They’re renovating their space, and I couldn’t be more excited! Nichole’s Fine Pastry & Cafe has an atmosphere that feels like stepping into another world. We enjoyed a stunning cake that was every bit as delicious as it looked!

This is the best place! Cozy atmosphere, friendly employees, the warmest memories. You feel like you're in a fairy tale! Coffee is served in beautiful white cups. And what can I say about their croissant? I've never tasted such deliciousness before... Pistachio croissant is an icon of style, it's an unforgettable taste. Unsurpassed! Bravo! I'm your fan forever!!!

Went in on a Saturday with almost no one in the building. Asked the server Rowan questions about the cakes. She has an unpleasant attitude with me. Picked out a cake after she made me feel like I was annoying her with questions. She proceeds to stuff my piece of cake in the box with her bare hands. She charges me a fee for using a debit card. The fee only applies to credit cards. She proceeds to say “it’s just only” ! Will never be going back. To add the cake has frozen pieces on it. Not sure if it was suppose; couldn’t ask questions anyways. Not appetizing at all.

Wow!!! That a Cafe of this high quality both in service and delicious offerings exists in North Dakota amazed me! Found this Cafe when I did a bakery search after lunch at a restaurant nearby. A cake slice and cup of coffee sounded great on the rainy day in Fargo yesterday. Staff (except the somber cashier) were warm and welcoming; they all appeared to really enjoy their jobs… Felt like I was back in New York, Seattle, or California! Had a slice of chocolate mouse cake and an Americana. Both were superb! Ambiance was upbeat and just wonderful! Highly recommend Nichole’s Fine Pastry & Café to anyone who expects to be treated with kindness and by high energy, friendly staff. It’s in short supply in ND, but maybe things are changing!

Nicole is a wonderful owner that really takes her business to the next level in customer service. I am from out of town & was having a local event and she went out of her way to deliver to my event site before her store even opened. This is why so many locals recommended her place to me. Thank you so much for going out of your way & making my event very special.

I called Nichole's to see about getting a Key Lime Pie made for a good friend of mine for her Birthday who lives in North Dakota and I live in Oregon. The lady I spoke too was the sweetest girl ever, super professional, kind, caring about the order, made sure all information is correct and being so on top of everything! They made this very special order come true for her and absolutely made her birthday. She loves Nichole's and has actually wanted a Key Lime Pie from them specifically for her birthday and its never happened until now. I give huge shout out to this business and the amazing customer service I've ever received. Thank you so much for making this order and giving my friend the biggest and happiness surprise! The Pie absolutely beautiful, the detail, care, love and precious time to create this masterpiece. I cannot thank this business enough!! I highly recommend 15/10 for me. :)

Ordered cupcakes for our event - absolutely loved how they turned out! The gals on the day of pick-up were so very helpful and assisted with getting them to my vehicle. The cupcakes themselves were so light and fluffy, the frosting was the perfect sweetness and flavor (and color). I ended up eating more than I anticipated. 😅

Called ahead so I could make sure I would get what I wanted Almond Croissant, Kouign Amann and a Pecan Sticky Bun. I saw the episode years ago on Triple D and added this to my places to visit when in the area. Of course since I was only traveling through and not sure when I'd be back had to get more when I went in and saw all the fancy pastries. So ended up with a Caramel Pecan Bar, Chocolate Croissant and a Peanut Butter Crunch Mousse Slice too. All were so good. I warmed some of them (not the bar or the mousse) in the oven for 5 or so minutes and that was awesome. I really liked the Kouign Amann it was like a perfect salty sweet flaky delight. The Peanut Butter Mousse with the amazing crunchy tasty bottom layer and creamy light peanut butter middle and of course the chocolate. Such a rich treat. The Almond Croissant with the almond paste center. Just fantastic. I wasn't mad at anything I got. Happy customer. Glad I stopped.

Yelp
Have only tried the pastries at Brewhalla outpost, but they are one of the best french pastries I have had in the Dakota's.

