Lychee Martinis Are Trending in D.C. Bars Again | Eater DC

"The original namesake restaurant in Tribeca opened in 1994 with a lychee martini, and more than three decades and many international outposts later, the cocktail remains a constant classic; its current $21 price tag in the West End is noted as a bit higher. “More recently, we blend the lychee fruit with the lychee juice, which adds an aromatic quality that highlights the floral characteristics of the cocktail,” says Ray Perrin, assistant beverage director." - Lulu Chang

Interior is lovely, service was very friendly! We managed to get a table walking in on a Sunday, and it wasn’t too busy downstairs so wasn’t too loud either. Food was good, especially the honey truffle corn and crispy rice! Tacos are small, but tasty. Baked Alaska dessert was surprisingly good, although flambé did char one side a little too much! Expected the food to be better considering the price point but okay for a nice evening out.

Google
The food was very good, a great 3 course dinner with many options. Visited back in March and our waiter was great, very kind and attentive. The atmosphere was very nice and not too loud. The Miso soup is very good. Other dishes that were great was salmon with teriyaki, wagyu dumpling, California Maki, and Lobster Tempura. The gelato and buttermilk doughnuts are a must for dessert.

All I can say is just WOW. I loved the ambiance and the interior design of the restaurant. Great place to have a date or for a celebration. I had the pleasure of having June as our waitress and she was superb. She gave us more insight in the flavor profiles and some recommendations. Her service was great and I would come back just to have her take care of everything. Now for the food, I loved everything except the shittake salad but that’s only because of a texture sensitivity I have, the lemon dressing in the salad was great. The edamame choclo is the best edamame I’ve had, it was spicy and the Peruvian corn it comes with complements the dish so well. I loved the crispy rice with the spicy tuna, the crispy rice is so buttery and the spicy tuna on top was amazing. The rock shrimp was delicious and fresh. The yellowtail and jalapeño was a great burst of freshness with the spice of the jalapeño had my tastebuds dancing. The wagyu dumpling were soooo filling and delicious, I want to try the tacos next time. June also got me and my partner a small bite with some writing to congratulate on our anniversary which was so kind!!! (We couldn’t order dessert because we were SO full but the passion fruit baked Alaska looked soooo good from what I saw other guests) Everything was delicious and I understand the hype now.

Google
Fun experience! I celebrated my birthday , food was delicious! Service was soooo fast and efficient and organized! Presentation is beautiful! I would say the menu was dirty and dirty page of sauce inside , chair was crooked . Overall we enjoyed coming there , staff was friendly and nice

Google
What a beautiful classy designed restaurant with an excellent service! The bento lunch box was a great deal and absolutely delicious. My lunch box contained 3 pieces of sushi, a salmon avacado roll, seared tuna salad, sauteed vegetables with a hint of spiciness, creamy rock shrimp tempura and a rich miso glazed over grill cod. The green tea set was a delight with a hint of dew. Going to shopping now around the area after this heavenly lunch 😋

Google
Nobu was great. The entrance was a little confusing but i found it. The time listed when it’s closed is actually the time they stop taking customers because i went on a Friday at 10:30pm and google/apple maps says it “closes” at 10:45pm. The food comes in small portions so u can try many appetizers if you want. The drinks were great and the server was so friendly and helpful to us.

Google
Nobu has come to define the fine dining experience in Japanese cuisine, and its use of innovation in combining flavors continues to raise the bar. Our experience was largely positive, except for slightly sluggish service and some forgettable dishes (vegetable sushi and veggie tempura to name a few). Apart from that, the service was hospitable, and food and drinks were great, and the ambience was exceptional. Overall, i enjoyed my visit to Nobu and look forward to being back again! Update: dropped by for lunch and everything was delicious and so efficient!

Google
Beautiful location and great ambiance! However, limited menu, mediocre food, and high price points. The $10 tacos are too small for the price and bland taste. The lobster tempura was extremely tough to chew to a point that I wasn’t comfortable swallowing it (but the combination of jalapeño , cilantro, and, sauce was good) and the chicken satay was just ok, no fireworks. In addition to this factors my husband couldn’t eat anything on the menu because he had a soy allergy. Nobu may be for you but not for us

Yelp
Come on who doesn't love spending over $500 on sushi and matcha martinis. Yellowtail Any sushi Wagyu tacos Teriyaki Chicken and white rice - always gonna hit.

