Sweetbitter Season 1, Episode 6: ‘It’s Mine’ Recap | Eater

"A high-pressure New York City restaurant where late nights, drugs and after-hours debauchery bleed into service; the staff operates as a tight, protective unit even as secrets and romances complicate things. The episode centers on Tess’s bid to become a backwaiter: she leaves a nearly-dead coworker to take a lengthy written exam administered by Will, struggles to finish it, and fumbles during service — grabbing the wrong bottle (a 1996 vintage instead of a 2006) and tumbling down the stairs while carrying plates. In the wine cellar she overhears a tense conversation revealing that Simone had an affair with a regular known as Fred, and later sees bartender Jake threaten that same customer, prompting manager Howard to threaten disciplinary action; Simone gives Tess lavender and a cryptic “be careful” warning, and though Simone doubts Tess’s readiness, Howard ultimately hires her on instinct. Through the mishaps and interpersonal drama — from romantic entanglements to fights over discretion — the place comes across as brutal but magnetic, defined by its rituals (the backwaiter exam, wine knowledge) and by employees who fiercely want to belong." - Greg Morabito

Although the reviews for this place were quite mixed, we had a really good experience in the shop and we enjoyed it very much. The concept is very cool and they offer some very unique products. It is a must see around the area!

Beautiful store, excellent quality clothes & items, just be prepared TO SPEND. This is in a fancy part of Manhattan and oh boy do the prices reflect this!! Well worth a visit regardless, you’ll definitely want to purchase something

I purchased a piece of art online from New York or Nowhere and was disappointed to find that it arrived without a frame, even though the photo on the website showed it framed. That was my mistake for not reading the fine print, but I went to the store in person to try to return it, completely unopened, and was told that all sales are final. Unfortunately, the store has a strict no-return policy, even for brand-new items. I recommend being very careful when purchasing from this store and double, checking all the product details before placing an order. Their return policy is very limited, and customer flexibility is not part of their approach.

good location but parking is a challenge as always with NYC. Inside was neat and bright and goods were nicely arranged. It was their “Yankees” drop during our visit and they had most items available then. Design and quality are good and I like that it feels somewhat exclusive for now as this is their only physical shop (if im not mistaken; although they do have an online store). There is no fitting room which is kinda weird when what youre selling is mostly clothing. Staff we encountered during our visit was nice though and even gave us a complimentary sticker!

Aesthetic and nice store. If you’re looking to buy something unique this is your place. They have hats, hoodies, stickers and much more.

Yesterday, my senior citizen sister, who is visiting from Europe, came to this store in 90° heat and 90% humidity to buy shirts for her grandchildren. She was stopped at the door and told the store was “full”—a claim that was clearly false. When she explained that she couldn’t wait outside in the extreme heat, the door attendant rudely told her he didn’t care and that it was “management’s policy.” When she asked to speak to a manager, he flatly refused and told her again to wait outside. How incredibly arrogant and inconsiderate. Apparently, this brand doesn’t care about sales—or basic decency. NYC is full of kind, professional retail staff. This store could learn a thing or two from them. This level of disrespect is unacceptable.

I love the aesthetics of this store and they have one of each on display and then you ask for sizes. Got the NYON tshirt, and the cozy sweatshirt in green.
