Always worth a trip to hear and see the New York Philharmonic play. No matter the program, the experience of listening to a live orchestra quiets the mind. The Wu Tsai theater is beautiful, visually and acoustically. Treat yourself if you can. It is worth it.

As each performance is different and world-class, I can only comment on the facility: coat / bag check is convenient and affordable ($5); the staff is wonderfully friendly and helpful!

A must if you love music and live in the city. One of those New York establishments that are absolutely worth experiencing at least once (or more than once if you love classical music). The new David Geffen Hall has great new options for classic and speciality shows. Pro tips: 1. If you want to see a show, go to the speciality show 2. If you want a new point of view, sit behind the orchestra

The NYPhil with Daniel Harding conducting performed another outstanding concert tonight...The Strauss was so beautiful & thought-provoking-- the brass, winds &percussion sections were world-class tonight ...Paul Lewis gave an excellent performance of the Grieg Piano Concerto...wow the third movement was just magnificent...with such amazing accompaniment from strings...Bravo everyone🙏

Beware of their Absolute NO REFUND policy! NO guarantee on seat/program/date. NO Refund. NO exchange to concert in next season. I will not support NYPhil anymore. I do not support an organization that does not take responsibilities and only cares about money $$$. I purchased a nearly $200 dollar ticket and was notified 6 days before the concert of the performers and program change! I spoke with 4 people in their customer relations team, including two staff to supervisor Andrew.H and director Patrick. Absolutely no refund. Their exchange policy is EXTREMELY limited, the ticket can only be exchanged to something in the SAME season which ends in 5 months and we all know that a lot of the concerts are sold out or with only very limited seat options left. I suggested alternatives such as partial refund, save the credit to next season, all suggestions were rejected. They kept saying I can “donate” the ticket value to them, I had to repeat myself numerous times that donating is not what I want to do. Their response were cold hearted and made me think that they are in fact a fund raising team and only cares about money. NYPhil push all responsibility to customers even it is them who can not deliver. I tried and I was not able to get my money back.

Had an amazing experience listening to symphonies.Easy access for elderlies and good security .Staff is friendly and everything is organized well and in Time.If you love opera or theater , you should definitely add this place in your list to listen to.They have the best placed speakers that reaches seats from balcony as well as the last seat on the floor .

Went on special promotion, Phil The Hall. First time. It was awesome. Knew most of music. Staff was great. Great night. For encore they played theme to Star Wars.

Of course it’s great. Don’t get sick before going it makes you fall asleep easily.

Also Sprach Zaranthusa was my second performance here in a month and first of 2025! I have sat on multiple levels and this venue truly does not have a bad seat for orchestral performances. The venue is well-designed and feels quite modern. There is a bar downstairs for pre-performance drinks as well as a bar on the first tier where you can pre-order drinks for intermission and avoid the lines. Pro-tip - get your drink first then use the restroom because the lines tend to be non-existent in the latter half of the intermission. Very much looking forward to my next opportunity to enjoy a performance here!

New York Philharmonic has a lot to offer all year. They bring the performance to the citizens of New York City each summer in Central Park. This year they perform June 12 and afterward there is a firewood display. Bring your blanket, drinks and snacks to Central Park early to get a good view. Let's hope the weather cooperates!

Why was this the most amazing NY experience ever? Live music, especially a live orchestra truly hits different. I got to watch West Side Story and it was the most amazing experience ever. Some of the things I loved about this experience include: - I was able to snag less than $60 seats at the third row right in the center, which I was so stocked about. I think the only other areas at this price were in the third balcony, so I felt extremely lucky to be able to have this experience so close up. - What a treat to hear from the original orchestra that played the music for West Side Story! - West Side Story is an amazing movie, I can't believe I've never watched it to be honest. I know it came out during the pandemic so the number of people who watched wasn't a lot, but it seriously is so underrated. The story is so rich, heartbreaking, and every scene of the movie contributed to the storyline. I will say that the song "I Feel Pretty" was kind of jarring because it came right after the death scenes, but I guess that's the nature of the story. - Listening to the music be played live was so special as the singing of the actors on screen felt so much more vibrant and alive. It almost felt like the whole movie was done right before your eyes, almost like a musical. Also, the music allowed for the emotions to be that much more intense. Sure you can think about it as $60 to watch a movie, or $60 to see a very amazing concert. - The theatre itself is absolutely stunning! Genuinely cannot recommend this more and I'm super looking forwards to be able to hear the NY Philharmonic again. I will never want to watch movies any other way anymore.