Yelp
I have been to this Nobu twice and Nobu in Cabo. I think Nobu as a restaurant is completely overrated and not worth the price or the hype. Before I start, this is not towards the staff, the staff are very friendly, kind and attentive. This review is dedicated towards the chain and the food. Their food is mediocre at best, the quality is not all of that and honestly it falls below competitors like Tao, Zuma or even catch. I have quite literally had take out spots, that have better quality sushi and crispy rice, sashimi etc... The concept of spending $400+ on a bill and you still leave hungry is ridiculous. Then to top it off the food isn't even that good. If you go to Nobu, they're just selling you the name, your paying the ludicrous prices just to say you "went to Nobu" and if that's all you care about... go for it! But if you want a good food experience, there's much better out there! If they did an update of the entire menu and changed the prices and such, they could turn themselves around. But for now! 1 star.

Yelp
A classic venue for mid-week dinner with colleagues or clients. It is also busy and a little bit loud, but tables are well spaced out. The interior downstairs area houses most of the tables. The service was professional and friendly; we asked our server to put together a menu of dishes for us based on a price range and were happy with the selection including some classics (Miso cod, spicy tuna, yellowtail) and some more variety too. Overall the price point is a bit higher than nobu in some other locations (e.g., Chicago) so you don't get quite as much for your money, but I think that's to be expected in New York.

Yelp
I've been slumming it in NYC for a few weeks now....back-and-forth between D.C. and Gotham. I was about ready to head over to the Left coast before bouncing over back to Singapore. A few of us got together to celebrate getting rid of me for the next few months! Nobu came up, and "Why Not?" Reservations were made the day before without any hassle. A CC was required to filter out flakes. We showed up and were greeted very nicely, shown to our table, and explained the menu. All good: our server was professional and excellent in providing for our table The dishes were well-timed and the food was excellent. We had a mix of sushis: nigiri, maki, sashimi, and various other hot dishes. They accommodated a special order Not-on-the-Menu...and it wasn't a simple request. It took some time & skill to make...but we were in no hurry !!!! Wow!! We had time, the evening was ours and we were advised that it would be about 30 min. But no problem, we were amongst friends and in no hurry to go anywhere else. We feasted our way through our dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, food, and drink. The pluses are that it is a beautiful place, food is very good, our server was professionally trained and so wonderful. Some minuses are (1) that the bussers were not as polished as our server: they were a bit gruff and uncoordinated in their delivery. (2) Dress code should be better enforced..there were some guests there that I wouldn't allow into a backyard bbq..together with a huge stroller and the "mandatory" screen appliances for the kid. Lets leave this place for Adults [the kid was the better behaved one, btw] (3) Prices... Prices...Prices. Great food, good service, but were it not a business deduction for me, I probably would have chosen a few boxes of Joe's pizza, some beer, and party at my place there. I run my own business, I know. But to see such a nice place almost empty during prime restaurant hours has me concerned. Maybe that's why the quality of the buss staff isn't 100% there??? I really like this place...been to the one on Malibu and others. But this place is in NYC....it shouldn't go down like this.

Yelp
Absolutely stunning restaurant located downtown and now open for lunch. Someone told me you cannot go without trying their miso-marinated black cod. Ambiance, food, service are all impeccable. There were also some yummy vegetarian options. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Love this Nobu. Our party of two didn't have a reservation, but we were able to snag seats at the bar. Still received great service. Every dish was fantastic, but the highlights were the crispy rice with spicy tuna and black cod. Always get fresh, quality food at any of the Nobus I've been to.

Yelp
The kitchen creates good food and the servers create good feelings. Their staff delivered efficient, cordial service that my family would enjoy. This restaurant creates memorable moments. The plate presentation showed off vibrant, flavorful food. Our group treated it as something special.

Yelp
I like it! Came for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. Service is fast and food Is good... only over hyped plate was the spicy tuna crispy rice. It just missed the mark for me but everything else was really good. I ordered the signature bento box. The tenderloin was tender and flavorful, the pickled bean sprouts were a great add to that portion next the black cod was slightly sweet and literally falling apart b/c it's so tender, lastly the tempura crab was good as well. The pina martini is def tropical and gives vacation vibes with a little kick at the end that sneaks up on you. I say come as a first timer myself I think I did good ordering the "must haves" and was able to taste a little bit of a lot. I would come back if invited because it's pricey like very pricey lol but good experience, no complaints and everyone on the staff was very pleasant from door to seat. Thank you to Chris who was my server for the time.

