Nick and Sons Bakery Opens in Greenpoint - Eater NY

"Nicholas Heavican makes one of the city’s best croissants: It’s caramel-colored and shaped like a gibbous moon with an unmistakable smell — butter. Since 2018, when Heavican opened Nick and Sons Bakery in Williamsburg, customers have waited for his pastries in lines that snake down the block. They were so popular that in 2021, he opened another location in Spring Lake, New Jersey. Now, a third Nick and Sons has appeared. On Tuesday, Heavican opened at 892 Lorimer Street, across from McCarren Park in Greenpoint. The bakery sells several croissants in — almond, za’atar, and everything seasoning — plus cardamom buns, fruit tarts, and other baked goods. By the end of the week, there will be margherita and soppressata pizzas, too." - Luke Fortney

Exceptionally crispy croissant! The exterior was nice and crunchy, and the interior was incredibly fluffy. While it didn’t have as many layers as I’d hoped and the butter flavor, though present, wasn’t very strong, it was still a delightful croissant. The bakery itself consists of a warehouse with no seating, just a bar area.

At Nick + Sons, the croissant does not whisper—it crackles. Hidden behind graffiti-streaked doors and a line of stroller-pushers and oat-milk loyalists, this bustling Greenpoint bakery hums with a quiet certainty: if you’re here, you’ll wait—and you’ll be glad you did. The pastries emerge deep-burnished, shattering under light pressure. The chocolate croissant is lacquered like a violin, its lamination crisp and authoritative; the cardamom bun twirls itself into a sugar-dusted soliloquy, aromatic and surprisingly restrained. But it’s the plain croissant that startles with precision: salty, buttery, and utterly serious. Inside, the place is all brick and bustle—an industrial warmth, where bakers work in open view, and the espresso machine steams without drama. This is not a spot for lingering, but for reverence. One bite and the line outside makes sense.

I've come up to this place via Google maps and the numerous reviews, but honestly, I couldn't find any reason for coming back. The quality here seems very average, like their prices. Tried the chocolate croissant, the blueberry Danish, and the cinnamon roll. The croissant was way too mushy and with no texture, felt like a frozen dough. The Danish had some volume but you must forget about the fillings. The roll was more enjoyable and the only one with a texture and I'm not a cinnamon fan. The place is somewhat different than the other bakeries, and this is a plus. I stopped by mid Sunday Morning, and there was no line. However, 10 minutes later, they were packed. I Left very confused.

Google
Yes, please. Huge and comfy space. There are plenty of servers who are nice and friendly. BUT it's these pastries that make this place IT. These pastries are just OUTSTANDING. The plain croissant was sold out at 10:45 am, so I opted for an apple tart (mind-blowing) and a cardamom bun (one of the best I've had in NYC and I am a little ashamed to admit that I've had my fair share). I would journey for these pastries and I expect I will.

Google
I've seen this spot numerous times on Maps and on social media, but I unfortunately could not understand the hype. 3/5 Everything Bagel Croissant with cream cheese filling -- I'd hardly call this a croissant, maybe a slightly buttery roll. The lamination of the pastries in other Williamsburg/Greenpoint bakeries far out does this croissant. Also the amt of filling was extremely disappointing (see photo), I would barely call it a shmear. I visited on a Friday around noon, they were sold out of most things I wanted to try based on other reviews.

Google
I would recommend getting here as close to opening as you can. I got there 2 min after they opened on a Saturday and it had about 12 people inside already. That being said, I will definitely be back. The croissant is flaky, buttery and delicious. If their basic croissant tastes this good I can only imagine how amazing everything else must taste.

