One day a week, this artisan bakery turns out limited, blistered pizzas from its deck oven—an insider ritual that Springs Magazine says is worth the line. ([springsmag.com](https://springsmag.com/elevated-pizza/?utm_source=openai))

The sourdough bread is a masterpiece. The pastries are great. But seriously, they have to get better at managing the line. It shouldn’t take 5 min for a single person to place a bread order.

Google
I've traveled a lot and consider myself a foodie. This place makes the best sandwich I've ever had. Spicy Italian - no onions. (Don't worry, it's not too spicy. It really feels like I found a hidden gem every time I order here. Their bread is also phenomenal. Grab a loaf, get there early before they sell out!

Matt Carlos

Google
This place is awesome! They offer free sourdough starter if you bring your own container which was a pleasant surprise! I didn’t try any of their breads/pastries but they all looked fantastic.

Suzie Bauer

Google
All their menu items are amazing. The cherry walnut bread was divine! And of course I never stop without getting a morning bun!

Google
Oh hello. I was curious about this place because the hours were so limited but holy mother. This place is *outstanding*. Everything we tried was delicious. Like EVERYTHING. It was all incredibly reasonably priced as well? Nightingale is mostly just a window to sell their goods out of, so there is no where to sit in inclement weather. That said; we went on a nice Saturday morning and there were a bunch of picnic tables to enjoy our breakfast at. We got: -Fennel and fruit roll. Whole wheat roll w licorice and dried cherries and raisins I think. It wasn’t bad by any means but everything else was just so good. — Morning bun. Good lord inject this into my veins. Cinnamon puff pasty in a muffin like shape. Perfect texture -Everything roll - croissant scraps mixed with garlic and everything seasoning. Super delicious. - Italian focaccia. We ate this later in the day but it was fantastic too. By no means a heathy breakfast, but definitely a delicious one. I completely understand the hype.

Google
Fantastic experience. We got the seeded red loaf and a few pastries, and they were delicious and very affordable. We got to meet the owner David and he was so kind and friendly. We will definitely be back!

Google
On the first freezing morning of the season, I joined the line before store opening and bought sourdough rye, ciabatta and a jalapeño-cheese roll. Enjoyed with homemade vegetable-bean stew and Danish smoked salmon smorrebord, the bread was gobbled up in a week!

Google
This place was so cute and they were very friendly. The baguettes are beautiful, airy, delicious and have a nice dark crust on the outside. Top notch! We also got their ham n swiss croissants which were really good. Nice soft layers inside and dark golden on the outside. Some lovely locals in line for the bread as well, who we chatted with while we waited. Another woman highly recommended the seeded bread and said it's great for sandwiches. We would definitely come back each week for bread staples. Their boules were really good looking too.

Yelp
The loaves at Nightingale are good. Whole, they present a perfect shape, crust and color. Once you cut into the loaf, the structure per piece is holey. I know it may not be as easy with sourdough, but I wish a 2/3 - 3/4 inch slice had integrity enough to serve as one of two slices for a sammy. Wish there was a dense sourdough option, though I understand that's a little counterintuitive for sourdough perfectionists. Happy this independent company is making a go of it. Making bread at 6,000' is a science and an art. Algorithmic references: friendly service, quick pickup window

Yelp
I don't just hand out 5 star reviews but this is an easy one. The line was long when we were there but it was so worth the wait (not to mention that we wouldn't have known this was the place to go had the line not been around the whole building). The ham and butter sandwich was incredible, the morning role was epic, and the Italian sandwich was delicious. Simple, fresh, homemade food that tastes wonderful. This is a must if you're in th Colorado springs area!
google avatar

Yelp
I love this place! The food is great! Service is good, they are busy, so you might have to wait in line, but it's worth it! My only complaint is that they are closed every timee I try to go. I always want to swing by on Sunday after church, but they're closed Sundays, which I can't complain about, really. But today is Tuesday afternoon, and guess what... closed! How can a small business survive?
google avatar

Yelp
Fantastic sourdough and you can buy half loaf since it is so large. Sandwiches are excellent. The Italian is great and it is enough for 2 meals. L

Yelp
This is the only bakery in Colorado Springs that makes premium French bread (baguettes). They now cost $5 a piece but so worth it. First price increase since 2017.
google avatar

Kathryn P.

Yelp
Cute place that has some good things. Personally, I am not willing to wait in a long line for sourdough bread that has more holes than actual bread. I had heard good things about their sandwiches and stopped in a week or so ago to try one. Was not happy about $15 for a mostly bread and lettuce sandwich. And when I got it home, I discovered it wasn't even the one I ordered.

