First off, don't listen to the haters.
They're probably never satisfied with anything in their own lives, so nothing will make them happy.
I'm so glad this place still exists. I haven't been there since I lived on that side of town before covid, and I'm glad they survived it.
Don't expect frills of any kind... it's as old school as you can get. It's the food and the price that keeps them in business after all these years. And I'm talking ten year old prices... currently a little over $5 for their most expensive sandwich, and less than $7 for their most expensive sub. Hot dogs start at $1.69. Cash only!
Do yourself a favor and get a potato salad with your meal... it's the best kind of deli potato salad, chunky and super thick and creamy. Their deli meats are top notch. Their pastrami is golden, and corned beef is equally good. You can even get them by the pound. Toppings are basic sub stuff, so don't expect garlic aioli or candied jalepenos...just lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, oil, vinigar, and your choice of yellow or white American cheese. That's it.
The two little old Asian grandmas are sweet, in a stoic Asian grandma kind of way. You give them respect, they give you respect. She must have told me "thank you" a half dozen times just now, so for the people saying they're mean or ignorant, maybe YOU are.
And yes, they heat up hot sandwiches in the microwave, but only the meat and cheese. They don't have a grill, so what do you expect? They DO use a steamer for the buns and hot dogs, so you could probably ask them to steam your meats instead, but I didn't bother.
So, if you don't mind an old school kind of deli that just serves good sandwiches at a cheap price, and are comfortable going into the hood (it's pretty rachet around there), then give them a try.