Yelp
Nobu has regularly set the standard for fine dining in Japanese cuisine, continually pushing boundaries with its innovative flavor combinations. Our experience was mostly enjoyable, though the service was a bit slow at times, and a couple of dishes--like the vegetable sushi and veggie tempura--were underwhelming. That said, the staff were welcoming, the majority of the food and drinks were excellent, and the ambience was truly outstanding. Overall, I had a great time at Nobu and look forward to returning! Lots to explore on the menu!

Yelp
Amazing restaurant, the food here is beyond. It's a fusion of Peruvian and Japanese, and there's something for everyone. We came at lunchtime on a Wednesday with a big group of colleagues (about 10), the service was easily adjusted for our group and dietary needs. They offered to design the food choices for us and brought us an array of items so we could taste everything. They also sized and coursed everything very well so you could get a taste of everything and also not overdo it. The stars were the rock shrimp, crispy rice, and yellowtail sashimi - all of which I would recommend immensely. Everything else was fantastic, seems like you can't go wrong.

Yelp
Nobu is top notch at any location, be prepared for a great experience. This was my first time going to the Nobu in downtown New York. I've been wanting to go for a while, but hadn't had an excuse to get really expensive sushi. I decided that this year, for my partner's birthday, we were going to splurge a little. I booked us a reservation about a week in advance and let them know that it was for a birthday celebration. About two days before our reservation, they texted and asked what the name of the person who was celebrating the birthday was, letting us know that if we were to order a dessert, it would have their name on it. I love little touches like this, it makes it feel so personable and really enhances the experience. I'm not gonna lie, the entrance was a little difficult to find because they're inside a larger building and there's a bunch of scaffolding all around that building. Once inside, Nobu has a gorgeous space. There's a huge bar on the main floor and then the dining area is on a lower level . I highly highly highly recommend anybody going to Nobu get the crispy rice. Hands-down, one of the best things that they serve and you see it getting served to tables around you as well. We did one of their tasting menus. All of the fish is super fresh. You can see it being prepared out in the open. It's just such a great experience and the food is amazing. The staff is so friendly and so attentive. For dessert we got the baked Alaska, which was delicious and had my partner's name written on the plate in chocolate. Anyway, if you're looking to splurge or someplace to take clients, Nobu is perfect.

Yelp
Surprisingly I had never heard of Nobu before this trip to NY. Client suggested it for dinner and I understand why. We were well attended to all dinner - the staff went above and beyond for us, giving us necessary support and suggestions. We did family style dining and ordered through the menu, I dont remember most of what we ordered, the only thing I didnt eat was the edamame as I am allergic. The flavors were great and portions good for the large party we had with us.
google avatar

Yelp
Nobu Downtown delivers on atmosphere and polish, but not every dish earns its reputation. The salmon sashimi, while beautifully presented, lacked depth of flavor. Surprisingly, the grilled tofu was the standout--crispy-edged, well-seasoned, and plated over vibrant vegetables with a subtle chili-sesame glaze. The house salad is a classic: crisp greens, a perfectly balanced ginger dressing, and delicate radish slices that add texture and bite. The crowd skews special-occasion and largely out-of-town, with the occasional table dressed more for a club than a fine dining room. Still, the experience feels curated, efficient, and unmistakably Nobu.

Yelp
This place might be a little overpriced for the portions they put out but the food is so delicious I can't help but continue coming back every time. The sushi is always fresh, the Brussels sprouts were amazing, the dumplings were good, the salmon was perfectly cooked, our drinks were delicious and the ambiance and the service are so fun! I love coming here and I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
We really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. We went at lunch time so it was quieter but I think it would probably be popping in the evening. Going at lunch allowed us more attention from the waiter and his wait staff though. It was also a nice stress free conversation with our waiter since he wasn't busy. I ordered the black cod miso. It had 4 drops of a sweet sauce which was a delightful addition. The cod was cooked to perfection. It moist and flaky and the skin was crispy and sweet. The crispy brussel sprouts was savory but I wouldn't say it was the best combination to have with the cod. The brussel sprouts had more of a salty vinegar flavor. Probably would go better with a steak. My son ordered the signature bento box that comes with steak, cod, and, king crab tempura, sushi, salad, and pickled vegetables. It also came with miso soup. My son couldn't stop talking about how good it was. He said the steak was super tender and it paired well with the pickled vegetables. I tried his king crab tempura and that tasted amazing. I could have just ordered that. We tried the mock tails. I had the mango lychee which was sweet but not overbearing. It was really good. My son had the grapefruit on the rocks which was extremely sour and the yuzu kick. The yuzu kick was really good with a little spice or heat, ie...kick. I would love to go back there again.

