"Since the late ’80s, this distinctive carryout restaurant near Barclays Center has been slinging halal Chinese food, doctrinaire in every regard except that it doesn’t use pork. Most of the menu is Chinese American, and anything involving shrimp is recommended. But the big, beefy steamed dumplings are very much northern Chinese style, and also very much worth ordering." - Caroline Shin

"This emphatically named old-timer a stone’s throw from Barclays Center never had much seating anyway, so it’s operating just as it always has, even in the age of novel coronavirus. Nor do the delivery services pay any attention to it, despite its prominent and convenient location. Sichuan shrimp and bulky beef dumplings are the move here, and expect the servings to be generous. Carryout only, call (718) 875-9888." - Robert Sietsema, Eater Staff

if you are in Brooklyn this is a great spot for some good food. Never had anything like it. Trust me this is worth the drive. Despite no seating and the restaurant looking like a shack. The food is so valid it makes it all worth it! Highly recommend No Pork Halal Kitchen!

Still as good as it was 5 years ago. Such a dope spot. Found them 10 years ago and haven’t eaten there in 5 years. The food is still excellent and best part is it’s halal. The only negative is that they only take cash. So come prepared. Had the General TSO lunch special with chicken fried rice. Sooooo Good.

Very fast services with no smile! We order 4 kinds of meals on their menu: fried rice, beef broccoli sauteed, chicken fried noodle and Bourbon chicken wings that cost us 28 bucks. For Asian people who like spicy and rich taste food, those meals were totally disappointed. The chicken wings was too sour and the rest meals definitely tasteless and not even close to the original Chinese ones. I think their cooks need to learn more how to cook the real Chinese food..! The only good thing is, it's halal food which is rare to find in NYC.

The food was so delicious. It’s really great to have this establishment in the neighborhood especially since they serve halal food

SerpAPI
One of the best Chinese food, and halal, and cheaper than any restaurant out there. Highly recommended to try. I wish they had some form of delivery service and also could accept card payments because sometimes customers have to go to the nearby ATM and pay fee to the ATM for every cash withdrawal transaction, and parking issue there too. So would be one of the top Chinese food because of the fresh food and cheapest price, only if they add these 2 services of delivery and card payments. Thanks for helping us with the best Chinese food in Brooklyn downtown

Always great to come here. They’ve been doing a fantastic job of serving halal Chinese food for the entirety of my life. They’re very hospitable and very sweet people. I appreciate them always being so nice! The food quality is fantastic, the best Chinese food in all of Brooklyn.

SerpAPI
The food here is great and definitely value for money. It has both Malaysian/Singaporean style Chinese dishes and standard American Chinese dishes. Not a big fan of American Chinese but this place does that quite good as well.

The place had 10 ppl working in kitchen and 2 cashiers and none of them were standing still even for a minute during my 15 mins wait there. The food was okay bland, there are better Chinese spots in city which I’ve tried.

Yelp
Always a hit especially on rainy days. This place is so affordable and the employees are always accommodating. They gave us a free ice tea because we made such a large order--literally made my day! There's nor that much seating, they just have 3 stools next to the door. But it's a great take out spot and the food stays fresh and delicious. They have a huge selection of sauces that you can take. The food was delicious and I literally had nothing left over on my plate. I was super full from the order even though it was a small. The beef broccoli with fried rice is a hit for me always but especially at No Pork. I love the way the beef is tender and the broccoli had a nice crunch. I liked the fried rice but I forgot to mention I didn't want beansprouts so that was on me. Everyone else loved their order and there was still a lot of food left at the end.

Estee A.

Yelp
A solid spot. I ordered the all day special general Tso's with fried rice, chicken egg roll, and a ginger ale that came out to around $12. Fast, reasonably priced, and good.

Anjali R.

Yelp
One of my fav places ever, ever. Good meat quality, good prices, fast service. Just wish I lived closer! I'd be here everyday.

Yelp
When I was researching halal options in Brooklyn and ran across the creatively named No Pork Halal Kitchen (imagine the naming discussion/debate), I figured this was one spot I had to try. I like Chinese food, and in this case I wouldn't have to worry about cross-contamination with pork. This place truly is a hole in the wall. No frills, and no dining in. It's a takeout place. I ordered a small General Tso's Chicken w/ fried rice, which came out to $9.75 total. Unfortunately they only accept cash, but thankfully I had $10. The chicken was good. It was nicely breaded and spicy. There were only two pieces of broccoli, but plenty of rice. I would have liked less rice and more broccoli. All in all, an enjoyable dish and a good value.