Google
on a windy February day, nick & sons has their garage door entrance wide open, inviting customers in with the choice of entering through the regular human-sized doorway (also propped open), or in a more accommodating manner, allowing cyclists or those pushing strollers to glide right in. this particular invitation speaks to me so loudly — as a cyclist myself and a parent who often finds themself strategizing the complexities of simply getting inside any particular business with children in tow, I immediately feel myself having love for this place. (yes, we’ll get to the baked goods in a minute.) past the doorway, the space is cavernous, but not in a way that confuses the flow of traffic. the cyclist who entered with their bike as I waited for my latte, easily passed through the ordering and paying stages of the experience without anything seeming awkward or judged by staff or other customers. I love an opportunity to leave my lock at home and not have to worry about the safety of my bike. more importantly, in my mind, a space where even a double-wide stroller could flow through like a river, is quite incredible (more so than even owning a double-wide in brooklyn, because really, where can you actually go? answer: nick & sons.) on to the pastries. on my first visit (notably, with two children in tow), we ordered 4 pastries: raspberry danish, blueberry danish, plain croissant, and a cardamom bun. for the first 3, the pastry elements were perfectly papery thin. the kind where most of it ends up on your jacket or sweatshirt and, if you’re a pastry-lover like me, find yourself trying to collect with delicate fingers after the rest is all gone. while stupidly trying to split a piece of the raspberry danish off from the rest to give to one of my two small kids, a sizable blob of delicious raspberry creamy cheesy goodness plopped down onto my jacket, which I then diligently swiped with a finger and did not let go to waste. for my second visit, I took another route, despite having spent the entire ride over there dreaming of a sweet pastry. upon entering (I chose the large open garage door over the human-sized regular door), I immediately saw ~4” high focaccia sandwiches sitting on large trays behind the counter, that I didn’t see listed on the menu. when I asked what they were (I honestly couldn’t even repeat back the details), I stopped the nice person behind the counter halfway through the second one, choosing that one, and their next question was, “do you want a corner piece that’s a bit crustier or something towards the middle that’s a bit softer?” to be asked that particular question exemplifies their care and attention for texture sensitivities; so important to be given that choice! be warned: you definitely need multiple napkins. it wouldn’t be proper focaccia if you didn’t. dislikers of messy sandwiches, go somewhere else and miss out on deliciousness. pretty sure this one was a combo of burrata, some version of sliced pork, maybe something that starts with a “c”?, and a generous pile of dressed arugula and red onions, on an oily dark rosemary and onion focaccia. thick, soft, with crispiness on top of where the bubbles in the dough puffed up. great texture, great flavor. the staff, both times, were incredibly kind, clearly happy to be working there, and comfortable. will definitely continue to return.

Google
DELICIOUS… the sweet pastries are ALL good (have yet to have less than a 10/10 sweet) but don’t sleep on the savory or the SANDWICHES!!! Amazing. Great service too.

Yelp
This was bakery number 5 of the day, and it made me wish we got croissants at every place so I could appreciate just how good this croissant was. We also got a razor clam (custard and chocolate pastry) that I thought was just fine, but this is a 5 star place simply because the croissant was that good. Lots of indoor space to stand and the vibes were good.

Yelp
I love the cold weather. Why? Because I can strut into places like Nick + Sons bakery with no lines! My wife has a hair appointment in New York City. I said while I'm waiting, I require fresh baked goods to keep me occupied. I make it my mission to hit up the hottest Yelp spots that have everyone buzzing. I walk in and see a bunch of hard working folks baking delicious treats. I think I'm in awe at this moment, this is some operation. My wife picks a savory treat but my mission is to get an almond croissant. I walk up and place my order. The gentleman tells me I just purchased the last almond croissant. Huzza! The early bird catches the flaky pastry.. We grab our coffees and settle into the small dining space. The almond croissant was all that and then some. The almond paste was held in place by a flaky croissant exterior. Man, that was just incredible. I strike up a conversation with the counter guy. He tells me Nick traveled overseas to learn their croissant techniques. Nick, you nailed it. I was just in France (not Paris) and this croissant was better than anything they offered.

Yelp
The best croissant in Brooklyn, maybe even NYC! I've tried many bakeries but I always go back to Nick + Sons because of their croissants, especially the Za'atar and cheddar and chocolate. They're smaller than other bakeries but by far, the flakiest, most buttery, perfectly baked croissant I've ever had. I've tried their other items but nothing else comes close.