I went to Cunningham Park on June 13th, 2024 to see the New York Philharmonic. I had an amazing time it was so relaxing. It was so many people out in the park with their families, friends, and pets. People had blankets on the grass and some had chairs. The weather was so beautiful the air was crisp, and huge bugs I had never seen before weren't funny at the moment, but I can laugh now. I will go again. You should too

We ordered tickets online and if you're planning on attending a concert, I would recommend signing up for their newsletter. They are always sending out discounts and promo codes for the upcoming month. We attended the Michael Tilson Thomas (Meditations on Rilke) and Schubert (Symphony No. 9, Great) concert. At the David Geffen hall. The space is beautiful inside and outside. A quintessential NYC experience. Be punctual. They request you attend 30 minutes prior to showtime. There's a lot of people. People that need their coats checked, slow walkers, different floors you need to climb or ride the elevator. The ushers were amazing people, great at giving directions and handing out the program to follow along. The concert itself was beautiful.

Usually go to just couple of New York Philharmonic concerts per season, but this season went to most of them and enjoyed them all. Love the newly renovated Geffen Hall. Sound is so much better. One of the highlights for me this season was the 'Artist Spotlight' with the wonderful violinist Hilary Hahn. Wish NY Phil would do more of these 'Artist Spotlight'. It was also a treat to see Conductor Dudamel, who will take over the orchestra in 2026, conduct Mahler's Symphony No. 9. Looking forward to next season.

Went to my first concert from The NYPhil and it was Jurassic Park! Lovely performance and I can't wait to explore more from them this season!

My opera-singing partner and I spend a lot of time and $$$ at Lincoln Center. Last night's performance of Beethoven and Shostakovich was supposed to be great. We've experienced Rafael Payare conducting in Houston. We hoped his distracting breathing sounds during a performance were just a one- off, or, as one kind critic wrote, "some humming or hissing in the electronics" that they "hoped wouldn't occur during future performances". He's young and has a unique stage presence and i get it, he's something different and potential appealing to crowds who want that. But we hoped his tics or whatever it is wouldn't be part of the performance. Unfortunately, they were. And they ruined the performance. Rafael, if you are reading this, "Please stop! From 20 seats back we could hear you and we didn't come to NY Philharmonic to hear ... whatever it is. We came to hear the artists talents combine to recreate magnificent works and you were incredibly annoying." A solo can phonate or emote or whatever they want... but you should resist the urge to make this performance about you and your unusual stage presence. We will be back, but not if Mr P and his hissing/ breathing are.

I saw the New York Philharmonic perform at Carnegie Hall and they were great. Incredibly multi-faceted and dynamic performers who clearly have passion and dedication to their craft. The show was very engaging. I was also extremely impressed with their featuring of diverse artists and composers. If you enjoy music, even if you are not a huge symphony or jazz fan, you can appreciate the caliber of this group.

NY Philharmonic is very inflexible in allowing refund or credit AFTER they changed the artists and program at the last minute. I am even fine with the credit towards next season's subscription, but they didn't allow that either. And they don't have any other performance that is interesting for the remaining season for me to exchange the tickets. Besides, I have spent close to $600 for 3 tickets for the premium seats and they can't guarantee they'll have the compatible seating either. I have been subscribing to their programs for years, now they'll lose me as a customer.

First time at the Geffen Hall and it was a blast. We came for 35 under 35 on a Friday night, which was a steal. We sat in the main orchestra on the far side and the acoustics were splendid. Stravinsky's Firebird was the highlight of the night. A 45 minute piece beautifully played from beginning to end. Really makes you appreciate the effort it takes to write an entire score. Zero amplification yet we could hear everything crystal clear. Even coughing or sneezing can be heard extremely well. Definitely recommend a visit!

Cool Hand Lu says: A snowy evening of classical music is a great way to start off the holidays. I was lucky enough to be given some free tickets to see the NY Philharmonic perform Handel's Water Music at Lincoln Center. I hadn't been to Lincoln Center in over a decade so I jumped at the chance. To my pleasure, all of the staff I encountered were very pleasant and professional. I had a very smooth transition from picking up my tickets from will call, passing through security, getting a quick snack prior to the performance and then finding my seat. The drinks were discounted as well so that was a bonus. The acoustics within Lincoln Center were to me (admittedly a musical layperson...) excellent. I was seated three rows from the rear but I was never straining to hear the overall performance. I also physically felt the percussion sections of the compositions which throughly amazed me. Unfortunately it was a bit hard to hear the harpsichord, which to me, has one of the most interesting sounds. The tinniness it produces definitely make you immediately think of the Victorian era. I'm sure those sitting in the front were able to enjoy it. All in all, I had a great evening and will be including classical music into my Spotify station mix. I will be visiting Lincoln Center more often now I think...

