Best Restaurants in Tribeca, According to Eater Editors | Eater NY

"This decade-old, fast-casual Israeli spot is recommended for its scintillatingly fresh salads, fried-to-order falafels, multiple hummus variations, and such homestyle delicacies as shakshuka and masabacha. The dining room is open and airy with views of the bustling commercial neighborhood." - Robert Sietsema

17 Superb Shakshukas in NYC | Eater NY

"This Tribeca joint is known for its delicately balanced falafel pita, but shakshuka is also a standout with its just-spicy-enough tomato sauce enlivened with jalapeños. There’s an additional location on John Street." - Paul Schrodt

The soup was so good and I love soup. They have real vegan options. I liked the kale salad bowl, I just didn't like the mushrooms because they taste like bought mushrooms that had been sitting in brine too long or too much vinegar and rubbery. Everything else I order was great! The falafel burger was soooo good. The humus with mushrooms was amazing. The staff was amazing too.

Google
Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 I wanted to try this since I never had Israeli food and it’s highly rated & a bit different than the usual stuff you get. I went around 8:45pm on a weekend & could get a places to sit easily. It, however, filled up quickly after that. I had Vegan Shawarma. The taste was good. The only downside was the oil that accumulated at the bottom below the bread. But overall it was good & filling.

Google
One word- it was a wonderful experience. All veg menu with so many delicious options and so pocket friendly. I visited Nish Nush based on a friend’s recommendation and must say, it was worth visiting. Everything that we ordered was delicious. I could not understand the names in menu even being on English, but staff there was so helpful who patiently answered all my queries and helped to make choices for my dinner on the day. It is one of very few places that also offer drinking water free of cost and that also adds to the good service. I do recommend the place. Do try the soups, if you are visiting there.

We were hungry and uncertain about where to eat (first time in this area). I checked the map and discovered a nearby restaurant. I'm glad I found it, we loved it! Everything was amazing, especially my Ginger Lemonade. When we arrived, it was raining, so the restaurant was empty. A few minutes later, it filled up with other customers. The ambiance was nice, with the music playing at just the right volume.

Google
Great casual Mediterranean vegetarian food used to go here 2-3 times a week when I worked in FIDi. It's nice to see that the quality has not dropped off at all.

~Fresh Falafel & Hummus~ Delicious Falafel Trio platter. It comes with three falafel flavors, hummus, israeli salad, white & red cabbage. Generous portion for two people.

Google
Overall, we had a great experience and delicious food! If you’re in the area and looking for Mediterranean, I’d give this place a try. We tried all 4 of their sandwiches. Everyone really liked theirs but there are a few key things to note. Heat levels are relative but the guy in our group who got the Red Hot Chili said it really wasn’t that hot. I’m not sure how else to guide outside of, he loves his food spicy and he rated this as low spicy. For the Popeye Delight, the main comment was too much red cabbage, not enough spinach. We all agreed that the Tahini sauce was great! Really good sauce composition here 🙌 We all also agreed that the portions were bigger than we were expecting which was great. We got a hummus appetizer but couldn’t finish it since we started to eat it after we had our sandwiches. Lastly, I’m giving it a 4-star for service because it wasn’t too busy when we were there but the tables were a little dirty. We wiped it up no problem but still something we shouldn’t have to do as customers. Should you visit this spot, I hope you enjoy as much as we did 👍

Google
We had really good vegatarian Shawarma and a Bowl of Salad. Both really good and large portions. We also had a vegetable soup which was good too. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Suggestions for improvements: please consider to use normal/washable dishes & cutlery for guests who're eating on-site in the restaurant (instead of plastic forks, plastic bowls with lid for the soup, etc.).