Yelp
Best croissant in all of NYC - this is in comparison to Jean George's Tin Building, Radio Bakery, Bakeri, L'Appartement 4F, La Bicyclette, Dominique Ansel, and even some bakeries I've had in Paris/Normandie France: Chez Meunier (along with some others in Galleries Lafayette), Moderne Boulangerie (the famous bakery featured in Emily in Paris which actually received a top 3-5 croissant nomination with a Grand Prix designation), Ritz Comptoir, Conticini, local neighborhood pâtisseries in France, etc). My partner is also a French National and gave his stamp of approval of Nick and Sons having the best croissant in NYC. So he has a lifetime/25+ years of prior croissant tasting experience from the Motherland. He's spent the last ten years as a NYC resident trying out bakeries that are close to authentic, French Patisserie levels. The croissants here were perfectly buttery, not dense, and the texture inside had a nice pull to it. We ordered the plain croissant, cheddar and ham croissant, sesame and cheese pull, and a baguette to go. Now the baguette was a little more dense to our preferences, but still good nonetheless. To the other reviewers who claim that any croissant is good out of the oven clearly does not know anything about cooking or baking. Some of the other reviews on here give me a good laugh as I question if some of these reviewers truly tour the world for baked goods. Dare I say, if I asked one of them to make a croissant from scratch, they wouldn't even have the slightest clue on how to make a croissant to begin with...baking and cooking is truly science and art combined, and these bakers deserve true respect and acknowledgement for it. I can say that I've had a solid 100 croissants in my life (obesity and high cholesterol hasn't hit me yet...knocking on wood!), and can safely attest that Nick & Sons Bakery deserves this 5 star review for all around best croissant in NYC. I will be bringing my French in-laws for a croissant should they be craving one when they visit us in NYC.

Yelp
Best zaatar croissant I ever had. Crispy, buttery and the star of my all my weekend food dreams. I'm not sure if there was social media hype around this place where lines go out the door but at this point, I can tell you they have small lines that move fairly fast. I tried their razor clam croissant which is filled with custard and dark chocolate, not gooey at all, as you'd imagine, but I'd give this one a miss. Their cinnamon roll has powdered sugar, no frosting but also very very good. A+ for you Nick and Sons.

Yelp
One of my favorite croissants in the city! Not sure if I'd consider it your most classic French one (le bicyclette is ur best option for that) but it sure is delicious. If you are fiending for particular pastries I'd recommend going very early as they are sold out of a good amount by early afternoon. I love the zatar croissant, its flaky and buttery and pairs really nicely with a cappuccino.

Yelp
Wonderful bakery! We came here around ~10 AM on a Saturday, and the line is definitely long, but moves fairly fast. Got to the front in 20 minutes, but a decent amount was sold out, so beware. We got the honey bun and za'tar and cheddar croissant. The honey bun had a really nice crunchy and sticky exterior. The interior was nice and fluffy, and helped balance the sweetness from the honey. The sesame seeds also carry quite a strong flavor which I really liked. The za'atar croissant was fairly interesting. On the smaller side, and definitely on the oily side. When splitting the croissant apart, the oil oozed onto our fingers. I personally didn't mind and thought it gave a wonderful richness alongside the za'atar, but definitely could see some disliking that. I do wish both the za'atar and the cheddar were stronger though! Awesome spot, will be back!

Yelp
I was told Nick + Sons have the best croissants in nyc! I made my way to the bakery on a weekend afternoon around 12pm. Most of the pastries were already sold out, with only a few croissant options remaining. There was a short line, but we were served quickly without hassle. I got the Chocolate and Za'atar Croissant. I ate the Chocolate Croissant right after purchasing it, and it was piping hot; I could tell it was fresh out of the oven! That being said (and it pains me to say this) I don't know if I got the hype for them..? It was a pretty good croissant (what fresh croissant isn't): crispy, flaky, and airy on the inside. But I would seriously not go out of the way to get them again. I ended up liking the Za'atar Croissant much more. I was a little let down, but I would say the pastries here are still delicious. I would come back to try the savory items I didn't get to try today, if I'm ever in the area again.

Yelp
Came at 10:07 AM on a Sunday and they still had most things in stock except for the cinnamon roll and cardamom bun. I tried a plain croissant and almond croissant. Both were good, but far from the best croissant I've ever had. The plain was the better of the two, but it lacked that ideal buttery flaky balance. Considering the hype, I felt like it was a letdown. You can get better croissants at La Bicyclette. 3.5 stars.