Yelp
Nobu is an old stalwart within the downtown dining scene. Not what it used to be, but still good. Beautiful room and good service as well. The food is good too.
google avatar

Christine M.

Yelp
Work lunch at Nobu was a standout experience. We ordered everything to share, which let us try a variety of dishes. The service was excellent--and the food was consistently delicious. The spicy tuna crispy rice was definitely a highlight. A great spot for a midday treat.
google avatar

Elisa G.

Yelp
We were here tonight and had a nice table downstairs and celebrated my son's birthday. We ordered so much sashimi and some of their specialty dishes like new style salmon sashimi gluten free and spicy tuna on crispy rice but it was rice nuggets. Our waiter was very attentive!! It was $805 plus tip for 5 pigs aka people. I think that is crazy expensive but I love Nobu and would come back anytime!!
google avatar

Yelp
Nobu Downtown creates tastes that linger pleasantly in memory. The chef's imagination shines through each plate. Employees - exceptional - cordial and observant. I experienced culinary bliss at Nobu Downtown. This restaurant goes beyond requirements.
google avatar

Megan O.

Yelp
The downstairs dining room's atmosphere is dark and romantic with fun, modern vibes. The sushi was fresh and delicious, however, our party was not blown away by the miso glazed cod. I recommend the jalapeño yellowtail appetizer and both options of crispy rice (spicy tuna and avocado). The staff kindly cleared the tables constantly, but did not make us feel rushed. As a whole, we weren't overwhelmed by the food and enjoy Koi more.
google avatar

Lailah J.

Yelp
Nobu Downtown has a lunch service now, yay! I like this quieter hour for being more chill and relaxed. Fantastic, buttery, meaty cuts of sashimi, on par with other top sushi restaurants in the city. Tender succulent slices of wagyu. The lunch bento box has a little bit of everything and is a good deal. Located inside the historic former AT&T building in FiDi, the space is grand, plush and hip. The restaurant downstairs is spacious and the vibe is one of casual, low-key elegance, not at all stuffy. Several diners were there with family/children, which warmed my heart as I love seeing parents with their (well-behaved) kids at fine dining establishments. Service is excellent - efficient, knowledgeable, smooth & seamless. It's just as I would expect.

Yelp
I had not visited this Nobu location in four years, and it continues to be a wonderful experience! See additional pictures.

Yelp
Amazing food! What an experience! Will be back again! Everything we ordered was delicious and my favorite was the black cod with miso!
google avatar

Grace Y.

Yelp
The best oysters I have ever had. It's a little pricey but good for a date night, business dinner, or special occasion. The menu is really large and there are lots of hot and cold dishes to choose from. Ambiance is also nice.
google avatar

Caroline C.

Yelp
I went here over the weekend with my boyfriend. The customer service was phenomenal and so was the food. I was pleased that I could wear my checkered vans. Online they have business casual but there were people dining in sweats so I was happy about that. The drink of the month is def worth a try and the eel cucumber roll is a must. The picture of the wine I Inserted is also a must if you like Pinot noir
google avatar

Sidra S.

Yelp
I think the food was okay but overhyped for their price. The seafood was fresh but not the best. I'm not a big fan of miso so I didn't really like the overly sweet flavors on my black miso cod or shishito peppers. My favorite had to be the jalapeño yellowtail and the nigiri. I've tried the Nobu in New York and Atlanta and personally feel like this location in Las Vegas is slacking. The waiters are super nice although the quality of the food in this location is just not... all that.
google avatar

Kinjal S.

Yelp
Came here and got lucky to sit at the sushi bar. I got two rolls of the vegetable sushi and tofu new style. Tofu new style was so bad. Just no. The vegetable sushi was so good. It was so fresh. I also got the donuts also very good. The lychee martini was delicious as well. Service was good but a bit slow. The interior is beautiful as well. Such a nice time.
google avatar

Ming M.