Yelp
When you're hanging with known vegans it's interesting to learn the places they go. Nish Nush is heavy Mediterranean. My sister calls it a Kosher middle eastern delight. It's very busy. Service struggles to keep up. Knowing that, we don't waste the server's time and get everything straight as an arrow. It's tiny, too. A few tables inside, more outside. Warm enough for us, we are outside. The hummus was creamy and rich. Tasty but too rich to eat very much. The tahini is classic and completes their wonderful Kabob sandwich. They tried to talk me into the Arais, which is a crispy pita stuffed with impossible meat. I'm not an impossible meat aficionado. I passed. I had a bite and was correct in passing. It is served with Jalapeño tomato salad tahini & amba that were grrrrreat!! I actually recommend coming here even though I probably won't. It's not them, it's me. 12/24

Yelp
Nish Nush is a great Mediterranean spot with lots of really great vegan friendly options that's not just restricted to falafel and hummus either. I ordered their Vegan Shawarma ($17) as well as their Fried Eggplants ($8). The former came out in a huge bowl when dining in and was a lot of food. The combination of spiced soy meat with the makings of a shawarma was the perfect meal for sure. However, the "fried eggplants" were more-so panfried instead of deep fried, so not quite what I expected and it was served cold. Not sure how intentional that was but I wouldn't get it again. Service here was friendly and welcoming, letting us stay until they were closing up. I appreciated having options of dining inside or outside making it great for people watching along the streets.

Yelp
Pretty filling and healthy choice if you're near Chambers Street . The food is mostly plant based with choices like Falafel or Hummus or sandwiches. Get the Lemonana drink , it's a delicious lemonade with fresh mint and really hits the spot . We got a side of fried cauliflower with tahini and while it was delicious I would say only order it if it's at least 2 or 3 people since it's quite a good portion size and if you're alone it will be hard to finish with the rest of your food. I got a Falafel platter which has 9 Falafel in 3 different flavors with salads and 2 pita. I liked the tomato flavored one the best and brought the leftovers home . My friend got the Masabacha Hummus with Chickpea and egg on top and thought it was really smooth and liked it. This place can get busy and seems really popular. Staff are really nice. About 5 blocks from City Hall . Good spot.

Yelp
Omg 1000 out of 10 absolutely delicious. Authentic fast and great location! Ordered right before they closed and was not disappointed.

Yelp
So we were hungry! Did our obligatory yelp check and found we were a block from this place. It just so happened to also be a super healthy option so we decided let's go! Once inside we were pleasantly surprised with a great vegetarian menu and smiling faces. Of course we had to try and it and ended up so happy! The food is really fresh, and the flavor was even better. I highly recommend if you love Mediterranean food. And if you don't know if you do, be adventurous and give it a try. The cashier was gracious and didn't judge us for ordering like we brought a hockey team, service was prompt, we didn't wait more than 10 minutes for our food. The vibe inside is relaxed and a great spot for casual dining.

Yelp
This place a must-visit for vegans and non-vegans alike, combining innovative dishes with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Yelp
Delicious food in a casual atmosphere. I made the mistake of ordering the falafel salad instead of the platter and regretted it. Next time I'll order the thing I really want instead of trying to be healthier. Also the falafel is gluten free!

Yelp
Came here on a rainy day with some friends for a quick casual bite before an event. This place is conveniently located near multiple subway lines. It's located on a smaller street but seems to still be very popular. Seating was all high top seating with one large table and a couple of tables for four people and then another line of stools against the window. There is a bathroom for customers. Food was pretty good, note that this is a vegetarian place. Salad was served in a very large portion and delicious. The falafel was yummy and not too dry. They also have spicy falafel! That was new to me but definitely worth a try if you like having a kick to your food.

Yelp
Let me preface this that I'm not vegetarian but I really enjoyed eating here. The food tasted very fresh and tasted quite authentic to me. As far as the inside of the establishment goes , the decor and seating was very low key and casual. After ordering we sat down and waited for 5-10min for the food to be ready. We loved the hummus, labneh, pickled vegetables, and crispy falafel bites. I have no complaints apart from the fact that I wish they served shawarma or some other type of animal protein. Would come again, and if you have friends who are vegetarian this is a must try for them!

Yelp
Delicious! And the portions are huge. Our group of 4 each ordered the falafel trio and it may have been too much but we did our best to eat it all My favorite was the purple cabbage and the tahini sauce. Yum!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice falafel sandwiches. Strong combination of flavors and falafel felt fresh. Quick and friendly service.

