Came here for Restaurant week lunch time and overall went ok. Initially the server did not give us the Restaurant week menu that they had online so we were just going to order from their regular menu and then a few minutes he comes back and says "my boss is feeling generous today so here's the Restaurant week menu". However he gave us the dinner menu which was $45 per person as opposed to $30 per person for lunch. It was essentially the same exact menu. I didn't mind the higher price but would just be nice to stick to what they advertise online. It's misleading for the customers. The place was nice, quiet, good music. It was a Thursday lunch time so not a lot of people were there. It was a hot sunny day in NYC and they had the AC off when we came in. Another group of people came in and they turned the AC on for 10mins and then turned it back off. I get that there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant at that time but it was extremely suffocating in there and our party of 3 were all sweating. The food was great! Our party ordered appetizers, entree and dessert. For appetizer we got imported buffalo mozzarella and tuna tartare which were both really fresh and yummy. We also got the marinated seafood salad which we thought was a little bland in flavor. For entree our favorite was the braised lamb shank-- the service was big and the meat itself was so tender, it fell right off the bone. Our other entrees were parmasan crusted chicken and grilled salmon which were both pretty tasty but nothing special. For dessert we got tiramisu, cheesecake and chocolate mousse. The food was definitely satisfactory but not something I would go back for. I didn't think anything was exceptional.

We had a wonderful dinner at Nino's. We had the seafood salad (this is the only thing I was not impressed much with, little plant for my taste) and meatballs (absolutely wonderful) for appetizers. Branzino and pasta with shrimp for entrees, and both were very tasty. And tiramisu and chocolate mouse cake for dessert. The service was superb. As soon as we entered we were greeted and offered a choice of seats and from that point we got very attentive service. We loved the place and hope to return.

Nino's restaurant on 1st Ave in New York City is a true gem that has stood the test of time for over 30 years. Walking into this establishment, you can feel the old school New York vibes that have attracted countless celebrities over the years (with a pretty cool mural on the wall showcasing all of them through the years). If you're looking for a must-go restaurant in the city, Nino's should definitely be at the top of your list. I had an incredible dining experience at Nino's. I started with a delicious Caesar salad with fresh dressing made at the table with anchovies, followed by a mouthwatering baked clams appetizer. For my main course, I had the perfect rack of lamb, cooked to perfection. And to top it all off, I enjoyed a table-side made banana flambé for dessert. The owner of Nino's was incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home. The drink selection was top-notch, with a rare find of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon that is hard to come by elsewhere. The overall ambiance of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect place to enjoy a meal with friends or loved ones. If you only have time to eat at one place in the city, make sure Nino's is at the top of your list, this is NEW YORK. You won't be disappointed by the delicious food, warm hospitality, and rich history that this restaurant has to offer.

First time coming here, not very crowded when we get there before 4pm for early dinner midweek. The place was spacious, server was friendly. We were introduced to the special dishes for the day. Food was fresh, and we loved what we ordered.

I lived on 73rd and 2nd - 1 block away for a decade. Anytime I needed to lift my spirits, we’d go to Ninos and get a table-side Caesar (best I’ve ever had), listen to the piano, and shake Ninos hand. As an Italian American, there is something incredibly familiar and comforting about a good traditional meal with a warm atmosphere. It’s an experience in every aspect you won’t forget.

It was a great pleasure actually getting to have dinner at Nino’s. I ordered the Dover soul fish,It was filet and cook to perfection. Compliments to the chef…. Looking forward to my next visit!

"Because you didn't ask!" That was the answer my mom was given after we left the restaurant and noticed that everything except she ate was a lunch special. The total of her individual items was larger than the special. She talked to the manager and he was argumentative, unkind and had the nerve to tell my mom that they didn't give her the lunch special because she didn't ask. She didn't ask?! Oh my god! What kind of establishment would be this way towards their own customers? Treat them this way? Were they trying to be crooks? We didn't even get a lunch special menu to consider when looking at the regular menu. The food was pretty good and i took photos. But I'm not going to advertise/recommend this restaurant. And when i wanted to switch tables in the completely empty restaurant the waiter gave me attitude. The restaurant was cheating us of a discount and withheld any knowledge of it. We only found out, on our way out, where there was a small chalk board that advertised it. My mom of course told them they'd lost a loyal costumer. I only went once, but will also not return.