Yelp
Despite the $69 price tag, the lobster shiitake salad is amazing. Inflation sure raised the prices of things. I remember when the lobster salad was $50 and I was complaining about it then. Lots of tender pieces of lobster with shiitake mushrooms and salad in a spicy vinaigrette. The miso cod is hands down the best thing I've ever eaten. My last meal kind of good. With a bowl of hot rice, it is the most satisfying dish ever. We also had the heart of palm salad, which was good. The baked crab maki was also excellent, with a spicy sauce mixed in the rice wrapped with soy paper. As for dessert, the warm donuts with caramel sauce and vanilla gelato: best donuts ever! Better than Krispy Kreme! So warm and buttery, I savored every bite of this delicious dessert. I also tried the sorbet, which were just fine but not worth the price. Well, anyway hope the prices come down soon. A dinner at Nobu Downtown is a la carte only, no special combinations like lunch at Nobu 57. Lunch at Nobu 57might be a better option for me next time, because dinner for two was $224 with no drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down, one of my favorite meals I have had in a long time! This was my first time going to Nobu, mostly because every time I traveled and attempted to book a reservation, it would be booked out for 2 months... so I was very excited to see what Nobu was about. We decided to get omakase, 2 of the salmon specials they had that day, and the toro with pear special. The dishes were delicious! Of course, some were not as great but overall, the meal was nice. My least favorite was the clam soup, which came second to last in the course. It was underwhelming but again, not terrible. My favorite would have to be toro. I typically get toro/o-toro whenever I go out for sushi but the toro was scrumptious. The vibe inside was lovely and our server was super helpful. I enjoyed my experience at Nobu Downtown and would definitely visit again!

Matthew N.

Yelp
Great time. Drinks were terrific and food was so yummy. Staff and service was spot on. Love the vibe!

Yelp
I screwed up again. Forgot it was the wife's Bday. I had a lot of stuff going on, stressing me out. Forgot to buy her balloons and flowers. So I knew I had to shell out some serious dough to make her happy again. I ended up dropping 2 stacks on jewelry for her, that made her happy for about 10 minutes. Started whining about how she wants to be wined and dined. Well, I made the reservations at Nobu, of course I can only find 5:30pm reservations, bc all the others are taken. We drive into the city, spend about $100 on tolls, $50 on parking and another $300 on dinner. This made her happy for about 5 minutes. Yeah... we had an argument on the drive back home. Oh yes, the review: Food 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Service 5/5 Im taking a star away so they can lower their prices, this way I can enjoy here more often.

Yelp
Just ok Average and ostentatious Better food and menu can be found elsewhere Servers were also haughty

Yelp
Great food and ambiance. Highly recommended. Make sure you get a reservation in advance as this place gets really busy.

Yelp
Came here for my 1 year wedding anniversary. The restaurant is beautiful and fancy inside and great for taking photos although once you're seated at your table it is dark and intimate. The service was great from start to finish. Now the food.... AMAZING. Please get the crispy rice and tuna, it was everything. The wagyu dumplings were the other star of the show and I literally went to another world when I bit into one. We also tried the crab tacos and the yellowtail jalapeno roll which were both great as well. The rock shrimp was yummy too! The drinks are also delicious and perfectly strong. I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Yelp
Getting here was a little hard, you have to go through a door with the sign that says Nobu on the right side of the hotel and eventually make your way through the first floor to go down the basement where Nobu would really be. Thankfully they were okay with the first half of the party to arrive first before the rest. We came not for the omakase but for just a few rolls and some dishes. I got my own personal sushi selection since I wanted a taste of what their sushi is like and tbh I feel like blue ribbons normal sushi is better. The fish quality is good but not that amazing where I'm blown away by how fresh it is. I've also had better at Ki Sushi with their fish being shipped from Japan's Tsukiji market. So the sushi was pretty underwhelming. Since we came for a birthday the dessert had a candle and a happy birthday signage written on it in fancy lettering and it's very pretty and Instagram worthy. I don't know if I'd come back here again if I'm not trying the omakase next time but by the sushi selection i feel like now I don't feel like trying it anymore especially for 200+ dollars. The service was good and I don't have any complaints but it was pretty average meal in a pretty place.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
Nobu has created incredible brand equity and name recognition by its consistently exceptional food. The service is always attentive, and, if you're into people watching, this is the place. Every dish I've ordered is excellent. From the rock shrimp tempura, yellow tail jalapeño, miso cod, sashimi, rolls, (and even dessert). They have a wide selection of sake, and other traditional Japanese wines and beers. The restaurant is well-managed, and the hosts are always very friendly, and cordial. The dining room is large with both, table seating, and banquets. The ambiance is what you'd expect of a popular restaurant, enjoyed by many from across the world. I've dined here dozens of times with friends, executive clients, and celebrities. Nobu never disappoints!

