The 34 Best Hotels in Barcelona

"Nobu caused a stir when it opened next to Barcelona’s unfashionable Sants railway station in 2019. Since then both the hotel and the area have had a glow-up. Nobody will ever know which caused what but, frankly, who cares since Nobu Barcelona is just a couple blocks away from some of the city's hottest local restaurants and wine bars, and you can reach central Barcelona in a matter of minutes by cab, train or metro. Inside it’s a zen fantasy: a beautiful abstract tapestry highlights the impressive double height of the lobby. The painting behind the reception desk–inspired by the Japanese ink art of sumi-e–is a motif that is carried across the hotel, as is the warm wood paneling, a running theme throughout the common areas and guest rooms." - Gemma Askham, Isabelle Kliger

Nobu Hotel Barcelona

"Why book? Nobu is great value and oh-so-sexy in an up-and-coming location.Set the scene Nobu caused a stir when it opened next to Barcelona’s unfashionable Sants railway station in 2019. Since then both the hotel and the area have had a glow-up. Nobody will ever know which caused what but, frankly, who cares since Nobu Barcelona is now the only luxury hotel in one of Barcelona’s most fun neighborhoods. Standing in the—let’s call a spade a spade—ugly square outside, it’s hard to imagine stepping over the threshold only to be surrounded by trendy young couples in one of Barcelona’s chicest spaces. The entrance to the hotel is inspired by a traditional Japanese Shinto Temple gate and the passage from the mortal world to the spiritual world. At Nobu Hotel Barcelona, it means switching the outdoor chaos for the peace and quiet of the hotel. Inside it’s a zen fantasy: a beautiful abstract tapestry highlights the impressive double height of the lobby. The painting behind the reception desk–inspired by the Japanese ink art of sumi-e–is a motif that is carried across the hotel, as is the warm wood paneling, a running theme throughout the common areas and guest rooms. The backstory Built as an office block in the 1970s, the building later operated as the not-so-fancy Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya. Nobu Hospitality see themselves as ‘place-makers,’ meaning that they actively choose locations where they see potential for regeneration, and they’ve certainly succeeded here. In this age of sustainability, Nobu’s chosen location in an authentic neighborhood like Sants, right next to the station that links Barcelona to Paris and Madrid by high-speed train, is looking shrewdly inspired. The rooms In typical Nobu fashion, the 259 sleek, sexy guest rooms all use warm natural materials with soft lines and finishes to create a chilled-out vibe. Suites are airy and the traditional Japanese cedar-wood ‘Onsen’ bathtubs make you want to soak in style while gawking at the Sagrada Familia and the Barcelona skyline. Premium Skyline rooms are another spacious option with jaw-dropping views over the city. Request a corner room on the Montjuïc side of the hotel if the idea of waking up to watch the sun rising over the Mediterranean appeals.Food and drink Nobu is probably best known for its Japanese restaurants by legendary Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa. At Nobu Barcelona you can enjoy his signature creations - like the yellowtail sashimi or the wagyu gyoza with spicy ponzu - with Sagrada Familia views on the side from the 23rd floor of the hotel. The spa Nowhere embodies the “zen” feel of Nobu Barcelona more than the subterranean spa—a wellbeing space that blends the ultra-modern with the age-old. Three treatment rooms are home to signature Nobu Spa Rituals, facial treatments by Natura Bissé and a massage menu using aromatherapy oils by Dr. Joseph. The neighborhood/area It’s no secret that the area around Barcelona’s main train station is rather scruffy and not the best place to be wandering around late at night. That said, the Sants neighborhood is just a couple of blocks away and brimming with local restaurants and wine bars, and you can reach central Barcelona in a matter of minutes by cab, train or metro. The service Like the Nobu brand, the service here is sleek and professional - although perhaps not the fastest in town. For families Connecting rooms are available across all categories. Eco effort Nobu Barcelona is in the process of switching over from single-use plastic amenities to larger refillables and is launching a project that will last into 2024 and beyond to make the building carbon neutral. It is working with Reforest (https://reforestproject.com/) to plant 2,300 trees just outside Barcelona over the next two years.Accessibility Nobu has ADA compliant rooms, including adapted beds, bathroom, mirrors, lights, and grab rails, ramp access to the lobby, wide doors, accessible elevators, and accessible toilets in public areas. Anything left to mention? The one thing that has really been missing from Nobu Barcelona since the launch is outdoor space but, not any more, with a brand-new rooftop terrace opening this summer.  \" - Isabelle Kliger

