"The North Oakland pizza spot specializes in damn good thin-crust sourdough pies. And they're serving them in a bigger space just up the street from their original location. You can order them in two different sizes (12 and 16 inches) and build your own with toppings like homemade pork sausage and pickled cherry peppers. Other reasons that'll keep you coming back: Nick’s housemade bread, spacious patio, and pretty solid deli sandwiches." - Lani Conway

Tried Nick’s for the first time last Thursday and they did not disappoint! Great wine selection, great prices for homecocked italian. The vodka pie and the chicken francese were truly exceptional as well as the caesar salad! The staff is super attentive and very kind. Needless to say I’ll definitely be back

After receiving recommendations from a number of local friends to check out Nick’s, the pizza and newly renovated restaurant did not disappoint. Brought my toddler and they were supper accommodating. Great pizza and atmosphere.

Nick’s got a facelift! It looks great. With a spruced up interior and exterior, Nick’s pizza is the same food we always enjoyed and the same family atmosphere, with a fresh new feeling.

Not good at all. Only no disrespect white people loved them. I ordered 3 times just to make sure my order was right. Enen tip the guy when I left . 6 baby class for 19$ don't make no since... I even called once I was home they knew they was wrong and tried to offer me another order. But who feels like walking back to the restaurant. Why would they do not from the first place. I never ever use my black card in NYC but now I think it was all because I'm black. Let me see how can I post my order here. And the people will tell if I'm wrong or right.

Food is very tasty 😋 Quite place with incredible music 🎶 They are very friendly I recommend this restaurant

Google
Absolutely LOVE this place. The food is authentic and simple yet perfect! I can’t believe I haven’t tried this place until now. Staff is friendly, attentive and the food came out quickly. The calamari was perfect and not too much batter or chewy. I can’t recommend this place enough if you’re in the area and want some good Italian food. The pizza is not too thick or thin and crust is perfectly crispy. Very pleased with this place and can’t wait to be back! Thank you!

Google
This place is newly renovated, and I often get their pizza for the office, it’s always a hit! The crust is perfectly crispy, and the ingredients are fresh and high-quality. My favorite is the bell pepper, pepperoni, and onions. So good! 🤤

We recently enjoyed a family style meal at Nick's and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant is beautiful and we were seated at the best table, in the corner with floor to ceiling windows on either side. The food was delicious and the service was great. We will definitely be returning soon.

Yelp
Made a reservation for a Monday night after I saw a pic on Instagram of their chicken franchese and wanted to try it. The redecoration along with the Christmas decorations were nice. There were about 3 other tables seated when we arrived at 7pm. The menu had a variety of pizza salads and classic Italian dishes. All of the portions were large. I liked that they had single and family style options. The chicken in every dish was so tender and thin; it was delicious. Most entrees were $20-$30. I didn't like how the way charged an additional $5 for pasta. For dessert, we had the brownie sundae with ice cream (which was extra)! Definitely skip this. The brownie was terrible, overcooked. Another table got the cannoli and the tiramisu which looked delicious but also pricey at $14 each. I would return and definitely split the family style. It would be a great deal between 2 people. I'd like to try their pizza next time!

Yelp
Very good NY style pizza for the UES. The space seems newly renovated as well. I shared the spicy soppresseta with hot honey pizza and it was very solid. A little soggy but crust and flavors were still excellent. We also shared the fried calamari which had a great batter and the red sauce to dip was superb. The brussel sprouts were just ok.

Yelp
AMAZING - ordered takeout the other Friday night and it arrived in exactly 20 minutes. The pizza was delicious, will definitely try again

John M.

Yelp
Got a margherita pizza for dine-in lunch. Nick's pizza was delicious as always and service was fast, friendly and efficient.

Gregg R.

