Orlando’s 38 Best Restaurants - Eater Miami

"Ermias Hailab and Abeba Gonetse introduced many in this town to fare from the “Cradle of Humanity” when they opened Nile in 2006. Now, 17 years later, tourists and locals alike come to scoop boldly spiced stews and meats with spongy, tangy injera from communal plates inside Nile’s cozy digs. The post-meal coffee ceremony alone is worth braving the I-Drive traffic for." - Faiyaz Kara

Such a great and yummy experience! The workers were super friendly and informative of the food culture. The injera was soft and a perfect pair for all of the stews. We had vegetarians and meat eaters in our party, & everyone loved the food. You also gotta commit to eating with your hands and feeding your loved ones. Definitely recommend if you’ve never tried Ethiopian cuisine:)

Went here with my partner for Florida vacations. This place introduced me to Ethiopian food and had me hooked onto the cuisine ever since. The injera bread is nothing like I’ve ever eaten (sourdough is closest thing I can think of in taste). I loved wrapping the savory fillings/dishes on top into the bread on the bottom. And the ceremonial coffee! So interesting. You have to come here on an empty stomach, because the portions are really filling and cheap for the amount you get. It’s so good, my partner and I dogged the food within 30 minutes when we visited for the second time here. The atmosphere of the restaurant is quiet, yet inviting, cozy, with nice music playing in the background. Servers were always nice and amicable.

I had a wonderful experience at Nile Ethiopian! It’s a family-owned business, and you can genuinely feel the warmth and authenticity as soon as you walk in. Buka took care of us, and he was absolutely amazing. I was trying Ethiopian food for the first time, and he went out of his way to make sure I was comfortable and enjoyed everything. The vibe, the hospitality, and the food were all fantastic. Highly recommend visiting this gem!

I always enjoy coming here, especially when I get to share a combination platter with a date—it’s the perfect spot for a relaxed, memorable meal. I’ve visited multiple times, and each experience has been consistently good. The food is always fresh and flavorful, and the service is friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The restaurant is also very spacious so you can dine here as a couple, family, or as part of a large group. Overall, it’s hard to find anything to complain about.

We’ve been here several times and the food has always been great. The Chef’s pick has delicious variety of beef, chicken and vegetable dishes. They can also up the spice level if you prefer it that way.

This place is amazing. The food is always so wonderful and rich in flavor. It is a gem of an eatery on I-drives recycled chain places. If you want something special come here.

Google
Staying at a Universal Studios hotel in Orlando I didn't expect many great vegan options but just by our hotel we found Nile Ethiopian. We love Ethiopian food and they pretty much always have a vegan plater you can get...so that's what we got. It was as delicious as expected and I highly recommend any vegans looking for a good dinner to stop by here and enjoy!

Google
This was a gem of a find! I’ve been looking for an Ethiopian restaurant in the area and was thrilled to find this one. The service was great. The food was delicious, but in comparison to other Ethiopian restaurants I’ve been to, the portions were small and the price was pretty high. It was definitely good, but a bit on the pricey side.

Yelp
The food is amazing. I love their tibs the alicha and the injera is fresh. Their customer service is very heartwarming to say the least and they have an extensive menu.

And of course there are a couple of vegetarian options to choose from.

Yelp
This was our first Ethiopian food experience. If you are considering trying this type of cuisine, don't hesitate giving Nile a try. The food was amazing and the service was just as fantastic. We ordered the Chef's Special and were blown away! The flavors of all of the items were incredible. The bread that is served with the dish was like nothing we've ever had. It was such a great experience and we will definitely be back.

Yelp
After 10 years of going to Nile, it still holds a 5 resounding 5 Star review. They are quite proud of their cuisine and more than happy to explain and share with you. The flavors are simply amazing. Going to Nile is a cultural experience, accompanied with wonderful food and great service. This place is unique, it is a cultural treasure. Do yourself a favor and visit often, rest assured that you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Amazing food! By far the best we've had in all of Florida. The staff has been consistent over the years and are friendly and inviting and do an amazing job with recommendations and instructions on the proper way to eat this ethnic food. I love the look of the interior, it is decorated with traditional Ethiopian adornments and they even have cozy cubbies where small parties are seated for a unique dining experience. Highly recommended!