Yelp
This was a go to place for me over the years.....but lately you can tell the quality has suffered big time and you can tell by who they use as a supplier for the meats. I got my usual Half Fried Chick with beef fried rice...and the chicken was dry and rubbery....really really bad quality. As for the beef fried rice....i don't think it was beef but rather a bag of rubber bands. I'm done with this place!!!

Noor A.

Yelp
Food we ordered Orange chicken Fried shrimps Plain noodles Chow mein chicken and beef Chow mein shrimp Lo mein curry The rating i would give 5/10 not very authentic close to chinese food not close to very good Price wise and quantity is 10/10 very large quantity probably enough for two persons Service is good There is no sitting area not even chairs to sit to wait for your orders Here is my tip I order e from here because it is halal I took uber for 6 people for my family (cost 14-20$) about 14 mins drive and we went to sit on the nicest view in Brooklyn on pier Brooklyn bridge park so I recommend do the same l. See the picture

Jina P.

Yelp
I got sesame chicken for $8.75 and the portions were pretty good for the price. It took ~10 minutes for my food to be ready during non-peak hours. It's a takeout restaurant so there's not really seating and the interior is quite small. Nonetheless, it's one of the best Chinese takeout spots in the area.

Ifeoma U.

Yelp
The cashier/phone person is rude. It's cash only, no card. They don't deliver, and they are not on the apps. The restaurant is dingy, with large, faded pictures of the food options displayed on the wall above the counter, and your transaction will be completed with bullet-proof glass between you and the cashier. There's nowhere to sit, and there's about 50 square feet of standing room. And still, it is the best American Chinese option in the area, by far. Perhaps all of these factors are *why* it's the best option. When the cashier abruptly hung up without a word when I said "thank you" on the phone, didn't ask me for my name or phone number and only assigned me an order number, I knew it was gonna be good. When I saw how their menu was uploaded on their website, simple images of a marked up physical menu taken on someone's phone, I knew it was gonna be good. When I got to the restaurant and there were 10 different people huddled and waiting for their food, I knew it was gonna be good. Where other places are inconsistent or bland, this place has all your classic options and classic nyc american chinese taste, and even though it is halal you really won't miss the pork. Also, the prices are pretty good, especially for 2023. Two combos (w/ egg rolls and drinks) came out to $21.50. Decent serving sizes.

Saad K.

Yelp
This place was horrible. The meat has a rubbery texture and my wife and I immediately had upset stomachs after eating here. A couple of things to consider before going here: - This place has a reputation for low quality food. Check out the 1-2 star reviews references things like maggots and other poor quality control issues with food - The service is bad. The cashier was rude with her tone and body language as we asked questions about the menu Please don't be fooled by the cheap prices here. There are tons of great options nearby and it's not worth saving a few bucks eating extremely low quality food here.

Rokujo M.

Yelp
Had their food. Typical Chinese takeout food. Not very memorable. Hopefully it was healthier...

Shatil R.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing service and food. Beware that this is a takeout establishment. They take cash only. But their food is terrific and they are crazy fast.

Juan J.

Yelp
It is definitely a neighborhood favorite judging by the lines. I say it's an average Chinese takeout but my husband said their fried chicken wings are much better than average. Who's right?

Usama A.

Yelp
Great food taste amazing Best halal Chinese food I have eaten anywhere Highly recommend to everyone

John S.

Yelp
I've been frequenting this place for many many years (decades actually) and it still is the best take out Chinese halal food! Whenever I'm in NY, this spot is a must! I was last there a few months ago. Ginger chicken is one of my favorites along with Malaysian fried rice and spicy Indian chicken to name a few. It's a take out spot so grab your meal and eat at home or take a seat at one of the Brooklyn parks and enjoy your food!

Kasheem D.

Yelp
Best Go to Chinese spot in the area. Everytime I come they make my general Tso chicken with garlic sauce. Because I like that brown sauce.. not that red sauce

Mandy C.

Yelp
Great spot for late night food in case you miss your dinner time! I got the Chinese chow mein and the chicken wings. Be warned that the dishes are quite salty (prob lots of MSG in it lol) but like I said, it's a great late night spot if nothing else is opened and the only option around is the 1.5 star McDonalds. Also HUGE portions.