Yelp
There really is something for everyone to enjoy at Nichole's. With a vast menu of sweet and savory breakfast and lunch dishes plus several cases of baked goods and desserts, no one will walk away hungry. We popped in for a light breakfast and were promptly greeted by a very friendly college student who guided us through his top picks. I enjoyed a small, yet filling square of egg bake. My husband made short work of his salami croissant, but said he would pick something different next time. I'm a sucker for a petit four, so we grabbed two for the road. I found mine cloyingly sweet, which was a bummer. Fortunately, the lemon tart with a dollop of meringue on top was a winner that we enjoyed later in the day. Such a nice surprise to stumble upon a French bakery in downtown Fargo!

Yelp
Service was great and no wait time. A great place to bring the family on the weekend!

Yelp
1st time here. Lots of good looking sweets here! The staff was friendly. The place is clean. Quite a full house here at 2pm. I didn't expect that. I had the lemon curd tart with their house drip coffee. The dessert was delicious, but I never thought it would not have been. Great choice. The coffee was good too. Nice and tasty. It went well with the lemon tart. This place is definitely worth coming to!

Yelp
Yelp's top bakeries in every state list came out a little before my trip to Fargo. Nichole's was on there so of course it made the list! First off- let me save you a trip. If you are planning on going to Brewhalla there is a Nichole's stand inside! Their downtown location did not sell cookies but they had them at Brewhalla. (I did not buy the cookies.) The Brewhalla location has limited items though. Cute, quaint little shop in downtown. Nice employees, very clean. Lot's of items on display! It was hard to make a decision but I went with a croissant for the road and an immediate eat cannoli with the edges rolled in crushed pistachio. 1. Croissant: Good. Fluffy. 2. Cannoli- the pistachio edges were delicious. The rest of the cannoli was just like any other cannoli. (I would suggest putting some of that pistachio in the ricotta)

Yelp
I went to the Nichole's in Brewhalla. Service was very friendly! I ended up just getting a couple cookies. The snickerdoodle was yummy! The chocolate was ok a little stale. I wish I tried some other things but I was in a hurry. Super cute place as well!

Yelp
Food service is great, Ambiance is perfect. Staff is amazing. I just love coming here when I'm on this side of town.

Yelp
Second coffee and early lunch, it was wonderful to find a Paris-quality patisserie in Fargo North Dakota. Sure, Guy Fieri stopped in here but it's still pretty darned awesome. Warm and friendly service and a huge counter of baked goods. All sorts of delicate pastries and desserts, but if you're looking for sandwiches and soups, they have those too. The grilled Reuben sounded delicious, served on house-made bread. My eye didn't get much further along than the twice baked almond croissant which I had with a drip coffee. It was heavenly and well worth the ten thousand calories. Light, flaky, delicious and perfect. [Review 20764 overall - 122 in North Dakota - 1746 of 2023.]

Yelp
I met two friends at Nichole's for lunch. A nice visiting atmosphere! With such scrumptious foods offered. The confections the finest you will find! A Great downtown stop which never disappoints!

Yelp
Nichole's is a cut above all for any baked goods, you name it she does it to the highest degree .The training she has bestowed upon her help is unmatched by anyone in town. Nichole's desserts ,pastries are fabulous & above all delicious! Really, non better!

Yelp
Excellent baked goods. Nice, quite atmosphere. Good selection of your favorite sweets to choose from!

Yelp
Chocolate croissant may be the best ever! Went back later for baguette sandwiches for lunch.

Yelp
This place is a staple in my life! Having a good day? go to Nichole's...Having a bad day...? Go to Nichole's!! We're always greeted with a smile, and made to feel as welcomed as family. There's something wonderful to try for anyone! Not only is the assortment the best, but it's truly the best of the best! You'll see what I mean ;) It may seem a bit small when you first walk in, but there are two sides of dining space to choose from. In the summer the patio is my favorite place to be.