My first time listening to the New York Philharmonic and they did a fantastic job. We attended a Wednesday evening performance and I really loved that the conductor had a passionate and colorful personality, otherwise the lengthy show would have been a bit more dry. Though I will admit, there were parts of the performance that I did not enjoy, but that just had to do with the particular show that I chose. So make sure that the performance you go to see is one that you're really interested in - they can be hit or miss. You can get reasonable $30-$40 tickets for performances. You can buy tickets at the theater box office to avoid some of the online fees.

I'm not sure if they're going downhill or what, but the last two performances I went to were very unsatisfactory. I went to a piano concerto in February and the pianist was never with the conductor and was super sloppy. I went to Andras Schiff's concert (he conducted two pieces and played piano for two piano concertos) recently and he was also really bad. For the two piano concertos, he conducted the orchestra when there was no piano part. For the piano part, it sounded like he just randomly plopped down notes for the music. His pedaling blurred the notes and he was rarely together with the orchestra. I went because I knew the last piece, a Schubert concerto, but I walked out after the first movement because it was so bad. Very disappointed. Some tips - student rush tickets for select performances, and Free Friday performances ages 26 years old and younger for select performances.

As an Angeleno, I've been always thinking LAPHIL is the best. But I enjoyed NYPHIL more than LAPHIL this time. My family came here for traveling NY and my daughter reserved tickets for matinee because it was January and I didn't drive a car unlike living in LA, where most people driving cars to attend the concerts. It was wet and drizzling outside but for New Yorkers, it didn't matter the weather was good or not. The hall was very crowded and vibe. I put my heavy coat in the Coat Check ($3 for the coat and $3 for the bag)beside the main hall and I felt more free to focus on music. The hall itself is vary classic and each level has some lightings to be divided and to be decorative. The seat was very comfortable, even though we sat the third level. The patrons were all ages and enjoyed music equally. Following the hall, the toilet is also classic. I could flush the toilet by pushing the pedal by foot and there are some candies inside the washroom. The program had three parts. Philharmonic's chamber music:String quartet, symphony, and post-concert Q&A. Amazing string quartet. It's high quality music. And very adventurous. If someone does like symphony only, it should be boring. But they proudly made music and invited the patrons inside the epitome of luxury. In particular I really liked the cello. He had lots of inspiration to play the music. He is the best of my experience of chamber music in my life. He is the principal cello of the NYPHIL. Only l could hear his part while four players played the music. The symphony was also amazing. I've never heard the Jean Sibelius's Symphony No.4. That's why I expected that this music was gonna be boring but very inspiring and deeply imagined by conductor Alan Gilbert and symphony members. After the concert they gave us time to talk(aka post-concert Q&A), four panels explaining the concert and answering the questions. One of the panels also mentioned that she'd never played this music before. One of panels was Anthony McGill, the principal clarinetist, who played the clarinet at the Obama' inauguration ceremony. Time flew so fast and I did coat check and came out with some feeling left. We had chance to listen to amazing quartet, unbelievable symphony and comfortable talk. It was very memorable time of my life.

This review is for the New York Philharmonic Membership Office. I thoroughly enjoy having the NY Philharmonic in my backyard and sincerely appreciate the beautiful performances they put on. However, the NY Philharmonic Membership Office is absolutely relentless. They are the worst and most aggressive membership-seeking people I have ever encountered in my life. I previously called them to ask that I be put on the 'Do Not Call List.' However, for the past few days, they have called me at all hours of the day. I reached out to the organization on Facebook, via phone, etc. with no success. As a graduate student, I simply am not in the position to support them and I really hope they understand that. I have no idea how to get my phone number out of the grasp of the NY Philharmonic Membership Office. My recommendation is if you are to put a phone number down when purchasing tickets, do not put down your personal cell phone number. And after picking up one or two membership phone calls, you will understand what I mean!! I currently ignore all numbers coming from 212- 496- xxxx. This is just simply unprofessional and unwarranted harassment. Shame on you, NY Philharmonic! First time to the NY Philharmonic and I loved it. The orchestra seats on the right were amazing. The musicians are amazing and the theater itself is beautiful and massive. Had a glass of sparkling wine for $8 which is great. Wonderful place to experience New York.