Harold L.

Yelp
The bread here is awesome. Dislike the wait at times but honestly it's worth it. We had a naturopathic doctor recommend the red as it's easier for digestion. Awesome with chilli, soups, and sauce! Have tried the fruit bread to. That is also amazing toasted and smeared with good butter!!
google avatar

Marion M.

Yelp
This is the best bakery in Colorado Springs! Be sure to try their French baguettes. On Saturdays you can get seeded baguettes which are excellent! They have plenty of other wonderful items, even hoagie sandwiches. There's always a line, but it's worth waiting.

Yelp
My new favorite breakfast, brunch and bread spot in town. Nightingale Bread does a fantastic job with the quality of their products. Take your pick of classic pastries such as the traditional pain au chocolate or stock up on a loaf of bread for the week. Whatever your choice, it won't disappoint. I am also a fan of their location. Nightingale sits with other restaurants and businesses in the bones of what I believe was an old elementary school. An innovative way to bring life back into a place! Seating is primarily outside, patio style, but you can also find seating inside the old school building hallways between the other businesses. You can find easy parking in their free parking lot. A big win in my mind.
google avatar

Alexis R.

Yelp
Be sure to get here early- a line forms before they even open! I was there too early to try one of their lunch sandwiches but enjoyed a few of their smaller baked goods to go.
google avatar

Jewel A.

Yelp
I absolutely love everything about this place. Whether that's the ambience, customer service, quality of baked goods . . . I always feel like I'm Belle heading into town for a baguette when I come. Please don't change and always be part of are community. You bring not only delightful bites but bring community together. Even waiting in line is enjoyable, no heads buried into black screens, but rather Neighbors coming up with reasons to talk to one another and greet each other's pets. I only wish a butcher and cheese maker would move in Nextdoor.
google avatar

John N.

Yelp
This is really easy. Get there early. Get the seed bread. More loaves than you think you need. They keep for a long time if you double paper bag them on the counter or also in the fridge double bagged. Plus they freeze really great and you can either cut them ahead of time and leave them sliced in the fridge or take them out and thaw them when you are ready to eat them..

Ray B.

Yelp
The Best place in town for Breads... highly recommended!! Lots of great sourdough breads through the course of a week.
google avatar

A. G.

Yelp
Good sandwiches and bread, but for $15, they should allow a simple substitution (mayo for the balsamic vinaigrette), which they don't. The rigidity and dual lines (for bread/sandwiches) speaks to a lack of desire to accommodate, which honestly they're not that good enough to have attained.

Lily K.

Yelp
amazing pastries, totally reasonable prices. service was incredible. long wait was worth it!
google avatar

Tim V.

Yelp
Best baguettes in town and maybe that I've ever had. I try to grab one every week. Support this small business.

Therese S.

Yelp
I like the sandwiches, but waiting 20 minutes in the blazing sun is not good. They are very slow. Suggestion, how about text the customer when the food is ready? So I could go for a coffee next door. Can I order ahead, that would be awesome.
google avatar

Jonathan M.

Yelp
Just the best ham and butter sandwich I have ever tasted !! And very good coffee and beautiful outside sitting. The molasses cookie is not to be missed !
google avatar

Liz A.

Yelp
Honestly the bread is great when you can get it ,thats the problem for me. .The long lines at 8:00 am ,running out even before you close ,and then the obscure hours .i feel like this is an episode of Seinfeld NO BREAD FOR YOU Two out of three time no bread .I get that the product in demand that part is wonderful ,but the business model and customer service don't make sense . Time to fire up my own oven .

Gene Z.

Yelp
Recently moved back here and needed a baguette for a recipe so checked this place out. Everything about the setup is interesting and the bread is an answered prayer.
google avatar

Jackie B.

Yelp
We try to get there each Saturday for the Foccacia. Great loaves of Red or blonde wheat bread and some delectable morning rolls, flavored scones and we are lucky, a baguette!
google avatar

Jordan S.

Yelp
Yikes. $14 for a very average turkey sandwich. Sandwich and bakery orders have to be processed separately which doesn't make sense, and because of this I didn't bother standing in line for a second time to try out a pastry. I won't be coming back.

Ann Marie H.

Yelp
Employees are helpful and so kind! I have digestive issues and this is the only bread I can tolerate. I love they use Artisian grains and grind it themselves.

Cindy M.