Yelp
Ended a weekend jog at Nick + Son's recently, excited to refuel with a delicious pastry. By the time I got there (about 12pm on a Sunday), most of their top sellers were sold out.. which, to be fair, I should have expected! I ultimately ended up getting a chocolate croissant. It was delightfully crisp with indulgently buttery layers. Chocolate was nice and sweet, a perfect ratio with the pastry, and creamy. To wash it down, I ordered a cold brew (they have parlor coffee). Would recommend to anyone in the area, but if you have a strong preference or a specific item in mind to try, definitely go early!

Yelp
We love the OG location so picked up a chocolate croissant, raspberry danish and apple tart. Was surprised to find that my chocolate croissant didn't taste fresh and wasn't flakey like I remember. My husband enjoyed his danish but said he's had better. Sad about the decrease in quality.
google avatar

Erin Y.

Yelp
I LOVE their croissants. the most flaky and fluffy. can't get enough. be sure to get there early, the regular croissants usually remain which obvi are super solid. one table outside. very grab and go. super nice staff too
google avatar

Samantha D.

Yelp
Came by after reading so much about the bakery. It was toward the end of their opening hours, so there weren't too many options left. The menu board in front had a lot of things crossed out. I ended up ordering a plain croissant and an apple tart. Plain croissant had beautiful honeycombing and layers. The outside was crispy with a buttery interior. One of the top croissants I've had. The apple tart was perfection. The apples still had a tiny bit of crisp. They were spiced so well without being too sweet. The laminated dough paired so well with it. If I got it fresh, it would have been infinitely better. Since I arrived toward the end of service, they gave me an extra plain croissant on the house. I definitely want to come earlier one day to try their other offerings.
google avatar

Faith-Carmen L.

Yelp
I had hands-down the best chocolate croissant of my entire life from Nick + Sons bakery. The owner was super considerate and nice, explaining to me that renovations are why they were lower stocked that day. Regardless, the croissant was buttery and perfect
google avatar

E W.

Yelp
Review for their breads only: Nope. Under/Overproofed/underbaked bread. Bread that has raw dough or tastes of raw flour. Foccacia that is dense, over salted, and greasy not in a good way. After trying the place more than I should have I have came to the conclusion they just might not know how to make bread. Will try in 6 months.
google avatar

Jae H.

Yelp
Loved their croissant! I try to go when the lines not as long but excited to try their other pastries. They run out pretty quick so I recommend going early
google avatar

Eunice C.

Yelp
I finally made it early enough to Nick + Sons before everything sold out. We ordered the plain and everything croissant, with a blueberry sumac Danish. The service is quite fast as there are no tables, you just order at the door. When taking a bite out of baked goods while fresh, you get sent to another universe. So crispy, so buttery, without being overly heavy. Am I dreaming??
google avatar

Abigail J.

Yelp
Visited NYC since my friends moved out here and they told us their favorite place for croissants were here (I love croissants!) Food: Got a plain croissant, chocolate croissant, and a vegan chocolate chip cookie. The croissants are DEFINITELY worth a try! Loved the chocolate to croissant ratio and loved the layers in the croissant! Service: Man who took our order was really nice! Customer service was great even if it was very cold outside and had a line! When I'm back in NY, definitely coming back here for some croissants!!
google avatar

Nafisa H.

Yelp
I came here because of the rave reviews specifically for the chocolate croissant and cinnamon roll. When I came I got a cinnamon roll, a chocolate croissant, and a blueberry danish. I really enjoyed the cinnamon roll because it wasn't overly sweet but it felt a little dry. I think I maybe got a bad croissant because it tasted a little burnt and there wasn't a lot of chocolate filling. The danish was tasty but didn't blow me away. Overall a good bakery and I would consider going back.
google avatar

Rosetta S.

Yelp
Great service, friendly staff and nice vibe. Sadly, the cardamom bun had no cardamom flavor at all. Very disappointing. It just tasted like sweet bread.
google avatar

Katherine Z.