We had a lovely stay at Nobu Barcelona hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We had originally booked a zen junior suite, however as we arrived around 4 hours before official check in we were offered an “upgraded room” for €50 euros extra a night and we would be able to check in immediately, which we accepted. The room we were given was exactly the same as the original one we had booked but just on a higher floor. Nonetheless the room was beautiful, spacious and very relaxing. The hotel wasn’t far from the trains which was great for getting around. The main setback for the hotel was how small and busy the rooftop pool was so if you’re looking to lounge by the pool I wouldn’t recommend. All in all we had a lovely stay here and would definitely come back.

Google
Beautiful property! Very small and overcrowded pool, but looks stunning. Restaurants are very great. Beautiful room and comfy bed! The staff are great and to their best to make our stay wonderful. Major of the crowd is really old in this property and lot of family (noisy)- unlikely other Nobu. I complained serval time for the kids behavior in the corridors (was play time). Room is not soundproof for the corridor, could heard very well cleaning, people in / out room and kids yelling in corridors. Wasn't a relaxing / quiet space as I expected for this hotel. Not expensive to stay

Google
Great hotel, amazing food and staff. The only issue is that the pool is very small while in the pictures online seems a lot bigger, which is a bit misleading. Special kudos to Abdul who was helping us with getting taxis and all the luggage, he really made us feel special.

Me and my wife stayed here for three nights during a weekend getaway to Barcelona. The hotel is absolutely stunning, the interior design is flawless throughout. The rooftop bar is incredible with breathtaking views across the city and amazing drinks. The pool is a little smaller than we had envisaged from the photos and we didn't end up using it, but it's by no means a negative on the hotel. Breakfast and restaurant again, stunning. Overall an incredibly enjoyable stay and we would stay again if ever in Barcelona.

Google
The rooms are wonderful; spacious, clean with a terrific view! From the moment we walked into the hotel, the staff has been very friendly, courteous, helpful and cheerful. A beautiful place to stay. The breakfast each morning was busy and each day the staff rose to the challenge. A fantastic selection of local foods. The staff was eager to assist and provided a memorable meal. Special shout out to Mateo for his excellent service, great attitude and personal service!

Google
Avoid this hotel at all costs. I've stayed here a few times and the last time was truly the last. From spending a ton of time on my vacation having to (re)explain issues to the staff to needing maintenance to come twice (to two different rooms - we had to switch because the blinds kept breaking in our old room), to an old room service tray not being picked up outside of our room for almost 24 hours...this was only a snapshot of the issues with the room and general service provided by Nobu. This is listed as a 5-star hotel but it definitely is not. You can get a much nicer experience for the same amount of money at plenty of other hotels throughout the city. Truly, this place is not worth the headache. Save your vacation and choose a different place to stay.

Google
I was very disappointed with my recent stay. Upon checking into my room, I found old underwear left in the cabinet from a previous guest. This is a basic hygiene issue and should have been addressed before the room was provided to a new guest. I expected higher cleanliness standards from a hotel of this level.

Google
Where do I start? The room is relatively clean and the staff is nice. However, lots of random noises in the room at night. There’s many lifts in the hotel but every time you leave or come back, there’s always a wait somehow. And it’s bit annoying coz the water tap in the bathroom is automatic sensor water tap which makes a big noise every time the water stops. Also it’s bit weird they offer a non-Japanese made snack to celebrate their Japanese theme hotel? Not sure if they understand the difference. Overall the hotel isn’t bad but it’s just not 5 star.