Azim H.

Yelp
No-frills! No place to sit. just good halal Chinese take out, and very reasonably priced. We loved it.

Tanya R.

Yelp
No Pork Halal is another neighborhood classic. I have definitely been getting food at this spot since my high school days. NPH serves some of the cleanest, freshest tasting Chinese food in Brooklyn. I have ordered the crispy, pepper shrimps several times, without disappointment. The fried rice comes with scrambled egg which I love and is very tasty. The staff makes you feel good about spending your money there. Take out only and it can get crowded at times but the service is never rushed or annoyed.

Qi G.

Yelp
This is our favorite Chinese takeout restaurant in the area! The chicken and shrimp dishes here are fantastic as well as the egg rolls. Lo mein noodles are okay, but the egg fried rice is delicious. This place is so popular that most customers call in advance for pick up. As other reviewers have mentioned, the general tso's chicken with egg fried rice + egg roll never disappoints!

Abila R.

Yelp
A oldie but a goodie. This place is delicious and halal. Serves good proportions and are fairly quick with big orders. It's a lazy night go to meal for me and the family. We've been coming here for years and they never disappoint!

Rahil H.

Yelp
First off, I'm obsessed with the name of this place and think it's fantastic. This place is perfect if you're craving some Chinese food. They have a ton of options and their portion sizes are HUGE. For the cheap price and portion size, you really can't beat this place!!

Adrianne J.

Yelp
I haven't ordered from them in a while. I used to work in area few years ago. I remembered how good their sesame chicken was. I decided to stop in and order for me and my daughter. Unfortunately it wasn't as tasteful as I remembered. The chicken was dry, hard, and had no flavor. This was yesterday. When my daughter heated up her leftovers for lunch today she found this in her chicken. We don't know what this came off of, she just threw the rest of her leftovers away..We didn't bother going all the way back to borem hill from east NY. Because they would probably of given us hard time and denied it came from them.

NoName X.

Yelp
For something that got such good reviews I had high hopes. I was so grossly disappointed. Food was meh and I wouldn't go back.

Gladys D.

Yelp
Got it for lunch at work one day. It was fresh and very good. Peer gave me good advice on what to order. All the dishes were cooked to perfection

Adrianna S.

Yelp
Delicious chinese halal food!! Best in the city for halal chinese, staff is always kind to

Melinda A.

Yelp
... gave me raw chicken... wouldn't recommended getting anything fried they aren't taking they time wit the fried food... or atlesst cut the wings before you give them. to us... now my stomach hurts for eatin undercooked chicken

Abdullah R.

Yelp
If you craving Halal Chinese takeout, this is the spot for you. It's mainly a take out place but has 4-5 chairs to sit if needed. I go there for the usual Basic Chinese order aka General Tso's Chicken or sesame chicken. They also carry bean pies from Abu's bakery which you should def try for dessert after.

Adnan M.

Yelp
We have been going here for over 4 years and the quality has remained the same and the prices have been reasonable. Can't go wrong with the general tsos chicken. We also ordered chicken wings w garlic sauce and chicken legs. The food was served fast even during this time, and we ate at home for over 3 days due to the generous serving sizes. One of my favorite Chinese takeout places.

Chastity M.

Yelp
The keep the condiments access to the customers which i like vs any other halal /Chinese place that they implement it already in the bag to ago and be so stingy with the sauces. The service is really nice and polite and VERY organize what i like is they collect donations to the local mosque because i believe they're Islamic . I enjoy the options they offer to reach there customers i eat unhealthy and love fried things and me and my employee got the same dish and they offer him a healthy choose with plain brown rice and grilled peppers and mines fried rice and grilled peppers. FYI THERES IS NO PORK & CASH ONLY

William P.

Yelp
Return? Absolutely! Atmosphere (3) No frills, take-out only. They have an "A" sanitary grade which is all you need to care about Wait (5) Told me it would be ready in 10 minutes and it was ready in 10 minutes Food (4) Got the chicken and broccoli w/ vegetable fried rice. Large portion size, good flavor (added my own hot sauce at home). Only complaint is that there was no vegetable fried rice. Not sure if it was supposed to be mixed in or included as a side - either way, it wasn't there. Also got two vegetable rolls which were top-notch (not greasy) Drinks (n/a) Service (4) Very friendly but tough to get them on the phone (got many busy signals before getting through). They also don't deliver so that is a little bit of a bummer if you aren't from the immediate hood. Cost - $12.75. They only take CASH

Diana R.