Yelp
We went on a Sunday afternoon and the place was basically empty, with only one other table filled and they left shortly after we arrived. We ordered the Taste Of Nile, which was a dish for 2 serving basically every vegetarian item on the menu. The sambusas were not included with that, so we ordered those as our appetizer. Those sambusas are now one of my top 5 favorite foods I've ever tasted. They were that good! The Taste Of Nile was a huge portion, even for 2 people. We particularly enjoyed the Kik Alicha, Shiro, and Misir Wat. A couple of the items were a little too strong of a particular flavor for me, but I know there are people who would really enjoy them. Our server was prompt, helpful, and very sweet. Even as a first-timer, I felt completely welcome. I highly recommend anyone interested in Ethiopian food to check out Nile.

Yelp
I had a fairly nice experience here! The food was absolutely out of this world amazing! Everything that I tried was delicious and left me wanting more. I will definitely be stopping in again for another round table of amazing food. However, the staff did not seem to want us to order individual portions. While I did appreciate the attempt to save us money it did make it a bit difficult to get to the food since we had quite a large table. Just keep in mind how many people you have and how many portions you order.

Yelp
Very friendly staff! The place and food feel very authentically Ethiopian. I had the vegetarian combo and my family had the chef combo. I enjoyed my food, the injera felt especially sour to me so after a bit I got overwhelmed eating it, however all of the sides were delicious. I would recommend trying this place out especially bc the staff is so friendly!

Yelp
This was a mixed experience. The food was amazing, and the service was good. We went as a large work group, but were guided to do shared platters and one check. Some were less comfortable sharing food this way and reaching across coworkers. Also, no silverware. It was complicated to break down what was owed for which drinks and food since we weren't prepared for how the payment process would fall out. But the food was excellent. I ate the vegetarian platter and tried the honey wine. It was a 10/10 food experience, but I would steer away large groups unless you're family and one person plans to foot the bill.

Yelp
Nile Ethiopian is always wonderful. The food is flavorful and the service is excellent. On this occasion, I took a vegan friend to try Ethiopian food for the first time. It was a big hit, as expected. We order the Taste of Nile from the Nile Special for Two section of the menu and devoured it all. The prices have gone up a bit since my last visit, but that's to be expected. It's still worth every penny and we left full and happy.

Yelp
Let's get ready to gursha! No forks, no spoons, no knives, just great Ethiopian food. Gursha is the tradition of feeding each other bites of food and trust me, you'll get the hang of it in no time. Our host was so friendly that we felt like family almost immediately. We enjoyed the dinner for 2-3 along with coffee (a must have). The restaurant is decorated in cultural styles and the environment transports you... I encourage you to go try Nile Ethiopian for a unique experience.

Yelp
We arrived on a Sunday around 3:30pm and found we were only one of three tables. They are located in a small plaza behind Pizza Hut so they are not directly on international drive. Our server was wonderful and we loved learning about the Ethiopian culture and dining customs. We choose the chef's special for two so we could try a little bit of everything. It was 100% the right choice as we had chicken Doro Wat, chicken Doro Alicha, Beef Alicha Wat, Beef Tibs, Tikel Gomen, Gomen, Misir and Kik Alicha. The food is served in bread and you pull the bread and use it to eat the main servings. They also brought bread to the table. I tried their honey wine which is traditional and full of honey flavor. My husband had the ethiopian lager and found it to be light in flavor.