10/10 meal and service! Really excellent food, reasonable prices and huge portions. You will have leftovers. Highly recommend this restaurant for date night, family gatherings and more!

Yelp
Super cute, cozy restaurant, especially for December Christmas vibes. The chocolate mousse is insane - some of the best I've had. The server was very sweet and accommodating, even bringing out a tray of cookies to go with our cappuccinos. Can't wait to return!

Yelp
Really liked it. We came here for lunch on Christmas Day. Warmly greeted by Nino himself and he sat us down even though we hadn't made a reservation. This was one of the few places open and serving on this day. I thought the food was great. Cavatelli with sausage broccoli rabe white wine and toasted garlic. A big hit. Spaghetti bolognese was perfect for my four year old she ate almost all of it. Wife and older daughter split eggplant parm and a Caesar salad. Decor is great and menus are on iPads. Pretty cool. Sure it is a bit expensive but that's Manhattan dining these days. Go check it out.

Yelp
Old school ambiance with sub-par food. Meatballs chewy and hard to cut through (almost rubbery). Rating: F (sent it back for a salad) The Caesar salad came.... I mean lettuce came on a plate. There was no caesar dressing. Rating: F Then came the main course. A parmesan crusted chicken... BLAND!!! The Parmesan wasn't crispy and the food was completely bland. Even the vegetables sucked (bland, overcooked, and soggy). Rating: 3/10 (barely edible) The wine was the best part and they don't even make it here. They poured wine once and then forgot to pour the rest of the meal, we had to pour our own. The service was better than the food but not by much. If you ever needed something you had to search for someone. When you ask for a clean fork that anyone with eyes could see was not clean and had burnt s*it on the end of it... that is a new low for me. The prices are reasonable on the surface but overpriced when you see how little food they put on a plate. The sautéed Jumbo Shrimp.... 5 shrimp surrounding a mountain of rice. This should be an appetizer at best. There was nothing jumbo about it. See for yourself and look at the picture. Rating: 1/5 would not recommend or reorder. The rest of my party had a little better luck than I did. The Bronzino was good and the grilled chicken parmesan was not bad. The tiramisu was good but nothing spectacular. I would not recommend this place unless you have a bland pallet.

Yelp
The restaurant is for a date night with your partner. The food is fresh and tastes great. The servers are there and they rarely have to be asked for. It's an old world style. And they have outdoor dining in a pretty garden.

Yelp
Food: We got a specific menu because we showed up with a coupon, but overall the options were good. Everything came out warm and tasty! Service: I ended up using a Groupon, and unlike some experiences, my experience was positive. I felt taken care of and the manager welcomed us as well. Overall, a good experience. Ambiance: Definitely an old school Italian restaurant. I have seen places w this ambiance in movies! It was pretty nice to experience! If you want an old school feel with live Piano on Saturdays (7-9pm) definitely go!

Yelp
Solid food, meatballs were excellent restaurant week menu is small but good, soup very good. Service very good, not a noisy place so nice for intimate dinner, lunch. Better than I had imagined. Nino was there too!