Yelp
I came here with a party of 4 on a Monday. It's wasn't very busy but we were seated immediately. I ordered the chicken francese. The chicken was very thin and tender. I ordered it with pasta. The dish overall was very good. Someone else got the bolognese which was very tasty but salty. We finished the meal with the brownie and ice cream (ice cream was $2/scoop extra). The brownie was warmed but overcooked and dry. Do not get the brownie dessert. The service was quick and allowed us to sit and talk which was nice. During the winter everytime the door would open it would get a bit chilly inside. Overall I enjoyed the meal and would return to try other dishes.

Yelp
Still can't just order a slice here but it's a nice sit down experience to enjoy a full pie with friends. Or, by yourself if you're really hungry! Any size pizza can be a personal pizza if you have the will!

Amanda W.

Yelp
We got take out from the new and revived Nicks pizza. We ordered the Eggplant Parm and the Lasagna for 1. I loved the eggplant parm, it was nice whole slices of eggplant, not like the super thin ones from other pizzerias. And the lasagna hubby said was good. We waited about 20 mins for the takeout so definitely plant ahead. We would like to visit restaurant next time as it was bustling!

Kassie E.

Yelp
So happy we discovered this neighborhood gem! Ambiance: - Went on a Friday night around 8:30pm and it was not busy at all. Maybe 15 people, so we were sat right away. - They have indoor and outdoor seating. Service: - Fast and friendly! Food: - Calamari (3/5) - just okay. Portion was enough for two, but flavor was bland. Not bad but did not standout. - Salad (4/5) - Salad was good, but felt a bit warm/ soggy. It was a hot day, but salad could have still come out a bit more fresh. - Pizza (5/5) - Honestly really good. Will definitely come back for the pizza.

Yelp
I came here with some coworkers after work for an early dinner. The interior had a classic old style to it with wood furnishings. We ordered a few dishes and shared them. We ended up getting the Fried Calamari, Pepperoni Pizza, Shrimp Asparagus Pasta, and Caesar Salad. I loved the Calamari, which was perfectly crispy and light, with tasty seasoning. The pizza was also quite yummy, with melty cheese, plenty of fresh, juicy pepperoni, as well as basil. Pasta was cooked al dente with a decent amount of tender shrimp, but I wasn't a huge fan of the asparagus and it was lacking flavorful sauce. Caesar salad had a ton of Parmesan shavings, croutons and powdered cheese, but I'm not really into this type of salad. Service was pretty good. I'm not sure I would return because the food was just okay.

Peter W.

Yelp
It's been a few years since I've eaten here, I live out of town. Came back and they have remodeled, looks great. Now for the good news, the pizza is just as delicious as previously. If you haven't tried eating here I highly recommend you should give it a try. I had a pepperoni well done and it was perfect. Ate the whole pie myself!

Yelp
Great neighborhood Family owned traditional Italialian restaurant on the upper east side. just renovated with the addition of a nice bar for dining .

Greta R.

Yelp
Great pizza, really nice ambiance. The pizza was the highlight on the menu. Our server was nice as well

Yelp
DON'T GO! ! New management is OBNOXIOUS!! We used to go to Nick's regularly. It just reopened after renovations. Twice we've walked out. The first time I did adjust reopened and there were two of us and we asked to sit at one of the empty tables by the window that was a table for four. They told us no, despite the fact that they're only two other tables with people at it. The second time we went, there were three of us. The front room was fairly crowded. They sat us in the back room that had only one other table with people at it. We were seated at a table for four, and I went to put my bag on the fourth chair, but the manager removed the chair. He told me firmly that I couldn't use the chair because we were only three people at the table for 4. I noted to him that there were many other chairs and if the room filled up I would move my bag. But he insisted that our table for four should only have three chairs despite the fact that the room was empty. And he said so very rudely. 2x walked out. Very said this is happening. We really liked the place. Try the other places nearby like Soledad and the Chinese place.

Claire K.