Yelp
We stayed at Nobu Barcelona on two different occasions and both times our stays were nothing but great. The entire Nobu team was always attentive, friendly and welcoming. The check in was fast and easy, they stored our luggage till our rooms were ready so we could go out and explore Barcelona. Our rooms were beautifully decorated and very spacious. We loved the spacious shower area as well. We had breakfast in the cafe downstairs and it was amazing. The hotel is about 30 minute walking distance away from the La Rambla street or La Segrada Family, which we loved because it gave us an opportunity to see more of Barcelona. I highly recommend Nobu Barcelona if you visit the city.

Yelp
Paid close to $800 per night for a room with only a bed. The bed faced a giant tv screen, rather than the lovely view out the window. The lighting was dim in the bed area and bathroom. Difficult to use the shower, the water wand barely reached into the portion of the shower covered by glass. The sink was a bowl on a wooden counter, impossible to use without getting water everywhere. It is conveniently located to the metro station.

Yelp
My family and I stayed at this hotel. It was a a good experience for us. It is conveniently located near Sants train station. The staff was friendly. We were there for 1 night but did not leave immediately upon check out. They held our luggage for 5 hours. It is also conveniently located near the hop on hop off bus. Also, upon arriving, we were treated with coffee and water. We did not have breakfast there (did not know we could). Nice feature is the shower (walk-in) with no edge. It had a hand held jet as well as a roof shower head. It also had electronic curtains controlled from the bed. It also had plenty of USB-A ports. I would recommend this hotel based on my experience.

Yelp
Stayed here at the end of February 2024 for a trade show. Great service, and good Japanese concept hotel. Everything was very clean. Nobu's restaurant on the 23rd floor was great, with nice views of the city. There is also a rooftop bar/pool/lounging area which has views on 3 sides. They serve food and drinks up there too. A bit pricey, but you are paying for the view... As for the room, I got a King bedroom. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. There was ample closet space and drawers. There was also a coffee maker and a small fridge stocked with snacks and drinks for sale ( I believe, as I didn't buy any). The minimalist bathroom was also a good size, with a rainfall shower big enough for 2 people, as well as a shower wand. The room had 4 pre-set lighting settings. It may have just been me, but there was no way to turn on the bathroom light without turning on the rest of the lights in the room. It would be nice to be able to at least turn on the bathroom lights independently. They also had a motorized curtain and a motorized sheer. But both could only be all the way open or all the way closed. It would be better if these could also partial open or close, like I've seen in many other hotels.. One last thing is that this room did not have a desk or table. Since I was there for work, A desk and table would be essential. Perhaps other rooms have them. This hotel is located next to the Barcelona Sants train station, so it's very convenient if you want to get around by train or metro. Overall, I had a great experience at Nobu Hotel in Barcelona. I would recommend the hotel to those who want an elegant Japanese themed experience with excellent service, a world class restaurant, and a great rooftop bar.

Yelp
We had a 2 night stay on a Viking pre cruise extension. Arriving into Barcelona at 7:00 AM meant we faced a long wait to get into our room with a normal 3:00 check in time. Initial time at reception was quick and pleasant. There was only one other couple ahead of us for the one person at reception. And we were told to check back at 2:00 to see if our room was ready. When we checked in with our on-site Viking rep she said she'd check with reception about getting in the room. After we had finished a cup of coffee, she walked up and said we were set and a room was ready! Someone hadn't checked in yet and we got that space. Super! Quick time at reception and off to the room by 9:30. For tired USA travelers this was a Godsend. We were in 319 which had some nice features. Room was pleasingly spacious! It is a corner room--2 walls of windows! This room and 4 others (per the floor plan)on the door) have large balconies with privacy panels surrounding. Nice but there was no furniture on the balcony--not really a problem. We were busy seeing the city. The sparse design aesthetic in pleasing to the eye, but not convenient for our travel needs. Only one chair in the room is not great for two in the room--someone has to sit on the bed. There is literally no counter space to set a suitcase on--and after flying, etc, I didn't want to open a bag on the white bed cover. There is one luggage rack in the closet--not much for 2 travelers. Curtains open electronically, but we were not informed of that. I read that on a Yelp review. Look for button over the bed table. Good to know. Room includes a mini bar which we did not use. Bath is roomy enough with a large shower with rain and telephone shower faucets. No curtain, nice for design but shower spray extends well into the room. Again minimal counter space means placed for toiletries is a bit challenging. Under the sink is about it. Towels are generous in size and thick! We had wash cloths on arrival but none on day 2--minor I'd say. Rooftop has a spectacular view of the city with outside bar and menu service. Wagyu sliders on the menu (a tasty choice!) do foretell a pricy selection. Our stay included buffet breakfast. It was nice but not outstanding. I found the coffee to be quite good. Check out was smooth not too busy when I was there but traffic was picking up--there were many cruisers here getting ready for transfer to the ship. A cheerful representative closed out my account. In total, some pluses, some minuses.