Yelp
Posh restaurant that specializes in gourmet Asian cuisine. Shared several plates with two other people so got to try a decent amount of food. Servers was knowledgeable and friendly. Food came out quickly. The ribeye steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and delicious. Fish was super fresh and expertly prepared. The dessert was a disappointment: nothing special in terms of taste and very expensive. Give the high prices here, would only come sparingly.

Yelp
NOBU NY city downtown...very noisy inside. Could barely hear my girlfriend talk nor the waitress who was standby directly across from me...that's how loud it was. Made a firm reservation for 8:15, for two, on a Wed evening. We were on time. Hostesses asked us to sit on a bench nearby for while. I estimated 15 min delay to get a table. Prices were exorbitant given the small portions. Had to order a couple more things just so we wouldn't leave feeling hungry. This consequently increased the bill enormously. This was not a surprise to me as I knew this about NOBU going in ($$$$ rated). Just facts. Waitress was polite and very knowledgable. But what prompted me to take a moment and submit a negative review is that both us got a strong case of suspected food poisoning. I had a bout of diarrhea, which has hopefully passed. My date woke up with a very bad upset stomach, significant enough that she is going miss work all day and stay in bed and self medicate. We both had fish dishes of one kind or another -- her, fish tacos, and myself, spicy jalapeño tuna. Needless to say, I will not return to Nobu ever again. Too much money for what you get, and what you can catch. And I'm not talking about the fresh catch of the day!
google avatar

Melyssa D.

Yelp
We've been to a few Nobu locations and this is the most lively. The music was trendy but more upbeat with a lounge vibe which is perfect for the location. The food was delicious and service was amazing. Table turn over was fast and they seem to expedite dinner services but they won't mix courses which we appreciated. Overall we enjoyed our date night, we did order the ribeye but I forgot my photo

Yelp
Interior is nice but slightly dated with dim lighting and an average to loud noise level. Service is attentive and formal, our waitress was helpful in navigating the menu and pointing out crowd favorites. Food was good. Crispy rice is tasty and you spoon the topping on yourself. Miso cod did not blow me away but everything was enjoyable.

Yelp
This place is freaking incredible! Wow!! We came here for my husband's birthday and were blown away by the food. You know when you try places and your tastebuds are introduced to entirely new flavors? That was here for us and I am picky as hell!! We started with drinks, the sidecar and lychee. Totally on point! Next were the apps: crispy rice with spicy tuna, yellowtail with jalapeño, wagyu dumplings. WOW- the wagyu dumplings, a special that night, were mind-blowing! For our mains, we had the ribeye, miso cod and veggie tempura. The ribeye and miso cod were another level. We ended with the mochi. Service was excellent. I would love a vibe that was a bit sexier, louder music, but nonetheless, it was a fun night and vibe. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Food overall was good but was it worth $280/pp? Questionable. HOT *New Style Sashimi with Salmon - decent but recall it better (flavor of sesame oil, giner, soy sauce - this doesn't sounds too new?) *Black Cod Butter Lettuce (2 pcs) - best thing we had as expected. *Squid 'Pasta' with Light Garlic Sauce - the worst dish. We got that this is not a pasta dish, sounds more like squid in pasta form dish. But it was literally Squid and Vegetable soy stir fry that you can order at a cheap corner Chinese joint. What a joke. *Grilled Chicken with Teriyaki or Anticucho - chicken was a bit dry but good Peruvian flavor. FROM THE SUSHI COUNTER *Ikura with Quail Egg Sushi - sake washed, good. Seaweed quality was meh. *Salmon Skin Handrolls - very good but the seaweed. *Baked Snow Crab Cut Roll - fishy fishy fishy. Flavor was good but the fishiness overpowering the dish. Kotta Vesper - very strong as it should be. Kinobi Jalapeno - basic Qui Espresso Martini - best one good balance not too sweet, yet basic.