Yelp
Stick to the pizza. Have loved their pizza for years but was in the mood for pasta after a long day so ordered take out. First time ordering takeout and first time dining after the remodel. I ordered stuffed mushrooms and spaghetti limone and both tasted like they were made with cheap ingredients from key food across the street. The mushrooms were stuffed with a dry AF breadcrumb mix but had a solid sauce that made up for it. The Spaghetti Limone made me wish I had made chef boyardee. It was clearly boxed pasta with just a touch of olive oil and barely any lemon, cheese or chili. Tasted more like a kids buttered noodles cooked on a budget. SO bummed to have had such an awful experience with a neighborhood staple. Again STICK TO THE PIZZA!

joyce s.

Yelp
The pizza was super expensive and very soggy. I ordered once before and it was good. Tonight's order was tasteless and a disappointment .

Yelp
Nick's Family renovation is a hit! The comfortable seating outdoors are inviting, the green color palate perfect for family, friends and corporate occasions. The new marble bar is a fantastic place to have a solo lunch, quaint date, or that million dollar contract. Super impressed with the owner's kindness, humility and new vision for Nick's. Did I mention there is a pizza with honey-spice flavor? You must try it! My go to is their classic Caesar salad and a side of meatballs. Hope to meet you there!!!

Ashley M.

Yelp
Clams were too small, but good. Pizza was delicious !!! Cannoli tasted more like cheesecake but was still good.

Darren Z.

Yelp
Really great pizza and salad! Very nice staff too! This is a neighborhood favorite and it's easy to understand why. I love their pepperoni pie the most for pizza and for salad my go to is the arugula salad that comes with their delicious honey Dijon dressing. My favorite thing about their pizza is the cheese they use and how they incorporate the fresh basil onto every slice.....speaks volumes about the quality this place has IMO. Highly suggest for anyone in UES looking for a great pie and salad.....and they have a lot more great items too!

emily

Yelp
LOVE THE REMODEL. Walked past this place one day and it immediately piqued my interest. I realized I've been walking past Nick's for years and have never tried it. We ate here on a busy Friday night while the Yankees were playing. It was such a fun atmosphere while maintaining the quality of service and professionalism. The food was fantastic and portion sizes were great for the price. We loved the fried calamari and will definitely be back to try more of the menu out.

John H.

Yelp
Received the order within the time quoted, but when it came the pizza was completely wrong. I caught the error and asked the delivery guy if he had another box, he didn't. His bag was empty. I got the 2 sodas I ordered, but the large half mushroom, half anchovies was instead a half plain with basil leaves, the other half was pepperonis and sausage (which smelled funny). It was close to closing, and the delivery guy didn't have any other orders, so either mine was already delivered somewhere else, or whoever decided to make this pizza said F it and gave me whatever toppings or someone else's pizza that wasn't picked up? It was cold when delivered and it WAS 80° today. Tonight it was still warm and the pizza came out of a warming bag. Dunno how this pizza was this cold that fast, unless, like I said, they just pawned off someone else's old pizza on me. Pretty crappy. If someone DID get my half mushroom/half anchovies, I hope they like anchovies.

Joel S.

Yelp
Solid place. It's a step above a typical pizzeria, but below the typical UES Italian restaurant experience. The staff were earnest. Salads were OK. Pizza was good, Neapolitan style. If you want pizza in a more civilized environment, this is a good call.

Kerry D.

Yelp
REVIEW: All of their food is truly so good. I expected a restaurant like this to also have a bomb Caesar salad....but i was sooooooo disappointed their Caesar was regular degular and not good at all. Boring overpriced. Dressing was eh. Very little parm and croutons. Someone wrote last month that it tasted like bagged salad from Costco- SPOT ON!! They should look at ways to be more creative with their salads in my opinion. It's a great first impression if that's what ppl order to start. Hope they can take the feedback and incorporate it into improvement.

Bast B.