Yelp
Arrived at around 9:15 on a Saturday morning and only had to wait about 10 min in line. I got a plain croissant and was expecting a normal, unmemorable tap my card and leave experience. But just after I paid at the counter, the guy who handed me my croissant came back and handed me another, saying it was because the first one he gave me was a bit small. This gesture was so kind and I appreciated the attention to detail. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary with the croissants to be honest. Best of all, the croissants were hot, fresh, flaky and buttery. I'll always remember this experience and will be back to try the other goods on the menu.
google avatar

Blaire B.

Yelp
What's to say that hasn't already been said? Yes these were the best pastries I've ever had. I walked to Nick + Sons on a gorgeous Friday morning and waited in a very short queue to order - they have a sandwich board out front with the daily selections and you order from a table right at the entrance. I snagged a few of the croissants and danishes and a cold brew to go. I could tell just by looking at them these pastries were no joke. Y'all I could cry just thinking about the fact that I live in Texas and can't have these again tomorrow. They were ethereal. The knowledge and expertise it takes to execute puff pastry at this level cannot be understated. These pastries were gorgeously flaky, delicate, and perfectly balanced in flavor. Every single bite felt luxurious. Even the cold brew was incredible and I'm picky about coffee!!! Very smooth. Basically, if you haven't been to Nick + Sons, you owe it to yourself to get there ASAP. Before the lines get so long you don't stand a chance.

Caroline P.

Yelp
Really yummy, the croissant was perfect- so flaky and buttery and the seeded sourdough very good too- chewy in the best way and so fresh. I wanted to try more of their pastries like the danishes and cardamom bun too- they looked so good!

Olivia K.

Yelp
I dream about this ham & cheddar croissant. Everything I'm ever had from this bakery is perfect, but the croissants really take the cake. Baked to perfection!!
google avatar

Kristi C.

Yelp
SO GOOD. The freshest pastries. Super friendly service! Usually a bit of a line on weekend mornings because everyone wants their goodies. I got the roobois pastry and it was so refreshing & fresh tasting. My friends loved their chocolate croissants. Would 100% recommend!
google avatar

Allison C.

Yelp
The best croissants I've had in New York! The chocolate croissant was a fan favorite, but the ham and cheese was good too. Less into the chorizo and cheese bun I got - I think the croissants are the star here for the texture and flakiness
google avatar

Laura B.

Yelp
Amazing! Delicious! Always a line though. They're moving soon to Greenpoint. Will miss them
google avatar

Angela Y.

Yelp
4.5 stars (May be a five if I try the croissant next time!) came here on a Sunday morning around 10, and waited maybe 10 minutes in line. My friend got the ham and cheese croissant and I got the honey bun, and a cinnamon roll and baguette to go. The honey bun was interesting, flaky on the top, soft fluffy dough inside, with a not too sweet glaze topped with sesame seeds. The cinnamon roll was very good, so soft on the inside with the perfect amount of sweetness where you could eat the whole thing and not be sick. I tried a bite of the croissant and while there wasn't much ham, the croissant was flaky (although on the more buttery side). Baguette was very solid, nice crispy crust and soft bread. Definitely want to come again and try more!
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
Best croissants I have ever had. Probably better or on par with that in France but I'll let the French debate that. I don't usually choose croissants and didn't even plan on coming but stumbled upon a line outside the shop and decided to pop on over. They had times for when certain items come out the oven but I decided on the ham and cheese and their vanilla and chocolate. You have to eat these fresh. I mean why else would you wait in line. The ham and cheese hit all the notes. Savory and pungent with the cheese while crispy and soft with the exterior and interior. It was heaven. The vanilla and chocolate was also great. I had this when it was cold so not as good but I'm sure it would've been great fresh out of the oven. Line moves pretty quick so just get in line and start looking over the menu. Breads, pastries, danishes - I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.
google avatar

Sara W.