Yelp
Nobu was a wonderful surprise, thoughtfully designed, and very luxurious for the price. Stay here if you want a centrally located, high end room at a fair price. Service: - Upon entry the bell man immediately took our bags on a trolley and transferred them to our room as we finished check in. When we got in the room, he explained all the details of the room (to be explained later). - Friendly, well trained staff The room: - Automation Scenes: super cool, preprogrammed scenes that controls every single light, and curtains with one push of a button ("relax","day light","theater", "sleep"). You only find these in very high end hotels to this extent. - Wonderful design details, built in cabinets, and lighting - Japanese minimalist design evokes a peaceful and relaxing space Other notes: - The hotel lobby and entrance are minimal and not ultra luxurious - Pricing shines here. On a Sunday in April, we paid $300/night. I've stayed in Marriotts that are much more expensive, but way less in quality and detailed I will be back next time I'm in Barcelona, even as a Marriott loyalist.

Yelp
I stayed at Nobu for 3 nights. My stay was mediocre, not the best visit. If you want to go to the pool, you'll have to get to the elevator at 10:30 a.m. so you can fight/run for a spot. You can't drink anything by the small pool. The staff also kept saying the breakfast was free; however, I paid $15 for each person and had a dress code too. So, I felt taken advantage of. What has upset me is that I was charged for minibar items that were never placed in my room. I had to ask for an invoice three weeks later because I realized I was overcharged on my credit card statement. I have been waiting for a response for a month now. I haven't gotten a response from Adel yet. I hate coconut water, and the fact I can't prove I didn't consume the water is the most aggravating part of this situation! They also said I had "ron and a bottle of champagne." So now I'm out of $56, and insulted that they said I drank coconut water. Can someone please tell me what $10 ron is? If you plan to stay there, I recommend that once you get to the room, call the front desk to go over what is in the minibar. EVEN IF YOU DON'T SEE ANYTHING! Would recommend asking for Adel, to review each item in the room so you don't end up with a surprised, insulting bill.

Yelp
Our room had a gorgeous view and the breakfast was really good but that is where the compliments end. We bought the "package" deal from Viking and were clearly taken advantage of by Nobu. Our check in at the hotel on early Friday afternoon took over 2 hours, the front desk staff was snippy, the AC could not keep up with the 87 degree heat, the bed frame needed repair, the closet light was not turning off and a few other minor issues that all added up to a bad stay and this bad review. FYI, I (nicely) asked the front desk clerk for the GM to call me and.. you guessed it after 4 days - crickets. I've emailed to both Nobu and Viking to let them know. We will never go back to a Nobu and have learned our lesson. We'll stick with Marriott thank you and Nobu should stick to restaurants because they do that really well. UPDATE: After replying to the auto-sent email from Nobu asking for feedback I sent an honest and polite account of my experience and asked for the GM to respond. My hopes were to discover if the GM had ever received my request for a call. The response was from a low level employee tasked with managing the email box who had no intention of actually reading, comprehending, then replying to my questions. Instead I was sent a cut and paste response hoping I'll have a better experience next time I visit. Hahaha. What awful service.