Yelp
Nick's is a nice family restaurant that is quiet and a place you can go to have a meal and conversation. The service is sparse and lukewarm. The restaurant itself is clean and inviting. The food is highly overpriced. Ordered the veal parmigiana and saw that there was an additional charge of $6 on the bill for spaghetti. Apparently I misread the menu and the charge was correct. If I had not ordered the spaghetti, I would have paid $37 for a piece of veal alone, served with nothing more. what?!? Ok well the veal parmigiana and spaghetti I received tasted great, but for nearly $50 bucks for one plate for one person at a super casual restaurant, I would pass on this place. We also got a pizza. This was so interesting because they have only 2 sizes to choose from and no preset combos. You have to choose your own toppings and pay for each individually $3.75/topping. We asked for garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, and arugula. The crust of the pizza was delicious but I have to agree with other yelpers that the crust is soft/flimsy. The sauce is good, the cheese was good but they dont cook the toppings. The garlic was not browned at all and the arugula was raw. The tomatoes were salty, should have gone with fresh tomatoes but who knows how that would have been presented: sliced? Chunks? Grape tomatoes? Some places do things a certain way so we just accepted it but the worst part of the pizza was that they were not careful and it also had pieces of basil on it-- just was not prepared for those bites and didnt care for the strong fresh raw basil flavor. So much potential for this restaurant to really up its game. I wouldn't go back again but if they worked on their customer service, had better prices, and rethought the pizza situation, maybe I would.

Scott C.

Yelp
We are from out of state so we wanted to give the New York style pizza a try. We ordered Nick's to go. The pizza was very good, sweet sauce and the basil was very fresh. Very pleased with the service and the pizza! Would definitely stop in again!

Kate M.

Yelp
We ordered delivery of both chicken and eggplant parmigiana. Shocked to see 3 slices of burnt eggplant swimming in tomato sauce with just a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Chicken was pounded so thinly that it was unrecognizable as a protein; also drowning in sauce. So disappointed as we gave enjoyed dining in on salad, pizza and penne.

William H.

Yelp
I'm sorry to say but this place is wildly overpriced for what it is. While the ambiance is pleasant, the service is quite brusque and the food is bland for the cost. $14 for a Caesar salad that tastes like it came out of a bag from Costco? $21 for a plate of Penne with meat sauce that isn't anything special? How does one spend over $40 before tip on such a meal? Really outrageous. So many better places for Italian food. Will not return.

Dani L.

Yelp
Don't recommend this place at all. Went to pick up my order and when I got home and saw the pizza I was disappointed. There was barely any cheese on the pizza and it was pretty pricey. Charged me $14 for a small salad and $16 for a side order of meatballs. Nothing special. Happy I tried the place but won't be coming back. The service was also not that great because when I came in to get my order I asked how much each item on my order was. Clearly the guy attending me looked upset I was asking about the price. I asked him because I couldn't believe I spent over $70 on a large pizza, a small side salad, and side of meatballs that had 4 meatballs.

Cindy O.

Yelp
Perhaps a little more expensive than area casual restaurants, but food quality very good.

terry m.

Yelp
The pizza is very good thin and crispy with just enough sauce and mozzarella Service is not always the best and the ambiance is typical for a pizzeria Pasta's and other southern Italian dishes are available Wine is available Prices are a little high for pizza but worth a try

Andrew L.

Yelp
One of NYC best! Only style thin crust pizza. Always great. Been here many time constantly good.

John M.

Yelp
very good food and service. We ordered catered food for our Christmas party and it was all delicious. Reasonable and plentiful and followed up with a call to make sure we were happy. Loved the eggplant, chicken, broccoli rabe, and pasta especially good!

Ruby B.

Yelp
This place was amazing! We ordered it in and it came fast, and I had the baked ziti, and there was this layer of cheese on top and everything was just delicious about it. The rest of my family got pizza and loved it. I strongly recommend going or ordering from this restaurant.

Cece J.

Yelp
Great pizza and pasta restaurant where you get a lot of food for your money. You can order individual or family style but prepare to have a lot leftover either way. The food itself is pretty good and standard classic red sauce Italian. However, the chilled wine is what keeps me coming back the most. Service is fast and attentive. The interior is spacious and cozy. They also have outdoor seating and a big back room for private parties.

