NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"Besides muffins, croissants, and other pretty standard pastries, this Woodside coffee shop also sells Tibetan crafts, books, gifts, and more. Most of the drink menu is your average café fare—espresso, matcha, and smoothies—but we’re looking forward to a warm cup of their Tibetan butter tea." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

Best Restaurant Dishes Eater NY Editors Ate This Week, June 30, 2025 | Eater NY

"A Woodside cafe’s parfait is notable for incorporating tsampa (roasted barley flour), which gives the dish a nutty, buttery flavor alongside tangy, slightly sweet yogurt, honey, and fresh berries; unlike granola, the tsampa 'tastes almost like cake,' making it great for a light breakfast or special treat (the dish is $6.25). The cafe invites a slow moment under an expansive ceiling painted by artist Lobsang Tsewang to evoke a Tibetan tent that opens onto the sidewalk, and it features a gift shop with Tibetan books and crafts. —Nadia Q. Ngatso Cafe – A Hidden Gem in Woodside! If you’re in Queens, NY and haven’t checked out Ngatso Cafe, you’re seriously missing out. The drinks here are next level – especially the Strawberry Matcha, Strawberry Mint Refresher, and the unforgettable Cloud Match (a dreamy blend of coconut juice, coconut milk, and matcha). What A Drink! Refreshing, flavorful, and just the right balance of sweet and smooth. For the coffee lovers, you are also treated equally; Beans used here are incredibly smooth, flavorful, and perfectly balanced for a solid caffeine boost with balanced bitterness. Beyond the drinks, the ambience speaks for itself – peaceful, calm, and inviting. It’s the kind of spot where you can settle in with a book, get some studying done, or just enjoy some quiet time. Plus, the staff are super friendly, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a chill café with seriously good drinks!

Come out and support this awesome new spot! What a beautiful tribute to Tibet, incredible fusion of tradition and modernity. The butter tea is a must try, and strawberry matcha latte never disappoints! Very cute and special little corner for merchandise and gifts. I got a special gift set for a friend from here for Mother’s Day, and she adored it. Love that a lot of the stuff in their shop is in the original language. They’ve even got some fun tic tac toe and checkers/chess games on the tables.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 This Tibetan café is an absolute gem in Woodside! From the moment you step in, you’re welcomed by a peaceful, beautifully decorated space that reflects true Tibetan culture and hospitality. Every detail—from the handcrafted furniture to the calming colors and artwork—has been thoughtfully chosen. The service is warm and kind, making you feel right at home. You can tell the owners put their heart into this place. The food and drinks are delicious and made with care. It’s more than just a café—it’s a space that brings people together and shares the essence of Tibetan warmth and beauty. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique and soulful experience! 🙏✨

Google
Gorgeous space, coffee made with care, friendly service, REAL GLASSWARE (one of my favorite things), and even a cute Tibetan gift shop area. I also appreciate the large communal tables so people can work on laptops without taking up too much space. This is a really nice addition to the neighborhood.

I walk past this cafe every so often and been wanting to try a drink off their coffee menu. I got the banana cream latte and it was delicious. If I were to come back, I would definitely try the strawberry matcha latte!

Google
The butter coffee was AMAZING as well as the banana cream latte — the drinks are perfect. I also loved browsing the native Tibetan souvenirs in the little shop on the side, and the vibe overall is a nice break from the busy and loud 7 train. This will definitely be a new go-to for me whenever I’m in Woodside.

Google
Cute cafe, very clean and lots of nice board games. Espresso based drinks are top notch, easily the best I've found in Woodside or Jackson Heights. Also sells Tibetan artwork much of it locally made seemingly.

Google
Beautiful space to meet up with people, study, relax. I tried the shaken espresso and it’s so smooth and balanced, definitely one of the best I’ve tried. Also I’ve never had chai on a pastry but their chai creme twist was incredible. Definitely a must if you’re around the area. ☕️

Yelp
So happy I passed by this cafe and decided to give it a go this morning! First of all, I love this space so much. Everything about it makes me happy. From the amazing natural sunlight to the open doors letting in fresh air in, and the aesthetic - super calming, peaceful, and cozy. I had their matcha strawberry latte and it was yummy! I definitely want to try their other drink items. Overall, lovely cafe and I will be back!

Yelp
Cute Tibetan cafe. Loved their ambience. Price is reasonable too. Went their on a rainy saturday morning and it was pretty much empty. They have cute merch, beautiful paintings and lots of tibetan books. I got strawbery matcha and tibetan tea. Not a fan of tibetan tea, so it was okay. It was made fresh, unlike arya cafe where they use powder Mac tea. Strawberry matcha was creamy and not too sweet. Perfect for my liking. I wish they had plastic straws or a sippy lid for drink.

Yelp
Highly recommend this beautiful, welcoming Tibetan café, offering spot-on pöcha (Tibetan tea) as well as the full range of coffees. Ngatso also offers merch from Tibetan vendors that are hard to find elsewhere. Great place to meet with friends.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. It has a beautiful serene atmosphere. Friendly service. There are also some unique and cool items for sake ( art, books, pottery, clothes all inspired by Tibetan and Buddhist culture. I just ordered a latte because I was in a rush to go while visiting queens for a funeral. I will have to go back next time I'm in NY

Yelp
I love the aesthetic here, the environment is calm, but there's lots of Tibetan merch to check out. I never had Butter Tea, that was subtle and nice. Their Strawberry Matcha is tasty too. The coffee is good and strong as well. Everyone's always been nice there, and on breezy days they open the doors for fresh air.

Yelp
I really like this cafe. The decor. The bean. The overall zen ambiance. It's all great. It's also clean and well air-conditioned with good amount of seating. Their food option is great as well. If they add overnight oats to the lineup I'd be so grateful.

Yelp

Yelp
I love that there is a Tibetan owned cafe in the heart of Woodside where there is huge Himalayan diaspora! It is a gorgeous space that showcases and sells Tibetan artisans products. Also such a plus that the drinks here are great! Their mango lassi has been one of my favorite. I've been here quite a lot since their opening and will definitely continue to return. Great space to catch up with friends for a quick coffee run, play chess, WFH, etc.