After hearing the New York Philharmonic perform the soundtrack to a Star Wars movie live last night--as the film was played--I went on to Yelp to post some photos. I was surprised to find that the NYP site only got four stars. Most reviews were full five stars, but lots of one stars were there to drag down the rating. Most of those were by disgruntled recipients of aggressive marketing/fundraising calls. Personally, I wish that the planned gut renovation of the hall had not been abandoned (announced three days ago), because the newly renamed Geffen Hall is notoriously frustrating in terms of long lines at intermissions and cost check and suboptimal acoustics. But I'm writing this because it's always uplifting to hear the orchestra perform, even in an imperfect venue. Listening to them play the soundtrack to Star Wars:Return of the Jedi was lots of fun.

Mmm yes, caviar. I thought my experience wondrous and lovely. My esteemed life partner and I decided to collect discounted tickets via student rush for a meager tithe of $18, and received a pair of luxurious orchestra seats. The German composer George Frideric Hansel composed an exquisite piece, and also had a lovely white afro. Emmanuelle Haim executed perfectly and was a vivacious conductor. It was as if she danced to the rhythm with touching emotion that the audience could feel off her movements. The musicians followed in suit, and performed flawlessly. My only concern for future theater-goers is that you take heed on where you sit. The sound quality is far superior in the front sections as there is no electronic audio. I bid you adieu! Ta-ta!

I'm not that classy. I don't often put on a suit and rock out to some Tchaikovsky. In fact, this was the first time. But doing so did make me feel as if I was actually taking advantage of something NYC has to offer besides food and 24/hour public transit. And that's always good. Of course, I'm not going to pretend that I didn't: 1. Throw back a few glasses of wine during our pre-Philharmonic meal. 2. Zone out a few times. 3. Pound a Johnny Black during one of the breaks. 4. Wonder if the conductor is REALLY necessary.* 5. Go down a Seinfeld rabbit hole thinking about The Maestro. 6. Contemplate fighting the folks who stole our seats because we got there late. 7. Bring a flask, just in case. But I thoroughly enjoyed the performance. It's incredible to see so many talented individuals moving entirely in unison (at times), and combining their collective gifts to create a singular work of art. I legitimately marveled at the sheer impossibility that I could ever be a part of such a production without screwing it up. And my heart was actually pounding at the finale (although I suppose that could've been the liquor). Whether you catch them during a free concert in Central Park (or Prospect Park when they deign to cross a bridge into the better borough), or full force in Avery Fisher Hall, the New York Philharmonic is worth a look. ______________ *Sometimes it seems like he's just waving, and no one is really following his lead.

I wouldn't normally write a recommendation for a venue like this but I feel like I was misguided by other reviews. Avoid the boxes, they are super uncomfortable due to leg space and the fact that you have to look 90 degrees to the side the whole event. Oh you want a slightly better view by leaning over, no , then you piss off everyone else in the row. I'd suggest the ground floor or any of the back of auditorium seating. Apparently the sound is better in certain areas, but as an amateur, I doubt I could have told any difference.

I attended the first night performance of Handel's "Messiah" this past holiday season, Tuesday, December 13th 2016. It was wonderful. I loved it. I arrived an hour prior to the performance to allot me time to pick up my ticket at will call, use the restroom, and coat check. Well I was able to get all that done minus the coat check because the line to get in was crazy so I decided to skip checking my coat in. I made it in just in time. This was a classic performance. If you've never attended and are a fan of classical music this is a must-see. It'll always be performed every holiday season.