Yelp
Rude and unprofessional. Will never go back again. I was able to be helped and they didn't resolve the issue

Yelp
As one of 3 restaurants in Fargo visited by Guy Fieri and featured on DDD, Nichole's steps up to the plate. It's very rightfully named "fine pastry", because they serve a lot of desserts that are what I call fancy. And I'm a big fancy pastry person, I mean are you a true foodie if you aren't? So this was an easy stop. Jam packed display cases- mini cakes, tarts, creme brûlée, eclairs, key lime pie, petit fours, cookies, bars-- want me to keep going? Full honesty, I wanted to try one of everything. I ended up getting a pack of macaroons, and I was impressed that they were the texture a good mac should be- a slightly crunchy shell, and a soft, gooey inside of the cookie. Though there are many great treats here, I'm not sure if I'd be a visitor often were I living in the Fargo area. I didn't really get a great vibe here, as it is a "fine pastry" shop and it almost felt like the place was too good for random people off the street like me. Do you ever feel that way? But nonetheless I'm glad I got to try it and it definitely lives up to the name.

Yelp
Everyone there is friendly, they make you feel welcome and care. The food is pretty good. The cake needs more love though, doesn't pack much flavor at all. Perhaps if they layered the cake more. The calzone on the other hand was hands down just amazing. Brought a huge smile to my face.

Yelp
Tasty and lovely treats Nice people This is a great place for a coffee and a treat or a lunch with a friend. I have never been disappointed.

Yelp
I was on Yelp today and was surprised to see I've never reviewed Nichole's until now. That shocked me as I've been here many times over the years, love this place and often tell people (who are unfamiliar) about it. My primary stops to Nichole's are generally for their amazing pastries, and then a coffee or tea. The fruit tarts are probably my favorite but there are so many favorites to choose from. I love really like the scones and muffins. I've had lunch a number of times there and always enjoy the sandwiches and soups I get. I've also been at events where Nichole's wrapped sandwiches were catered in and it's always a nice treat to see that at a meeting or event. Big picture is that if you've never been here, you really need to go. It's a fun place to bring visitors to town as well. This is as good of a pastry shop as you'll find anywhere.

Yelp
We stop by here about once a week to pick our desert for home. Everything is so good, you cannot go wrong. Super friendly staff. So comfortable to grab a table for a pecan caramel roll and coffee on Saturday.

Yelp
I was really not too impressed by the staff honestly felt like a burden I haven't had that at many places I've gone to, so I was really surprised at the attitude I was given by the serving staff I don't believe it was the owner I believe it was someone that was hired Who is not fulfilling their position very well!

Yelp
Nichole's creme brûlée is one of the best I've ever had! They make tiny cups of it so you can take it to go. I recommend calling to check if they have any left before making the drive since it's usually sold out by early afternoon. They torch it right on the spot when you order so be prepared to wait (it's worth it!). They also make custom cakes. My family member ordered a unicorn birthday cake for his daughter's birthday and it was beautifully done. Great place for a variety of pastry and gelato options!
google avatar

Jared W.

Yelp
Wanted to like this place but the sponges of the cakes are very dry. The icing is great (not too sweet) but the actual cake itself is just underwhelming for the price. However, their cinnamon rolls are very very good!
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic affordable prices like the quiche and side salads ($$3.75) such as the earl grey tea or tinned teas to take home too;,-' because I was dieting at the time, I drank an oriental herbal tea minus milk) with my gruyere and spinach quiche tart. Cake slices look divine and ample thick slices, heavelnly!!! MORE importantly if you go pick this eatery over others in FARGO, there are caring and amicable open-hearted baristas coffee specialists, who are not snappy and wait for you to step back and approach with q's ad inquiries no Matter how long their queue is.....I loved that!! I ended up buying an artisanal north-DAKOTÀ postcard as rememberance from a whimsical and sharp blond-cashier, whose name I forgot. They have several options for creamers and coffee syrups, soymilk, unprocessed brown sugar for beverages, I believe. "This is my comment card."