Yelp
I came here on a Thursday evening with a friend for our "Christmas celebration" (a few days after Christmas). We had a reservation for 7pm and we were seated immediately. The place was relatively empty and very, very quiet. We were actually a little self conscious that we'd have to whisper the whole meal because it was so quiet, but luckily about 20 minutes in there was live music broadcast throughout the dining area. The musician himself was near the entrance, but there was a speaker in the back dining room so we could hear. I'm not sure why the musician wasn't sitting at the piano in the dining area -- I think that would've been nicer. For food, they give bread and hummus but you have to ask for it. We asked and warm bread came out relatively quickly. My friend doesn't eat hummus so we also requested butter from the waiter. He never brought it and we had to ask again. The manager (or maybe owner?) brought it immediately. We ordered baked clams to share as the appetizer; they were just okay - very, very crunchy and we weren't sure if it was the breadcrumbs or sandy clams. I got the rigatoni alla vodka and my friend got the spaghetti carbonara. Both entrees were good. We also got a side of sautéed broccoli to share, and that was delicious. For drinks, we both got plain (non-flavored) mojitos, which tasted... not bad, but unlike any mojitos we've had before. Our waiter barely checked on us throughout our meal, so anytime we needed anything we had to flag down the manager, who was incredibly helpful. Our waiter also treated my friend and I like children. When telling us what the specials were, he went on to explain what each word meant. For example, there was a fra diavolo special and the waiter explained to us that was a spicy tomato sauce. There was also a burrata special that he said was similar to the Buffalo mozzarella, and then proceeded to explain what burrata was. The food was decent, I loved the atmosphere with the live music, and the service from the manager was fantastic. Lost star for our waiter being forgetful and MIA during our meal.

Yelp
Had lunch yesterday, I got the 3 course prix fixe, had a nice mesclun salad, delicious homemade spinach ravioli with pesto and lovely homemade biscotti (not on menu but provided with our coffee, reminded me of my Nonna) My husband had the calamari app (not on prix fixe) a bit rubbery but he loved the rigatoni alla vodka. (al dente pasta, ask for it cooked more,if you like it American style/softer) Really nice ambiance, great staff, we had a very nice lunch. Also- it's close to Helmsley/ NY Presbyterian medical Tower which is a plus if you are here for medical issues. Would definitely go back!

Yelp
Nino's eggplant parmigiana sandwich is awesome and is made with real Italian bread and not that doughy, soft, imitation bread. I order a side of vodka sauce for $1. because I like to dip my sandwich in it. Lol. Worth every penny. Eat here. The staff is really nice too.

Yelp
Was excited to use our PULSD that was a gift for Christmas. Upscale environment, live music, white tablecloths, fancy old upper east side regulars. We decided to splurge and purchase cocktails on top of the voucher- they were strong and good! Only complaint is they hustled us for tip, when a service fee was already added and we tipped pretty well and kept in mind the original prices.

Yelp
I have my favorite restaurants in every area of New York, yesterday we were in Manhattan and wanted to go back to an old favorite we have been going to for over 25 years now. We were a tad bit early for dinner arriving at 4:45 but we were seated quickly and served our cocktails. The restaurant was as stunning as always and it brought back many happy memories! Our waiter Frankie, was a bit abrupt with us and spoke very quickly and low which we had trouble understanding or hearing. He was not exactly friendly and seemed impatient with us. I started with a favorite of mine lentil soup which unfortunately was very thin and tasteless. My husband's meatballs were very hard. Both appetizers were super hot like they had just been microwaved. I ordered their home made mushroom raviolis that were wonderful! They were chock-full of mushrooms and in an unusual sauce with roasted peppers, scallions, chunks of tomato and shavings of Pecorino cheese on top. I always love all their home made pastas! We also ordered the chicken parmigiana with a side of pasta. Unfortunately, the pasta was not al dente and under cooked and was not drained well so mixed with the sauce was a lot of water. The chicken was very moist and a good portion but was just OK in flavor. We ended our meal with a vanilla and chocolate tartufo and a Bailey's coffee. Now we haven't eaten here since Covid struck, and I know much has changed with restaurants. But I was really disappointed by both the service and the food. Also they did not give us the usual sculpted fruit at the end like they used to do, probably because they're cutting corners due to inflation. Our waiter did not read out the specials to us like he did with other diners later and I missed out on a special I would have loved of their homemade Pappardelle pasta! I did see the owner Nino at the beginning of our dining experience but unfortunately he left or I would've let him know. I'm hoping it was just a bad day at Nino's and will return.