Yelp
Nobu, Nobu, Nobu, Nobu...Jumpman? Anyone? Who hasn't heard of Nobu. It's the go to sushi restaurant for celebrities all over the world. I actually wanted to go to the one in the Bahamas but it was booked up for weeks. Lucky for me there are locations everywhere, including several in NYC. I booked this downtown location and it was very busy when we got there. Not surprised though. When you enter it has an upstairs bar/lounge area and downstairs is the main dining room. I got the omakase and I think my husband got the chicken teriyaki with a side of vegetable tempura, which he proclaimed was the best chicken teriyaki he'd ever had. Omakase was to die for. Every dish was unique and brought a new flavor, texture, sense to the palate. If I had to pick one of the dishes, it'd be a tie between the Wagyu beef and the noodle on consumme. Dessert was of course ice cream. Service was nice, staff were friendly, and I'd 100% go back.

Yelp
Made reservations for my partner's bday since this is one of his favorite restaurants. Neither of us had been to this location so it was a bit of a gamble but we had so much faith in the brand we didn't foresee an issues. We had 5:45 reservation on a Sat which is literally 15 mins after they open. Keep this in mind when you view the videos and photos of what the entrance looked like at the time of our arrival. I was sure we were in the wrong location, using the wrong entrance but as you can see it clearly states "NOBU" and front embrace. We saw dirty bottles, garbage, spilled fruit and all kinds of garbage on their steps. Not the streets, their steps. Once inside, the establishment did live up to the standards we expected. When we brought the filth outside to their attention, a tall Asian guy curtly responded " that's the neighborhood we're in". Once seated, we ordered the jalapeño yellow tail, he had a Bailey's and I had a lichee martini. It was perhaps the worse I've had. His drink was fine. We got the miso cod, grilled chicken, Brussel sprout salad and edamame to share. My favorite was def the chicken which must have been sous vide because it was so tender and juicy with a slight char on the outside, seasoned to perfection. Towards the end of dinner they brought out the bday surprise which he enjoyed. Overall, a highly underwhelming dinning experience for $350. I'm sure folks will say that's not a lot but I've been to other places with more delectable cuisine, better customer service and an overall quality culinary experience for less. Do better Nobu Downtown. You're effn up the brand and you've def lost us as customers.

Yelp
A solid Nobu, as usual, go for the hot appetizers and cooked fish. The sushi I've had better elsewhere, but it's hard to beat this miso cod and the beef dumplings.

Yelp
All I can say is that regardless of where you dine a Nobu you are never disappointed.......Everything from our walking up to the greeters stand to the staff seeming to know what we wanted, even before we wanted it. We started off the evening with a perfectly chilled Grey Goose dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives, then the spicy tuna tartar with small rice cubes to their signature dish, the miso marinated black cod, amazing, perfectly cooked. The baby roasted corn with warm honey and truffle oil is a must,as well as the roasted cauliflower......roasted shisito peppers and a king crab dish......dessert is a must.miso cappuccino. Many thanks to Leonardo aka Leo as all of his suggestions were spot on as was his attention to our 49th wedding anniversary......

Yelp
The food just doesn't live up to the hype. Yes some items are really good but most aren't anything special. Also to consider, it's pricier than a lot of other places with much better and more quality food. Don't even consider the sushi rolls, and the tacos. Some of the cocktails were really good, but again, way overpriced. The service however was amazing.

Yelp
Came here on Thursday after work in July and it was not too busy. I had to knock off a star because the drinks were pretty disappointing. Their selection of martinis was not the best. After trying a few of the cocktails, I had to switch to a beer because they just were not enjoyable for me. However the apps were really good. The jalapeño yellowtail was definitely my favorite app on the cold menu while the squid "pasta" was my favorite on the hot menu. We also did the sushi and sashimi selection which was ok at best. I don't think I would recommend this spot for omakase based on the selection provided. Doesn't seem worth the 225 price point. But for family style dishes, I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Service is always amazing from the hostess, to the bartender, to the waitress. When selecting between Nobu 57 and Nobu Downtown , the downtown location is the better option. While both restaurants are in desperate need of a makeover the downtown location is more aesthetically pleasing and better for photos