Yelp
Nichole's was such a treat to visit. They had a nice variety of desserts and flavors available. My personal favorite out of the desserts we got was the petit four, as it have a lovely, sweet almond flavor similar to marzipan. The lemons curd tart was lovely with a nice tang from the smooth, sumptuous curd. The choux pastry was light and airy, and the cream filling was smooth and indulgent. Normally I'm not a fan of eclairs because most people don't get it right (too dry, too dense, etc...), but I was pleasantly surprised that Nichole's did such an incredible job. The creme brûlée was rich and creamy with a lovely vanilla flavor. The staff recommended trying the chocolate cake, and it was really indulgent. It had a beautiful, deep chocolate flavor for the mousse and ganache. There was a nice crunch at the bottom with the hazelnuts. The only slight critique we had for it is that we thought the proportion of the mousse to cake was a bit much and that it would be more balanced if the cake was a little shorter and didn't have as much mousse....but honestly, at that point, we're just nitpicking. Honestly, we loved our experience at Nichole's and would happily stop by and give them our business any time we're in the area.

Yelp
I had some time to burn before an appointment and stopped in to check it out. Loved the local art on the wall and inviting feeling of the place. I had the crème brûlée, which was delicious and paired well with an americano. I'll definitely be back to check out the lunch menu.
google avatar

Yelp
Steel your nerves and commit to a spending limit before you go in. The prices are fair and everything looks amazing. I enjoyed my visit and walked out with three additional desserts in to-go boxes. Self control is important. Having enough chocolate cake and cannoli to get through a weekend is important too.

Yelp
I've tried much much more now. It's all delicious. We love their little cakes, perfect celebration size of our little family of three. One of my favorite things is their Evening in Missoula tea. It's like if root beer were a tea. A pot of tea and a cupcake and a book is pretty close to heaven.

Yelp
Set on making the drive from Minneapolis to Winnipeg, one reason a strong belief that even small towns contain dining worth investigating, it was around 1:00pm that parking was found at Nichole's Fine Pastry in Fargo, Chef Nichole Hensen's Bakery and Cafe nearly 3/4 full towards the end of lunch hour with everyone from men in suits to retirees enjoying a range of items both sweet and savory. Serving North Dakota's largest city for over a decade, the Glenburn native and graduate of CIA at Greystone opening up shop at 13 8th Street South Tuesday through Saturday by eight o'clock, it is immediately upon entry that the smells and sounds of a working Bakery are apparent, at least one half of the space dedicated to production and service though there is still plenty of seating available on the Restaurant's left side. Recently receiving some attention from Food Network, a spot on "Best Desserts" joining local accolades dating to 2003, it was only after lengthy debate that six items were selected with some-for-now-some-for-later intent, though in reality almost nothing ordered would make it out the door. Pleasantly designed and low volume, the din of other diners far lower than similarly filled spaces in major cities including Minneapolis, it was sipping self-serve Water that tasting began with Hensen's Spice Cake layered in Buttercream, the Sponge moist but not heavy while Frosting is restrained, the follow-up "Seven Layer Bar" expectedly more dense but still better than many thanks to additional Nuts and Coconut which helped temper the sweetness of Butterscotch and Condensed Milk. Intrigued to see fresh Viennoiseries coming out of the kitchen past noon, the clerk overheard saying they'd run out and had to make more, it was here that Nichole's really proved their skills, the Dough separating in innumerable layers and spilling its tangy stewed Fruits along with Cream Cheese while two Cookies to follow were enjoyable, though the Chocolate Chip was both slightly underbaked and a bit too salty. Saving what a server had referred to as "the best" for last, $5.25 for an individually sized Tart rivaling the prices seen in Manhattan or Chicago, it was eyeing a slightly uneven Shell with some skepticism that tasting ensued, the flavor at first intense with Cocoa but quickly turning sweet and then mellowing as the two mixed in the mouth to a satin-smooth consistency.

Yelp
Had a craving for crème brûlée and this place popped up. Glad we tried it. Crème brûlée was perfect! Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
My best friend absolutely loves this place. While going through the Vintage shops of downtown Fargo, we made a stop at Nicole's. I was not disappointed. As quaint and cute as it could be, Nicole's is every bit a a European patisserie Cafe. One side offers soups, salads, and meals of substance. We had the Brie and turkey apple sandwich. It was light yet filling. We then popped over to the bakery side. I marveled over the French macarons. Perfect petite a little packages. Pretty and they're pale pink, green, yellow, round beacons of deliciousness. Each macaron was flavorful. My gold standard for macaron flavor is pistachio. The pistachio here was amazing. A pale green, salty sweet, crunchy chewy. Macaroon perfection. We also grabbed some raspberry pastries to go. I can't remember the name, but think of a pastry dough in casing a rich raspberry jam. Simply divine. Nicole's is one of those great go to Neighborhood places. Its offerings are filling and carefully crafted.

