"Next Door American Eatery, the offshoot of The Kitchen restaurants, is opening its sixth Colorado location next month. The restaurant should debut the week of October 8 inside the Central Park development at Plaza Drive and Lucent Boulevard, Highlands Ranch. Already open in the shopping center are some fun food options including Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery, Torchy’s Tacos, and Shake Shack. Elsewhere in Colorado, Next Door has locations in Boulder, Denver, Glendale, Stapleton, and Longmont." - Josie Sexton

"Highlands Ranch’s 100-acre Central Park mixed-use hub has already seen a rapid succession of debuts this year, including Zoës Kitchen, Old Chicago, Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery, Torchy’s Tacos, Mad Greens, and the second Denver home of Shake Shack, but now Next Door American Eatery confirms it will move into the neighborhood this fall. Sitting close to Mad Greens at 1485 Park Central Drive and slotting into a existing vacant structure, the 3,579-square-foot restaurant will add a rectangular bar, three dining areas with room enough for 120 customers inside, and a 22-seat outdoor patio. Hugo Matheson and Kimbal Musk created the sixth Colorado location for the highly ambitious brand, which originally debuted in 2004 by. Each predecessor opens at 11 a.m., features daily happy hours, and hosts late-night drink specials on Friday and Saturday. On the menu, snack and share creations, bowls, soups, salads, and burgers, plus vegetarian and vegan options." - Susan Stapleton

Our server Colby was fantastic. All the food was out quick and tasted great, and the portions are just right. Their chocolate chip cookies are so good, I didnt even know it was gluten-free til he told me afterwards! Couldn't even tell! The tomato soup was delicious and the chicken quinoa soup was so cozy. The pineapple express burger was my favorite, and also the organic lemonade. The hibiscus tea was refreshing, and the 50/50 burger was good, very creative. Good work!!

This place just opened last month and is already about to take off! When you walk inside you are greeted with a low lit and calming atmosphere, paired with very friendly and attentive staff. The bartender Jenn took my order and suggested I try the falafel bites with the curry aoli as a side. It was amazing! She's awesome! I'm so glad I stopped in. I will be back to try everything. It's all fresh food with surprisingly many allergy concerned gluten free, vegan and dairy free options. Perfect for anyone. Must try.

Went in during happy hour on a Monday. It was very slow, so service was very prompt. Chicken Nachos for $5 were delish. There were only 2 beers for the $4 happy hour special, and they were out of one of them. Not sure why they wouldn't substitute, so it cost them a star.

Absolutely delicious! I've been wanting to try this place since it opened in Highlands Ranch, and they did not disappoint! We had amazing service from our waitress Kristin. She was very knowledgeable of the menu, and checked on us just enough. She was super friendly and had a positive attitude. I had the cheeseburger and my husband had the Cuban, both were delicious. They both came with a salad and we substituted our chips for the fries, which i would recommend since the fries were really good. The salad was a nice addition to our meal. It was hard to decide on what to eat as everything on the menu looked good! We will definitely be back!

Thought we would try this place as the atmosphere looked very nice. The service was great; however, the food was not. The chicken bite appetizer was dry and over cooked; although I loved the dill ranch served with it. I ordered the salmon. It was dry and there wasn't one spice on it, not even salt and pepper. I could have made that at home without effort. My friend ordered the fish and chips. Again; although it had a nice crunchy batter, the batter had no flavor. It is unfortunate, because the atmosphere and service were great. We won't be returning.

Service was good and restaurant was clean, but food wasn’t great. Kids Mac and cheese was hard, kids burger was hard. The chips seemed like they were lays potato chips, was expecting homemade. Green chili soup was so so, very watery and on the bill more expensive than what was posted on the menu. Shrimp bowl, the shrimp were tasty but the rest of the bowl was bland and mushy. Was hoping to find a great new place near home, but since all 4 of our meals were not good and at a price of $60, we will not be returning.

The location is convenient. The decor is really nice and the servers are great. I really wanted to like this place. However, it all fell apart when we started eating and drinking. The portions are tiny on some items despite the high price. A "large" appetizer was a small cup. Our party joked that the "small" must be a shot glass. The food tasted good. Unfortunately, our party had to chase fruit flies off of our entrees. I was surprised since we were eating indoors... In addition, the water and lemonade smelled musty and had an off taste. I'm not sure if this was an off day or if this is an ongoing issue. Either way, I wouldn't come back.