Yelp
Well... This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in many a moon. We had a reservation for two for 7pm on Christmas Day. We were seated and waited ten minutes - no one acknowledged us, no bread, no water. We had to flag down "Nino" (I guarantee he is a card-carrying SAG-AFTRA member and not the owner) and finally got some attention. Cocktails took forever. We finished our appetizers and they took 15 minutes to be removed. Food was okay to good (the lamb shank and chocolate mousse are standouts; the chicken parm was mediocre). And what is really sad is they have a live piano player who did all of the great songs of Gershwin and the GASB, but with patrons in baseball caps and jerseys, what a shame. They let anyone in this joint and believe me, these knuckle-scrapers had no appreciation for the great music. And no, I am not a snob, but I respect a place enough to put on a nice blazer and these people look like they just got off the 6 train to Yankee Stadium. Oh, and I took half of my lamb shank home and the boneheads did not give me the bone! Incompetence all around. I really despised my dinner here.

Yelp
Here for a goodbye dinner! Great food and drinks. In the private room in the back which makes conversation possible!

Crystal R.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming to Ninos for the past 4 years and unfortunately recently I ordered a veal dish to which we he meat was very rancid from a special that night. The meat tasted and smelled spoiled and unfortunately I got sick with nausea after this. The owner, I will say was apologetic and replaced our meal with a different dish but the original meal just made me not want to eat much.

Mark R.

Yelp
I grew up in an Italian family and this restaurant's dishes are perfect comfort food. From the bread to the burrata to the chicken parm to the cannolis, everything was delicious and made with high quality ingredients. Great classic atmosphere and service (my water never got below the 75% line, they are so attentive).
google avatar

Yelp
Basically, it's okay. Not bad by any means. But, really nothing special. We were a fairly large party, and the general consensus was, "Not bad, but wouldn't go back" Service was excellent. Salad...great. But, other than that, just plain ordinary. At $91 per person including a bottle of wine and tip, you can do better in NYC.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I went here after we found a Pulsd coupon. The deal on Pulsd was great, 2 apps, 2 entrées, 2 desserts and a bottle of wine for $99. Well I will start by saying that the service and ambience was great. The wall decor felt like we were in the 80's, and there was live music via a pianist that was a little loud but overall a nice touch. Now to the food. The bread that came was extra crunch and hard to really bite, and it came with a hummus/oil combo dip that wasn't too bad. The minestrone soup tasted like a gulp of ocean water with the salt content. The filet app tasted very good. The filet mignon entrée was absolutely delightful. Extremely tender, great taste, and overall a great dish. Their iteration of a shrimp scampi was much less impressive. The flavor was lacking. The cheesecake tasted decent, it had a grainy texture. The tiramisu was good, but it tasted like hersheys syrup drizzled on it. What was also troubling was that we were one of 4 parties in the restaurant and the food took a good amount of time. Overall I don't think the pulsd coupon was worth it. They actually charged us for each individual item and the bill ended up being almost $200, double the pulsd deal.
google avatar

Stephanie W.

Yelp
We went to Nino's last night on the Pulsd coupon. It seemed like a good deal and my boyfriend was dying for a steak. Vibe was a little weird and the decor hadn't been updated since 1980 but the wine was pretty good. I ordered the minestrone soup as an appetizer and that's where things went downhill. It was the saltiest soup I've ever tasted, and we waited a good while for them to bring it out. The restaurant was not busy at all. Then the entrees. My boyfriend's steak was delicious, according to him, but my shrimp scampi (their version of a scampi - it was called something different on the menu) was just not good. The shrimp was over cooked, the tomatoes were undercooked, and the sauce had almost no flavor. The tiramisu tasted like they bought it at Walmart and was covered in Hershey's syrup. The only redeeming food was the cappuccino at the end, which I'm fairly sure they charged us for even though it was supposed to be included in the coupon. I just paid and left because I didn't feel like arguing the bill at that point. Unfortunately can't recommend this place!

