The iconic Nobu has found a home among Atlanta's sushi offerings. This was my first Atlanta Nobu experience, but this was not my first Nobu experience as I tried the one in D.C.--thanks to my Uncle Jake.
Reservations are highly encouraged. If you are wanting to experience this restaurant on a Friday or Saturday, you may have to look weeks in advance.
The restaurant itself is dimly lit, kind of romantic, and the hostess greeted us with a welcoming attitude.
I'll begin by saying the lychee elderflower martini is consistently delicious when comparing locations. -- I had to order it again. Just do it
Starting with the vegetable hand roll, I was immediately impressed. There is a sauce in the roll and idk maybe magic? It was bursting with flavor. The House special was incredible, but even more incredible was the lobster house special--there are no words to describe that oral pleasure of this dish--it's worth every bite.
On that note, for my budget-conscience friends, to have the best experience this restaurant is not low-budget friendly--estimate $100-200/person. It is my belief that additional fees at restaurants should be properly communicated, so here is a forewarning: they charge for still and sparkling water PLUS $20/person not drinking an alcoholic beverage. --they offered tap which I thought was still water, because when you fill a glass with tap water and set it on the table it's still lol, but no, still water is Acqua Panna-- not sure if tap carries a charge too.
--The Still Acqua Panna is crisp and delicious, and if you're a water taste-quality person like me, you'll appreciate it.--
The additional fee for my partner to not drink alcohol was honestly shocking since it seems he would've been better off to order an alcoholic beverage instead. Thus, I decided on deducting a star for the service, as my waitress wasn't attentive nor did she disclose the additional beverage fees. No one enjoys surprise fees. In my opinion, discreetly squeeze another $20/person who opt to be alcohol-free is financially predatory. On a better note, our waitress did mention the price of the lobster special, which I appreciated and recklessly ordered. -just order it -- I still think about it. It was above $50 for that roll, and again I can't stress this enough, every bite was worth it.
My only regret is that I didn't visit the bathroom at this location for a mirror selfie lol. If I had to guess based off previous experience at a separate location, they are kind of gorgeous.. There's a nice photo op outfront- which the patio is open to. I recommend taking a photo before you eat as you may be too full after!
All in all, if you're looking for a high-end, luxurious restaurant, and one that serves sushi, this is a place to add to your date night, business-deal dinners, celebrations.
P.S. other things I would try here is the miso sea bass, crispy spicy tuna, and wagyu nigiri.