Yelp
There are two locations in the financial district but I decided to come to this location as they had a big table that seats a party of 5+. There are plenty of high top seatings around. The service is quick to order and they make the food fast. The portion of these sandwiches are really big - enough to cause food coma at work. We ordered the Popeye sandwich which is a spinach a d mushroom falafel - there are plenty of falafel to fill the sandwich, it wascdef not dry and it has a nice crunch. it was a nice balance of the cabbage slaw and the hummus and taking for extra flavor. The Red Hot Chiki sandwich has a good kick of spiciness in the falafel. The Deluxe is a good pick if you would like to try all 3 kinds of falafel. Good mixture and ta a te all around. The Avocado salad was fresh with all the ingredients. It has a nice pesto dressing that was not overpowering. Both original and seasoned fries ahas a good crunchy texture. It is crispy - not oily and not soggy at all.

Yelp
Nish Nush is one of my go-tos when I want a good, filling falafel pita. Prices are reasonable, and the food is always consistent and fresh. The best (maybe I'm biased, but here me out) sandwich on the menu is the Deluxe-why you may ask? You get all 3 of the falafel flavors offered by Nish Nush-what a great idea, as it allows you to try it all. My favorite of the 3 is the spinach falafel. I also love the addition of the fried eggplant, which is a slightly sweet and complements the sandwich well. The pita bread itself is better than most I've had, as it seems fresh-baked rather than out of the bag.Even the simple cabbage slaw has a ton of flavor. And they never skimp on the portions or toppings. By the end of constructing my sandwich, they always seem to struggle to get it compiled and wrapped-a sign of a fully loaded pita, and I love it!

Yelp
My cousin, Sheila, is visiting from Florida this weekend to attend our cousins wedding. I am acting as her tour guide this weekend and today was FIDI day. After our post WTC/ Oculus/ 9:11/Memorial she states " Now, let's find some really great falafel". I remembered Nish Nush*was close by thus we walked to our falafel! Nish Nush serves healthy vegan Mediterranean fare in a camp like setting. The atmosphere is very friendly and questions about how this is prepared.. what do you recommend.. etc are answered with a smile. My cousin dived right in with her order " The Classic Forever" sandwich which consisted of falafel, Israeli salad and Tahini housed in a pita pocket. I, however, was a bit stumped as to what I wanted. Reviewing the menu, everything sounded tempting: Green Falafel Salad? Vegan Shawarma? Crispy Garlic Tomato Hummus? Oy vey.. my head and palate hurt! Then I decided I wanted eggplant ( still on this eggplant salad kick). NN offers a fried eggplant but I wanted more of a tomato based spread. Thus, I ordered Saruf: fried eggplant ( mezza meaning burnt in Hebrew), onions, peppers, garlic in what looked like tomato paste. It came with a warm side of pita and tahini. It was downright delicious and spise ( spicy in Hebrew). I needed their homemade lemonade with fresh mint to wash it down: tart and refreshing. NN has a menu that will delight everyone's palate and I highly recommend dining here; my cuz stated this was one of the best falafel she has eaten. Now for the *( you noticed!). Nish Nush means snack in Hebrew.. this is one snack you should savor! L' Chaim!

Yelp
Was craving for falafel and hummus Very friendly service Good food Nice venue Nothing more to ask for

Yelp
I ordered the Falafel Trio Platter ($15.5), which includes all three falafel flavors, hummus, israeli salad, white and red cabbage, romaine lettuce, olives, pickles, tahini, and schug. These are the best falafels I have had! Each component of the platter provides a new flavor and texture, making for a fun meal. The serving size is large enough for two. I'll be eating here regularly and inviting my friends here!
google avatar

Olivia C.

Yelp
I'm not a vegetarian but this is one of my favorite Mediterranean places! The prices are very reasonable and the staff is very friendly. But really it's the food that is sooo good! The falafels and the different dips and sauces are so good. I would come here more often if I lived nearby!
google avatar

Yelp
Big selection of all vegetarian meals. Had the Classic Forever (felafel, hummus, salad, tahini, more) sandwich. Excellent. Also roasted beets and fried eggplant ( not breaded and so good!). Partner had the Haloumi Salad. We took a bunch home. Not fancy. Casual. Friendly staff. Would go again!