Maybe one of the best ways to spend your money on live music in New York in one of the best locations (Lincoln Center, so perfect!!) and in such a beautiful venue. The experience really depends on the concert itself and the conductor, and not so much your seat/section - although there are better sections than others. They have a subscription for patrons under 35 (myphil) where tickets are $32.50 if you purchase three or more for different concerts. You still have to drop $100, but a great option if you're interested in multiple concerts and you can add on later. There are certain sections you can't sit in, but other than that, you can get GREAT seats that normally cost at least double that price. The next performance I'm attending for $65 would cost $176 at face value without my subscription. They also do discount tickets with LCTIX, you just need to sign up for the email list, and students have an advantage with student rush. Lots of considerable and mostly affordable ways to afford the music here. I've sat in the front of left orchestra, far back right orchestra, and left second tier, and for me, the best sound was always in the front orchestra. Center isn't so important, but I thought the sound was not optimal in the tier. You get an amazing view of Avery Fischer Hall though and the 25% of people who take naps during the performances. I'd be lying if I said I never closed my eyes, but again, it all depends on the concert, the intermissions (I've been to performances with zero intermissions) and the conductor. My favorite has been Pablo Heras-Casado - very animated, youthful and, most importantly, fun. Someone like Vladimir Jurowski is a little too stiff for me. New York Philharmonic, great experience for music lovers.

The New York Philharmonic is without a doubt, FANTASTIC! I bought tickets to watch Rachmaninoff and showed up about 30 min early. Make sure you show up early as it takes a little bit of time to get everyone up to the concert hall. Lines to the bathroom were long too, so get there early. If you want to get there extra early, there are bars there for you to have a drink. They will check your bags before you go up the escalators. I sat on the orchestra level with a good view of the stage. Sadly this dude with a huge spiky head sat in front of me, but I managed to find a small hole so I could still see the stage. The acoustics are amazing of course. During intermission, you can of course run to the bathroom or get a drink. There is definitely no shortage of alcohol here. I can't wait to come back to see more world-class shows here!

Wonderful venue and concert! Organized coat check ($9), the bars were right on each floor so there wasn't a line. Seats were perfect. We loved every minute.

A time-honored New York institution. While I've never personally attended any of their shows at Lincoln Center, I have been to a little more than a dozen of their free Concerts in the Parks series events. Since I was a child, this has been a highlight of my summer. First with my dad in the Bronx at Van Cortlandt Park - we'd listen to the familiar classical pieces, many of them straight from my favorite Looney Tunes cartoons and movies. Barber of Seville, Ride of the Valkyries, Beethoven's 5th. Afterward, we'd get a free fireworks show! If you were sitting towards the back, you were no more than 100 feet away!! Now, in my mid-20's, it's a picnic in Central Park with the NY Philharmonic as DJ. Wine, fruit, desert, cheeses, and the occasional bucket of KFC helps intensify -and sometimes classify- the fond memories I have, year after year, of a romantic and incredibly relaxing evening with friends. Fireworks cap off the sweet dream. This year, I went to the Bronx and Central Park concerts and was completely satisfied with the music, the venue's setup, and the energy of the crowd at each. I feel lucky to be in a city that can host such an event despite such tough economic times. For one evening, regardless of their current situation, everyone in attendance felt like they were living the good life. This is one of New York's can't miss events of the year - setup a facebook invite ;) bring a blanket, some wine, and that special someone you've had your eye on ;) but just get there if you can for some expertly played music worth a lot more than the price of admission!

It was my first trip and first night in NYC and I started it off just right by catching the 'Ravel and Gershwin' show. The Upper west side is a beautiful area and I especially admired the arts area of Lincoln Center and the Metropolitan Opera. Conducted by Jeffrey Kahane the Philharmonic was phenomenal. Best part is the tickets are relatively inexpensive but for better seats I lucked out and found a deal online. Whether you are familiar with the compositions or not, broaden your horizon and give it a try. An open mind and ears can develop an appreciation for the beauty behind the music.

Enjoy the show, but do NOT give them your contact info - you'll never get rid of them! It looks like I'm not the only one with a regrettable NYPhil experience. I took my mom to a very nice concert in summer 2009, and bought tickets online. What a mistake. Almost 4 years later I'm still getting calls asking me about this concert, as part of a request for money or buying more tickets, whatever... You have to be kidding me! I've politely declined and told the various people to please remove me from their lists... I've been told more than once that their different departments keep different databases or some such nonsense. Totally inexcusable, possibly against privacy/do not call laws...

Great experience - I was able to get student rush tickets for $18. We were seated in Orchestra 4, which is the main hall -- closest to the stage. The theater is set up in such a way that the Orchestra 4 seats don't necessarily allow the audience to see all of the musicians (not enough of an incline of the seating towards the back of the hall). We sat in the front row, and we were close enough to be able to see the expressions (or, you know, the lack of) of the musicians and the conductor. We saw Andris Nelsons, who had amazing facial expressions and was extremely animated throughout the performance. It was a delight to watch! I'm a novice when it comes to Classical music, but I thoroughly enjoyed all three pieces: Dvorak's "Noon Witch," Brahms' "Violin Concerto" with an amazing soloist, and Bartok's "Concerto for Orchestra." An amazing experience, and I would recommend that others try it! Just a tip: if you are a student, you can click Student Rush on the website and enter "Rush" as a promo code. You do, however, have to show your student ID at will call.