Yelp
Nino's is more then just a restaurant, its an experience. It's a culinary adventure that takes you back to Italy. Its funny to brag about a ceasar salad, but I'm bragging about it. Get the ceasar salad, made fresh tableside ever time you go. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but some of my favorites include beef carpaccio, baked clams, and my personal favorite lobster fra diavolo! They even let you pick your lobster from their lobster tank! New York dining at its finest!

Jo B.

Yelp
Wow! what a difference a few weeks make. We were here a few weeks ago and the food was very good. This time it was bordering throw out. The only thing of merit was the bean puree that is served with the bread. The gnocchi was pasty and off tasting, the eggplant rollatini in addition to now having 2 pieces vs 3 was bitter with a sauce that wasn't good. The fried calamari was ok but approx 1/2 the portion we received the last time. Off day for the regular chef? I don't know but if so, shut the place down for a day. Also, we were charged approx $1 per item more than what was stated on the menu. In addition, this is one of those places that imposes the "illegal" credit card surcharge. Way better food at Cafe Buon Gusto. Ciao Nino

Yelp
I ordered takeout from this restaurant during NY restaurant week. They had one of the most diverse restaurant week menus with a lemon crusted chicken dish, salmon dish, and 2 types of pasta/ spinach ravioli and chicken parm with spaghetti. 2 of the orders came with salad and all orders came with friend. We got an order of each and it was amazing!! The good: - covid friendly precautions are taking place. There was only one table seated in an outside covered area. My pickup was quick and easy. - the food tasted great and the portions were generous. - the spinach ravioli was to.die.for. the pesto sauce was so creamy and flavorful. I don't have any complaints about my order and will be supporting this local business again!

Yelp
What a nice place. The Caesar salad is to die for the food is amazing. The staff was so attentive. The drinks were cold and delicious. The tables are very roomy and you are not rushed what so ever. It's a great place for a date or a family dinner. I would highly recommend this place. I would give 5 stars but it's not dog friendly lol but that's just me. Go and enjoy this place like I did

Emily Kathleen W.

Yelp
We had a WONDERFUL experience at Nino's tonight! All the servers were very accommodating and knowledgeable, and they had gluten free pasta available for myself and my cousin. The Vodka sauce was the best I've ever had in my life, the service was impeccable, the live piano was lovely, and the atmosphere was immaculate. Absolutely will be going back!

Yelp
I wish I could leave no stars. Our experience here was awful. I made a reservation for my husband's birthday here for a group of 12 early in December. We were seated at our table and just left alone. I'll note that they were busy but we weren't even offered menus or water. It took about fifteen minutes for us to even receive glasses for waters. Water itself took three individual requests before we could quench our thirst. We brought our own bottles of wine and asked to have them opened and poured and also that we were ready to order. Pouring and opening wine was another super long process for some reason. Finally we're ready to place our order. Since everything was taking so long I told the waiter that we'll place our appetizers and main course orders all at once. He insisted that he go put in the appetizer order and be right back. He was not right back. I had to wave him down (wave him down who does that?!) after watching him do a ton of other things for 15 more minutes. Apps came out, they were okay. We got calamari, meatballs, burrata (it was not burrata at all just mozz, the tomatoes were sliced like hamburger tomatoes) and baked clams. Not bad but nothing to write home about. No one ever checked on whether our meal was tasty or not and having them come pick up our plates took a while. Main course comes out and just wow, it was so bad. I got a fresh fettuccini bolognese that was on the special. Noodles were thin, overcooked, and rubbery. Bolognese was under salted and underwhelming. My husband and a friend of his got the ribeye special, medium rare for both. Both came out cooked medium well but alas they cannot replace them with properly cooked ones because they ran out. Later that night, when my friend was going to the restroom he peeped the gentleman who told us they were out of ribeyes himself, eating a ribeye. I mean I get it, I've worked in restaurants and hoarded specials before but y'all literally fucked up the order you could've given us that one. Even the chicken parm was nasty. Branzino was dry. Servers never came around to refill wines and see if our food tasted alright, we had to flag them down for the steak issue. The only dish I enjoyed was the lamb chop my husband got to replace the ribeye. Finally time for dessert. I brought a cake that I asked for them to plate but I also mentioned we were all tired and would love to put in a coffee order. Took three tries of asking before someone would come and take an order from us. Three of us ordered double espressos and got American coffee instead. Early in our meal they were busy but the crowd had waned down by the time apps started coming out, we had a late reservation. I never play the racist card but it really felt like a racist experience. They seemed to be on top of everyone else's table except for ours. We were the only POC in the entire dining room, we're talking UES Italian after all. There were times where it felt like we were deliberately being ignored. Maybe the size of our group intimidated them, I can't really understand why we got the treatment that we did but I deeply regret choosing this spot to celebrate my husband's birthday. Save yourself and don't waste a trip.