Yelp
Standard. A bit above standard. Yes , its your run of the mill Chinese American takeout spot.. Clean with standard flavors. Halal ( I always feel better eating Halal food) (mental/spiritual thing)

Timothy R.

Yelp
Always on point with their General Tso's Bean Curd, and everyday is a good day with no hog. A decades old neighborhood staple of classic NYC takeout Chinese. As-salamu alaykum.

Rodeyna E.

Yelp
Amazing amazing amazing!!!!! Can't recommend this place enough Mashallah. I tell anyone I can about it the second Chinese food is mentioned. I love their lo mein, their sesame chicken, and their general tso chicken. My fav go to order is a sesame chicken + veg fried rice (size small). Try it!!! Also their prices are incredibly reasonable, and their portions are very filling. I always have leftovers when I get a size small and I keep it till when I feel hungry again. Try this amazing underrated place!!! :)

Saquib S.

Yelp
This is the most unique Chinese restaurant. The choices are far better then all Chinese restaurants i have been to. I would recommend this to anyone.

Ahmed M.

Yelp
My fav Chinese food spot in all of NYC. The food here is always fresh and made fresh to order. Service is standard as you would expect from a Chinese fast food joint. The place is clean and food is inexpensive. You get your money's worth. I always order general tsos chicken, wings with fries, and chicken with broccoli. These are my top favs. But you can't go wrong with any item honestly. Lastly the place is halal which is great because you know the meat is fresh.

Rimsha A.

Yelp
I've been coming here since I was a kid and have never once had a bad experience. The food is delicious, and one of the only good Halal Chinese places in Brooklyn, I'll go out of my way to come here! The only thing is that it's cash-only, but there is a deli next door which has an atm ($3 fee) you can use! Space is small and I wish there was seating but oh well, the food and service make up for it!

Aliya H.

Yelp
I got dumplings from here and they were so yummy We love this place and i think when we go to Brooklyn again we will for sure come here

Addas A.

Yelp
5 STARS! I eat at this place once a month since I don't live too close to it but I will definitely say my hour drive is worth it. My usual order is chicken fried rice with mixed vegetables and shrimp. I love the food. It's always hot because it's cooked there on the spot. The food is also delicious. I love the chicken, it's so soft and is full of seasoning and flavor. The vegetables and rice are just as great. All of them have been cooked perfectly and drenched in flavor. They provide packets sauces, but I like to ask for their special hot sauce which is free. Its a nice oily hot sauce that isn't just hot, but is full of flavor. The service is great in person and they're really busy, so when you call on the phone, make sure you say your order correctly. Other than that the prices are fair and definitely worth the price.

Willie C.

Yelp
This place is pretty good and it's really halal. They have this pepper chicken that's pretty good but I go for their chicken with broccoli in garlic sauce. They dont use the cheap quality meat like some of the other take out restaurants.

Naimul H.

Yelp
I love this place. Garlic sauce is great on anything. Sesame Chicken and General Tso's are good options. Black pepper chicken is not my favorite. The best thing in my opinion is the mixed chicken or wings with garlic sauce. My wife loves the Indian Chicken.

Kenny C.

Yelp
I've lived in this neighborhood for 5+ years and No Pork Halal Kitchen has become a recurring joke. The fact that the restaurant name is so spot-on and it caters to a very niche audience make it the perfect butt of many "how is this place still in business?" jokes. But hey, sometimes you're drunk off your ass and need Chinese food to tide you over. Yes, even I eat American Chinese food sometimes. Alcohol does strange things to a person. Ordered the General Tso's chicken with fried rice. It was definitely made to order, as it took about 5 minutes and the chicken was probably some of the crispiest I've had. Let's not dwell on how large the pieces are because then you just go down a rabbit hole of "what the hell am I actually eating?" Portion sizes were good, especially for the price. Only complaint was that the fried rice was pretty embarrassing. Seemed like they just took white rice and tossed it in soy sauce. It was brown and not very fried. It was definitely rice though. China Wok across the street is slightly better, but I hope to never be drunk enough to return to either.

Belania D.

Yelp
I like the food because its not over priced ($7.50) for veggie fried rice (lots of veggies options). Its not over seasoned its totally perfect for a clean diet or if you just want to take it home and re-cook it with your own spices.