I was lucky enough to take a weekend trip to NYC for the sole purpose of seeing the NY Philharmonic's production of Sonheim's "Company". It was flawless and they even had a sense of humor about the show (which is hilarious) and it was nice to see them having a good time on the stage while the performers were going nuts on rolling chairs in front of them. I'm looking forward to seeing something more traditional from them in the future - I'm sure it will be just as amazing (though I will miss Neil Patrick Harris in front of me....)

This was the first time I visited the New York Philharmonic, and I had an orchestral blast. The building is absolutely beautiful, and it's definitely a good place to admire classical music. There are many seats, though I would highly recommend ordering center seats, even if you're far away. You'll be more of a 'pain in the neck' to yourself than to your friends during emotional times. If you select the left or right box seats, be mindful not to lean forward; people will lose their view more, so sit back and enjoy the show.

Today performance was spectacular. Bramwell Tovey was the conductor and Yefim Bronfman pianist for the Bartók piano concerto #2. Both are veterans. Overture to the bartered bride and Pictures at an exhibition were also featured.

The NY Philharmonic... I love, love, LOVE them. They are always on point and every performance gives me chills. I really do like how the Philharmonic reaches out and offer tickets that are relatively inexpensive (or free) so people of all incomes can access classical music.... The only negative is their fundraiser people. Really... please take me off the lists and stop calling me at work =-|

Enjoyed my concert at David Geffen Hall. Beautiful place and amazing musicians. Lucky for New Yorkers, they have great shows all year round.

The hall quality is quite dead acoustically and not very flattering to the talented orchestra. I wish they would be more daring with the program. I don't think I need to hear another Beethoven symphony again, ever. Obviously great players but bored of most of their performances. Really enjoyed their Messiaen concert a few years ago.

Raise your hand if you've been to the New York Philharmonic. I see a few hands go up. It's likely that you did attend begrudgingly on behest of a school assignment or your significant other threatening bodily harm. But I tell you, if you're a student, this is the best bargain around. Twelve bones gets you to an EVENING performance under the student rush program. A cheap date. Okay, sure the hall is ancient and the acoustic is a bit dodgy in but you can't go wrong with this kind of class. Oh, your not a student? Well, there's the open rehearsals for sixteen ducats. For those who want to play hooky or already off Wednesdays or Thursday morning, you can charm yourself to the strings of Debussy, Beethoven or Copland. Name your poison. But above all, you can't beat free. As in Free Summer Concerts in the Park in the five boroughs. Imagine yourself laying on the grass of Central Park or Prospect Park and enjoying your friend's company with wine and cheese. Then, you get to vote for the encore via SMS and finish with a roaring fireworks display. {Remember though, this without being said, support the arts by giving a little extra...}

For anyone who has the pleasure and opportunity to hear the Philarmonic, this is truly a treat. The finest musicians are graceful performers, that take you to a journey of musical knowledge. This talent is so superb and moving it is a must experience for everyone to at least partake in it once. If you are looking for culture, dept, and knowledge there is no better way to receive it. This is both a family atmosphere as well as one of the best romantic settings. Every seat in the house is great, as you going for the quality sound each performer boutifully gives the audience. I prefer the balcony seats but the floor is great as well. Be sure to get there on time, because the performances do start when its posted on the ticket, and if you don't at least they have comfy benches with flat screens which allow you to see and hear the performance until that piece is finished and you are allowed in to see the show. NY Philarmonic is a great masterpiece of talent!!

I do not know classical music well at all. Also, I am probably one of the least musically inclined people on the east coast. However, my paltry sense of notes and chords did not stop me from thoroughly enjoying the Philharmonic's performance. I sat in the audience, closed my eyes and just listened. I think shutting down the other senses and focusing on the sound helped my cognitive process just take it all in. The conductor choose a very interesting array of pieces that all had very different sounds and tempos. Also, they showcased the orchestra's different sections and talents. Some advice I can offer for people like me is to get a hold of the program and research the pieces and composers beforehand. I think going in with a little background might give you something to listen for and understand why the music sounds like it does. Definitely make the effort to check out this pillar of New York culture and history.