Yelp
The pita bread was good but this place is not suitable for winter cuz the food is cold

Yelp
Yum Yum Yum! After a long walk around the city I decided to stop into Nish Nush for dinner to-go. I don't normally eat a lot of meatless meals but I'm certainly open to it and I'm glad I am because my meal was delicious! I ordered the chili falafel burger with a side salad that paired perfectly with the sandwich. The sandwich was spicy and had so much flavor packed in and the salad was fresh and bright. I honestly could eat this everyday and I will definitely come back the next time I'm in NYC. I would recommend stopping in or grabbing to go from here for lunch or dinner!

Yelp
Chose this place for a work event when I was in charge of putting together the social. One of my colleagues is vegetarian, so we wanted to accommodate his dietary needs. One of the perks about Nish Nush is that you can find several locations across the city. Baba ghanouj PROS: - Huge quantity, definitely able to share. - Comes with a good amount of Pita as well. The pita segments or served warm as well. CONS: - I personally really like the flavor of eggplant, and I didn't really taste too much eggplant in this baba ghanouj. It almost tasted way too creamy. Side of falafel PROS: - Came out hot and crispy - Great size, quite big actually. - for three pieces, some people will think this is not enough. However, they are size more than makes up for it. In addition, this is almost pure protein. It definitely feels you are fast. Especially when you're eating it with pita bread slices, and baba ghanouj. CONS: - none I am not vegetarian, although at one point I was. It is very hard to find vegetarian options. It is also very hard to find decently- priced, large or good quantity portions in a Mediterranean restaurant. This place totally hit the spot. I also saw the quantity and portion-size of my colleagues' orders, and these were huge. Some of their platters had not only large entrée sizes, but a great amount of servings of fresh vegetables and salads. There is limited seating, though, but if you come later towards the lunch hour, or right, when they open before the lunch crowd comes, you might be lucky enough to grab a seat. There are maybe 2 to 3 tables outside that you could grab as well if the weather is nice. Would definitely come here again. This place actually makes me consider wanting to be vegetarian again!

Ari K.

Yelp
Ordered the Haloumi salad which was totally flavorless. With a drink, $23. I just noticed a similar review for the same order. What an easy fix to alter this recipe to make it more appealing and tasty (I could make a far better version of this).

Kaushik T.

Yelp
We had a group lunch(vegetarian/vegan). It was amazing ambiance was nice. Falafel sandwiches are nice . Burger was amazing. Wrap is must try. we got freshly cooked falafel served so had a good experience

Sara M.

Yelp
Ordered the falafel trio. Was pleasantly surprised by the massive portion. It must have included close to 8-9 falafels, pita, various Israeli salads and hummus. I highly recommend if you want fresh Israeli food!
google avatar

Jocelyn C.

Yelp
The food was great -- not too heavy and more than enough (probably should've ordered one platter for 2 people). The hummus was especially addicting, and the pitas were so good when hot. The best part, though, was the service -- I didn't catch his name, but the employee who took our order was so so kind. He checked up on us to make sure our table was wiped down, gave us extra sauces to take with our leftovers, and even gave us free baklava. Definitely coming back!!
google avatar

Ina B.

Yelp
Nish Nush in Tribeca is a fantastic vegetarian spot. They have the best falafel in NYC. The service is efficient, the food is delicious and fresh, and their Falafel Trio Platter portion is quite large--you could easily make two meals out of it. I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Olga K.

Yelp
Delicious and filing portions. I recommend sabich sandwiches. The interior is very unique with the framed glass wall.

Dayana B.

Yelp
Horrible! would like to share my experience at your Tribeca location today, June 2nd, and the spiteful and disgusting experience we had there. A very sneaky server named Lui was attending to us. He made us wait for 30 minutes for our order, knowing it was not being prepared, because he was spiteful that my husband did not leave a gratuity (since it is a self-service place). We used to love this place but will NEVER come back. The sneaky, spiteful cashier Lui should definitely be trained or fired. The reputation of the place is going down with such disgusting and spiteful service. I hope this cashier enjoyed his sandwich while my husband and I waited for food that was never going to come. By the way, when we finally got our sandwiches, they were mixed up. The food quality has gone downhill along with the reputation. It was a disgusting experience.