Yelp
This one of my absolute favorite places to visit. I've been a patron for many years. This a family run business and they do an amazing job and welcoming you and explaining the menu The lamb is my favorite but all of the dishes are worth trying. The restaurant decorated with decor from Ethiopia and is very cozy ambiance

Yelp
It's been a while since my last visit to Nile Ethiopian Restaurant and I am glad to see the food is still delicious as I remember. If you have never tried Ethiopian food before I recommend choosing one of the combination platters or Chef platters because just about everything on them is tasty. Since it was just Nancy and I, we went with the Chef Special for Two ($36.95). The dish comes with a portion of Doro Wat (chicken stew), Doro Alicha (chicken and onions stewed in turmeric), Beef Tibs (stir fry beef), Tikel Gomen (Ethiopian Cabbage), Gomen (Ethiopian Collard Greens), Misir and Kik Alicha (Red lentil & split pea stew) served on a large circular piece of injera (teff flatbread). The dish also comes with 6 smaller pieces of injera rolled up used to eat your meal. All of the food was delicious. My only complaint is that the Gomen could have been cleaned a little better before cooking. I pulled out four tough veins that were more stick-like and did not cook down enough. If you do not already know, there is no silverware provided with your meal, you eat everything with your hands using injera. The best part is finishing up the bottom layer of injera that has sopped up all of the remaining juices of the meal. Obviously, this isn't a meal for the germaphobe, but know that this is the central dining process when eating in Ethiopia. It is also customary to feed the ones you dine with to show them you love them. Yes, Nancy feed me and I in turn fed her, haha! It wasn't too busy when we arrived and we were seated quickly. Service was great, Ale, our server was very nice and thanked us several times for dining here. We finished our meal up with a traditional Ethiopian coffee ($4 each). Ale arrived shortly after with a decorative tray and small clay carafe filled with coffee. Ale burned some incents while serving the coffee. The Coffee is served in a small tea cup, so you don't get a lot, but do ask for refills because there is no additional charge. The coffee is nice and strong like espresso and prepared fresh to order and is not served with cream, so black coffee only. Looking at this restaurant from the outside might actually deter customers from entering. The plaza is quite old and in need of a renovation; yet don't let that deter you from dining in. The restaurant and restrooms are kept very clean. The ambiance, quality of food, and great customer service has been keeping this place around going strong since 2006. If you have never tried Ethiopian food before Nile Ethiopian is definitely a great place to start.

Yelp
Great Ethiopian food. Service was quick and food came out fast. The platter for two has a great variety of food to try. Atmosphere was nice and decor was authentic . Would like some spicy options like awaze

Yelp
Authentic Ethiopian food, friendly staff and great decor. Located in a plaza with plenty of parking, Nile Ethiopian is a good place to try some unique food. Everything came out fast and hot. The platter for two is a big portion that is definitely enough to share. There are 4 vegetarian options and 4 delicious meat options with lamb and chicken. All were flavorful and unique in their own way. The turmeric cabbage and cubed lamb were my favorites but the yellow lentils were also very good. My husband loved the two different of chicken. We ended our meal with a sweet and hot cup of Ethiopian coffee that is bold and rich. The presentation was amazing and we love the smokey taste. Will definitely come back!

Yelp
I cannot say enough about this place the family is so welcoming when you come in. We seated quickly. The ambiance is traditional and authentic. They also have little side rooms for lather parties. The chefs special is a great way to try all sorts of meats and veggies. I would highly suggest the kitfo. It is like steak tar tar but with Ethiopian spices. The service was so caring and they took the time to explain everything to first timers. Chef Marcus from the food network also dined there and loved it we need more Ethiopian restaurants.

Yelp
Located just off a main highway laden with strip malls and chain stores, this was a reprieve from tourism. We selected two appetizers that were delicious. My husband enjoyed the coffee that was brought out with its own presentation. Our waitress was helpful and friendly. We split the two person meal that was exceptionally seasoned and the platter was beautifully made. The chicken was quite overcooked, but every other aspect of our meal was wonderful. We did not have room for dessert, but they looked delicious.

Yelp
Was so good! Went with friends and just everything was fantastic! The bachlava is worth it. I'm picky with it, and here it is so very lovely. Will be coming here for just some coffee and to fix my sweet tooth sometime! Lovely staff, and super clean.