Attending tonight's performance was an amazing way to spend an evening, despite the cold. People definitely dress up a bit to go, or in many cases are going straight from work wearing business professional attire (debating heels or flats? Go with the heels). There's a restaurant that looked good inside Lincoln Center, but it was packed when I arrived about 45 minutes before the performance began. Get there early so you have time to explore and people watch. It's also fun to watch the musicians warming up, so give yourself a few minutes in your seat before the performance will begin. The performance began on time and was magnificent in its entirety. I kept my coat with me and I was glad that I did, it was chilly sitting still, however there is a coat check on the first floor. Most of all prepare for a magical evening and enjoy!

Student rush tickets for $15- Check. Great music - Check. Old people with too much perfume - Check.

Why the NY Philharmonic doesn't have 5 star reviews from all is beyond me. Apart from the fact that the music is among the best on the globe, the institution itself is doing such great things to connect to the audience and keep the customers happy. From inserts in programs thanking season ticket holders BY NAME, to responding on Instagram and giving fan appreciation gifts, the NY Phil is amazing.

The New York Philharmonic is quite simply the best artistic event you can treat yourself to in New York City. These talented musicians play an incredible array of music, ranging from the classical Viennese pieces of Mozart and Beethoven to the contemporary composers of Rouse. And all are exquisite! Avery Fisher Hall is beautiful, and whether you sit right up close or far in the balcony, the sounds is incredible. You don't have to be a music virtuoso to appreciate the talent of the New York Phil. Finally, the tickets are SOO affordable and that's what really makes the NY Phil so great! You can purchase "Rush tickets" for just $15 (for students and seniors). If you're 35 or under, join "MY Phil" which gives you $32.50 tickets throughout the season, including super amazing orchestra seats.

The NY Philharmonic is a classic cultural experience in the city that shouldn't be missed. With a wide variety of arrangements of classic and more modern pieces, even an amateur listener will enjoy the majesty of attending a performance of the NYP. Student rush tickets are a steal here - up to two weeks in advance the Philharmonic has student rush tickets available for $15 per person (amazing) for solid seats and a wide variety of shows. For $1 more than a movie ticket, come check them out. At times the staff here can be a bit snotty but the performers themselves are awesome!

Simply the best. In any given week, I can find a program that get me worked up. On March 20, 2013, I heard Bach's Air in G and the Violin Concertos in A minor and E major live for the first time. Unforgettable. I was sitting next to an ancient granny who was bopping to the music May I live to be that age and still love music! I wish I coud still qualify for rush tickets, but they are available for only students and seniors. I had a great run with my never expiring college ID, though :)

This is my second year seeing them in a park. I saw them yesterday at Prospect Park in Brooklyn and it was really lovely. I think one of the pieces they played had been composed by Tchaikovsky. A beautiful fireworks display, which I really appreciated because I didn't see them in person on the Fourth of July, followed the concert. Thanks for coming to Brooklyn, guys! It's a great way for people in the outer boroughs to get a taste of what you offer.

This review is specially regarding their customer services department. I had accidentally ordered tickets to the Copland and Marsalis concert on the wrong date. I emailed customer service and Patrick, the Customer Relations Manager, responded promptly within 24 hours. He provided me with step by step instructions on how to re-order and not lose my money that I had initially paid for the original tickets. Additionally I spoke with Anna over the phone who was just as helpful with picking new seats for the correct date. In addition to their exceptional customer service, the NY Philharmonic put on an incredible concert every time I have seen them--the Mostly Mozart Concert series is a favorite of mine! Thank you again Patrick and Anna for your prompt and polite service!

The NYP concert- Janine Jansen and Beethoven's Fifth Symphony concert was absolutely beautiful. My favorite piece in the program was Erkki-Sven Tüür Aditus -New York Premiere). Also played in the program, Britten- Violin Concerto & Beethoven Symphony No. 5 .

If you enjoy getting harassed by call centers, then by all means please attend one of their concerts. Because for months afterward, you will receive never-ending calls. And boy, do they call you. They call you in the morning. They call you at night. They call you in the middle of the day at work. They'll call when you're trying to relax at home. It doesn't matter if you tell them to stop calling you because they have a hundred different call centers who do not talk to each other. So even though you're removed from one, you'll receive calls their other call-centers.
