Nica on 4th - Review - Downtown Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"West 4th Street is the new jazz hot spot—this cocktail lounge is located right next to Parker Jazz Club. Its theme is “Prohibition," which means dangling Edison bulbs and lots of Old Fashioneds and martinis. They’ll have live jazz performances every day they’re open (Tuesday-Sunday) from 6pm-1am." - Nicolai McCrary

Live jazz music from real jazz musicians (curated by and from Parker Jazz Club / Elephant Room) in a relaxed, but elegant, environment. This isn’t a jazz show like it is at Parker, it’s a jazz lounge. Classic cocktails and wine to accompany a lovely evening. If you want to see the full jazz band, you’ll need to wait until they’re done playing whatever show is happening next door at Parker Jazz Club.

No show calendar on website or socials? Several reels reposted on socials just have a bunch of patrons not paying attention to the cats on stage, engrossed in conversations they should have had upstairs over dinner and only seemingly there to impress a date and post selfies on socials. We'll stick with a listening environment for our tastes. Isn't this supposed to be about the music?

Excellent venue, perfect for the kind of group outing I’m planning with friends! I came on opening night, and while the place was packed (always a great sign), the staff was kind, gracious, and attentive. Once a space opened up, I was seated in a cozy booth corner with a perfect view of both the band and the bar. I sipped on a delicious old fashioned while soaking in the atmosphere: high ceilings, open design, and thoughtful details throughout. What impressed me most, though, was the balance: lively energy with music and style, yet still comfortable for great conversation. Exactly what I was hoping for in a date-night, after-dinner spot. I’ll definitely be back soon, and I can’t wait to introduce some fellow speakeasy lovers to this gem. Thank you for making my night special and exceeding my expectations. — Gisel