Yelp
After a day at Icon Park we came over here to get some unique tasting food and we were not disappointed. This is the second time I've been here but it's been over 5 years since I've been here and it still has the same great vibe. We came here on a Saturday night afternoon and there wasn't many people here at all so we got right in and seated. We got the combo platter which add a little bit of everything that the Ethiopian people eat. Now the picture might not look too appetizing but The food is excellent. You eat it with your hands with the injera bread That is a fermented sourdough flatbread that's kind of spongy. My husband and I ordered the dinner for two and ate it all.! No leftovers this time . We then tried the Ethiopian coffee that is served like an espresso very strong and tasty. Make sure you ask your server for a refill on the coffee. The atmosphere inside here is very chill and it smells good with incense mixed with the spicy smell of Ethiopian food. Go get you some!

Yelp
A first time experience for me and a very, very dope one at best. I've never eaten Ethiopian food before. So I went in here with an open mind and they didn't disappoint. We decided to order our drinks and those were pretty good. Then the menu was explained to me, but it seemed like so much. I just added a little bit of meat to the order so I would be able to get some protein. The meat was cooked thoroughly and tasted delicious on the plate. The sambusa were delicious as well. Just a little bit spicy, but that's just fine. I was overall happy with the service and how quick the food came. The place is small, but you can tell that it's a place of prominence based off the ratings and based off of all the awards they have in the front of the store when you enter. You select your own seat (at least on a Friday we did) and then went on to have our waitress come to us. Everything was easy, fun and new to me. I'll definitely be coming again!

Yelp
Great little place, not fancy but boy is the food good. Delicious flavorful and the staff are friendly and will explain what and how you eat. This is not a fast experience, the food should be savoured and enjoyed. Relax and enjoy the experience

Yelp
My mom, stepdad, and I had dinner at Nile Ethiopian last month after a day of fun at Universal Studios. We started with the tomato fitfit and then shared the Chef's Special. The tomato fitfit (diced tomatoes, red onions, jalapeno, olive oil, and lemon juice) was a simple, great, fresh, bright starter (my vegan mom who is obsessed with tomatoes loved it). The Chef's Special included Doro Wat, Doro Alicha, Beef Alicha Wat, Beef Tibs, Tikel Gomen, Gomen, Misir, and Kik Alicha. My mom enjoyed all the vegan vegetable dishes on the Chef's Special, and my stepdad and I enjoyed those as well as all the meat dishes. The food was all great. The service was lovely. And the restaurant was simple and homey and beautiful. To top it all off, I enjoyed an Ethiopian beer to finish off a great meal. Left full and happy!

Yelp
I was grateful to finally give this place a try since it's one of two Ethiopian restaurants in Orlando. The vibe of the restaurant seemed very authentic to Ethiopian culture and I appreciated that the servers were very welcoming. The food was EXCELLENT! It tasted fresh and spot on in terms of what the many Ethiopian restaurants I've tried in the past. I felt the portion was small though. Tibs dishes are meant to be shared and it was barely enough for my husband and I. Also, I didn't like that they packed the tomato salad with the injera. I had to be very careful so my bread didn't get wet from the salad juices. Next time I'll be sure to ask them to pack it separately. All in all, I look forward to supporting this business in the future. If you haven't tried this food, this is a great place to start.

Yelp
Decided to try Nile on our recent Orlando trip. I have only ever had Ethiopian food one other time in St. Paul, MN. We had the Chefs special for two which included 2 chicken dishes, 2 beef dishes, 2 lentil dishes, 1 cabbage dish and 1 collard greens dish. Loved being able to try so many dishes. Food is served on Injera(sourdough crepe like pancake) with extra injera rolls, so no silverware. My favorites were the cabbage, red lentils and chicken in red sauce. Portions looked small but there was plenty of food and we left with full bellies. My only complaint was the service was a bit slow as they only had 2 servers and we chose to sit outside which I think caused them to loose track of us. All in all the food was fantastic and is definitely something out of the ordinary for us so would definitely recommend Nile!