Lisa R.

Yelp
Goodbye Nick's This is/was one of my favorite restaurants. We always order their large/family style Caesar salad with crisp lettuce and homemade dressing and in house croutons that 3 or 4 of us look forward to enjoying. The menu has changed. No more family size, it's an individual size serving (good for 2), same great dressing and croutons but it's $16 and the lettuce wasn't crisp. Another favorite side vegetable, sautéed asparagus w/garlic. Outstanding, but now gone. Bummer! I never did think like their pizza crust, but my family likes it. Margherita pizza at $28?? Our order: 1 Caesar salad, 1 Mediterranean salad, 1 large margherita pIzza, 1 side of meatballs (3) and a glass of wine. $104! So sad. I heard there is new management. Not sure if it's true, but I won't be back. Try Delizia Pizza 2 blocks south on 92nd & 2nd. They have the most lovely brick walled dining room in back with white tablecloths, reasonable prices and excellent food. They also have live jazz Thursday-Sunday.

Cindy S.

Yelp
Best Pizza on the UES great cannolis and pastas are good too Casual but nice Staff very attentive

Marija K.

Yelp
Second time ordering from this place and both times pizza was completely cold Last week I ordered pizza and garlic bread they charged me for mozzarella sticks and they didn't send me garlic bread or mozzarella sticks I didn't want to make a big deal bcs pizza was ok they delivered cold but I warm up and was ok Today I told them that I'll come and pick up they said 20 min I was there 25 min from my call and they give me my pizza completely cold and tell me I was late Guy on the register was very rude and nasty so today he really make sure that I won't order food for them anymore When I told him pizza is cold again and I have 4 pies he started to argue with me to the point when I told him if u don't stop I will just leave this order and walk away I definitely don't want to come back there ever again and I would recommend you so many betters pizzerias on second Av who will appreciate you and when you tell them. Food is cold to not take it personal and fight with customers Never again!!!! 0 stars for costumer service 2 stars for COLD PIZZA

Laura R.

Yelp
Service was fast and food decent. Penne vodka said it came with meat and onions but they weren't obvious in the dish. Mussels with white sauce were tasty with only suggestion that the garlic be roasted more first. Meatballs were very... smooth... as in heavily processed and not like Grandma's that would have onions and meat chunks visible, and these instead were all one consistency caused by mass production. High chairs and outdoor seating available though and fast service was a high point for them.

Don C.

Yelp
Relaxing and clean atmosphere. $11 lunch sandwiches. The chicken Parm sandwich was tasty and the bread nice and soft lightly toasted inside - tangy sauce, but the chicken itself was kinda too thin. If it were just half and inch think - I'd be a believer. But thanks Nick - I'll come back for a pie.

Tessie V.

Yelp
3.45/5 This is a COVID review (Takeaway only) We live really close to Nick's but usually spend our time at the nearby pizza join Deliza. During COVID time, we saw they had re-opened and felt like we should support them. We ordered half anchovy, half sausage, whole mushroom. It was forty bucks. The anchovy side was ten times better than the sausage. The sausage they use is a bit odd. It's more of a crumble texture, not that flavourful. The pizza is fresh, and the sauce is a basil kind of base. The wait was around 30 minutes. While I mostly did enjoy the pizza, it was a bit too expensive. I don't see myself coming back. Especially since you can only order whole pies.

Shannon S.

Yelp
I came here with two friends for Dinner. Having lived in New York before, I know that the best NYC pizza is at the hole-in-the-wall types of places, but Nick's had been highly recommended to us, so we decided to check it out! It was a nice evening, so we were seated outside. We ordered a large pie with chicken and mushrooms as our toppings. The pizza definitely looked good when it came out. However, although the crust was crispy on the edge, the middle of the pizza was a little soggy. Overall the pizza was good, but not the best I've had. Our server was very attentive and timely with our meal, which I appreciated! He even made sure to bring extra napkins for our pizza. Nick's is a great place that has plenty of seating for small and large groups and has a cozy, family-like atmosphere that makes you feel "at home" when you dine there.

