisfied a craving for Indian food. I'd give it 3.5 stars if I could. Came for lunch and rather than a buffet, they offer a Thali Plate where you can choose three mains with rice and naan for $11.00. They serve you at the counter and you can take your platter and sit anywhere in the spacious dining room. For a restaurant that doesn't get a large crowd at lunchtime, this is a smart business move.
We all agreed that the standout, by far, was the Chicken Tikka Masala. The tandoori cooked chicken was super moist and the butter tomato sauce creamy and flavorful. I mean, what's not to love about butter, tomato and cream?! Plenty of sauce for the rice and naan to soak up, and plenty of meat. Next time I will get two helpings of this!
The Yogurt Curry, a vegetarian dish, was another standout. The yellow curry had a distinct tangy flavor from the yogurt and the roasted veggies were delicious. Large pieces of cauliflower, onion and other veggies plus the perfect blend of spice made this dish very satisfying.
The Chicken Mutter, usually a favorite, was just ok. The chicken had a shredded texture and the tomato and pea sauce was salty. All three of us selected this as one of our mains and none of us finished it.
Saag anything is my favorite. Usually I order with paneer but they didn't offer paneer dishes as an option, a disappointment, so I ordered Saag Chicken for one of my mains. The dish was so salty that I took a few bites and left the rest.
The basmati rice was cooked perfectly and plentiful, enough to have some with all three sides. The naan was very thin and didn't have the buttery flavor I prefer.
For $11.00, this was a lot of food, enough for two meals if you liked your selections. Next time I will double the chicken Masala and have the curry as my third main to round it out.
Customer service was great. Since it is counter service at lunch time, our interaction was limited; however, the three of us had a lot of catching up to do so stayed well past their 2:30 closing time. Never once did they make us feel uncomfortable; they told us to stay as long as we wanted but let us know they would be running the vacuum!
Since this restaurant is close to my home and I love Indian food, I will give it another try. Next time I will go for dinner when I can sample the Lamb Khorma and maybe some Samosa.