Yelp
When you want a tasty falafel this is a solid spot. Lots of people taking their orders to go, but there are some tables and counter spaces to eat in.

Yelp
We ordered their veg platter and loved their hummus and falafel. Service is quick and the food tastes fresh

Yelp
Another good casual place with quick service for Mediterranean. It has lots of familiar items you can find in this cuisine like pitas. Nish Nush has a couple of locations with this one being in Tribeca. Has a very casual and relaxed atmosphere. The prices on most items are typically kind of high but nothing that seems too out of the ordinary for around here. It has the classic and favorite stuff in Mediterranean cuisine such as falafel. Something interesting they do here is having three different flavors of falafel. They have the Classic, which is the regular kind of falafel you typically get when you go to a Mediterranean restaurant. It also has the Roasted Red Pepper. The final one is the Spinach And Mushroom, which sounds weird. Since I'm weird maybe I should like it. Whenever the next time here is I'll get this. I picked up a Classic Forever. It's $8, which is kind of a lot for only a sandwich. This comes with the Classic flavored falafel, hummus, Israeli salad, and tahini. Has lots of good things to choose from and they give you a lot. It surely helps in getting over the kind of high prices. There's also a location in FiDi if you're too far away from Tribeca.

gourmande m.

Yelp
Most flavorless salad. Ordered falafel and added haloumi to my salad. Haloumi tasted felt like plastic, dressing had no flavor, and falafel was bland. Mint lemonade was too sweet. 28.00 for this. Surfaces sticky. Yuck
google avatar

Theresa N.

Yelp
I went during lunch hours and just expect it to be packed. However, the service was quick and efficient. There's also outdoor seating too. I ordered the deluxe sandwich which includes all three falafel flavors. My first reaction was, "holy crap this is huge." I definitely recommend sharing this with someone else especially if you want to order multiple items. The falafel was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, full of flavor. I wish there were more veggies mixed throughout the falafel. It got really heavy towards the second half. Definitely will eat here again!
google avatar

Harshita B.

Yelp
This place in Tribeca has blown my mind with it's Falafel Platter This is a small vegan food joint by the corner of the road with quiet a wide menu for a vegan place. The quantity is enough for 2 and the prices are decent!!! The Falafel platter contains 3 different types of falafel, salad, hummus and 2 in-house sauces, served with 2 pita pockets. The falafel was extremely crispy and tasty and the hummus was also pretty delicious I also felt the idea to use chickpeas under glass table tops to be creative! I would recommend this place even to non-vegetarians and I can assure you won't regret it
google avatar

Jean K.

Yelp
Amazing food. Could eat here everyday if I could. Small place. Very busy. This is the only thing I've eaten here. Wish I lived in the neighborhood.

Amy M.

Yelp
YUM! This place is so amazing and I am kicking myself for not trying Nish Nush sooner! I got a mix of things as part of the platter and it was all SO delicious. I especially loved the pickled salads, the roasted eggplant, stuffed grape leaves, hummus and this amazing spicy pepper sauce. Oh and the pita! It's just all so good! Moreso, Javier and the team there are so kind and welcoming! Thank you so much Nish Nush - can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Melissa N.

Yelp
One of the best hummus in the city! Located right in Tribeca, Nish Nush serves delicious vegetarian Mediterranean cuisine made with high-quality ingredients. They offer an extensive menu that includes vegan and gluten free options. It's a little pricey, but they serve very generous portions. Excellent falafel, which they serve in many different ways. I'm curious about their split pea soup. Overall, 4.5 stars.
google avatar

Jing K.

Yelp
Can't say enough good things about this place. Great middle eastern vegetarian options of falafel, hummus, baba, salads, and some really good lemonade. Everything is made fresh to order and the staff is always super friendly whether I come mid day or late at night. Nice casual vibe, huge portions and you can really taste the freshness in every bite
google avatar

Dwreck I.

