Where To Eat Around Highbury

"Every neighbourhood in London should have a no-nonsense, comforting restaurant. Those ones where if you live nearby, you probably eat there at least once a week because it’s just so bloody easy and so bloody good. Au Lac is one of those. It’s a family-run Vietnamese restaurant just down the road from Highbury Barn that’s been serving tasty as anything food for years. The mince pork and dry fish with aubergine is something you’ll end up coming in to eat alone (or order for takeaway), and the same goes for their Ha Noi fish. A no-brainer that will make you want to move into the neighbourhood." - jake missing

London Delivery & Collection Options For Every Situation

"Au Lac is Highbury’s go-to Vietnamese, and it should be yours too if you’re in an N postcode. Crispy chilli squid and punchy papaya salad are go-tos here, but if you’re looking for something without so much kick then the mince pork, dry fish, and aubergine hot pot is an excellent choice. As is the chilli caramel pork or salmon." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing

27 London Restaurants To Help You Avoid Delivery Déjà Vu

"Delivering around N5 and surrounding areas. The food at Au Lac is reliably delicious and that’s why it’s such a local favourite. Sit indoors at this Vietnamese spot in Highbury and you might just see Nigel Slater tucking into thịt kho, a silky smooth dish of caramel pork. That’s something you’ll want to order, along with the fragrant mince pork, dry fish and aubergine hotpot. It’s a must." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak

Amazing atmosphere and excellent food. The broth of the pho was clear and light, with quality shredded chicken. The crispy duck was also good.

Amazing neighbourhood Vietnamese spot in a relaxed space. I had the Mongolian duck main which was incredible, also an amazing Vietnamese twist on duck pancakes. They also have Saigon beer! Will definitely go back to try more

Arrived late on a Saturday night, had an absolutely fantastic meal. It's been years since I ate here (before they renamed it), but the standard is just as high. Very polite and helpful service and incredibly delicious food. The sticky spicey ribs, the grilled pork and rice, and the shaking beef were all packed with flavour. Top tip: order extra rice to soak up all of the incredible sauce.

Our first experience at Ninh's Vietnamese and it did not disappoint. Fresh ingredients and strong flavours made the meal perfect. Big portions for both starters and mains. Service was very good and quick. Several vegetarian options.

Best Vietnamese spot in London for me. Absolutely a solid 5. The food is tasty, not overly grassy, and very filling. Prices are London’s prices.

This place is so delicious, everything I’ve tried has been so tasty. And great AC on a hot summer day.

Really lovely local place with some spectacular, very well presented food. A real gem on the high street serving up and down market. The family who run it were very responsive and intuitive with me. It was always a real treat going here. Prices beat neighbouring places, which is a big deal when it's better quality here too. It's a little fancy, but the price reflects a respect for customers that Frank's would never grant.

We had an incredible dining experience at Ninh's. The presentation of the food was exquisite, and the flavours were absolutely delightful. Every dish tasted incredibly fresh, especially the selection of vegetarian options we tried. My friend opted for the Beef Vermicelli and thoroughly enjoyed it. Allow us to highly recommend some must-try dishes: the Summer Rolls, Papaya Salad, Aromatic Mixed Vegetables with Pancakes, Vietnamese Shaking Mushrooms, and the Vermicelli Salads (both the Beef and Veg options). Ninh's is more than happy to accommodate any modifications you may desire, such as omitting the bean sprouts. The service at Ninh's is friendly and accommodating, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The interior of the restaurant is serene and spotlessly clean, providing a tranquil atmosphere. Whether you're dining with your partner or a group of friends, Ninh's is a fantastic place to enjoy authentic Vietnamese cuisine in the vibrant neighbourhood of Highbury.