Marianne W.

Yelp
Twice now my daughter ordered Nick's delivery. It's Brick Oven Pizza. No problem with the taste and texture. It's really really a great pizza. The problem is with the price. A large pizza with three toppings delivered with tax and tip was $49.00! The pizza might be $24.00 but each topping is an extra charge. The pizza fed two adults. One is a big guy. The highlight is you can select various toppings on the same pizza. Another of our favorite pizza places nearby will not allow more than one topping and it's thicker crust. Moral of this story: You want delicious, quality pizza fixed YOUR way AND delivered, it's gonna cost ya! Enjoy!

Manuel M.

Yelp
This place has the best Margherita pizza I have EVER had. I discovered this place almost 20 years ago when I lived on UES and I try to go back every now and then. Their alfredo is also knock-your-socks off good in my opinion. I hope they never go away.

Jeff R.

Yelp
I love Nicks.. They always greet us with a smile and there's usually very little wait time. They do indoor and outdoor seating and the place gets packed as the weather gets warmer.. Let me start off by saying the house Sangria is legendary. Even when I don't dine here I always have a desire to order a Sangria but unfortunately they don't have a bar. The food is sooo good always fresh and tasty. We usually have the calamari (5/5) and Salad for appetizer and for the entree you can never go wrong with the chicken Parmesan. I personally enjoy their pizza !! Overall the perfect place to get an excellent meal or a quick lunch.

Evan F.

Yelp
Food was mid at best. While the restaurant itself has a cozy "Italian" feel, the fettuccine prosciutto was sloppy/wet with little flavor and bread was stale. The host seemed mad we were there but the server was ok.

Jason W.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch, ordered a margarita pizza half cheese half pepperoni and it came it all pepperoni. After bringing it to the waiters attention that the pie was wrong and we don't eat meat he walked away and did t return until he brought us our check. This place was recommended to us but very disappointed wasted the whole pizza

Mike N.

Yelp
Nicks pizza was a quarantine discovery for me. While I had it previously, It became my go to for UES pizza during covid. Their Margherita pizza is absolutely perfect. The sauce is delicious, fresh cheese and the crust has the prime amount of char. It's my favorite thing on the menu without question. Other dishes I enjoy include penne vodka, and chicken Parm. While I enjoy the pizza more, these dishes are also very good. Their Caesar salad also delivers really well, and is good too. I can't think of anything I've had I did not like. Highly recommend giving them a try.

Athena A.

Yelp
A small pizza was 35 dollars... and it's had about 6 olives and basil which I did not order. The crust taste like cardboard and def no value for that New york cost. Of this was a gourmet pizza fine but this was just a basic Zza....as former pizza shop owner I think I be embarrassed of this was my product No repeat on this

Matteo R.

Yelp
Decent pizza in a nice, large restaurant that also has outdoor seating facing 2nd. Ave. As far as pizza, this is a no-frill margherita pie plus a choice of various toppings, from roasted peppers, to sausage, from meatballs to broccoli rabe, etc... The pie comes in 2 sizes: small (12", $20) and large (16", $24), and each topping is an extra $3.5-5. For the two of us we opted for a large pie with meatballs and broccoli rabe. The crust is thin and a bit on the dry side, which is usually the case for any non-brick oven pizza[1], but overall the pizza is solid for a neighborhood joint. My main issue is the cost. As you have to pay for any topping you want on top of tomato sauce and mozzarella, the cost can get pretty steep pretty quick. In our case $33 for a pie with just two toppings. Ouch! ---------------- [1] Gas oven in this case

Sage B.

Yelp
Everything was just okay. When we got there the restaurant was pretty empty. The food was fine the veal Milanese wasn't that good (the sauce was super tasty but the meat was not so good). The pizza is better than average but for the price point there are better places around. Lastly there pastas aren't stellar either. The service was fine the food took a little long to get here but all in all was okay!
