This place is really, really cool - the sort of combo dinner/drinks/movie spot has become a little more commonplace in NYC now but Nitehawk was one of the first to do it, opening in 2011.
There are only 4 (I believe) theaters within the cinema so the selection of movies is a little limited, but they're always curated well. Most recently I went to go see the Mr. Rogers documentary after finding that it wasn't showing at most of the theaters around me in Manhattan. Plus, they offer some series or special events (old movies, certain themes, etc). The pre-movie reel always has a cool vintage feel and is customized based on the movie you're going to see.
At $12, tickets are a steal for the city. Unfortunately, there is no option to reserve seats ahead of time (to clarify, you can reserve a ticket, just not pick a specific seat), which means that you're forced to show up 30 or so minutes ahead of time for popular showings if you're picky about your view. However, it's not a bad opportunity to kill some time/order drinks/chat.
Food is pretty good and reasonable prices for the city. It's by no means the movie theater gouging you might see elsewhere. The beer selection is okay and runs from around $6-$8 depending on what you get. You can also get a $5 draft or well mixed drink with your ticket stub at the bar downstairs.
The theater itself is a little run-down/dinky, but I actually think that it enhances the experience. If you're looking for a similar but slightly more commercial enterprise, I'd recommend the Alamo Drafthouse.
All in all, would ideally have a larger selection of movies running and the ability to choose seats ahead of time, but a great spot nonetheless. Will absolutely return.