Yelp
Nightingale Bread is the real thing. Wonderful healthy tasty bread. Their to-go window is very convenient and has the yummiest perfect size sandwiches, croissants, quiche, breakfast snacks! Also good coffee at a great price.
google avatar

Rebecca B.

Yelp
Worth the hype. The best bread and croissants in Colorado Springs. The breakfast sandwich is heavenly and my search for the best chocolate croissant in town is finally over. There was already a long line at 8am on Saturday -- get there early if you can!
google avatar

Dawn W.

Yelp
Best artisian bread, pastries, pizza, and ALL! Be patient for the BEST!! Check the hours first.

Yelp
We were scouring the whole city for a bakery that had marbled rye for our post St. Patty's Day favorite, the reuben sandwich. After realizing it's not really a thing around here we settled for the next best thing, or so we thought. We picked up an $8 loaf of rye bread on Friday only to find the outside crust was hard as a rock and the inside still raw. We were looking forward to our sandwiches but it ended up ruining our whole dinner, as we didn't have any other bread option. It was such a disappointment.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
The bread and sandwiches are out of this world. The bacon scone was incredible. It released a sensation hitting every taste bud. It was pure ecstasy in my mouth. I wish I could say the same for the service. The guy taking sandwich orders was surly and seemed to have slipped our order behind his five friends/regulars behind us. The wait was terrible and watching the people behind us enjoy their sandwiches and bakery items at the picnic tables while we stood and watched was frustrating. Good help is hard to find. Kind of stilted the entire experience, hence the 4 stars.

Yelp
Oh my lord... Nightingale Bread is perfect. Full Stop. Perfect. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Even in the midst of COVID Nightingale Bread has been able to retain the charm of their adorable little shop, and while the line can grow long (and socially distanced!), they work through it quickly. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Nightingale Bread has affordable prices across the board. From sandwiches to massive loafs of foccacia to individual cookies my Mom and I were in and out of there with an armful of breads for $15.00. Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? Everything, and I do mean everything, was perfect. The ginger molasses cookies - amazing. The salted dark chocolate chip cookies - amazing. The Italian Spice foccacia - amazing. This was heaven in the form of carbohydrates. Two Stars. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? No doubt. Star.

Yelp
Pizza at Nightingale Bread It's one of the best Pizzas I ever tried, considering the flavor of the dough and the quality ingredients with a rustic flavor definitely I would say the best Pizza in Town!!

Real K.

Yelp
Everything was amazing! The sweet potato bread is popular, but very filling. The sourdough has lots of flavor. They also gave a small selection of baked goods and quiches. Be prepared to stand in line outside. Their store is unusual in that you don't go inside. It's a counter at the entrance. The staff are friendly, and the line may be a bit long. I will be back for sure. We took our goods to the coffee shop next door for something to drink, and to sit inside to enjoy our treats.
google avatar

Angela L.

Yelp
Freshest pizza ever! You taste the hearty ingredients from local farmers that this bread and pizza shop offers! Love the concept and best of all, the taste and ethics. We were so relieved our friend whose a local in the area told us to arrive half an hour early on a Saturday morning. The line filled up as opening time approached! Omg and boy oh boy, you do not like to see me hangry. I couldn't have imagined waiting any longer to take a bite of the freshly baked slices of pizza with cheese dripping down! Honestly, I don't remember which 3 pizzas we bought, but I do know that you can't go wrong! I'd take a flight back to Colorado in a heart beat just to eat the pizza again!

Valerie Y.

Yelp
I seriously struggled with this review because I will be the first to admit their breads are out of this world. Deliciously different, sizable, and unique. BUT when it comes to service when you're there and reliability of information regarding their store, they are highly disappointing. As a local who looks forward to getting their amazing baked goods, there's nothing more frustrating than trusting they are open, driving out of my way, and finding they decided to close for the day or their hours have changed again and yelp/google etc have it wrong (which has happened on multiple occasions). And then being sassed when you do manage to get in while the store is open just adds to the distaste... I do recommend eating there, just make sure you don't get your hopes up when heading there.

Yelp
Wonderful handcrafted bakery items. With every morsel the labor of love that produces their items pours through.
google avatar

Garrett D.

Yelp
The hype is real. As someone else mentioned in the line, "what other bakery in C Springs has a line like this?" We purchased a Roasted Cauliflower and Romanesco Sauce sandwich, and Pear & Cardamom scone, and a Morning Bun. The sandwich was phenomenal, with the flavors complimenting just the best baguette. The scone was the best one I've ever had (and I've had a fair number thanks to my wife), and the bun... oh my. Paul Hollywood would give everyone in this place a handshake. Nothing I've had quite like it.

