"A beloved subterranean spot for Asian street food and creative cocktails in Harvard Square has closed: Night Market shuttered after dinner service on April 18. Executive chef Jason Tom’s kitchen was known for putting out tasty bites, often with humorous names, like numb nuts (Sichuan peppercorns, garlic, palm caramel, Korean chili, and peanuts) and lick ‘em sticks (steamed rice balls with crispy garlic, chili and black beans, scallions, and sambal aioli)." - Terrence Doyle

"Night Market is a graffiti-covered basement that’s constantly packed with what seems like way more people than the fire code would allow. If you’re guessing that this makes it a really fun place to drink, you’re right (though they only have a cordials license). But this isn’t just a bar. The Asian street food menu is good enough to explore even if you’re not doing it with the aid of a sake slushie. Luckily, you can do that with two different tasting menu options. For just $42, you’ll get to sample some seriously spicy dan dan noodles, tea smoked duck crostini, and more." - Dan Secatore

We really enjoyed out meal here. The food really was a fusion of Asian street food and we ate every last bite. Service was nice. Place is a bit small and the decor leaves a lot to be desired, but all in all we has a great time.

First time here, Ash, our waitress was very helpful with explaining how the menu works. Food was very delicious. Not your typical sit down dinner where appetizers come first then meal, food comes out as it’s ready. I highly recommend the Diakon fries! Space is small but comfy. Will be back when I’m in town. I was also informed that they will be having a pig roast every Friday for the rest of the summer! Yum

One of my favorite places in Harvard Square! The prices are very reasonable, and the vibe is super unique! Great for young people or a cool date! I loved the sake slush!

Night Market was such a nice cozy little place to eat. The food is great and there is a lot of old Chinese Communist propaganda art. Definitely coming back to try the drinks next timw

Colorful, funky basement serving an interesting selection of dishes based on Asian street food. Some were very good, as were the sake based cocktails. Some didn't come off as well to me but I'll happily go back again when we're in the area.

Dear Waitresses, Bartenders, Servers, etc. of Night Market- Please let me know where you end up and I will spread the word and bring my friends to support you in your new venture. It seems like you may be suddenly on a job search given the sudden closing- we want to help however we can. All the best, M ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One of the most unique spots in Harvard Square and possibly my favorite. A breath of fresh air in a sea of fast casual chains and generic, upscale pub food. A variety of Asian street food inspired dishes, priced to size. Go family style with it so you can try items from both the standing menu and the rotating seasonal specials. We had the Chicken Larb, Lick 'Em Stick, Crab Rangoons from the Chinese New Year Menu, and Sweet Toast for dessert. Very fun and satisfying menu. The Lick 'Em Stick was a stand out dish- balls of sticky rice that you roll in a spicy aioli followed by a downright addictive mix of crispy garlic, scallions, and fermented black bean. The mix had such incredible savory flavor we ended up putting it on everything! Very casual, young vibe. Street art inspired interior with some cool plating touches that match the decor. The food came quickly, rolling out as it was ready. Attentive service. Small space, so come early to snag a table. I'll be back with more friends for dinner- hoping to take my fiancée here for the omakase menu for a fun date night.

Very modern, funky and nice place! Great food and the staff is friendly. I can recommend the spicy checken wings but also the daikon fries as well as the tacos.

The food was delicious. I had the chef's special chicken and coleslaw. It was the best fried chicken I ever had. the food was decently priced and came out of the kitchen at a reasonable pace with the size of the crowd. My only complaint is that it is really tiny and the bar area too narrow for the amount of people they try to service there. I would definitely come back, at a less busy time.