Yelp
Best creme brûlée around. Perfect to share and its fun little experience cracking the caramelized sugar on top to reveal the tasty layer of custard underneath. Also had a double latte. Tasted a little weak for 2 shots of espresso, and compared to previous visits. No wifi :(( so can't like do homework here. My friend got a cranberry almond cupcake thing. Good flavors combined. Maybe slightly over-baked because it was a little dry and had hard edges. In house made lemonade was decent.

Yelp
So I had to check Nicholes and it was almost great except the smoked salmon on supposedly everything bagel but since I got the bottom someone else got the everything. Since it's already built can't toast the bagel and it was just blah. Berbaums Icelandic is awesome. Now salami and cheese croissant , strawberry cream cheese turnover and a Bavarian pastry were amazing. I can't wait to go back and try more things. So many options I was stumped what to get. Thank for such a great experience and wonderful customer service.
google avatar

Yelp
This spot is a favorite with the locals, for good reason. It's a cute place in the heart of downtown, right off of Main St. and near some fun boutiques. It's great for a quick coffee stop or a casual date night dinner. It's decently sized so it shouldn't be hard to find a seat. They have a great tea selection, and decent coffee. For food, their pastries are locally famous, but I appreciate their soups. (Their roasted red pepper soup made with coconut milk is kind of amazing.) Plus, for the vegans, they advertise vegan options that rotate out regularly.
google avatar

C Elizabeth D.

Yelp
Wonderful selection of tasty treats. The lemon tart and pecan buns were beyond yummy. My hubby and I loved it so much that we tried stopping back by on the way to the airport. Bummed they were closed since it didn't reflect on Yelp. Being a small town, you need to expect this, so I suggest calling ahead to be sure.
google avatar

Alice A.

Yelp
Fantastic desserts. The key lime pie and the creme brûlée are amazing. Desserts are definitely pricy but really worth it. As I go about once a week, I would recommend Nichole's for coffee and desserts, or if you are in the mood for a snack. Dont expect a full meal/restaurant experience for lunch as the quantities are not consistently the same, and tend to be small when it comes to salads, soups or quiche (which are always very fresh and tasty). Good customer service, I was unhappy with an item one day and they offered to replace it right away or to give me a credit for the following time.

Dana W.

Yelp
The coconut cake is pretty tasty! Shop is really cute and I'll have to pop in for lunch some time.

Yelp
Good coffee, tea, pastries and lunches.

Yelp
A cute shop with lots of sweet treats to pick from! Had the pecan sticky roll and it was very good. A bit too sweet for my liking, but that's what it's supposed to me. Friendly staff from what I experienced. But beware: there are lots of bees outside so don't take your dessert to the outdoor seating
google avatar

Mark W.

Yelp
I've walked by Nichole's many times but never tried it until recently; I wanted something different for a change and just happened to be walking by. The only real problem I have with this place? It's too hard to decide what you want. All the desserts look inviting! They have cake, pie, cupcakes, scones, brownies and even gelato! You can't go wrong with any of the superior sweets at Nichole's. If you want some lunch, you've come to the right place. There's a fair selection of soups and sandwiches too. It may not be Quizno's or Subway, but the meals will not disappoint. I definitely plan to make a few more trips here to try everything!

DeAnne L.

Yelp
Love love love Nichole's! One of our favorite places for my girlfriends and I to catch up on a Saturday morning. And yes creme brûlée can be for breakfast. :) Honestly Nichole's has tons of amazing items from quiche, to tarts, to croissants, to sandwiches and delicious salads. The customer service is top notch as well.
google avatar

Myla X.