Yelp
i got there at 11am and most of the pastries were sold out :( but the croissant was so flakey i get the hype!! the service went beyond and gave me another pastry :)

Yelp
Almost tempted to not write a review to gate keep my favorite bakery in NYC but that feels like a public disservice. Arrived Sunday morning at 9 am and there was no line- around 10 am, there was definitely a substantial line so if you go, go early! We got a number of things to share - Razor Clam: amazing! We loved how buttery and lightly sweet the layers were. The vanilla custard and chocolate chips were evenly spread throughout the pastry. We wanted to get another one but it was sold out by the time we returned at 10 :( - Blueberry Sumac Danish: this one was my personal favorite! The croissant dough was light and buttery as well and just thin though that I didn't feel greasy and oily after eating it. The layers were well defined and puffy so it felt like a substantial bite full of flavor without being overwhelming. The vanilla custard was AMAZING. Someone feed this to me by a spoonful. - Chocolate Babka- this one was disappointing. It was really dense and the chocolate flavor was not super pronounced. I wanted it to be more moist but the flavor was pretty muted throughout.

McKenna J.

Yelp
Everyone is so friendly! And the ham and cheese croissant is delightful. So happy to have found this bakery across from the park (:
google avatar

Sydney G.

Yelp
Like others, I hesitated to write a review in fear that these croissants become harder to get than Taylor Swift tickets. Not a T-Swift fan, it just felt relevant to the times. But damn, this is a 5-star no hesitation croissant. I don't care if the line gets longer, I'd wait all day. By all day I mean an hour tops. Anyways, best croissant in NYC. Maybe best I've ever had. Period. I can't get past their butter croissants, so that's all I can comment on, for now. But if they make a croissant that good, I'm sure anything they touch will be a 10.
google avatar

Hsin-Yi W.

Yelp
Nick + Sons was recommended from one if our friends who is super picky with pastries and they told us there is nothing bad at Nick + Sons. We tried their Almond Croissant, Maple Butter Biscuit, Cinnamon and Chorizo Cheese Balls. Everything is amazingly delicious with delicate texture. Our favorites were the biscuit which was creamy & soft and the chorizo cheese balls which has appetizing fillings. We will plan to visit again for their signature sourdough or apple tart.
google avatar

Shelby V.

Yelp
There is no indoor space at this location- you either walk up to the register or you wait in line outside until you get to go inside to the register. I was actually shocked there was a line which is what made me stay to see what the hype was about. I wasn't very hungry so i got a single sesame danish and kind of was expecting something like the turkish simit or a sesame bagel. That was not the case and it was WAY better than expected. Buttery and still warm- the sesame on it was just enough to make it slightly savory and fluffy inside. Absolutely worth the wait. I look forward to coming back for more another sunny day!
google avatar

Najin K.

Yelp
Even during the pandemic on a weekday morning this place had a line. But it's worth it if you are getting anything with the croissant pastry. Therefore get the croissant or any of the other croissants or the apple danish. The other danishes did not have the same dough. Also The line moves super quick!
google avatar

Katherine B.

Yelp
Best place in East Williamsburg for fresh bread and pastries. This small shop just off of Grand street is the one of the unsuspecting wonders of Williamsburg. You know it's good because the line of locals that frequent this bakery know that all the best danishes go before 11 am, and Nick and Sons knows we will come crawling back for more every Thursday - Sunday. This bakery has become a quintessential piece of my New York experience and their sourdough loaves are a household STAPLE. There's nothing quite like a hearty piece of bread, made affordably and just a short walk from home. Believe they do some special coffees (lattes, etc.) but the Partners cold brew here is an easy grab for me each week. You must get there early and grab an assortment if you don't live in the area! The earlier you arrive the more likely you are to be able to pick up the good danishes. Always a hit when I'm bringing something home on Sunday's. 5 stars for the friendly service, the excellent quality croissants, danishes, and bread, and for all the community love. We love you Nick and Sons!!

Yelp
Wonderful bakery, freshly made croissants and treats. Plus delicious and fresh breads baked dai

Yelp
Some of NYC's best croissants and pastries. Had a classic croissant and a sort of croissant pastry with chocolate and cream. Both were great. As with all of the best croissant spots, the hours are limited.
google avatar

Mars C.