Yelp
I've been hearing great things about this place for a long time. It took me way too long to finally come here and see what the hype is all about. I'm glad I did, though, because I got exposed to a new cuisine that I've not had before, and it was extremely delicious. The decor of the place is super nice. I wanted one of the booths that look like some sort of domicile, but I got a table in the middle of the restaurant, which was also fine, though, because I got a great view of all the stuff all over the walls. We started off with the Sambusa (Deep fried pastries stuffed with lentils, finely chopped red onions and jalapeno peppers). These are very similar to samosas, but with a harder fry, a harder crispy on the outside. And the inside is just packed with lentils that were packed with more flavor than I thought was possible. So good. Get these to warm up your appetite. Then, for the main event, we shared the Chef's Special Nile Special for Two (Doro Wat, Doro Alicha, Beef Alicha, Beef Tibs, Tikel Gomen, Gomen, Misir and Kik Alicha). Don't know what all that stuff is? Gotta look it up. I will say that they are samples of meat dishes and samples of veggie dishes. The meal comes with a thin bread that rolls up and it's basically a little bit of a fluffier tortilla. You don't even get cutlery, you just just get the bread to eat the meal with. I love that. So you get a bunch of those, and then the whole meal itself is served on a piece of that bread just rolled out over a big dish/plate. It's really cool. Everything was delicious. Each of the meats is stewed so well and really packed with a nice, mellow but pungent flavor. So good. The veggies were much the same, transformed through cooking and seasoning. The collards weren't my cup of tea, but they never have been. I assume they are good, if you're into collards. And the whole time you're eating, the juices from the food are soaking into that bread, readying up for some pretty flavorful bites at the end of your meal. Great stuff. Overall, the hype was real. I loved this place, and now that I have had the sampler platter, I'm ready to delve into certain dishes and really explore.

Yelp
I-drive is far for me so this place has been on my list of places to try for awhile. Stopped in at 6:30 with a friend hand was seated immediately. I believe the owner and some friends or family were the only other table in the place. However, two people came by to pick up to go orders and the restaurant was filling up around 830pm. Thanks to Yelpers, I knew what to order. We started with the sambuzas and shared the chef specialty for 2. Heads up- the menu is cash price only. If you pay card, they add a percentage- it was about $3.5% surcharge. Everything we ate was delicious. Two beef dishes, two chicken dishes, two puree consistency dishes and two vegetable dishes. Perfect. I was glad they brought a small basket of extra injera so we could really get into all that food. It doesn't look like a lot of food for two people but you get filled up fast because of the injera. Great meal. Lots of unique flavors. They have a small bar with tons of liquor bottles, beer and wine. I had a glass of "interesting red" wine $10 from South America, which was great. Ice waters were filled often, but not after we received our bill and continued to talk. Thought they closed at 9, but at 9 when we left, the restaurant was really full. Bathrooms are clean and stocked. Parking was plentiful. I don't think you need a reservation. Menu explained everything. I'm interested in their "traditionally served raw" beef dishes. Maybe I'll try that next time.

Yelp
Thought the food was very good. Price was good too. Three full meals, 2 beers, and an appetizer was $81. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and enjoyed the nice quiet atmosphere. Drove from DeBary to international Drive to visit this place, and would do it again.

Yelp
Love the Chicken /doro Alicha also it's not in the picture but Steak Tartare /kitfo is the best Tartare I've ever had. I go at least every other week to get it. Great drinks also. Very welcoming experience start to end

Yelp
Wow, what an experience! From beginning to end. This was my first time trying Ethiopian food and I honestly never knew we had this spot in Orlando, and didn't know what to expect, but I had done some previous research and decided what the heck! Let's give it a try. It really is such an experience and this restaurant does well at making everything very on-brand (authentic), to give it the feel that you're not in Orlando but in Ethiopia. To start, you eat with this spongey bread (no utensils) and pick up the food. I believe we ordered the chef special that came with a little bit of everything and we added lamb. It was delicious! One of the foods was supposed to be spicy but the spice levels are actually super super mild. The honey wine was also really good and like nothing I've tried before. The coffee is very unique as well, and the way they present it at your table. From being someone who was really hesitant to try this, I was pleasantly surprised. Everyone in my party loved it and it is 100% worth coming back for.