Haji Alamdar H.

Yelp
Very nice people, delicious food . I always go there when ever I am in the area . They should extend eatin place little more . Will go again and again.

Meridith G.

Yelp
Just like the name implies, there's no pork here, but there is every kind of Chinese food you're used to getting at every other Chinese takeout spot, with a couple of unusual items like Spicy Indian Chicken, Custard Bean Pie, and Banana Pudding, among others. They are fast, efficient, and courteous... and they accept CASH ONLY. (And there doesn't seem to be an ATM nearby. My Singapore Chow Mei Fun was spicy and tasty, with a touch of curry.

Rashid B.

Yelp
I usually come here to pick up some Chinese rather then just calling up local spot. They have customers coming from various places.. sucks they can't delivery to everyone. But their food is awesome! Its just like every other Chinese spot but this is the deal maker for a lot of Muslim who crave for Chinese.. and is worried about pork in the most common things on the local Chinese menu. Still trying their different things on their menu.. so many options to choose from!

Serina J.

Yelp
Good solid Chinese food and taste better than the average because it is true Halal. I tried there food while staying at a hotel nearby and itvwas late and I was hungry. More so hungry for more than a snack I opted for this place and have been visiting ever since. The chicken with broccoli and spicy garlic sauce, the vegetable rolls and spicy indian chicken are my go to's. Try and see this place is popular and good fresh true halal chinese.

Fela R.

Yelp
I enjoy grabbing food here Togo. Very tasty and fast. I recommend calling over the phone for pick up.

Kohinoor M.

Yelp
The hustle and bustle is real here. Place your order quickly and move out the way for the next, please. Lol. Pretty quick and friendly service given the high volume of orders every time I've been here. The buffalo and spicy garlic wings are the two items that keep bringing me back here. So good! I need to investigate more closely instead of diving in right away but I think the drumsticks are 'extras' that come with the wings. Because I know my order of 8 wings always has a bunch of drumsticks in it too. (They are amazing with the portion sizes.) No complaints whatsoever! Even got my out of state friends+Fam hooked on this place. The sesame and general tso's chicken is pretty good. Fried rice and fried half chicken is another popular one. Though their "Malaysian fried rice" and "mixed fried rice" seemed to be essentially the same. Tastes good nonetheless. It's a pretty short drive to Brooklyn Bridge park from here so we get our food and eat by the water. Think: cheap (not 1st, or 2nd, or 5th) date/hang out afternoon.

Mohamad H.

Yelp
As a practicing muslim, I would not recommend this place at all if you're concerned about the "halalness" of the food. The reason why I'm saying this is because when I was waiting in line to order food, the arab guy in front of me asked the chinese cashier wearing a kufi muslim hat/cap (all the workers cooking apparently wore one too) what time was Isya' prayer. I guess he was trying to seek some sort of verification about if this place was really legit halal or just trying to make good business by catering to the muslim community too. The cashier/owner couldnt seem to answer what time Isya' was immediately (something rather odd if you were a practicing muslim, at least an approximate time would be good enough). The cashiers seemed perplexed by this question, and looked it up in his phone and showed the arab guy the isya' time from google, and says that "Oh, the time always changes". Needless to say, I was beginning to have some doubts about the place since its a pretty basic question. But i went ahead and bought General Tso's chicken and mixed vege beef because I didnt want to be too scrutinizing and doubt he's honest intention as a halal restaurateur. I went back to my car to eat the meal, but I thought that if this food was going to be part of my flesh, I should make sure its halal. So I went back into the restaurant, and politely explaining my doubts, braved myself to ask the same cashier "How many rakaat is Fajr/Subuh the morning prayer". The cashier couldnt answer this very simple question either, and starts saying that "I'm a very busy man, I work from 8.00 am until night, all day long, I dont have time to go out and leave the restaurant to pray". "At least I go to Friday prayers once a week, and I make it up during Ramadan". So, in my humble opinion, if the very basic and an important pillar in your religion is something you can't even fulfill, how can I believe that you actually make sure the food you're selling is halal? The fact that you claim to be selling halal food, and serving other muslims who gave you their trust is invalid with this kind of action. I wouldn't be eating here ever again.

Salah A.

Yelp
the best chinese food spot in the city in my opinion. Just keep in mind, in case the name wasn't obvious, there's no pork in the menu.