Yelp
BAKERY LOOKS SCRAPPY, DINGY, LIGHTING IS DIM AND DOESN'T LOOK LIKE A PLACE GOOD TO BE A FOOD ESTABLISHMENT. The 3 stars are for the space and also the staff that don't wear hair nets to avoid hair falling into the breads/baked goods. However, the staff are nice and friendly. The croissants are my favorite. I'm a cinnamon lover but unfortunately their cinnamon bun doesn't make the cut. It doesn't have that strong cinnamon flavor which is key and it's mixed with sugar which isn't necessary making it blah. Plus the dough should be lighter and less dense. The space you choose to sell your product is also as important. It represents how much you care and shows your commitment to providing an overall wonderful experience. Renovate or move to a new well lit, very clean and organized space.
google avatar

Anjali M.

Yelp
I get pastries from here at least once a week and they have been amazing each time. Definitely get there early since they sell out of stuff fairly quick. Their croissants are the best I've had outside of France, their pastry dough is flaky, buttery, and freaking phenomenal. Recently tried their chocolate babka and it's my new favorite thing. Their cold brew is also very good and the staff is friendly and really nice!

Yelp
Best croissant in the world, yes including Paris Also rad seeing Nick linger around every once in a while.

Yelp
Hands down the best croissant I've had to date. On a chilly Friday morning around 9 AM I just finished dropping off my dog for Boarding at Strutting Mutts across the street and was trying to yelp a good place for coffee. I was just about to skip and go home until I started driving and saw four people already standing outside of this walk up bakery. I pulled over immediately because if you see a line in New York you're compelled to wait in it. The staff was just as friendly as the customers waiting. Grabbed a chocolate croissant and an apple tart as recommended by a patron and indulged in flaky heaven when I returned home. Will definitely be checking out their pizza. Also some of the best coffee, the kind of coffee that gets to the point and doesn't screw around. If you're not a morning person, this will make you one!

Yelp
What happened?! Nick and Son's used to be the best croissants in NYC. But today we went and they were super bready, spongy, and in the dozen we received, wildly inconsistent. These were Key-Food level croissants at high-end bakery prices. Is there new management or a new head baker? I'm so sad we loved Nick & Son's croissants.

Yelp
Yeah this place really is as good as everyone says it is! There is always a line, but it moves fast and is worth it. Best bread in the neighborhood. Savory croissants and danishes are only served on the weekends. Coffee and cold brew is also available. So yummy. Pretty sure they're only open Thursday-Sunday now. My danish was probably the best danish I've had in my life. It puts all other danishes that I had thought were decent--to shame. This place has almost a cult-like following and you'll understand as soon as you try it. Writing this review has made me want to go back...tomorrow!

Yelp
Have been wanting to try their croissants for a while!! I went on a weekend and waited in a line with about 15 people, it didnt take too long. The menu is extensive, and I tried to plain, zatar, and chocolate croissants. The chocolate croissants were small so they threw in a few extra which was really nice. These are really well-made. The outside shell is definitely a SHELL. It is crispy, and shatters when you bite into it. Really interesting. Trying to rip it apart was a little disappointing bc it just ended up crushing the croissant, when I wanted a fluffy chewy texture. The inside was still chewy and they were flakey and flavorful, but these arent the butteriest/fluffiest croissants ive had.

Yelp
Best croissants in NYC The pizza is fun too. It's only available on Friday's. I wish they would add the weekend exclusives to their online preorder system. It's the only downside because often the more fun items like za'atar croissant or chorizo and cheese balls go fast. Sometimes it's just impossible to get these items most weeks. But seriously, best croissants in NYC and the vegan cookie is supreme.

Yelp
This bakery is still one of my favorite in the city. I went back hoping to grab some croissants at the end of the day but alas they were sold out. I was pleased to find that they still had apple tarts (5/5) and apple buns (4.5/5) which I have been wanting to try so I got a couple. And again, just wow. The tart is so nice with apple cinnamon buttery goodness and well balanced and flaky, like their croissants. And the bun was also really good. Keep on doin what you're doin, Nick + Sons!

Yelp
best croissant I've had in my life. Saying this after I just spent 6 days in paris eating fresh croissants every morning. Gorgeous looking croissant that was wildly flakey, and had a soft, melt in your mouth, almost mochi like interior? With the perfect amount of chew. And so flavorful. I was mesmerized by how the inside of the pastries looked after taking a bite. the danish and vegan cookie were good, but will mainly be back for the croissant