Yelp
We had my husband's family visiting from out of town and they were staying in the Kissimmee area, so we wanted to pick a dinner spot that was closer to them. We've had Nile on our list to try for a while, so we thought this would be the perfect opportunity to bring everyone together for some delicious Ethiopian food. This is a family-owned restaurant and even the owner himself was seating guests and filling water glasses. While my husband and I have had Ethiopian food before, none of his family had, so this dining experience was quite an adventure for them. I love any excuse to eat with my hands, and being that everyone else in our group was Filipino, we figured they would be down for it as well lol. We all decided to pair up and share the Nile Chef's Special for two ($34.95). This basically comes with a little bit of everything so you get to try a good portion of the menu (doro wat, doro acha, beef acha wat, beef tibs, tikel gomen, gomen, misir and kik alicha.) In case you don't know what any of that means like me, it's basically a mix of different stewed meats like beef and chicken, along with a variety of veggies including cabbage, split peas, red lentils, and collard greens. Everything is served on a round platter on top of injera (pancake-like spongy bread) and they give you baskets full of rolled injera on the side which you uses to pick up all the yummy food on your plate. The platters were the perfect about for two people to share and we were absolutely stuffed. The staff was so friendly and patient explaining what everything was for all us first-timers. Everything was delicious and we cleared our plate!

Yelp
I don't usually think going to an I-drive strip mall would be so fruitful, but, my mind was definitely changed at Nile. Don't let the scare of a new food type push you away. The team at Nile were so friendly and quickly eased fears of the newbies at the table as the explained how the menu worked, went through their favorites, and talked through the "fear" of using the bread instead of silverware. Important to note, though, there is a lot of spice in this food - not heat - but spice and it's worth every bite. I definitely reccommend the chef platter to try a few different types of meats and spices. We didn't do any vegetarian option, but, I can't imagine they are any less tasty after having the beef and chicken variations. The food comes out on a huge tray, which was totally enough, maybe too much, for our table. It's a small place, so there may be a bit of a wait, but don't let that drag you away. It's worth it.

Ethel K.

Yelp
This is the best Ethiopian in the state! Trust me... I've been testing Ethiopian all over the country ever since I left Addis as a refugee in 1992. I've eaten here for over 20yrs. Don't miss out! It's the best

Yelp
First tried Nile about 10 years ago and each time we come to Orlando we try to make it here. The food is so unique and a taste we don't get to experience in South Florida too often. Our last visit was my husband and our two boys. Since the kids never had Ethiopian food before we decided they had to try a variety and what better way than to have their Special Platters.... actually we ordered a double sized platter. A good variety of Ethiopian foods and served spread out over a large layer of Injera. If you haven't experienced Ethiopian food, the injera is like a spongy, moist bread that you break off pieces from rolls of eat they give you to pick up a mouthful of food. It can be messy but so worth it. The Injera (bread) has a bit of a funky taste since it is fermented but don't worry, it's healthy and delicious. I'd also suggest trying their Tej Wine (also known as Ethiopian Honey Wine); it's delicious.

Yelp
Food was amazing, my first time having Ethiopian and it didn't disappoint. Get the chefs platter and try multiple different Ethiopian cuisine, it's enough for 2 and is the best deal. Ask the staff or server about how to eat the food and they'll teach you, the waiter is very nice and the chef definitely knows what he's doing. 10/10 recommend

Yelp
This is my new favorite restaurant. We are here on vacation (from Miami) where we have no Ethiopian food. So of course I was excited. But this was so much better than other options. It was very healthy and not greasy. We went 2x during our week in Orlando, including on my Birthday. That's how good it is. Not greasy like some places can be. Each time we went we did 2x the appetizer platter, leg a ribs and the veggie combo. Afiaz is my new favorite food. Cold lentils with jalapeños, onions, and a very horseradish forward mustard. It like steak tartare but healthy. As I said we went 2x and both times we ordered 2 of them. The tomato salad was also awesome. My normally non eating daughter ate 4 sambosas on each visit. That's how good they were. Honestly, if it wasn't weird I would just get that appetizer platter x3 or x4. Legba tibs and veggie combo (lentils, peas, collards, cabbage) were good, but not as good as the app platter. The fact that this place isn't full at all times is a shame. Go there ASAP. It's cheap. Staff is incredibly friendly. And it's healthy and amazing.