Yelp
The best quality cakes (and a few well done pastries) in the area. They have a small but decent selection every day, but take orders for special cakes. Enjoy your treat!
google avatar

Yelp
Best place to get a ridiculously delicioud European style cake or patisserie in Fargo. Besides French macarons, try the coconut macaroons... So moist and decadent. They come in bags you can bring a dozen home. They also make gelato.
google avatar

Tamara N.

Yelp
My husband and I visited yesterday (first timers). We each had a tarte (I had the lemon and he had the fresh fruit). They were delicious. The crust was a little too sweet for my taste, but it was an indulgence. We each had an Italian soda... actually, my hubs had an Italian cream soda... neither had any flavor. Just colored soda water. Which is the reason I cannot give 5 stars. Will probably try again during breakfast or lunch.

Daniel B.

Yelp
If you are trying to avoid new addictions, forget Nicole's Fine Pastries. You will be addicted. Nothing is ordinary or just okay. Everything is superb, and leaves you wanting more. My granddaughter usually takes a bite of something and then might nibble at it over the next day or so. She devours everything she gets from Nicole's. That's the best endorsement there is.
google avatar

Fiana Sachi E.

Yelp
Perfect!!!! Love it! Wouldn't change a thing. Nicole's has a nice mixture of cafe style dishes and desserts. Service is wonderful and the ambiance is quaint and cozy. The Creme Brûlée is fantastic. The custard is made with fresh vanilla bean and the consistency is light yet rich and complex at the same time. The Fruit Tart was perfectly topped with seasonal fruits and the crust was buttery and flaky. The Coconut Cream Pie was yummy with a scoop of fresh whip cream to top it off. The Vanilla Tea and Chocolate Panna Cotta is surprisingly light but very flavorful. Today's soup was a Pulled Pork Stew which was absolutely perfect for a cold windy day.

Yelp
This place is absolutely magical (if you're not dieting). The pastries are made with perfection. I love the creme brûlée and key lime pie. The kids continuously beg to come here for the little bags of cookies. I haven't had the chance to try their espresso drinks yet but am looking forward to. The fresh squeezed lemonade in the summer is wonderful. The owner is pleasant and great to work with when placing expensive orders. A definite must try!

Yelp
What a fun brunch! We went for a quick bite and it was so good! I had the Quiche Lorraine and cup of the Chicken and Rice soup, my brunch date had the Andouille Egg Bake and the same soup. The quiche was very good with caramelized onions, bacon and brie (I didn't eat the crust, but it looked nice and flaky). The egg bake looked just as good and was told it was good and spicy. The soup was fantastic. Thinking it's just rice and chicken, it should be bland, but it had quite a nice flavor to it and was filling! On the way out we had to stop on the pastry side and grabbed the last few cannoli's left and took them to go and share with neighbors later in the day. All in all it was a delicious, laid back and unexpected brunch, with the sweetness following is home!

Katrina O.

Yelp
Do not waste your time or money. We had a truly negative experience: MEAL - We waited 5 minutes to order food, it was another 10 minutes before it was delivered, and another 15 minutes for the beverages to be completed (which we had to pick up). I was shamed into tipping (for placing the order!) by the surly counter lady. DESSERTS - After waiting in line for 30 minutes, I placed the order and then another 10 minutes to pay and pick up the desserts. By the time I returned to my table, my tea was cold the counter lady treated me as though she was doing me a favour by giving me a hot cup of water! There are too many negative things about NIchole's that would hinder us from returning or recommending it to others: 1) You have to clear your own table! 2) Staff were surly with very poor customer service skills. You are forced to tip for their poor service and rude behavour. 3) You must pick up your own coffee (no delivery), and you must CLEAR YOUR OWN TABLE. 4) DIsorganized - there is no reason in the world why there should be such long wait times for food and beverages, and why WE do their work by pick up our food and beverages and clearing the table. 5) High priced. The food was good, but everything else turned the event into a nightmare. They DO NOT deserve anything higher than 1 star.

Yelp
Found inch long black hair in my dessert, when I called the shop, they didn't seem to care. Super disappointed.