Yelp
The most comfortable bed of our whole trip! But after that everything just lands a little flat. Nobu has a cool concept which matches the restaurant we all know and love (or hate). The touches were nice - sweet rice cookies on the bed when you check in, flip flops instead of traditional slippers, and an overall polish you get from a chain hotel. But it lacked soul, creative flare, and being in a good neighborhood. The pool is SUPER tiny. And not heated at all. Which is terrible in September when one cool breeze will chill you to your bones after taking a dip in the pool that feels like an ice bath. And the prices they are charging for food, you'd think you were in New York or LA. I think they tried on a very surface level to make this hotel cool but it just looks like a reskinned Asian inspired Hilton. there are other hotels I'd rather recommend in Barcelona with a better location, better service, better food, that feel more like a 5 star luxury experience.

Yelp
First Nobu experience and I was impressed. I guess this is why there's so much hype about his restaurants One funny thing- at night I noticed all these, what I thought were flying birds outside the windows, but it turns out they were bats. Don't forget - you're on the top level of the hotel and there's no outdoor dining so not to worry but so interesting! All the food was delicious and I especially liked these Mochi like cubes. My brother ordered everything and so I feel like I tasted everything.

Yelp
We stayed at this Barcelona location of the Nobu chain of hotels recently while in Spain. Beautiful modern decor, located next to Sants train station (convenient although we used taxis), great service, fantastic view of the city from the restaurant are all reasons to stay here. We also appreciated a reliable home base of of Asian food for the kids while traveling. Spa looked great but other than touring it, didn't get to use.

Adrian W.

Yelp
Rude front desk. I come here a lot. Will not be coming back. I was headed to breakfast as I was denied by one of the staff members. When someone already told me I could eat breakfast. Stayed up til 7am smh

Yelp
What a wonderful surprise this hotel turned out to be for us. Just nearby the main train station, the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. We were lucky to get a corner room with windows on both sides. The room was spacious and super clean and the bathroom felt like a spa experience. Too bad the rooftop bar closes earlier on Sundays because we really wanted to have some tapas and sangria up there but be sure to go on the other days when they open later. The Nobu restaurant staff was super friendly. We ended up going there for a light dinner, drinks and dessert in the bar area. Definitely a must!

Yelp
This is a very nice hotel with friendly staff. The place is very clean and upscale. You will have to dine at their restaurant one night for beautiful views of Barcelona. The only reason I gave them a 4/5 stars is housekeeping reseals the shampoo/conditioner/body washes and they reuse the personal care items. I was given someone's used box of q-tips which I thought was pretty gross. I didn't let housekeeping come back.

Linda Y.

Yelp
Watch out! So sad to have a high end hotel disappoint . Had originally booked through third company deal, but direct hotel had a summer offer... they did not come through. Third party deal would've been saving more money. Nobu offered a summer deal with welcome drinks at rooftop, turned out to be water! & no summer deal amenities as promised . Room itself was nice , but so sad , won't be recommending this place .

Yelp
Visited Nobu Barcelona restaurant in the Nobu Hotel Barcelona soon after it's recent opening. Environment: The décor is very chic and modern with lots of seating for dining. I like that they have an open kitchen concept with a sushi bar so you are able to see food being prepared if seated nearby. Food/drink: Ordered the Spicy Edamame, Salmon Sashimi, Spicy Seafood Soup, Wagyu Sliders, Salmon & Avocado Maki, and the Banana Harumaki to eat and some Cava Rosé and a glass of Port to drink. All of the seafood was fresh and delicious, though the Seafood Soup had way too many mushrooms and Wagyu Sliders were very bland. The Banana Harumaki was a wonderful dessert and great way to end the meal. Service: Service started off a bit slow, with it taking about 15 mins to get a food menu after being seated. However, once it picked up the waiters were actually very nice. Overall, I'm glad I got to check this spot out during my trip to Barcelona!

Erika E.

Yelp
Not a good experience at all. The food was not good. The service was ok. I would not eat at Nobu again or recommend anyone stay at this hotel.

Henry C.

Yelp
do not waste your money, for a five star the service is absolutely terrible. internet is terrible, no 24 hour room service, i ordered good during the day it took 1 hour to arrive. definitely stay somewhere else. what a waste