Terry W.

Yelp
The service was impeccable. They were gracious at my request to change menu ingredients. It was the best lunch I've had during my visit to NY.

Yelp
Not that it really matter but i grew up in Italy and I also enjoy cooking. The only reason we went in that place last night was because we had a gift card credit but i can say now that is not even a good reason to eat there. Food was very poor and I do not recommend that place. Chianti and Sangiovese glass of wine was bad. Fried Calamari average. Linguini fresh clams was bad: it was not linguini but very thin spaghetti, not tasty at all. The plate came very hot like straight from microwave... Duck Risotto was average: Taste was ok but rice was way overcooked for a Risotto. I really don t understand Restaurants owners mindset sometime....

Yelp
Ordered the penne with braised veal for takeout. The sauce was watery, the braised veal was meh, but at least the service was fast.

Stephen D.

Yelp
The food and service was excellent. The presentation of the Buffalo Mozzarella and the Branzino special was great. The food was prepared with perfection and tasted wonderfully. However, when I received the bill at the end of the meal, while i was aware the prices were generally in the high range and I accepted that, I was surprised that there appeared to be a 4 percent increase to each item individually. I was not aware that I would incur a 4 percent charge for using a credit card. I did not see an indication advising of this charge. Further, when I added a gratuity to the total, it was based on the inflated prices. Just as I do not pay a gratuity for sales taxes, I do not wish to pay a gratuity for a surcharge. Next time the gratuity will be reflected on the proper amount. No one likes expenses and restaurantaurs are no different. The expense for charge cards appears to be one of them. I would understand if the menu price was increased to make up this difference rather than concealing the charge for credit card usage in the final billing. Would I return to Nino's again, you bet I would since the food and service were the best I have had in a long time.

Yelp
We live close by and have been numerous times when family is in town. Everything we get is always great. The table side Caesar salad is a must order! We've gotten chicken, steak, fish and pasta dishes- always delicious. Every night they have numerous specials to choose from as well. The restaurant is big, quiet, and a good place to catch up with someone. Food and service is great. They even have live music on certain nights! It's an old school spot for sure. Best part, we found them on the Seated App! Earn money just for eating here (and a ton of other restaurants too!) Sign up and you'll get a $ bonus after your first meal (and I will too)! https://seated.app.link/aYalWLWHu3 My code: brooke559

Yelp
We ordered takeout and were impressed. The food was excellent. I had the spinach ravioli and side salad, and my husband had the parmesan crusted chicken. The portions were generous, and the food was delicious. They have an outdoor seating area now since the pandemic which has a few tables. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Nino the owner was hands on to the needs of his restaurant customers. Very down to earth kind of guy, he prepared awesome drinks for our party. And the live band made our first visit unforgettable. Will definitely be back next time we visit NYC.

