Yelp
This retro-futuristic bar is maximalism at its best, offering the most inventive drinks like the "Chasing Waterfalls" with yuzu and absinthe. It gives vaporwave, but it's more than just an aesthetic alcove to escape some unexpected rain clouds.
The bartender was friendly and accommodating, serving up Sweet and balanced champagne cocktails, adorned with blue glitter swirls. Lava lamps pulsed gently, and a 90s playlist thrummed in the background. The dark, glittery atmosphere played some Saturday morning cartoons (Nickelodeon, I think?) and vintage cult faves like Little Shop of Horrors on old school TVs straight out of my Nana's house. Nostalgia hits hard, turning this place into a time machine to the fabulous past. It's the kind of bar I would've imagined going to as a Yoo-hoo chugging child with overalls and scraped knees.
Seating is limited, but after a few drinks, you'll be ready to move next door to the sister restaurant, Good Luck Gato, for some amazing food. It's not just a bathroom stop for the 9th Life crowd; it's a quick jaunt and an excuse to check out the vibrant Japanese/Mexican-inspired art on the walls and plan dinner. We ended up getting a table and ordered a few small plates. The karaage was crunchy, perfectly seasoned and tender and the Brussels sprouts had crispy edges and a perfect bite of caramelized vinegar. The perfect end to a nostalgic night that started with a delicious drink.
Cheers to a spot that's a shimmering, retro hug for the soul.