Yelp
Had a great time at Nile Ethiopian, and our whole party agreed that it deserved a 5 star review! We went on a Tuesday night at 7:30 and the restaurant was relatively empty. Our server was very friendly and attentive and willing to split our check in 6 different ways with no complaint. The table ordered 4 orders of two person special and all plates were cleared by the end of the night. The two person special was the perfect amount of food to leave each group content while not overly stuffed. The honey wine was a nice touch. We will be back, and will recommend friends!

Yelp
Queen Bee wanted Ethiopian food again because she liked her first foray into the stuff. I wasn't aware of this second Ethiopian restaurant until I basically stumbled across it. The vibe in here is quite relaxed and an oddball mix of jazz and Ethiopian instrumental music is playing overhead. Only one other couple in here; they're enjoying one of the "traditional" Ethiopian dining tables, which is low to the ground, which is why I chose a regular table. I do love tradition; my body is just too fat, tired and old to play along! We opted for what they call the chefs special, which is basically the kitchen sink on top of a huge injera. Doro wat, Doro Aja, Acha Wat, Beef Tibs, Tikel Gomen, Gomen Misir & Kik Ali...spicy and non spicy versions of chicken & beef, along with split pea stew, lentil stew, and collards. All the flavors were quite pronounced without being overwhelming. Nothing bland at all like we experienced last year at the other Ethiopian spot. Don't get me wrong: they're good. They just ain't great if only because this place is more authentic and not quite as Americanized. We drank tej with our meal. If U don't know what that is, think mead! Queen Bee wasn't really sure how to deal with it at first, but once she gave it a chance she wound up liking it. They make it right here, as they also do with Ethiopian coffee...they roast their own beans right in the dining room! It's almost like free entertainment... No one else came in while we were here. The other couple finished just a wee bit ahead of us and no one else came in. This place has been in business for many years, and I just hope it continues well for them. The staff here is a friendly and solicitous bunch. Next time we return to Orlando, count us in!

Yelp
We've been coming here for years. It had been a while due to Covid, but we just returned for my SO's birthday and went with a couple friends, some who had never been before or hadn't had Ethiopian food. As always, the food was delicious. The prices here are good, the service is friendly and helpful in making choices, and you never feel like you are rushed to leave. We always like getting one of the meals for 2 so that we can have a variety of things. The honey wine is a great drink to try too, if you are looking for a traditional drink. I do think they may have updated the inside since the last time we were there because they now had a nice beautiful bar inside.

Yelp
We ate there for dinner recently. Food was excellent. ALL OF IT! Waiter was great and even was making sure we were eating it, in the proper Ethiopian style, as we hoped to do. We were visiting from the West Coast and off on a cruise the next morning. Sadly, that night, my wife realized she had left her bag at the restaurant. We knew they were closed, but she tried calling the number anyways. Our waiter (Who I believe is one of the owners) answered and was on the way home. He knew of the bag and, after realized we couldn't get it the next day, he turned around and drove back to the restaurant and then delivered it to our hotel. He really went the extra mile for us. The food alone make it a place you must try. The extra mile for service assures that we'll be going here on our next visit.

Yelp
Loved this place when I lived here. So happy they are still going strong, and making magical food 3 years later!! Staff is attentive, personable, and accommodating. If you're lucky you'll be there when they are roasting coffee, which fills the space with more warm, tasty smells. It's often quiet enough for clear conversation but definitely allows space for boisterousness. It's good for dates but more fun for larger groups.

Yelp
Wonderful food and friendly hosts. Nice atmosphere to enjoy an authentic taste of Ethiopian food. I tired both the vegetarian and lamb dishes. Both are excellent and the portion sizes are abundant.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place when I'm in Orlando. Good eats come dime a dozen in the Orlando area and if you're interested in trying a cuisine out of the norm, highly recommend. Ethiopian food is said to be the lovers food. Strongly encouraged to use the hand as utensils. Chefs special- highly recommend. Doro Wat- highly favored Misir Wot- get your good veggies in Beef Awaze- flavorful tender beef And don't forget to end the delicious meal with an Ethiopian tea or coffee!