Yelp
A NYC ITALIAN FAVORITE! Nino's is a DISCOVERY! True it has been an NYC 1st Avenue classic for years, but I just visited and had the most marvelous and scrumptiously satisfying little necks in a light tomato sauce; fabulous to perfection homemade fettucine noodle and the freshest seafood; wonderful delicately flavor infused grilled branzino... all enjoyed in a spacious, warm, old school and gracious setting with piano player. TRULY A WOW!!! Nino's is a fabulous place to go for a delicious Italian meal with white jacketed waiters serving fine Italian food; a restaurant where you can readily converse and at the same time savor both what is served, and your companions.

Yelp
We went there for restaurant week - I had checked the menu and it looked good. This restaurant has been in the neighborhood a long time but I had not been for years. Traditional old school Italian although the space is dated. Nice piano player. The staff was super friendly until we asked for the restaurant week menu - then the attitude changed decidedly. The staff became abrupt and service was spotty. The food was fair to good, except the pasta which was soggy. I asked for a glass of wine w/ my meal - I had to ask 3 times and they did not deliver it for 20 minutes so I had finished my food Turns out it was a $20 glass of wine. Admittedly I did not ask the price, but definitely not worth $20. The bill seemed very high for what we ordered but the waiter hovered when it came so we felt pressured to just sign and leave. Also some sort of flying bugs hovered around table and saw a roach in the restroom. Unpleasant experience and would not return.

Yelp
Nino's is the best Italian food on the Upper East Side. Amazing food and service. And Nino is always there to greet you and make sure you have an amazing dining experience. Highly recommended.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant, best Italian food on your east side. It has great service, nice workers. Overall, awesome food. Good location. And the place is so mellow to eat at and chill. They have the best owner (Nino). He's there to greet you everyday, greats you, even serves people. He works very hard and is a great man. I recommend this place highly to others.

Yelp
THERE'S NO ZERO STARS, UNFORTUNATELY. I'm in NYC for a visit and my nephew called ahead to ask about the accommodation for my allergies. It sounded like it would work out so we immediately purchased a Groupon (where we had even found them in the first place) and called them to let them know we were on the way. The manager immediately started making excuses about the kitchen closing, but we assured them we would make it. I spent money on a cab uptown to arrive before the kitchen closed (which we DID) and the manager was so irate that it was so close to closing time that he got in a shouting match with my nephew and then HE HIT MY NEPHEW IN THE FACE!!! We're pressing charges, but I'm the meantime, I called Groupon to tell them I want this OFF MY CREDIT CARD IMMEDIATELY. They've accommodated, so now the only thing left is filing the police report and press charges. HOLY ACTUAL F***.

Yelp
Ninos pizza has gotten worse over the past few months. Think they have changed their recipe for the worst! Cheese taste like cheese from dominos, it's not edible!

Yelp
Calamari tasted frozen rather than fresh, was chewy. Pasta was good. Veal was pretty awful. My boyfriend and I both had one bite and expressed our dislike to the waiter however they barely acknowledge it and didn't comp or even offer us anything else. The only thing decently good about this place is their pasta. I enjoyed the spinach and ricotta ravioli. Their wine is good too lol. Good sized pour but won't be going back, food is not worth the price point.

Yelp
Nino's never disappoints! A wonderful restaurant for an old school italian dining experience with friends, family or a date. Great place to celebrate a special occasion. Wonderful old school italian ambiance, Fantastic food and presentation, Impeccable service and a piano player in the background. Food and drinks. Everything fantastic and wonderfully presented. - Hot antipasto. We saw our neighbors enjoying this off the menu treat and had to order it ourselves. So good. - Branzino. Prepared / deboned meticulously table side, mild and sweet, melt in your mouth tender, like butter. Excellent. - Frutti di Mare. My go to italian dish, ordered with a garlic / oil sauce and angel hair. Excellent. - Dessert. Their signature table side prepared desserts were a highlight to watch at various tables. And were out of this world delicious. - Decorative complimentary pyramid of fruit on ice is always tasty and lovely. - Wine, cocktails are great. And the chocolate and espresso martinis delicious! Service. Outstanding and friendly, professional service from the host, various servers, table-side preparation of Bronzino and dessert. Ambiance. Festive holiday lights, spacious seating with plenty of room between tables and old school italian. I love great food, service and am very visual: Nino's always delivers wonderful food, service and an outstanding eye candy experience. Only Negative? We were so full and gratified I felt I needed someone to roll me out of the restaurant and carry me home. Always a fantastic dining experience!