Yelp
Cool spot. Fresh food. Open Kitchen. Quick Service. Chill Ambiance. Great spot for light lunch or late night vegetarian food.

Rebecca B.

Yelp
When I go to work in Manhattan, I like to go to Nish Nush for lunch. It is located on Reade street. Till recently Ive always enjoyed the falafel. However, the last 2 times I requested a falafel in a whole wheat pita to go, and both times I got a regular pita and it was totally was cold. I work a short block away. I'm thinking that someone ordered and never showed up for their order, so they palmed it off to me. I want to be treated as a valued customer, after all they don't charge any less for a cold, old falafel sandwich.
google avatar

Shreya B.

Yelp
Great find! We came to Nish Nush a few nights ago and despite the small location, it was cozy and staff was so nice and friendly! Food was amazing - we ordered the classic falafel sandwich and the falalafel platter, along with the mint tea and some baklava. Everything was delicious and portion sizes were HUGE. You definitely get your money's worth! Lots of vegetarian options too! I'd definitely be back - makes for a great lunch spot or a good dinner option if you don't want super heavy food. Thanks Nish Nush for the great dining experience!

Yelp
Mediterranean food and myself get along like peas and carrots. It goes down easy, and tastes great. Unfortunately if I eat it too fast sometimes it runs through me like a speeding freight train, but that is a small price to pay, as it is a lesson to learn for next time. First off, the staff is really nice and cute. The cashier was knowledgeable and was really good about pulling all the stops to ensure I would like my order and get me to come back, which she did. I got three items, the Deluxe falafel, a spicy bean soup, and a baklava. Each of them were full of flavor and the portions are BIG. The large soup is enough to satisfy anybody's hunger pangs and carries quite a powerful punch in flavor and texture. There were beans in every spoonful. The falafel I had was also bursting with flavor, and out of the pocket. It was so messy but so hard to put down. I really liked this a lot. The only con is the messy sauces, which hurt me later... but I really, really liked this. Next time I might get a salad or a simple falafel to combat this issue. But I was happy with this falafel. As for the baklava, it is a bit expensive, and small, though you do get 3 bite sized pieces in a plastic container. They are very sweet but taste great. My advice to you is wait a bit before devouring these. Give your stomach a chance to reset before clogging it with these bad boys or you might have a tough day afterwards. It was quite an experience and I really hope you give this business a try real soon.

Not A.

Yelp
Service was great, the vegan food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable! It was busy on a warm, sunny Sunday afternoon.

Moshe K.

Yelp
Really nice great staff, amazing costumer service! The food was fucking crazy good for such a good price, the vibe and layout is super chill, spaced out setting. I loved it, if ur Jewish go there, if not, still go there trust

Yelp
Ordered Nish Nush for delivery and had a great experience as always. My boyfriend and I shared the Falafel trio platter with whole wheat pita, plus I had the homemade lemonade with fresh ginger and tumeric. Finally, we got the baba ganoush - not my favorite but my boyfriend liked it. Next time: I want to try the soup!
google avatar

Elizabeth M.

Yelp
This vegan shawarma is so flavorful and the texture was so good! I loved every bite of this. I notice that mine looks different from the other vegan shawarma pics so I'm not sure if the recipe changed. The delivery packaging was great as well. I can't wait to have this again!

Silky K.

Yelp
Always great service and great food! A lot of vegetarian options. The spicy falafel is delicious!
google avatar

Shubhi M.

Yelp
What a great place to eat! I especially loved that the falafel platter was so large, me and my friend shared it and got an extra pita and had more than enough to eat each! (Pretty cheap if you're looking for good Mediterranean to share with someone!!) The best past of it was the three different types of falafel, I especially loved the red chili falafel! It was also fried fresh in front of our faces which might've been because we got there around 11:30am, I'm not sure if they always do that. The food tasted fresh and tasty and the staff was friendly, also they had numerous hand sanitizers to eat which was niche because i was planning on eating it in a park nearby!

Yelp
Good vegetarian options. Feels good to be here. I want to be come back to try more food options.