Mary Ann S.

Yelp
Best bakery in the Springs. Morning buns and croissants are divine. Try the daily bread - amazing fresh loaf for the week.

Travis W.

Yelp
This place is a treasure. Top 5 breakfast sandwiches in town for only ten bucks! Best bread in the land. Highly recommend. The line is worth it.
google avatar

Sydney C.

Yelp
When I say this is the best bread I've ever had, I really mean that this is the best bread I've ever had. I ended up getting four of the rolls because they smelled so good, and it was the best decision I've made. My only regret is that I didn't buy more than 4!! The texture of this bread is absolutely exquisite, and the flavor is as well. The cheddar is masterfully woven into the bread, and the leeks add a wonderful element to the overall flavor. If you're in Colorado, do yourself a favor: go to Nightingale Bread!!!!
google avatar

Ali M.

Yelp
Incredible every time. If you provide good bread, the people will come- and that's exactly what Nightingale is doing.
google avatar

Corrie S.

Yelp
Have you ever had bread that makes you want to cry because it's so good? Get your tissues ready. This bread is very very good. Whenever I have a dinner party, I like to snag a loaf. It's sure to dazzle and impress. I love this spot and the pizza on the weekend is worth every penny. It's probably my favorite pizza in Colorado Springs. The suspense of having to wait and get it on Saturday is kinda part of the fun. On Saturday make sure you get there early, so you're not at the back of the line. Then go get a beer and wait for the best pizza of your life. You probably think I'm being dramatic, but I'm not. It's that good.
google avatar

Josh N.

Yelp
Possibly the best bread in the world, right here in Colorado Springs. Also have incredible croissants.
google avatar

Evangelia S.

Yelp
The focaccia was made in heaven! We also had the ham asparagus quiche and it was delicious! We had to drive out of our way and we were so glad we did! The staff at the counter was extremely friendly too!
google avatar

Matt H.

Yelp
My Gawd. I can only rate this place for the Saturday pizza, but if that's all I ever got here I would be a happy camper. I reminds me of authentic, handmade, old-world pizza I've had in Italy - only... better. Simplicity is king here. They use fresh, local (when possible), premium ingredients in their pies and it's absolutely reflected in their end product. It certainly doesn't hurt that their competition for quality pizza is (very) limited in this city, but considering you can only get it once a week - it's worth waiting for. Expect a line and a bit of a wait (15-30 minutes) but your patience will be rewarded. Go grab a beer or four at Goat Patch and the wait staff there will even be so kind to go pick up your pizza at Nightingale when it's done. Can't beat that service!
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
5 star bakery by far, but, this is an eval based on one loaf of bread that I normally wouldn't buy. So, with that said, it would be safe to assume that everything else is delicious. I am looking forward to trying the pizza on Thursday or Friday evening.
google avatar

Arthur N.

Yelp
Holy FXCKING SHXT. This place is amazing. I just committed carbicide and my only regret is that I have but one life to give. Finding a good bakery in Colorado is like finding an icicle in hell. And yet, Nightingale FXCKING SLAYS. I'm so impressed. And I'm snobby AF. The raisin fennel buns, the Italian table bread, the blondie... it's all so good and the technical expertise required to pull that ish off at this altitude is next level. Very impressive.

Zuri B.

Yelp
Some of the most excellent bread I've ever eaten, you can taste the unique grains. Love their cauliflower sandwiches, perfectly balanced. The pizza could be better, maybe more fermentation, maybe a little more salt/sweet in the dough, maybe a little thinner to make it more crispy and toppings more distinctive and fresh toppings, less oil or vinegar? But truly I could recommend their bread to everyone from anywhere and feel good about the recommendation. We made french onion soup with their bread and it was so good.
google avatar

Janelle M.

Yelp
AMAZING Not much more to say other than that. And that covers their staff, their selection, their ingredients, their commitment to quality through and through. I come back every time I'm in the Springs and they never disappoint. The cookies are delectable and my favorite savory item is the poppy seed and chive pull apart. Breads are incredible and we often go out of our way to get them! Their bread is JOY!
google avatar

Devin R.

Yelp
I'm never going anywhere else. This place is so excellent. The quality of the bread. The care. The technique. The exclusiveness. The options. I can go on and on.

Alyssa M.

Yelp
I like Nightingale Bread - best bakery in town in my opinion. I wish they had a little more variety (unless they carry things not in the case) and were open on sundays. Planning on trying their pizza soon.