Yelp
Came here for restaurant week dinner. Our experience started off good. The Maitre D/ host seated us quickly when we arrived. Our server came over and greeted us and told us the specials for the night. As soon as we told him that we told him we wanted the restaurant week menu his whole demeanor changed. He didn't come check on us for the rest of the meal. Didn't even offer my mother another glass of wine which she wanted, just took the glass away without saying anything when it was finished. It took a while for them to bring us the bread that came with the meal and when they did it was so hard we weren't able to consume it. I am giving 3 stars because the food otherwise was decent. Best thing I had was the seafood salad for an appetizer. The braised lamb shank was good and tender just a bit on the saltier side. The tiramisu was ok, it had a bit of a freezer taste.

Yelp
If I could give this spot 10 stars I would. Not only is their food exceptional, but so is the service. If you're looking for fresh Italian cuisine this is definitely a spot you have to check out. The meatballs are a MUST they're so good! Also don't skip out on dessert they're tiramisu is mouth watering It's also great for groups. Whenever I go during the holidays I've seen private gatherings going on -Now that's a holiday dinner I wouldn't want to miss!

Yelp
Food was fantastic, however our waiter was unbelievably rude and demanding. Tried forcing us to order wine the minute our party walked in. Said we needed two appetizers, and made us feel like we were an inconvenience for him serving us. Due to the lower end service, I tipped 10%. The waiter had the audacity to return to me after signing the bill & told me I didn't give him enough. If you aren't wearing a suit be prepared to get treated like trash.

Yelp
I wonder about the positive reviews for this place. The main thing a restaurant should get right is that the food is tasty and that it doesn't make you sick later. Those might seem like medieval basics, but it took Nino's to show even that is too much to ask for the night I was there. The overpriced meal I had at Nino's was very, very mediocre and quickly made me sick thereafter. I had the chicken parmesan (which is one price online, another price in the restaurant.) Nino himself said it was very good. Your average local pizzeria will make a better chicken parmesan for a third of the price. It was really, really bad. The fried calamari was below average. The wine was sour and and overpriced. I didn't think of trying dessert. Once I stepped into the place and got a look at the ambiance, dropped ceilings, very cheesy and dated, weird 1980's murals (which are not in any of the photos for good reason,) dying plants and a very smelly bathroom I could imagine the service was going to be mediocre, and it was. No one asked if anything I was served was ok. No one offered parmesan cheese for the sad spaghetti that had a weird smell. I felt like I was in some communist country restaurant where NYC standards didn't apply. It was a quiet night, so I give them that the somber mood was not completely their fault, but serving poorly made food at high prices is something they seem to get away with because the locals don't have many other options that are walking distance and supposedly the nights it is a piano bar it is festive for the locals. I left feeling sad for the restaurant, owner and workers. The vibe gave me American Horror Story: Restaurant ideas. I guess there is a place for everything in this great city, so why not this? I had an Opentable voucher which covered my entire meal, so I didn't leave angry, just amazed that a place like this exists. If I had paid for the terrible unsanitary food, this review would have been written differently.

Yelp
My family and I had a very nice Mother's Day lunch. Our party included two small children. They were able to bring 2 pasta with butter quickly while we ordered appetizers and our main course. That was very helpful. The Italian bread was brought promptly and I thought the appetizers and main courses came out at just the right pace. Service was responsive to requests. We were not rushed. The food was tasty though and I did think the pasta portions were on the small size given the prices.

Yelp
Been going to this restaurant for over 20 years and it's always been a favorite. The owners and waitstaff are always attentive, and the food is delicious EVERY time. They're consistent and one of the best Italian restaurants on the upper east side. They also have live music sometimes! Thank you Ninos team!!