Yelp
One small plate for TWO! Chef's choice. $36 for a meal for one! Then each beer was $6. I was so hungry I just got more beer because the plate was so small. Then a kitfo as well which was okay. The injera was dry and not fresh at all! On top of that they add a $10 for using the credit card haha! The lowest I'll have to give to my favorite kind of food. For two people it was $92 and I'm not even full.... Sad

Yelp
This restaurant is in the busy tourist area of International Drive in Orlando and provided the better option to the endless strip of chain restaurants. Living in Florida as I do, I don't get to eat at Ethiopian restaurants but I've always enjoyed it, from my summer stint in Washington, DC and the plentiful Ethiopian restaurants of Adams Morgan. The restaurant is small and family run and the food was excellent. We had the chef's platter, with a great array that included doro wat, lentils, two beef stews, cabbage and greens. It's always fun eating with the injera, and scooping up bits of the smorgasbord. We nearly cleaned the platter, it was so good. It was also reassuring that the two large groups there were Ethiopian families. That gave the place some legitimacy. The service was very friendly. We did wait a little bit for our meal, but we did order after those two big families. It was worth the wait. Overall, it was a great meal and I'd highly recommend the place both for those who are fans of Ethiopian food, and for those who are willing to try.

Yelp
Such an awesome experience! While I have had Ethiopian before (To go), but this was a true experience and quite authentic. This spot is not necessary in a tourist haven, so expect off the beaten path a tad for this one. As for the restaurant, very plain, but tons of room for large parties. I knew this coming in and was here for the food experience rather than a fancy restaurant with theatrics involved. One thing everyone needs to know is this a non utensil restaurant, while they can provide, they prefer more of a authentic approach (Using your right hand, left hand is a no-no). Service is pretty good, but can be slow at times during busy hours/nights. As for the menu, this is where some may be a tad hesitant. You will see a lot of options that maybe you have not seen before. Fear not, they are there to help guide you. We opted for Yebeg Tibs & Chefs Special, which is served in an authentic method (Not sure of the vessel they used to deliver the food). They also provide a spongy bread that you use as your "Spoon" to scoop all of the food. Here I am thinking it would be easy, but takes a few goes to learn how to mop up the food. Portion wise, my goodness! I was thinking the two plates would be for each of us...nope! They were massive and there was no way we could finish both plates. As for the food, it was delicious and had just the right amount of spiciness (We opted for "hot"). We also ordered some traditional Ethiopian beer, but it was nothing to write home about. Honestly, I am glad I do not live near this restaurant as I would spend way too much time here!

Yelp
I walked over 2 miles in July heat to get to this restaurant to try it and it was totally 100% worth it. I haven't felt this strongly about a restaurant in while! I ordered the beef short rib, misir wat and honey wine. It was all amazing, and beef ribs are my favorite food but the lentils were so good they were still somehow the best part of the meal. Staff was very friendly and very helpful, and the restaurant itself looks nice and has a chill vibe. Everything was perfect.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about this place!! It doesn't look like much from the outside, and the little area it's in isn't super nice but it is sooo worth it to go anyways! I had never eaten Ethiopian food so I really wanted to try it, and I couldn't have even imagined how amazing it would be. Our waiter was the owner (I believe) and what a nice man! He was so happy to tell us more about his culture and the reason the restaurant was decorated how it is, and give us recommendations on what food to try since it was our first time. We ended up getting the Chefs Special and added lamb onto that, and basically that dish is a sample of almost all of the meats, veggies, and sides that they serve there. If you have at least 3 people in your group and don't know what to get I'd highly recommend it, because then you can try a bunch of different things and share it. That's what we did and it was just fantastic! Honestly, I can't remember what half of the foods were called that we got but it was all delicious! You take some of the bread, and grab the different pieces of meat and veggies and go for it, and seriously every combo I tried I loved. The lamb was cooked to perfection, and I was just so impressed. It all just blended together so well and wonderfully. To finish up we got Baklava for dessert, and it's really some of the best baklava I've had. So fresh and made exactly how it should be. I am so blown away by this place, and highly, HIGHLY recommend it!
